Idami in South Somerset

Food was bland, chips greasy! Had food from here before and usually it's lovely? But today it was awful. Won't use this again

Wow first time I ordered tonight and food was amazing and amazingly presented!!

Great takeaway, something a bit different, quality food, reasonable prices and delivery times. This is well worth a try if you fancy a change from the usual Indian or Chinese takeaway

working in Yeovil for a few days and chose this place based upon previous reviews - tbh, very easy to just walk past without giving a second glance but so pleased I gave this takeaway a try - friendly lady taking the orders and also doing the cooking - a mix of Chinese and Japanese dishes using the freshest of ingredients and there was a wide and varied menu. Went for the chicken satay starter which was the best I’ve ever had - proper chicken on skewers with a fabulous satay sauce served in a separate pot - superb. For mains I had the Japanese king prawn curry with noodles and chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce - again, it was superb and the portions were huge. Having enjoyed the food on the first night of my stay I decided to visit again on night two - again, I went for the superb chicken satay starters followed by the beef with garlic and ginger teriyaki bento box which included Japanese boiled rice, vegetable gyoza, wakame and edamame - a fantastic, flavoursome meal and all highly recommended. Looking forward to my next visit to Yeovil.

Wide range of Chinese, Japanese and Hong Kong dishes, it makes me feel very satisfied. We love their fried rice and noodles, especially delicious. We will definitely come back to order again.

Ordering for first time, food ( sweet&sour chicken) was nice and super fast delivery. I wish there was normal plain rice on the menu🙂

We had 4 takeaway meals delivered The 3 chow mein meals pork, chicken and beef had hardly any meat in very poor for the price Spring rolls had no bean sprouts in and we all had the sh-ts the following morning I'll be avoiding this one

Very friendly and the food tastes very good, especially the Sin Chew fried rice and sweet and sour chicken.

We had house special Chow mein. Absolutely delicious and plenty of it. We will definitely be back.

Was actually really sad to have a bad experience with Idami tonight, as our first experience was great. Prawn crackers were stale, satay sauce was just oil and tasteless, the chicken balls were full of stodgy batter and felt that they were either too coated or not cooked long enough. the chili beef and pad Thai were both inedible. Spent £40 and ended up not being able to eat it. Shame really

1st time of eating takeout at this place at it didn't disappoint at all.. WOW.! Seafood Ramen, Octopus balls, Japanese boiled rice and vegetable gyoza. Bloody 10/10🍜🍚🐙 stunning. This place is definitely worth a visit. I checked 1st of all that what I was going to order wasn't spicy and the lady assured me it wasn't.. And it wasn't at all. PERFECT.. Will be back again.

We have used Idami countless times before and always been satisfied. This evening’s meal, a Monday, was very disappointing. In particular, my Hot and Sour soup looked like it had been made from stringy, shreds of left-over pork scraps and little else. It had barely any veg, or much else to be honest. Quite simply a tasteless mush and by far, the worst hot and sour soup I have ever had anywhere! With all the 5* reviews on here, I hope they are not getting complacent and dropping their standards. Let’s hope that this is just a one off .

Ordered a take out for the first time this evening. So glad we had the flyer through the door. Wakame, Takoyaki, Pad Thai and Ribs. Absolutely delicious. Delivery was great. We're certainly be gong back and will look at eating in next time. Already recommended to friends 😊

Good sized portions. We ordered a delivery for £4 as staying in holiday cottage in Mudford Sock and driver found it no problem. The food seemed like it was a fusion mix. The chicken in spicy chilli sauce was too over powering and had a bean curd taste. The bento box had korean seaweed with it. Best dish was the salt and pepper prawns which were delicious (£8.40)

Absolutely appalling service and food. Food was bad and all falling out of containers and bags. Then when we asked for the money back they said they would only if we changed our bad review on their ordering site to a positive one. They wanted us to lie and say it was a good experience so that we could have our money back! Really disappointing.

Best Chinese I've ever had. Yes, it's that good! Since we tried idami we only order Chinese from them! Quick delivery, and amazing food. Highly recommend it.

Quaint little Japanese and Chinese takeaway and restaurant. Brilliant food at a great price and a short wait for it too! I had the teriyaki beef bento box and the chicken udon which were both packed to the brim and amazingly tasty. Would highly recommend for a takeaway!

All in all, it taste really good.. we ordered duck fried rice (oh the duck pieces was huge!!), spicy pork ribs with egg fried rice (again the ribs cuts is plenty), beef vermicelli (delicious), and the chicken gyoza is delicious too.. keep up the good work!! Will definitely going back.. and the service is excellent!! We have it for take away, and they greeted us with a smile.. thank you!!!

Tried this Chinese takeaway for the first time tonight, collected food and was ready exactly when they said . One of the best quality Chinese takeaways we have ever had , very tasty and good quality, Will definitely be our first choice next time as quality was way above other Chinese takeaways we have tried locally and some of the Japanese dishes look good .

What sets this place apart from the multitude of other chinese takeaways, is the quality. Seems much fresher and higher quality ingredients, more to restaurant quality food. Dont ever cut corners or cheap out as this is what sets you apart! The website online ordering is also great and easy to use

The best Takoyaki! Food has never disappointed

Disappointing. Overcooked prawn crackers, soggy chips in a wet paper bag, curry sauce runny as water. The beef in black bean tasted good but very little sauce. The edamame beans were the only saving grace. Previous orders have been better so hopefully it was just a blip.

