Lovely food, brilliant service can't do enough for you

Lovely village pub with comfy chairs and a wood burner. Super friendly service. Just had a brilliant homemade pie and free drink (Thursdays) 29/3 - the beef shin with horseradish mash and braised red cabbage - amazing!

Very pleasant surroundings food was lovely my only disappointment was for a table of 2 not being told they charging a service charge. My belief of service charge is optional unless a large group

Not much to say really, everything was excellent. Waitresses were very polite & attentive, food was very nice (and piping hot) and good value for money. Enjoyable lunch in a really nice atmosphere, will definitely return.

The pub itself is lovely,the staff are brilliant and very friendly. unfortunately the food prices let it down ,the sharing platter for £24 was well enough for two ,the meals they were a good size but not hot ,we did bring up about the belly pork nibbles on the platter being all fat and no meat and got a response of oh sorry ok .

Pleasant surroundings, clearly updated in recent years, good food, reasonably priced & personable staff. Has had its ups & downs in recent years, but getting back to it's brilliant best of 30 yrs ago. Anybody else remember the lamb hocks the size of a joint that spent 4/5 hrs cooking?

Had a lovely lunch there on Monday. Very quiet, so good service. Very reasonable prices, tasty food and generous portions. Lots of park, good access for all and dog friendly.

Don’t normally leave reviews but we were let down with our visit here this Sunday. After reading the reviews online we had high expectations that unfortunately weren’t met. For the price you’re paying you get 2 small slices of meat (beef in our case) which was very fatty. The potato’s were hard and only slightly warm. Overall the food was very mediocre, that being said the staff were lovely and very attentive which definitely improved our experience.

Food selection not very inspiring for us, took a long time to place our order but service was fine after that. Slow cooked beef rib was distinctly average as was the fillet steak. Chicken Schnitzel was dry. Beer and wine fine. Overall on the pricey side.

Such a lovely little village pub, stopped at passing through for dinner and had the most delicious meals! Had the pork belly starter as a chefs special, fish and chips and burger and everything we ate was so yummy. Matt our server was so helpful, friendly, attentive and approachable. Would definitely visit again!

We visited The Bell Inn to enjoy their sunday menu - The roast dinner was spectacular. Generous portion size, particularly with regards to the meat, where other restaurants would often scrimp. Potatoes / Vegetables were seasoned to perfection, and the extras were tasty too. The staff welcomed us heartily on arrival, and were attentive throughout - they even provided complimentary parsnip crisp. Real cozy village pub feel on the inside too, proper family like. I would recommend anyone in the area make the trip to the Bell Inn.

Had Camembert sharer for starters, with nice pickles and assorted bread. Chicken Satay and the Cajun Salmon for mains, served on interesting couscous and rice respectively . All was very good, well cooked and good size portions, The only improvement might have been a little more paprika in the Cajun crust, but I know you don't want to overpower the delicate flavour of the fish. The lady who was front of house was lovely.

Lovely Sunday roast , But roast potatoes could have been crisper. Our waiter David was so lovely with or large party , but I thought the assistant manager could have worn a smile and been a little more customer friendly

That was a really nice pub, in a scenic location. We ordered chicken Sunday roast. We received way more chicken then we expected for the money. The food was of a high standard. The staff were lovely. Highly recommended

Called in here just on the off chance. We wanted a decent sandwich with real bread! The chicken a bacon was sooo good. My husband had a home made black pudding sausage pasty off of the specials board. Staff were excellent, wine and beer good too. Highly recommended.

OK but food patchy,slow service

2nd time visiting. Drinks order was wrong. Ordered food, it was repeated back. They got one meal wrong, and missed two items off 5 meals, had to ask for them. What we had was good but it spoilt it for a family day out. Discount was added for inconvenience. Will give it one more try.

Hadn't been for many years and certainly won't be leaving it that long! Food was awesome, service was superb. After mentioning it was my mother's birthday the day before they surprised us with an extra dessert and singing- such a lovely touch - she was thrilled. Thank you to all the staff for a great visit.

The best food and service I have had in a long time. The chicken tagliatelle was so flavorful and a generous portion. Good atmosphere in the pub itself and decor was beautiful. 100%recommend for real foodies.

Had a fantastic experience at the bell inn yesterday with my wife and her friends. We just had a light lunch but the food was top quality, tasty and well-presented. If we’re ever in the area again we’d definitely come back

Just had today a great Sunday lunch with all my family for my birthday. The food was outstanding, the staff excellent and even had a birthday surprise with staff singing a happy birthday, small cake and candle. Highly recommend The Bell.

