Booked only yesterday for a Sunday lunch today. A table of 4 later in the day was offered and wow was it worth waiting until 17.30 for what was amazing food. Food was all very tasty and clearly fresh ingredients. All very hot and plenty of it all. All staff were very friendly and polite. Will be trying to get in for lunch in the week another time and try the menu. Thank you for an amazing visit will be back again and pleased to have found you having recently moved to the area.

After spotting the pub and driving past many times finally booked a table for a Sunday Roast / Birthday Treat. Quite Simple the best roast we have had out and one of the best meals out.... We had 1 regular roast and 1 large / mixed roast followed by a desert. The food was served in good time and was hot :) Meats all tender :) Great Taste :) Good Portion Sizes :) All staff welcoming & polite. Couldn't fault service :) Table , Cutlery and Pub Clean :) Please don't change a thing... We will be Back

I have had successive excellent meals at The Bell. Friendly staff, good service, but best of all, great food. A good varied menu and flexible with dairy intolerance. Been as a couple several times, as a family and also as a group (30 people for a work event) - each time, the food was cooked with great attention and full of flavour.

We came across the Bell while visiting family staying in the area, after an uneventful search for somewhere to eat mid afternoon on a Sunday we were fortunate enough to find the Bell. The staff were very friendly and efficient in service, food was first rate pub fair and a very pleasant change from the norm these days. I was also very pleasantly surprised at the bill - great VFM, and will definitely visit again if in the area.

The best food I have eaten out in 5 years. Had all the starters as tapas mains, and the four dessert taster plate. All exceptional in taste and texture. Exceptional value. First google review I have been bothered to leave for an eatery. To find a chef of this calibre in an old country pub was a surprise. Great service and staff.

Went for a lunchtime meal, having been recommended by a friend. Absolutely wonderful food, a bit expensive, but well worth it. The staff were so friendly and attentive, a nice if small restaurant that got a little noisy at times (a group that liked to talk over each other) but on the whole a lovely place to eat. We have already booked for our next meal with friends in a few weeks time.

Came here at lunchtime. Really cosy pub. Great atmosphere and the music wasn't too loud. We had the Mexicana linguine. And the bell inn "scampi". With a side of cheese dumplings and ice cream after. The linguine was a healthy portion and my misses said was flavoured really well. The scampi was king prawns. Really flavored well. Unfortunately the cheese dumplings were slightly greasy. And had to be eaten straight away. That was the only thing that was the issue. Definitely will go back when the new menu is out.

Walk in for 1 on a Friday, sat immediately. Waited a while for a drink order and a food order. Restaurant was busy so waited 30 mins for food. Worth the wait as food was delicious. Lamb shoulder. Jus was rich and mash was creamy. Large portion of veg on the side. Rhubarb pavlova was really nice. Just wish it wasn't in a Sundae glass .

The 5 of us don’t meet often as one of our group members lives abroad so we pick somewhere special. The meal did not disappoint. Absolutely delicious!! The wine however was very acidic. We complained as it really was not palatable, the waiter brought a fresh glass of wine out to “test” us but then admitted it was the same bottle!! I do not know why he felt the need and to make a fool out of us and ridicule us?!? The wine was replaced but we all just felt that this act was really not necessary or kind. We may not be wine experts but we know what we like!!!

Decided to try the Bell due to being ranked in the top 100 restaurants to try in the UK. Wow this did not disappoint. Food was outstanding. Group of 6 ladies who opted for tapas starters, courgette crisps and cheese dumplings were delicious (next time I am not sharing lol) followed by mains of Landlords Mac 'n' cheese, Salmon Wellington and Lamb shoulder. Everyone also thoroughly enjoyed their mains. Great sized portions. Dessert consisted of Sticky Toffee Pudding, Lemon cheesecake, salted caramel ice cream and mango sorbet. Polished off a fantastic dinner. Safe to say I personally looked like I was ready to pop. The service was top notch, attentive and enjoyed some banter with the staff. Overall I would 100% recommend the Bell and will look forward to the next time that we visit.

The place's prime location, easy parking, and generous food portions make it a promising spot. Yet, vegetarians and chicken enthusiasts might feel a bit limited in their choices. Despite the slightly cramped atmosphere for larger groups, the cozy ambiance and satisfactory seating arrangements are pluses. The staff's friendliness adds to the experience, although there is room for service improvement. With an average spending of £20 - £35 per person for a starter, main, and a drink, I am certainly looking forward to revisiting the place in the future. 😇

We all say our mums/ nans cooked the best roast, but I’m telling you they don’t, this was great. Always driven past The Bell, but never visited until now. This is a gorgeous pub in Purton, and very much worth a visit. Food on a Sunday was rather expensive though, especially for a vegetarian option which was veg, peppercorn sauce (as the gravy has meat in it) in a Yorkshire pudding and roast for £15!! The other option was minted pea fritters, also £15! I don't understand why Sunday menus for vegetarians are hard to do. It could be easy to use normal gravy not from meat, along with Quorn sausages, veg, Yorkshire, roast pots etc. Literally replace meat with vegetarian sausages. You can buy them frozen! They did have baguettes that were £10.50, though all meat related. However, the lady serving said they could do cheese and pickle in a baguette with roast pots and salad which was really nice of them. Not visited in the week, but if you are vegetation it really isn't a place to visit for food on a Sunday. The venue, 5* Menu choice for vegetarian 2* Menu choice for vegan, don't even bother coming here. Bar staff 5* for doing something that wasn't on the menu (maybe add this?!) Sadly disappointing.

This is a lovely pub in a beautiful setting. Unfortunately it is let down by its lack of vegetarian options on a Sunday. Whilst I am a meat eater so had lots of options when we came here to eat, my partner didn't. He could have vegetables, roasties and peppercorn sauce or a pea fritter. The bar staff were very nice and made him a cheese and pickle baguette, but we had to pay £10.50 for this. I had a turkey and cranberry baguette which was OK, but definitely not worth the £10.50. I can't fault the roasties though which were amazing. If they could cater better for vegetarians and or vegans this would be a great place, but for the food we had it was very over-priced. I'd recommend coming here for a nice drink and to soak up the area, but maybe not to eat here if you have a vegetarian or vegan in your group.

In the middle of a beautiful countryside setting, Lucknam Park is a hotel and spa as well. We had booked in to their Walled garden restaurant, a light and airy modern addition. The dovecote is currently being turned into a smoking room and humidor. Since it was our first visit it was useful that two of the group ordered from the main menu and two from the lunch menu. Read the menu carefully, at first we weren't much taken by the selection, we were pleased with the results. The mains included Bream/crab/Cullen skink, Plaice and brown shrimp and linguini. Very good indeed as we're the starters and especially the sticky toffee pudding. When we go again I will miss out on the starter and have two desserts! The Three Choirs Rosé went extremely well with the fish (£35). Including the tip all in for £238, £50pp exc the wine. About right we thought. Lovely place to just wander afterwards. Shame it was such a dull day.
