The Belfray Country Inn Bistro in Derry

The food and service was very good. Good atmosphere. Very attentive staff. Special mention to Geraldine. The live music is an added bonus.

The Belfray is no longer on the main Belfast/Londonderry Road and is now by passed by the new Motorway. However the slight detour required to get to it is well worth while. The lunch carvery at £11.95 is terrific value with a choice of three meats and the usual extras. All meats were tasty and tender. There is also a light bites menu for those requiring something smaller. Staff attentive and friendly, its an ideal stop with free parking before going into or from the Maiden City.

Had a fantastic Sunday lunch in the Belfray. The atmosphere was great, the food first rate, fantastic quality meals that everyone enjoyed. The service was amazing, friendly welcome and attentive staff during our visit.

This was our first visit to this establishment , wow what a lovely restaurant, staff are very attentive without being annoying. The food was delicious and plenty of it at very reasonable prices. We had a large wheelchair and that sat as at a round table which was excellent for us. We will definitely be going back

Staff very slow at everything but food was nice and hot staff seem to be very under trained but they were pleasant no one seemed to know what the other was doing and took about 10 minutes waiting on a bbq sauce as I had too ask 2 members of staff but would come back maybe at another time 🌞

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the carvery. The food was quite good 7/10 , the price was very good. Having read a few reviews I was a bit nervous about the hospitality here as some reviewers claimed the customer service levels to be poor enough , we found the opposite , the staff were excellent , super organised , extremely helpful and very pleasant , to be honest the staff made this experience a first class one. We would definitely return again. Staff 10/10.

Immaculate place to eat. Staff are super friendly. Food is amazing. Highly recommended. Something for everybody on the menu. Nothing is a bother to staff. Portion sizes are more than adequate. Plenty of parking which I love. Definitely be back.

We had take away roast dinners for Christmas Day from the Belfray Country Inn and they were delicious! We cannot praise the chef and the staff in the Belfray Country Inn enough, they are always welcoming and efficient whenever we are there and we cannot wait to come back.

We have never stayed in the Belfray but have had lunch and dinner many times. Got a takeaway dinner for my family from the carvery part a few weeks ago. As always their food is outstanding. It never fails. The price is very good. Highly recommend this to anyone.

We as a family are regulars here for birthday celebrations of all ages . The service and food has always been good in a relaxed comfortable atmosphere.

Twice I've been in for a takeaway carvery and twice I've been greeted with absolutely horrible customer service. One of the bar staff asked us if we were "okay" and I replied with "yep just in for a takeaway dinner" she then turned to the till to round up two dinners without even asking if we've paid or if it was together or separate? she asked for the full amount for two dinners and I said it's separate payments and her attitude to redo the payment was awful and we both had to tell her it was card as she stood there just waiting for money and no card machine. We then moved onto actually getting the food and the male chef his attitude and customer service was just as bad as the bar staffs. The worst was was the female chef with black hair I remember how terrible she was from the first time I was in for dinner I smiled a few times because she made eye contact with me and her face had the most disgusted look on it, like if you hate your job and greetings customers that much change it! she told us there was bags to wrap our own dinners up and there was one left inside a basket of cutlery and a bag hanging on the wall which looked to have napkins or something inside she didn't even say that bag had the bags inside it instead she sighed heavily grabbed more bags came out round the counter and snapped each bag individually from the tag to put inside the bag hanging on the wall, that situation would've been avoided if we were told that's were the bags were being kept. I came back the second time for food because it was lovely the first time but after this I'll never give you my custom again I'd highly advise your staff to re-evaluate how they treat customers coming into a "four star" hotel.

I have heard about the belfery from my friend Sean. I booked the belfery for Sunday 10th and when we ordered the soup it came out cold others ordered prawn cocktail and they got the wrong sauce. Then we went to the carvery it was like a dogs dinner we shall never be back

Me and my boyfriend loved this place the room was lovely the bed was so comfortable went down stairs for dinner that night the food was really lovely we would definatly be back again

Ordered a Sunday dinner for take out and got the order completely wrong! I asked for no stuffing and only to hear the chef mocking my order as I did not want any stuffing! Not very professional! Not hard to get order correct and not to pass judgement on customer requests! Won’t be back !

