The Beachside Restaurant at the Boulevard Hotel in Blackpool

After a slow start, the Beachside in South Promenade's Boulevard Hotel exceeded my expectations at every step. Visiting on a Monday evening in the off-season, I wasn't surprised to find the restaurant running with just two people front-of-house but the wait to be seated was a comfortable one in the Beachside's classy interior. Despite dining solo, I was offered my choice of tables, starting a string of pitch-perfect service notes in this jewel of a restaurant. I ordered the sea bream with a side of green beans. Perhaps twenty minutes later, the dish arrived perfectly-cooked and expertly filleted. The fish was meaty with a satisfyingly crispy skin. I don't mind admitting that I cleared the plate. I can't remember the last time that I enjoyed a better fish dish in any restaurant, anywhere. Being on a work trip, on any other occasion, that would have been the end of the meal. Yet, I found myself readily taking the casual recommendation to try the limoncello cheesecake and I am so glad I did. Indulgent, citrusy cream cheese atop a perfectly-proportioned biscuit base with sorbet and berry coulis, this was dessert heaven. For a main course, side, dessert and large bottle of mineral water, my bill was £50. As I write this, I am already wondering how soon I could justify going back to the Beachside. I loved it and certainly wasn't expecting that from a dinner-for-one scenario on a business trip.

Hotel itself and service is five star which makes our Saturday night dinner experience very bizarre. To the management this I hope will be taken as constructive criticism although you must be aware that the dinner served to my Husband and I was very non 5 star. We both had the smoked salmon as a starter. I am a frequent smoked salmon eater but this smoke salmon was so extremely oily it was hard to enjoy it I'm afraid. The mains pulled beef with pasta ribbons was dry, not a lot of taste and not very hot to boot! I couldn't finish it. My Husbands main chicken Milanese was of a supermarket frozen standard. The fries which were the only offered accompaniment were not even of the standard of the nation's favourite drive in burger restaurants, barely warm, just about cooked and with black potato eyes left in! The deserts again were of the weekly shop supermarket standard dressed up with far too many snap dragon flower heads! Note to bar manager your barman has obviously not been trained on how to prepare a Pimm's, he poured a full tonic mixer over the Pimm's measure completely drowning it with not one additional piece of fruit, mint, just the liquid! Such a shame that a dinner in keeping with the five star atmosphere was not served, the dinning room is very comfortable and beautifully furnished and the service was great, just didn't have the heart to mention any of this to the first rate waiter, it would have completely spoilt our evening. The waiter did say that a dinner bed and breakfast+ ticket to the funfair was in operation this weekend so maybe that accounts for the extremely average an inspiring budget standard dinner offering on September 9th, I don't know but just not anywhere good enough for a five star dinning room. Such a shame and such a disappointment, I was looking forward to so much more!!

Appalling service - 50 minutes to get our drinks. Apparently the owners were having a private dining event upstairs which explained the near absence of staff in the restaurant. Woeful. Felt sorry for the skeleton crew left behind to deal with the restaurant guests while everyone else was upstairs looking after the owners. One couple near us gave up and abandoned their meal early. This was appalling!

Excellent food, well presented, high end cuisine. Lovely setting and comfortable surroundings. We were extremely impressed.

Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The tiger prawns and the boulevard prawns were both very good. If you like steak, the sirloin will not disappoint. The waiter’s recommendation for the chicken Kiev was right on the money. We were unable to get a table on Saturday night, so booked for the Sunday evening. I would advise booking in order to avoid disappointment.

Appallingly small portion size and enormous price . Total scam and rip off ! . Do not go ! We went as a family of 6 . 4 Adults and 2 children . I had the £25 Fish and chips . What arrived was a small piece of fried fish 2 cm wide by 10cm long . (About as long as your little finger) . Which was sat on some mashed peas and next to 6 chips !! A total rip off ! . I spoke to the staff who said they will pass on my remarks to the chef ! 🤦‍♂️ Just to you and idea of the portion size rip off . The children’s meals were significantly bigger than the 4 Adult meals . A complete waste of money . And shocking behaviour from a local business .

We ate her when we visited Blackpool last year so we were looking forward to our visit this year. It was pretty quiet for a Saturday night and we were offered a choice of tables by the lovely Emma the food was delicious my husband especially loved his lamb rump and we both enjoyed the Pineapple dessert. Our wine was not very chilled but was soon rectified when we mentioned it so not a problem service was excellent looking forward to a visit when we are in Blackpool again

Thought we would try this restaurant as its fairly new and I hadn't seen any reviews for it or knew anyone who had been. All I can say is that it was well worth the visit, from start to finish. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming or friendly, always asking if everything was ok. Although it was Valentines night there wasn't anything particular or special on although they did serve you a lovely canape before your meal. We had a duck liver parfait and potted shrimps for starter, both delicious but would have liked a little bit more flavour in the parfait. For mains we had Loin of Venison and shoulder of lamb, both plates were cleaned up and the taste was just fab. I did want the fish Pie but they had sold out of that but very happy with my Venison. For dessert we had a selection of cheeses and an orange cheesecake, my cheese was great but the wife didn't like the cheesecake, it had orange in the cheese rather than just on the top and she thinks it didn't quite go, however, that didn't spoil the rest of the meal. The cost wasn't bad at all and neither were the bottles of wine, for our 3 courses, bottle of wine it came to just under £100. Its a fab hotel and a fab restaurant, probably needs advertising a little bit more , but we will definitely be back on a more regular basis.

My husband and I went there, and had a lovely meal, staff were very friendly and helpful, the white coffee I got was nice as it came with a jug of hot milk, and was very nice, would go back again.

We ate here twice, for an evening meal and also breakfast as part of our stay over at the hotel. The selection of food was good and something for the kids. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

Went here for my birthday and what a treat it was, on arriving Samuel took care of us seated us in the lounge and ordered some wine before he showed us to our table as he said we had asked for a window table and it was my birthday would we like to eat in the private dining area he was so smart professional and friendly. We were served by the wonderful Megan so polite efficient and friendly. We both had the Lancashire soufflé for starters I had the Lobster ravioli for mains although a starter couldn't resist, my husband had the loin of pork cutlet and then couldn't resist the Pina Colada dessert everything was utterly delicious and the service exceptional we returned 2 days later.

We normally book the hotel, but on this occasion we could get a room last minute over the weekend. So on our last night in Blackpool we decided to book the restaurant as it’s our favourite restaurant in Blackpool. Megan our server was fantastic she lit up the room with conversation. And at the table and seemed like she was actually interested to talk and spark some interest. She was on the ball, with check backs, and making sure we had drinks. Over all every time with been this restaurant is great.

We had a meal at the hotel restaurant and found the food to be really high quality, great sized portions and the service was great. We had mains, dessert and drinks and all of it we would highly recommend!

We were not staying in the hotel but booked for dinner. There was barely 3 tables of customers in the restaurant but it took forever to order drinks, then food, and then for them to actually bring the drinks was another lifetime. Food was very average considering the price. Half way through dinner we asked for another drink but this only arrived well after we had finished. Not quite sure what took them so long for everything as there seemed to be plenty staff, but just not doing very much. Very disappointing as we go into the bar often for drinks, and it is so lovely, but the restaurant food and service was a big let down.

Went for a family meal as its the end of the half price, up to £10. The meal was very good and the waitress did an amazing job, Janice I think. The management are definitely doing something right. Couldn't fault anything.

We weren't staying in this hotel however had been recommended going there for dinner. Staff were very friendly, the restaurant was beautifully furnished and the food delicious with relatively quick service and lovely fresh produce. Nice choice of wines also and reasonably priced.
