The Grill in Derry

Alloggiavamo nell'hotel e siamo rimasti anche a cena, piacevolmente colpiti! Menù particolare, sia di carne che di pesce e ampia selezione di vini da tutto il mondo. Location molto raffinata e silenziosa. Servizio molto curato, preciso, attento e impeccabile. Tutti molto gentili.

A vegan burger is not mashed potato, rocket and tomato squashed together for £17. I don't think you can call it burger just cos its in a bun tbh.

My mother had booked a table for tomorrow for my Daughters birthday, been booked for weeks she was looking forward to it. They then yesterday phoned to say it was Santa Sunday and the price up from 28 to £40. No mention of this when booking but seemingly manager says everyone knows the end of November is Santa Sunday. He was too ring back but never even had the manners too, so we had to book a decent restaurant instead.

I had tickets for the evening's entertainment in the ballroom and thought it would be an idea to have supper first to make a night of it. We were straight away led to The Grill and seated by a lovely welcoming member of staff who made sure we had drinks and menus. The variety itself was more than sufficient with something for everyone. We know what we like and like what we want so went for two of the salmon and two of the turkey/ham combo. Our starters were served very quickly and plates cleared as soon as we were finished. My company remarked on the still warm bread rolls & complimented on how hot & full of flavour the soup was. We opted to have our tea in the ballroom as the seats were filling up and didn't want to be too far back and this was brought through for us by another very pleasant member of staff and we were settled for the show. I loved the food, reasonably priced & very tasty and good portions so more than happy with the meal. However what really made this the most pleasant of experiences was the staff. The manager, the floor supervisor and the waiting staff. Full of chat, helpful and very personable. All were quite young & maybe holiday relief staff but this didn't come through if that was the case. I wish I'd taken their names although had I done I might have left someone out...This establishment seem to know the value in good staff and I hope they look after them. We will definitely be back and thank you for a lovely evening made all the more special because of how you looked after us, an absolute joy.

Our small travel group had dinner here from a limited menu the first night of our stay. All the servers were young, pleasant, and friendly. We began with choice of wine, beer, cider, or soft drink. Starters included honeydew melon slices, roasted pepper and tomato tartlet, and a delicious (vegetable) soup of the day. Main courses included braised Morthern Ireland beef, chicken, baked fillet of cod, and a roast vegetable curry. Portions were generous and everyone seemed to enjoy his/her choice. I thought my wife's vegetable curry was quite tasty. My cod entree had two pieces of cod, one delicious, the other a bit chewy. Accompanying vegetables were delicious. The chocolate fudge cake seemed to be the clear winner of the three desserts which also included a raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake, and traditional profiteroles with chocolate drizzle. Coffee and tea capped off a good meal and a good time with the group.

My wife and I were on a tour and did not opt for the optional excursion and decided to eat at the hotel. Very nice-- clubby setting. We had a young server who was sincere. I had chicken and steak ("Cock and Bull") and it was quite tasty -- the side salads are wonderful and served on a slab (see photo). My wife had the salmon and really liked it along with a buttered greens side. We shared a dessert - "Glastry Slider" consisting of three scoops of ice cream including honeycomb -- something I've never had but enjoyed very much -- on a cake base with fruit compote -- excellent!

We had dinner in the Grill, we made a last minute reservation with the receptionist who was very helpful in getting this arranged at short notice. Beautiful restaurant - very spacious and well decorated. Everywhere was also spotless! The service in the Grill from Shannon was excellent. Very friendly, polite and down to earth girl who looked like she enjoyed her job and working with people. We are picky Vegetarians, and the meal was out of this world with some beautiful meals choices! We both had the Goat's Cheese Bruchetta and then the Vegetable Thai Curry with Garlic Potatoes & Beer Battered Onion Rings! One of the best meals we have had in a long time. The presentation was first class! Well done Chef - who I believe has recently been promoted, and no need to ask why as your food speaks for itself. Berni :)

Stayed at the Everglades Hotel for 2 nights and had dinner and breakfast on 2 occasions. The breakfast choices were wide and varied using specific ingredients as per the 2016 National Food Focus. If you are staying at the hotel and intend to take breakfast at the hotel make sure that you book the night before as a discount applies if you do. Dinner was very high standard with range and standard of food exceptional. Staff standard commensurate with food served.