We came here to celebrate my mother in laws birthday. We usually come here for carvery and we love it so thought the menu would be just as good. We were sat down pretty quick, but 5/10 minutes passed before anyone came to take our food order, no drink order taken but we didn’t mind. We then waited 20 minutes for our mains, it was a party of 5 so we weren’t too worried about the wait. We had finished dinner and our plates then sat on our table for 35 minutes. There wasn’t a single member of staff anywhere in sight. We did see who looked to be the manager and asked her for dessert menus to which she said ‘yeah they’ll bring them to you’. Someone eventually came to take our plates away but only took half and the rest left there. After another 15 minutes I called a member of staff and asked if he could get us dessert menus we’d already asked for and if the rest of our plates could be lifted. This particular staff member didn’t seem to like that I had asked him to do this as he was extremely rude the rest of our experience. My 40 year old disabled aunt had asked for a black coffee and he brought it down with a pot of milk to which she replied she didn’t want milk and he proceeded to puff at her and roll his eyes. I couldn’t believe the attitude he had. The dessert took another 10 mins to come out and by this stage we all wanted to get out of there. Not surprisingly, there wasn’t a single member of staff or management present as we were leaving so we couldn’t express our unhappiness. Regardless if there was a wedding or party on, there should be enough staff on to make sure every guest has a pleasant experience. We used to love the Belfray but after tonight I don’t think we’ll be back in a hurry.

This evening we celebrated a birthday dinner for two family members, and were left very disappointed at the Belfray Hotel.We were a group of 12, and were greeted with dirty glasses for our water. Some had finger prints and had lipstick on the rim.We were told how it worked; starters were table service and the main would be a carvery. I ordered melon and it was more of a fruit salad, with two grapes and a slice of kiwi.The carvery was okay, portion size was good and the chef was nice.From there on, it began to slip.They let us bring in a cake, but didn't give us cutlery or plates so we ended up using napkins from our main courses.As we were leaving, we had to wait a long time to sort out the bill. only one till was open, and bar staff were not eager to help out. Bar staff were not very nice and then told us after we waited that we couldn't split the bill. We explained we were never told that, to which he said that it was on our receipt, which we didn't get... And made it feel like it was our fault that they didn't give us a receipt. It should be clearly printed in the restaurant.This left a very sour taste in our mouth and we will not be returning. For 12 people to leave so disasitified, it's clear something needs to change here.

Went with 8 family members, 2 of which were children. Had a short wait until tables became available but that's to be expected on a Sunday. When we were seated we were served juices and given menus (inc kids)as I am a vegetarian and wasnt eating the carvery. The serving staff all quite young and there weren't enough of them. All my family had eaten their meals and me and two youngsters couldn't even get service to order our meals until 30 minutes of waiting. They became irate as time ticked by as hungry kids do. The rest of family left us to eat our food as they didn't want to wait around. My kids wanted a dessert and my husband asked the young waiter for a menu. After waiting 15 mins for the dessert menu that never came we cut our losses and left with disappointed kids in tow. Was very unpleasasant and unrelaxed dining experience. Won't be returning again. It's not like they need our custom as the place was packed...maybe need to invest in more waiting staff and train the ones they have to acknowledge how long their customers have been sitting waiting to order.

Very good quality food and service. The room was bright and airy and the food was plentiful. Car parking is widely available.

We got a very good welcome when we arrived. Poor quality food and terrible service. Packet soup and the steaks were very tough. We were very disappointed. Being defensive when you are getting advice will not work long term.

Went with friends for an evening meal. Very mediocre. Accompaniments of sauce had obviously been sitting made up as skin had formed on top. Likewise the coleslaw looked inedible. Dessert was the same. Restaurant was better in the past. Won't recommend or hurry back.

Stopped enroute to Donegal for Breakfast at approx 11.30am on 8th June 2019, kindly told that their wonderful carvery (eaten this many times before) started at noon however we wanted to get back on the road so decided to order breakfast. Received our tea and toast very quickly, we did notice our gentleman server was not the most pleasant, maybe it was our different accents. Breakfast arrived very promptly which delighted us until we seen the plates. Over 50% of it had been deep fat fried, those items were the mushrooms, black pudding, white pudding, sausage, soda bread and potato bread, this left the slice of bacon beans and tomatoes and the fried egg. No way could I eat all that fried food. I pointed this out to our servers, he informed me he would bring it to the chef attention, what I wanted him to do was offer me an alternative breakfast as I was still hungry!!!!!

