We went to visit the Bears Den as the chippy in golspie was closed. However on arrival, it was closed. This wasn't mentioned anywhere on there Google page which could've been easily updated on the fly but they did not seem to do so. A 15 minute drive for nothing. I can't say anything about the food, I don't imagine it's bad but I will unfortunately not have the chance to try it due to them not managing their page properly. Not impressed!

We have been to Brora three times in the last year when we have bee allowed during the pandemic. On each visit we have tried to buy fish and chips from this establishment. We check the website and it says open, so off we go only to find it is closed. There is a massive sign outside saying OPEN NOW, but it is definitely closed. We phoned but no reply. This is most irritating and off-putting so when things get back to normal, we will not be trying to buy from here. A shame because we are regular visitors to Brora.

We had a takeout from here which was very enjoyable. Fresh food, tasty and not too pricey either. There is also a sit in option available.

We just popped in on the off chance, we were traveling back from John O Groats heading to Inverness. To be honest with the flashing takeaway sign we weren't expecting much .. but inside was lovely, friendly welcome, tasty curry and huge portions.

My wife and I popped in for an evening meal and was met by a charming gentleman who told us to take a seat, an equally charming lady came in and took our order ,we had the fish and macaroni both of which were excellent. We chatted away to the lady regarding the name of the place and the beautiful crockery that had been specially made for them.Next time we are in Brora we will pop back.

We had the fish tea and the macaroni for our evening meal which was delicious. The place was freshly decorated and the plates were a truly unique service with the tartan theme. We chatted to the staff and all in all had a great time there. If we are ever back up there it will be on our first port of call.

Hoped to buy takeaway for breakfast at 9.45am on Wednesday. Sign outside ( and the reply to previous reviewer ) states that they open at 7am , - but they were closed. We could see lights on but all doors were locked. However we had lovely sausage, bacon & egg rolls from another cafe just up the street

Had a great meal in The Bears Den last night. Fish was great and the curry was absolutely delicious - chips much better than we had previously in there and we will definitely be back.

We visited the Bear’s Den for a takeaway while camping at the nearby campsite. Didn’t get the staff members name (lives in Dingwall!) but she was super friendly and spoke to us while we waited for our food. Really tasty pakora and steaming hot pizza. Just what we needed!

We went here for dinner tonight, 7 of us all together. We were served by Hope who is very polite and welcoming. Drinks orders were taking swiftly and arrived in good time. Food order was taken quickly and considered that there were 7 of us the food came out in excellent time. Not only did it come out in good time it also tasted amazing. Fish & chips, hot dogs, pakoras, smoked sausage supper and a burger was had, all amazing and really good big portions. Three of us had the Belgium waffles with ice cream and sauce, also amazing. I would definitely recommend The Bears Den to anybody looking for a nice environment to eat in and good food!

The Fish and Chip Shop is in our experience is without a doubt the BEST IN CAITHNESS AND SUTHERLAND! The fish was white and flakes. fried in beautiful crispy batter and the chips were perfect. We have experienced other Chip Shops in Wick,Thurso and Helmsdale, plus Mobile Chip Vans in Lybsterand Dunbeath and this has been the best so far too. We travelled around 30 miles to eat here and would do so again. THANK YOU.

Très agréable situation entre 2 ballades, service très prévenant. Des plats typiques, abordables. Le top après une journée de tourisme.

After poor experiences in Oban and Fort William this place restored our faith in a Scottish breakfast and hospitality. Great service, even better breakfast made with quality ingredients.

If you’re taking the boat tour on Loch Ness this is where you’ll catch it. If not, it’s still a great pit stop to shop, have a bio break, grab a cold drink (or sample some gin!) and browse the shops. Surprisingly affordable souvenirs here. Stop won’t take long unless this is also your hotel… not sure of value or pricing on those. Great views of the Loch. Be careful of the very busy highway!