We rarely eat at a hotel where we're staying because we like to experience different places but we just loved the food offered at this grill so much the first night that we stayed at the Everglades, we returned the second evening for another fine meal. The menu is quite varied with something for everyone and much of the food offered is fresh & local-sourced. *Bonus*! The terrific staff were friendly & attentive and really added to our overall great experience...especially Carmen :) No regrets at all for dining here two nights in a row.

The grill experience for breakfast and dinner was amazing. Sevice was also to a very high standard. well done to the team

My husband had the sirloin which was cooked to perfection. I had Pasta Carbon nara, and it was delicious.. A glass of Santa Diana Mellott topped off our meal

I would recommend the seafood chowder if you like fish I could eat it all the time the first thing we said when we were coming to the hotel was 'that is the hotel that serves the seafood chowder' jthat is how memorable it is. Apart from that the staff are really friendly and the atmosphere is nice especially when they have someone playing at the piano. We had a great deal on the Thursday night a couples deal which had a good selection for a great price. All in all I would recommend this as a place to eat.

Visited restaurant at Everglades, Derry, for a meal with a large family gathering. Hotel was visually nice, clean and modern but we thought it strange that the bar, foyer and restaurant were empty mid afternoon on a Sunday in July in the holiday season. While staff were polite, their service was slow and the quality of the food was not high. Soup had been burnt and then served. Meat on main course was meagre and fatty and those that had chicken complained it was very greasy. Drinks were slow and were partially delivered and some not at all. Needless to say the bill was high and definitely not good value. Would not recommend for food.

Had call to visit here for a large family get together ,first impressions I thought hotel was very quiet for a Sunday afternoon , maybe 4 customers in total about the place when we arrived, all 25 of us including a couple of children, ( did others know something we didn't). The dining room was bright and airy ,as we waited for everyone to arrive ,the waiter took our drinks order , I asked for 3 different types of beer that are common every else , sorry No, No , Ah sorry No again , eventually we arrived at a beer that both they had and that I liked . Maybe they couldn't handle a group this size but when the order came back 4 of us though they were bringing the rest of the large order on a second tray , and waited 10 minutes , they never came back ,so I went and asked for the other 4 drinks that had not come ,then they brought them with apologies. The food order was taken and my wife and brother in law both remarked the soup was burned , though in fairness my caesar salad was excellent .The main course , the beef my wife ordered was very fatty with at least 33% being cut off and left on the side of the plate , mine was stuffed chicken fillet wrapped in bacon , which I had to send back as it was absolutely swimming in melted butter mixed with enough gray to do 3 dinners, (NO Exaggeration. ) So I got a new dinner with appoligies, and told that it was the melted butter from the veg, (Must have been all the veg) anyway the chicken fillet was hard as it was overcooked , the mash was soaking wet as it was lying in the gravy veg butter stuff ,only less this time . The sweet was very nice , and when it came to the tea or coffee one side of the large table was served,but the least 3 people on the side I was on never got any tea or coffee and I certainly wasn't asked if I did want any ,but as I didnt , it didnt matter , but it would be nice to be asked in case I did . We then moved into the bar which was very comfortable with soft seats and sofas but empty of people ( WHY I Wonder ) .The bill came to £600 all but a few shillings. My verdict on the quality of some of the service and a good bit of the food is PISS POOR I am afraid . We only ended up going here because the other two places we tried to book couldn't handle a booking so big on a Sunday evening , and after my (LAST) visit the the everglades it became obvious why they could have accommodated a group of up to 100 . They need to sit down and asked themselves why that is .

Went in to the Everglades on Wed afternoon with a friend. Lovely waiter brings us menus the menus and returns for our order but we were still deciding. He suggested he would bring us some tea while we were deciding. My friend opted for coffee and I had tea. We ordered a chicken main dish and a burger and it was very nice. When we were nearly finished my friend asked a waitress for hot water to heat upher coffee and the girl said - och I'll bring you a fresh pot (which she promptly did). We went to pay and the bill was £39.50. I actually said to the waiter he must have someone else's bill. But no it was hours - €49.50 if we wished to pay in Euros. We were charged £3.50 x 3 for the two coffees and one tea (none of which we asked for). Extortion. Really felt had!! Won't be returning

Nos alojamos en el hotel Hastings Everglades nuevo el 12 de noviembre y tenía una comida de 4 platos por la noche en la parrilla. La comida era de la más alta calidad y fantabulous. Jennifer, que nos servía era excepcional y me di cuenta que ella tenía capacidad así que debe presentar en la forma que ella misma con todos los clientes no sólo nosotros. También almorzamos en el salón del bar a la hora del almuerzo y todo lo que puedo decir es que creo que el hombre del bar de cabeza llamado Aleta es uno de el auténtico caballero de la vida, nada es un problema. Recomendaría no sólo el hotel en el que alojarse, pero la comida y el ambiente en la zona del salón. Ahora también hemos reservado otro día en el espectáculo de Michael Buble tributo en volver de diciembre.