Left the b'day meal booking up to my brother and we were not disappointed.. really nice decor (typical country hotel).

We decided to call in and try somewhere we haven’t been. My husband decided to have the carvery which he enjoyed and I order from the menu, chilli chicken pasta!! He finishes his carvery and 45 minutes later my food arrives. Before the waiter even sits it down you can smell the curry sauce. The waiter sits it down and walks away. So we both try it and yes it’s pasta made with curry sauce!!We call the waiter over and he takes it away, comes back and says we can make you the correct one and take it off your bill I politely decline and say I don’t want anything. We get up to the pay the bill and the ‘manageress?’ Continues to say the chef said its definitely chilli sauce.....I don’t mind if people be honest and say look we have no chilli sauce and make it with something else but to try and fob me off with it’s definitely chilli sauce.....seriously.Very disappointed with food and service!

It’s been a long time since my family went along to a Sunday carvery so this really felt like a treat. We popped along without booking just before the ‘rush’. It was pretty full but we were given a table for four immediately. We opted for the carvery (that’s why we were there). The meat (turkey, ham, beef) was well-cooked. The accompaniments (all the vegetables, potato sides, gravy, Yorkshire puddings) were excruciatingly disappointing and let the whole experience down. On a positive note, the busy staff were friendly and helpful. There are notices all-over the bar, highlighting the Sunday Carvery as “award-winning”. Sadly, no.

Ate here as part of a 1 night stay with breakfast and dinner. I had a fish dish with the most delicious sauce. There was 2 good sized fillets of fish with plenty of sauce. Veg cooked the way I like it. Apple crumble for desert topped it off perfectly. I was surprised by the quality as it was part of a deal. The service was mostly really good. I did get a bit of Guinness spilt over me but the waitress was so apologetic and offered to take it off the bill. In this instance I told her not to worry. I didnt want her being charged for the drink out of her wages when only a mouthful was spilt. Would come back here if in Londonderry again.

I had dined here on a number of occasions and have had the hot carvery, which normally proved ok.

We have eaten here a few times and the food is nice never had a problem but this evening we stopped in and front desk was very helpful and got us a table straight away but after we had sat down service was awful so slow and not very attentive at all I had to ask could we order it took ages to arrive my partner had his pint drunk ages before the food we decided not to have dessert because of the wait I would go back if it was just the two of us but today we had my mum and the kids and I felt bad for them having to wait.

La habitación era de primera clase con todo lo que podrías desear. El único punto negativo sería que no hay dónde sentarse y leer o un bar para tomar una copa después de la comida. El único lugar donde puede sentarse es en el área de recepción, que es bastante pequeña. Personalmente, no creo que este sea el lugar al que llevarías a tu familia, ya que tampoco hay instalaciones de ocio.

Visitamos The Belfray con la familia para cenar y nos fuimos sintiéndonos muy decepcionados con la calidad de la comida y las descripciones incorrectas en el menú. El gran Yorkshire que debería haberse llenado con carne asada, puré y salsa, etc. resultó ser literalmente un pequeño y pequeño yorkie recalentado, con carne asada totalmente seca y recalentada con algunas verduras al vapor a un lado. Ciertamente no coincide con la descripción en el menú. El bistec de 12 onzas ciertamente no era un bistec de 340 g, y probablemente más como 200 g. Estaba hecha, seca y le faltaba sabor. El vino blanco era cálido y requería hielo. Definitivamente no recomendaría comer aquí.

Service very rushed, and duck very overcooked. We weren't asked how we would like our meat cooked. No cheeseboard option available for dessert.

A very convenient place to take a break after the glenshane pass. A busy popular place. We had coffees but the bistro was full with families enjoying thge carvery lunches. Clearly very popular for the local people, always a good sign.

Visited when touring the area. We enjoyed the Lamb Cutlets and Spicy Chicken Stir Fry. Friendly efficient service and relaxed atmosphere

This hotel is GREAT the staff very helpful and friendly and can not do enough for you, nothing is a problem what ever you need or requisite, this was our second visit this year and will be back for sure. The food is fantastic and plenty full, can not recommend this place enough definitely a 4 STAR rating in my view better than The Slieve Donard Hotel in Newcastle Co Down, if this hotel had a spa it would 5 STAR no problem

wir hatten im the belfray country inn, ein zimmer gebucht, und fanden nach einem langen tag, dass einfachste wäre im bistro des hotels zu essen, obschon ziemlich betrieb herrschte, es war im ballroom ein hochzeit. dass essen war lecker, sowie dass dessert auch, toller service.

