Has been a great village pub for the last 6 years, sadly within weeks of being sold and now under St Austell brewery ownership, I can safely say it has retreated to being an absolute shambles. Absolute shame and I hope the new owners, landlord and management turn things back around quickly. So things have improved with the not unexpected turnover of new staff as management gets to grips with things so have modified my score upwards accordingly.

Well booked here as seeing friends and wanting to treat my partner after upsetting time. As been pub before and is nice. Staff friendly and welcoming on arrival. Was a bit taken back that had to pre-order breakfast on check in. So went to room and after paying £120 was expecting a lovely room. Had to save money. I was very disappointed at room soon as went in. Cold on arrival. Shower in bedroom just inside door. No wardrobe just 4 coat hangers so would been a nightmare if been staying longer. Well the standard of the room was disgusting. Filthy. Carpet not been hoovered as crumbs on the floor. I walked around in shoes the whole time. So take slippers. Cobwebs all around the window and window slats which also very dusty. Bathroom sink dirty behind taps and black hairs and dust behind toilet brush. Vents not been cleaned ever. Toilet roll holder hanging off. Tiles dirty and shower could do with proper clean. Radiator put on and couldn't turn down. Had a humming in bedroom all night. So went for breakfast and informed housekeeper about noise. Another couple had same thing. Breakfast was a disaster. After chef asking if wanted meat or vegetarian sausages. I said meat and still bought vegetarian. Another couple poached egg was raw. Housekeeper came and apologised to us all and said Email manager. I did inform her of filthy room. She been doing job for years apparently well think she needs training. Absolutely disgusted at Manager for not getting back to me after Email. I would not recommend this place for staying. Wouldn't let my dog stay here. Food in the evening was nice. Apart from oh so creamy sauce not creamy. Barman/Waiter Irish was really nice and very helpful and friendly. So upset as looking forward to staying here. And room under metal stairs so noisy when people going up and down. I've stayed in nicer 2* hotels..

Relatively good customer service however unfortunately we were disappointed to arrive for Christmas meal only to find out we had to pre-order. Bit of a shame this wasn't clearly advertised at the point of booking rather than hidden at bottom of the menu. We ordered alternative meals which were okay but considering the price I was expecting a lot more than just average pub food. Also the portion size of the beef bourgignon was poor. All in all, slightly overpriced for what we received but certainly had worse elsewhere so distinctly average. Lovely ambience and nice staff so great for a drink or two. Improve the food service and this pub could do wonders!

Dinner for four. Staff catered well for unusual dietary requirements and managed to be attentive enough despite it being a busy night. Pizza was excellent and recommended. The only"observation" is that it was a bit too bright, I think someone got carried away with the LED bulbs!

What a fabulous pub. We walked in from a wet, cold and windy night to a warm friendly welcome. The pub was full of locals (always a good sign) and the atmosphere was perfect with a super open fire burning in the grate and the wood fired pizza oven in full swing. The food was delicious with really good portion sizes. Menu had an extensive range of pizzas and some great pub food staples. Service was quick, warm and friendly. Would highly recommend.

We were a party of 30 who had pre-booked a Christmas meal. The three course meal was priced at £37 per person. The meal and service was TERRIBLE. The turkey and stuffing was canned, we were given about four small roast potatoes per person and a tin of watery vegetables served out an old tin pot that included boiled carrots, Brussel sprouts and red cabbage. The pudding was even worse. The roulade was such a thin slice it was nearly an insult. On top of this the drinks were highly overpriced. A fizzy water (just a glass) cost £3.50. The service was dreadful. There were very young people serving you hadn’t served or worked their before. They didn’t seem to have a clue. I do not recommend this pub at all. Stay clear otherwise you will be disappointed.

We came here for a Christmas party. The service was slow and unhelpful, staff couldn't answer any questions about the food when asked. The food itself was served in very small portions and not tasty while being very expensive. Everyone in our party was disappointed and none of else will be returning!

The Bell must be commended for the wonderful ambience, service, range of beers, and on this occasion I must in particular commend their pizzas, of which my parents both enjoyed, as did I, mine being the Panang Perfecto!

Would highly recommend this pub for excellent food, service and friendly staff, will definitely return

We had Pad Thai and Beef Bourguignon and they were superb . good portions nicely presented. New management have improved Quality and Service. Seating in Restaurant area needs updating it's a bit like being in infant school. Bar area a little better. 16/11/24

Delicious stop off for lunch on our road trip. We had the fish & chips which were so tasty. A lovely stop if you’re in the area and looking for a pint or a bite to eat! Thank you, Martin for the kind hospitality!