Good service and nice relaxing surroundings. The menu has some interesting choices, and the food is well cooked and nicely served. I have been here a couple of times and have always had a great meal.

We stayed in the Hastings Everglades hotel in July. It was a hotel package which included dinner in their Grill restaurant. We have considerable experience of the Culloden Hotel which is also in the Hastings group. The Culloden is outstanding and the Everglades is poor by comparison in all respects. Unfortunately the dinner was very disappointing. Whilst it is a restaurant, it is very much a hotel restaurant. The staff seemed inexperienced, poorly trained and were pre-occupied with setting the tables for tomorrow morning's breakfast. The service was very poor. Staff should not take short cuts and lean over adjacent handrails to speak to customers or to deliver any items. A staff member spilled a side order onto the floor. Service was very slow and we waited an age for coffee after a second request. There were few customers in the restaurant and the slow service and the lack of attention to the diners was inexcusable. The menu is largely in the mid price range. The staters were basic and dominated by large quantities of cheap salad. A tomato and mozzarella based starter did not appear to use plum tomatoes. We made the mistake of ordering the daube of beef as a main course. This was just awful. The beef was submerged in a basic brown sauce. It was clearly a very poor cut of beef dominated by inedible fat. The desserts were average. This was a very disappointing meal. We will never dine in this restaurant again and we cannot recommend it.

Lovely wholesome food served by very attentive staff with music in background good choice on set menu

Ate here with my husband last Friday night the service was really good with all staff so attentive to our needs. The food was excellent I had the fish and chips which was beautifully presented and so tasty as well as a very generous portion. My husband had the chicken dish which he loved the homemade potato croquettes were beautiful as was the black pudding that accompanys this dish. We shared the homemade raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake which wss delicious. All in all I would recommend this restaurant within the Hastings Everglades hotel for a delicious meal you will not be disappointed.

The Grill offered an extensive menu that catered for all our families needs adults and children. The quality of the food was excellent and well presented and extremely filling. I would definitely recommend eating in The Grill.

The starter of seafood chowder in a Belfast bap was one of the best I have ever had. The main of chorizo chicken with risotto was well cooked but a little more on the average side. The service was prompt, the place was clean tidy and relaxing and the piano playing in the background really gave a good atmosphere to the place. The prices were not half bad either.

the food was amazing, everything fresh. no dried up stuff. there was something for everyones taste, and then some. loved it!

We recently dined here for the Christmas Sunday buffet in The Grill restaurant and to be totally honest I could not fault it in any way! The selection and quality of food was top notch and the staff were so attentive and helpful which is always a bonus!The atmosphere was lovely with a wonderful pianist and choir as light entertainment and Santa even paid a visit and gave presents to the kids! Such a great effort was made here to make this outing an enjoyable and relaxing experience for all attending and it certainly paid off! I will definitely be returning to eat here as it is well worth it.Thanks to the staff at the Everglades hotel for making this a wonderful day for our family!

My family and I had an amazing experience today at this hotel and yes I did say experience ( Buffet lunch) with a fantastic display of salads soups meats desserts chocolate fountains home made fudge etc, it's advisable to book as their were a huge crowd there and no wonder a local man on piano whom Phil coulter would be proud of and a few carols from a choir Eat as much as you like but remember after this feast you probably won't manage dinner!!!

I enjoyed the table d'hote menu at the Grill in the Everglades. Good quality food and service. Would recommend the chorizo chicken. Good value wine list.

I was at the Everglades Hotel for a Chamber of Commerce dinner and was most impressed by the whole experience. As it was raining a doorman came out to meet me with an umbrella - I must say I had never experienced that before! The quality of food and service was excellent. The dining room was gorgeous and an evxellent night was had by all. Well done!

Have eaten here a few times and the quality each time has been superb. The service is very good and the restaurant is very relaxing. With nice ambience and great furnishings. I would highly recommend this restaurant for an excellent bite to eat. There was 7 in our group and we all enjoyed different meals, the seafood chowder was one of the best I have ever tasted and as always its good to know that this hotel can trace all of its produce to exactly were it came from. Well done to the staff who could not have been more pleasant. If you plan a nice evening in great surroundings give it a go.