On a glorious summers evening the restaurant was buzzing! All our food was delicious and the service was fantastic!

The Carvery gave you good size portions and the price is reasonable my teenagers ate off the menu and they enjoyed their food the wait staff is great

Went for lunch on Friday with my mother and sister. My sister got chicken goujons which came with a little side salad. The chicken goujons were pink,obviously not properly cooked. The lettuce had little insects scurrying all about it. Absolutely disgraceful and disgusting. How can a place like this get away with it. Only saving grace was the waiting staff. Fantastic.

Had a wonderful experience tonight celebrating our wedding anniversary.the front of house staff are so welcoming.Geraldine made the night for both of us making sure our meal was fantastic for us.this has made such an impression on both of us that we will make the belfray the restaurant of choice for us for all occasions.highly recommend this to family and all visitors.

Dit hotel ligt ca 6 km buiten het centrum van Derry, langs een doorgaande weg, maar geen last van het verkeer. Onze kamer was groot en netjes. Ontbijtbuffet vonden wij wat karig. Wel kan je van alles bestellen. Wij hebben een keer in het restaurant gegeten en waren dik tevreden. Hotel heeft geen aparte bar, je zit in het restaurant. Vriendelijk personeel. Als je de drukte van de stad wil mijden is dit hotel zeker een aanrader

Yesterday we had our Easter lunch at The belfray country inn.

My family and I went to the restaurant to try it. I got the sirloin steak which was mediocre and without a sauce. I later found out to get a sauce was an extra four pounds which I refused out of principle. At 20 pounds I would expect a complimentary sauce. The side of garlic fries were stodgy at best.

We went to the Belfry to have a meal to celebrate my mums birthday, we chose here as its local to us. I opted for the '' cock and bull combo'' as soon as it arrived i noticed i hadn't ordered a sauce for it, So i asked the waiter for pepper sauce, when he left to get it i cut into my chicken to begin eating with everyone else, as soon as i tasted it i knew it was off, i then lifted the whole escalope off the plate with my fork and smelt it, to which it smelt sour, i told everyone else at the table it was off, and let them all have a smell, my husband also tasted it and everyone agreed the chicken was bad. When the waiter returned with the pepper sauce i explained to him that the chicken was off, he asked did i want another and i told him no it was fine, i asked if i could just remove it from the plate, as to be honest after a mouthful of sour chicken i was kind of turned off the idea of more chicken. (This also turned everyone else off theirs.) That was fine he left, and we sampled everyone elses chicken to make sure it was OK, which it appeared to be. We carried on chatting and eating and the waiter came back. He said the chef told him to tell me ''your wrong, there's nothing wrong with the chicken it only came in yesterday and is dated to the 12th' I can only assume that the sole purpose of this encounter was to insinuate that i was a liar. I didn't particularly care when the chicken came in or what date it states on the packet, it was off. And this is something they should take up with the supplier of their meats not myself. I wouldn't have ordered the combo if i didn't want to eat the combo and I wouldn't have wanted the chicken removed from my plate if there was nothing wrong with it. I would have appreciated an apology for the fact i was served sour meat, and i would have expected the chef to speak to me himself instead of sending someone else to unnecessarily interrupt our already failing meal with accusations. After our meal my husband went to pay, upon his return i asked to him did they charge the full price for my combo, which they did, But he didn't mind paying as in his words ''its the last they'll ever receive from us''. My advice for anyone else going here for diner is smell and sample your meat before covering it in sauce and if something is wrong your best to say nothing as they don't want to know anyway.....

Lovely meal, good portion size and the service staff were excellent. It sounds like pub grub the menu but it exceeds that by a long way. The team were very welcoming and friendly.

My girlfriend and I have long been fans of the Belfray, however our meal this evening was far from our past experiences.