Noise levels way over the top couldn't hold a conversation. Food average.

Lovely ambiance, great log burner, but the prices for drinks are a little on the high side. Two 175ml glasses of Picpoul and a packet of crisps? £19. They don't offer a small 125ml size either, which is a shame and perhaps something they could look at bearing in mind the pressure on purses these days. A better range of zero alcohol beer would be welcome too. There is a Heineken option, but there are far better ones out there.

Good pub, good people and excellent service. Not cheap, a bit high end for me but great once in a while if you want to be looked after.

Such a lovely pub that is deceptively big. We had never been to this one before, although we had been to a few other Freespirit pubs. There was a warm greeting at the door, quick service and absolutely delicious food. We were even treated to a free taster of homemade tortilla chips and spicy houmous - divine! Even better that we got 5% off due to a Christmas voucher. Would definitely go again

Pleasant staff and prompt food service but rather a long wait for drinks at the table. My fish dish was a bit tepid and under-seasoned.

Just called in today 16/10/22 at approximately 13:15hrs asked if they had a table which too our surprise they had, I ordered the half of roast chicken dinner with all the vegetables and Yorkshire pudding and my wife had the belly pork with all the trimmings aswell and we both were extremely satisfied with our Sunday dinner it was the best Sunday roast we have eaten in a long time. We would both recommend this establishment for a Sunday roast and the staff could not do enough for us thank you very much.

We booked a table on line the first time available was 5.00pm I thought well that's a bit late but it must mean they are busy which is a good sign however there was only one table occupied , the waitress did say if we had rang they could have got us in earlier . I was really excited to try the 74 pound steak and seafood sharer for 2 as we had been given a recommendation but we were told that they only serve the Sunday menu I was quite disappointed and said they should make it clear on there website that that was all that was available to buy the waitress who gave us the menus which was the full range did not say anything about this at the time .we ordered a camambert as sharing starter which was very nice I had the beef and my partner had the pork which was also very nice although the pigs in blankets stuffing balls and cauliflower cheese was extra which I feel is totally unnecessary and added to the price I have past my views to the waitress . But overall the food was very good

I guess I'm not the only one that's driven between Southam and Banbury and seen the little brown side at the side of the road saying 'The Bell Inn' and wondered for a moment what it's like. Well now I know, was having an evening drive with my partner, no fixed meal ideas for the evening and heading north away from Banbury towards Southam on a Tuesday evening - there was that brown sign again. So arrived, parked up at the front and noticed some tables under the tree next to a stream, nice thoughts for a baking hot summer evening. Walked in asked for a table, was warmly greeted and shown to a table at the rear, fenced with red-roses and nicely shaded. The interior seating looked distinctly upscale, proper gastro pub standard. Ordered drinks. My partner chose a Seafood Medley starter, I opted not to have anything, just going for a main course. A plate of bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil arrived with a jug of water (not asked for), tasty. The starter arrived with a side plate for me, a thoughtful gesture and appreciated because the starter was indeed a generous portion. Garnished with a king prawn, some kind of crab meat mix, bread, salmon and salad and a chunk of lemon - it was tasty! My partner ordered the baked cod on boiled potatoes and asparagus with a simply divine sauce. I ordered a battered haddock and chips, mushy peas and a tartar sauce that probably had diced gherkin in it along with a huge slice of lemon. Unusually, these days, the food was delivered with grace and style on piping hot plates too. My partner cleared her plate and I can admit to running some of my remaining chunky chips around her plate to savour the fantastic sauce again. Was a lovely meal, perfect service and an all round outstanding experience. We will be back.

Sunday lunch...expensive for mediocre meal. Carrot and swede mash is like a puree without any taste and when in contact with the gravy is just like a pool of baby food. Meat lovely but all in all too expensive for what you get.

Visited here today for the first time, from the moment we arrived to the time we left The friendly service from all staff was fault less and nothing was too much trouble. We had a drink in the bar before sitting in the dining room to eat Well stocked bar with plenty of choice. The dining area very well laid out with plenty of room and comfortable seating. We were offered complimentary warm bread and balsamic vinegar and oil. When we asked for some puréed vegetables for our grandson who has only just stated eating solids we were happy to pay but they came with no charge. It was our Son’s birthday and a complimentary birthday plate was bought out to him after our meal. Pleasant little touches which made our experience very special indeed Well done to you all great friendly efficient service. Will definitely return