Great food, plenty of choice, generous portion sizes, beautifully presented. Surroundings are very clean and tidy. Friendly bar and waiting staff offering prompt service. Busy at lunchtime but not oppressively noisy.

Burgers are great, brilliant service really nice people.

Table for two at lunchtime. I know this is unavoidable for all restaurants and in some ways its a good sign but I arrived here at 11:40am for a 12am booking to be met with a strong smell of disinfectant. Maybe its just my sensitive nose. By the time we ate at 12 40 the smell had all but dissipated. Not sure what you could do about that, maybe it was my timing. Two excellent rump steaks followed by STP with custard and a chocolate brownie with custard were excellent. My steak was maybe a bit fatty but it didnt spoil it. Much to recommend about this olde pub, especially the massive stone slab flooring.

So we called last minute on a friday as a party of 10 visiting the area, and they were so accommodating! They fitted us in, in a room almost to ourselves despite being heaving. There was a great vibe (some may say noisy), which we loved, but it did quieten down shortly after. The food was exceptional! It was easily one of the best Thai greens I've ever had. It was remarkable, but everything was great. The pizzas were soft and delicious, even the gluten-free ones! Only tiny criticism was the prawn and crayfish cocktail, which was maybe a tad overpriced for the size and content but was still good. Was such a great place we tried to book again for Saturday but no joy, unfortunately. The pic of the food doesn't do it justice, but we will definitely be back, and you should go too! Right now.... stop reading and book... go on, do it!

Lovely rooms and very good service. The walls are a little thin as my son pointed out to us at breakfast!! 🙈🤣

Dinner with a group on Monday evening. There was a lovely friendly atmosphere, everyone enjoyed their meal. We will certainly visit again.

Great stop off the A303 or M5. lovely food and drink in a great local pub atmosphere.

Did not stay so can't comment on rooms. Would have scored five stars but lost one due to the long wait for the main course after we had the starters.

Was visiting the area and decided to call-in and we weren’t disappointed. Lovely country pub, nicely decorated, friendly staff and fabulous food. we had two dogs with us and were made very welcome. We both had the burger which was delicious home-made crumbly burger not solid like you get some places and very very tasty. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely lovely pub! Great food expecially the pizzas! Lovely staff and very accommodating. Managed to get a table on a walk in which for a busy pub was very helpful! Very local pub vibes which is great!

Seriously impressed with this pub. Found it looking for a midway point for lunch on way to Devon. Food far exceeded expectations. Sandwiches are no ordinary sandwiches, excellent ingredients. Very generous portions and high quality food. Even sauce sachets were Stokes and great quality. The service and staff were so hospitable. Highly recommend. Highly recommend this pub for lunch.

Stopped here for lunch and couldn't believe our luck. Food so tasty, beautifully presented. Service absolutely perfect, friendly and helpful. Located in a pretty well kept village the building and decor are exquisite. We live 150 miles away and will make sure we return. Highly highly recommend!!

A very good local pub with excellent pub food. The local cider on tap is a must.

Had a stunning meal out here the other day with friends. I’m a steak guy usually but thought I’d mix it up and try something different. So I went for the Thai curry, which was really good. So much so I’m going to try and cook it myself!

Often pop in for an excellent pint on the way home from work on a Monday. The beers are well kept, the staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is good. They have an interesting, reasonably priced menu, which I must try sometime.

A delicious meal today, with all six of us leaving very full and satisfied. We had vegetarian and non-gluten requirements in our party and the menu offered plenty of options for both. Dough balls, halloumi and spring rolls were all great starters, and the pizzas, GF fish and chips and mushroom burgers all went down a treat. Very friendly service and a nice dining room. Would definitely visit again.

We stayed one night at Pub the Bell at Broadway. Very welcoming pub. Top notch atmosphere. The service was perfect for the meal and breakfast. Delicious food. Very friendly staff with children. Games corner. Kids friendly. We had asked to add an extra bed for a child. The room was a bit small but for one night it was sufficient. Very clean sheets and towels. Good bedding. We will come back.

Great atmosphere and lovely food.

First time me and my other half and visited and after work we decided to go in. It wasn’t overly busy and we were told food would start at 6pm. We were given a table off of the bar area. The lady who initially served us was lovely. We ordered food and when we said to the lady the mac and cheese was overpowered by mustard and it was inedible she said “well not much I can do” food was disappointing for the price and despite not hardly having a full meal we paid for both. The people stood at the bar were very loud and the conversation was at times awkward due to what was being discussed but due to the volume of the conversation we could not avoid it. Left feeling disappointed and sad to say we would not recommend or go back.

The room was very small and configured a bit awkwardly but it worked for us. All of the staff were absolutely lovely and did us well for everything we needed. Lovely pub and great food too.