Reception first class ,into comfortable lounge for a glass of champagne. before a fantastic dinner food was amazing for the wedding, staff so pleasent and helpful. Then the music all the seats surrounding the dance floor kept everyone together brilliant well pleased

went here today with 4 other family members . your met at the bistro bar at the entrance where you have to choose a starter then pay the full balance and thats before you are seated ? confused! so as we were caught off guard by this backwards style of management and we where going to pay separate we were giving a bad attitude by the manager and was like just pick your starters and you can sort payment out at the table. we were all left to feel embarrassed like they didnt want us there infront of other waiting customers. food sloppy and felt like animals the way the carvery was served. oh the starters order they took at the door this MANAGER. well they actually came back to us as we were seated and took our starters order again so all that embarrassed at the door could have been avoided. worst restaurant i have ever been in for customer service and food . this was our second time there for me and my wife as 1st time was bad so though give them a 2nd chance. NEVER AGAIN . manager's attitude throughout was appallingly its a pity too as its a nice restaurant and has a lot of potential. your manager you have there the man in his 50s is ruining your business. so time to pay... go to the till where i will pay for 3 people and brother inlaw will pay for 2 people nd they presented me with the bill. i say ok ill pay for 3 and he will pay the other 2 ... the staff member said no we dont take partial billing u have to pay the full bill. i replied no charge ne for 3 and him for 2 ? mansger looked at me with again an unpleasant look and said to the staff member AHH GO ON THEN! 1 comment from our party during dinner was feels like we are eating prison food referung to the sloppiness and the atmosphere what we where experiencing. on the way out the staff member who took our payments was over heard saying to another staff member referring to the manager..HE IS UP THERE MAKING ME LOKK BAD. AVOID AT ALL COSTS . save yourself a few pound and go to McDonald's atleast there you will feel valued as a customer and it won't cost you nearly £100. what a shame .

Excellent afternoon tea, my daughters took my mother and myself for my mums 85th birthday, the staff as usual were lovely, even singing happy birthday with a sparkler in a pavlova for mum, the sandwiches and selection of pastries and cupcakes were out of this world, couldn't recommend it highly enough, definitely great value for money, can't wait to book again (hint hint hubby my birthday is in December)

Just returned from a fabulous carvery Sunday lunch at the Belfray. The whole experience was exceptional, superb food and service. Martin gave us 5 star service from start to finish and totally went the extra mile to make the meal and experience for our daughters! Extremely reasonable too, so impressed. Can't recommend highly enough. We'll be back very soon.

We went for a Sunday carvery. Food and service was brilliant.....except they tried to squash as many in as possbile which ruined the experience. Love it off peak....winter /autumn, but they don't value their all year round customer's who come back. Just want bum's on seats. But service and customer qualty suffer's....It 's starting to show.......

At belfray inn I received the carvery which was piled high and tasted lovely, my friend received the chicken goujons and chips, her chicken however tasted rubbery. The atmosphere was quite uncomfortable only one member of staff {Ryan} smiled during my service and the rest were miserable and made us feel unwanted.

stopped at this restraunt for lunch on the way to Buncrana, and were pleasantly surprised. The service was friendly and the surroundings pleasant. Both meals that we ordered were excellent (my wife tells me it was the best ceaser salad she has had in a very long time!) and the cost was reasonable. If in this neck of the woods again, will definately make a point of calling in here.

I would have preferred less noise from a large party of people who seemed to think they were the only guests but that is not the restaurant's fault, I suppose. What I was most impressed by was the wearing of gloves as the staff brought the plates to the table. That should be standard everywhere for many reasons, The staff, the wearers of these gloves, were very nice as well and that is important. The food was most pleasant and the portions ample. The toilets were also cleaned to a high standard.

Don't get me wrong the venue is lovely, albeit still the same old layout from the Inn at the Cross days. Service was good and staff very pleasant......Ordered the 19 oz fillet steak with pepper sauce and garlic fries and given the hype about the cuisine I was expecting something special. I was, however, disappointed. The steak was cooked to perfection but rather tasteless and bland. The pepper sauce wasn't anything to write home about, but at least the garlic fries tasted of garlic. There was a wedding reception ongoing at the time and this may explain the meal, however I won't be retuning for a second try

Had several trips to The Belfray whilst my mother was a patient in Altnagelvin. I had different members of the family with me each time. The food and service was excellent, whole experience first rate. Thankfully my mother is better. The little trips to The Belfray made an unpleasant experience much more bearable. We even brought her a take away.

The Sunday carvery is extremely well organized. The restaurant easily manages to handle the large numbers of people who come to enjoy their Sunday lunch or dinner at the Country Inn.There is a choice of roasts, plus a number of side dishes. Diners' plates leave the serving line piled high with delicious food.