This is the first time that we have ordered food from idami and we were not disappointed. The delivery was punctual and food was still hot. Food was presented nicely. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely order again

Really great find in Yeovil and the Japanese curry and gyozas are totally comparable with Wagamamas. As with most takeaways, the minimum order for delivery is pretty high but I guess just treat yourself to an extra dish or two…!

First time tried this highly raved place! Tried the takoyaki balls which is my favourite in Japan. Wow to my amazement, it tastes exactly the same ! Really amazing 🤩 The teriyaki chicken is so delicious ! Thumbs up! Really Michelin star food at a fraction of the price ! Will definitely come back for more ! Highly recommended

The best take away food for miles around. Have tried so many different items on the menu and enjoyed all of them. Best so far was Japanese breaded chicken curry. Same as katsu curry

Having heard the food here was top drawer, from a few friends, I decided to order from the Japanese Bento menu. I can confirm the food and service was amazing!! I will be a return customer and recommend to friends.... Great work guys 👌👌

Tofu curry Bento Box, salt and chilli spare ribs and Malaysian special fried rice. Brilliant. Food was delicious, hot and ready for pick up in 15mins. Best special fried rice I’ve had.

Food was great, I’d recommend. We normally use the New world but choose somewhere different as it was closed.

Pepper sauce bento boxes, King prawn and a beef with a side of their amazing chicken gyoza. Ready in 10 minutes and bloody amazing taste, value everything. If you haven't tried them get on it 👌😍

The food is outstanding, friendly staff fast service I have recommended them to several people, and as a local taxi driver they are quite often my go to meal before I start my night shifts.

T had chicken chowmein, egg fried rice and bbq sauce and honestly was the best takeaway i’ve had. My friend had chicken udon and salt and pepper ribs and she loved it too. The service was so amazing and the staff was lovely. Would recommend to everyone!

Had it twice in one week with my boyfriend who came down for 10 days and both of us were obsessed constantly talking qbout getting more of it. The pork was so tender, tasted absolutely gorgeous. Fully recommend ANY of the spicy chilli and garlic dishes such amazing flavour in the ones we tasted (pork and duck) Definitely recommended to everyone now and the portion sizes are so good for the prices.

Myself and my daughter love this place, we have tried a lot of different dishes and they are yummy, from the ramen to the bento boxes. The staff are OK and the place is clean.

This place is a hidden gem! We live in a nearby village and have been looking for a good takeaway for years - this is the place! Excellent service, great tasting food and cooked well and to a high standard. I’ll definitely be using them again and wish them the best as they clearly care about what they are dishing out 👌

Omg soooo goooood!!!! I only learned about Idami a few days ago and I HAD to order when I saw the menu!! As soon as I saw Korroke (which I haven't had for 3 odd years) I was in! Ordered tonight and had the Korroke, Takoyaki and Terriaki prawns with sticky rice.....yaaaaas!!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰

I ordered a delicious Breaded Porkchop Bento Box and Takoyaki Squid Balls. I guess, I am missing the taste of authentic Japan. I need not go there anymore as I found this little gem right here in Yeovil. Thank you so much for adding a new and delightful food memory for me. Food has always been a source of joy and comfort during winter season.

Ordered a takeaway from Idami when I visit a friend in Yeovil last week. I'm really pleased with the meals. I had a roasted duck barbecue sauce with noodle which I find very nice. He quality were different from average chinese takeaway. (more to restaurant quality) we actually ordered quite a bit of foods and I dare to say they are pretty nice no complaints. A another dish I would like to recommend is the aubergine nasu dengaku which I have fall for. Will definitely order from them again.

Best Japanese night ever! I ordered these takeaway/bento boxes to celebrate my birthday with my family from London. Great meals and the Aubergine Nasu Dengaku & Tempura were amazing (sweet miso dressing and sesame seeds in particular), amazing dumplings ( gyoza ) and great ramen/noodles. The Salmons were particularly tasty. Japanese food is considered to be low calorie and healthy ( I'm pegetarian ) For unpretentious Japanese home-style cooking dishes and well-made Bentos. All the ingredients are fresh. Meet the Chef Uncle Lim Malaysia-born chef Lim has worked in some of London's top Japanese kitchens over 20 years of experience. Overwhelming front desk ladies Vicky, Yoyo and Chloe. If you're looking for authentic Japanese with EXCELLENT service this is the place. This is one of my favourites in Yeovil. You MUST come here!

very good food and good service, i am a regular customer at idami and the food is always nice. i had the pad thai and the teriyaki chicken, and both tasted very authentic and fresh. it is nice having a nearby thai and japanese takeaway as there are not many around here and it saves having to go to london for good food. would definitely recommend!

Ordered from Idami for the first time tonight and they was absolutely wonderful, they were fast, the food was delicious and I cannot fault their customer service. I got the pork ramen and some chicken gyoza which I swear were devine, the broth was super creamy and flavourful and stuck to the noodles so you could taste it with every bite, and the pork was so good I had to stop myself from eating it all before enjoying it with the rest of the dish. The gyzoa were super cripy on the outside and packed a major flavour punch on the inside, expertly made and were an awesome part of the meal. 10/10 I will 100% be back again