Stopped for a quick lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Carvery was an option, but we only wanted a sandwich. Lots to chose from, had toasted sub rolls which were perfect, tasty, warm and filling. Fabulous friendly service.

I was staying at the Inn and wondered down for dinner. There were many good-sounding choices and I asked for the sea bass. In the US, sea bass is a huge fish, here it is much smaller and a bit more delicate. Cooked perfectly with an almost invisible thin batter. Nice crisp veggies too. Sorry that I couldn't do dessert because there were some great choices!

Have eaten here a few times in the past and has always been very good. Today I had my baby in her car seat. The gentleman looking after us took the car seat straight from me as soon as we got there and took us to a table with plenty of space and made sure the baby was out of the sun. Excellent family friendly service.

We arrived late afternoon, to have a dinner before the flight from Belfast Airport. We have chosen this Inn because it was in a countryside along the A2 route from Derry to Belfast and we wanted to fill little bit more Irish than touristic. The restaurant was almost empty but id didn't matter, probably even increase our good mood as drinks and meals were served in short time after the orders. The meals were truly delicious and quite a big portion each so we had no chances to try the desserts (i hope they are equally perfect as the main courses). But what makes our dinner special was the waiter. At the beginning we felt little bit prim but it soon faded away as we get in contact with crew. They are fantastic. Nether felt so welcomed and warm cared at any restaurant in Poland (while hospitality is in our nature) like in Belfry. From the greet until good bye. Thank You for that, we will remember it long. Also appreciate that the meals were served warm plates with white gloves and lot of natural smiles......

My partner and I have just come from having the Carvery at the Belfrey Country Inn. While we, and many others were eating our meal a member of staff began hoovering around us. It was difficult to enjoy our meal while someone is hoovering beside you and I found the same member of staff very rude when I enquired about the dessert menu. The food was delicious but unfortunately the service was very poor! :-(

The Belfray never disappoints, always excellent food and friendly service! Has become a regular choice for us when deciding where to eat out.

We stopped in for lunch on our way past, and were not disappointed! The food was lovely and generous in portion size. Reasonably priced too. The atmosphere in the bistro was nice, and our server Clive deserves a shout-out too for being really nice and friendly!

Called into for an evening meal, I thought the menu was a bit expensive for 4.30pm but quite a large set menu to choose from. We selected fish, duck and an 8 oz steak from the menu and the waiter asked for our side orders, which we selected. We had a quite a wait, but the meal evenually arrived and was quite tasty although I was dissapointed in the quality of the steak, side orders were chips approx 12 good chips and a lot of small burnt chips in a basket. When we went to pay the bill the side orders were additional at £3.50 per portion. This made our one course afternoon meal for three cost in excess of £50. When we quizzed the waitress her attitude was, its not our fault you did'nt read the menu. Poor attitude from staff and from the waiter who took our order.

Really disappointingMy wife and myself went here on Sunday early evening. Our order was eventually taken then having waited 45 minutes and still no sign of our main course l complained to the waiter who did not offer up any explanation nor did he apologise for the wait. I voiced my disappointment to the manager who apologised and said they were busy however the restaurant wasn't even half full. Food was good but service extremely poor and customer service a lot to be desired.

Just have to say from the moment we entered the belfray hotel the atmosphere was really nice staff so friendly and helpful. We had a meal which was really great (wonderful steak ) food hot and fresh ...... service the best . Cracker Guinness.. too staying here rooms are clean and very comfortable and relaxing just would we needed the 2 of us .... for a wee night away thank you lovely place to stay will be coming back again price to very good xx

After shopping trip to the city we called in for the Sunday Carvery. Staff friendly and attentive. Carvery was enjoyable and very filling. Will definitely be back.

The Belfray is a lovely place. The staff are extremely nice and the food is brilliant. From the moment you walk in, the staff speak to you and are really nice to you. The food is excellent and I would recommend The Belfray.

We stopped for lunch after a few days in the city, the food was delicious and the staff friendly, extremely attentive but most of all professional, Marty was especially helpful and creates a great atmosphere for customers.

Had a meal here with a group of about 15 people in November. The food was lovely and plentiful and the place was so tastefully decorated for Christmas.

Four of us had the pleasure of having dinner last night at the Belfry Country Inn.The service was impeccable - service with a smile by Clive! The food was excellent, reasonably priced and very good portions. We loved the decor and the atmosphere also.We will be back!

Recently had Sunday carvery at the Belfray, from the pianist to waiters/waitresses to the food i would highly recommend. From start to finish staff where friendly and professional which made it easier to relax and enjoy. First time visit but will definately not be the last.

My husband and I dined here one Thursday evening at the beginning of December. I opted for the seabass fillet and my husband took the turkey and ham dinner. My seabass came with a chorizo sauce which I thought was an odd accompaniment but I tried it anyhow. Personally, I found it overpowered the fish and did not enhance the dish. My husband found his dinner to be quite bland. We were both disappointed.

I've attended a few weddings in the Belfray Country Inn and eaten in the restaurant on Mothers Day and can honestly say the service and food was top quality. The place is run like a tight ship, with each table at the wedding having its own buzzer to summon a waiter/waitress. You will want for nothing at a function here. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff.The turn over of the room from wedding ceremony space to dinner venue was very smooth and quick. The food itself was fantastic, with the staff checking you had everything you needed.My only concern was I was seated in the "conservatory" part of the venue which, in the summer, was very hot and bright. The venue have tried to address this with chiffon/voile style drapes (which are also very pretty!) and two tall fans. However even with the windows open, it was still very warm. Still a stunning venue for a wedding with lovely staff who clearly care about what they do. I would recommend it to anyone!

What an amazing restaurant Treatment from the second we came in until we were leaving was excellentA massive THANKYOU to all the staff who were brilliant and very attentive in such a busy restaurant.Would highly recommend The Belfray Country inn to anyone.The put decorations up for us and made my mums 60th birthday very memorable.

I 'dined' in the Belfray today for boxing day lunch with my two daughters in the Bistro. I don't know who the chef is but they apparently are unable to cook a fillet steak medium. My daughter's first steak came out well done, it was sent back and after a long wait another came out, again well done without a trace of pink. At this stage both my other daughter and I had completely finished our meals and I think it was clear dinner had been ruined at that stage. We asked to speak to a manager who took his time coming over. He came over to the table immediately taking a defensive tone, stating that "when the chef presses the steak, blood comes out, it's just settled"... I would like to state again that there wasn't a trace of pink in this steak, it was well done. My daughter has worked in reputable hotels in the city for years, she asked the manager "would you consider that steak medium?" to which the manager replied "No I personally wouldn't", I ask why you are defending the chef and the steak then? The manager informed her they had a THIRD steak on for her. She declined, understandably eating a steak that would probably be overdone again by herself at what was supposed to be a family dinner isn't appealing. She told him if it had have been her place of work she would have been embarrassed and apologetic, this man was neither. He assured us that the steak would be taken off the bill, well rightly so as the steak wasn't even tasted, either time, this was far from an apology. My daughter asked for the bill as we were disgusted with the attitude of someone who clearly doesn't live by the servers guide of 'the customer is always right' and couldn't wait to leave. The manager didn't even have the decency to bring us the bill in person, he scuttled out of sight again, no doubt there was something more important to do in the office than providing decent customer service. Before leaving we asked the receptionist for the manager's name as I don't want anyone else getting the blame for this awful service, it was Rodney. After the 'dinner' today which I paid around £65 pounds for my eldest daughter to leave hungry, we ended up in Tescos to buy a steak for her to cook herself as she knows what a medium steak is supposed to look like. I'm embarrassed for Brian and John as this is not the standards I'm sure they expect from their establishment, I'd very much like to speak to them personally as the service I experienced today is not what I'd expect from them.

Just wanted to say "Thanks so much" to the lovely staff at The Belfray for another wonderful stay. The hotel is beautiful, the food is excellent but it is the staff that make it extra special. Everyone has a smile and pleasant word for guests and especially Mary on Reception who was so welcoming and kind, it was greatly appreciated! From booking on the phone to leaving the next morning it was a total pleasure the rooms were beautiful clean and warm. The food and service was first class and the music was absolutely clas. We all enjoyed out nite out thank you Andy (causeway hospital)

Had the most fantastic roast dinner. Food was superb with a large piece of turkey and ham with all the trimmings. I was with my mum and she had the same. The place was very busy but there was no gap in the service as the staff were just fantastic. The desert menu was great I would have eaten all of them but decided on the raspberry and coconut sponge with custard. Excellent meal and excellent value will definitely be back and would recommend it if you have not tried it.
