The Beachside in Weymouth and Portland

My daughter and I were having a day in Weymouth and planned to have fish and chips for lunch, the weather was so atrocious that we decided to visit Bowleze and The Beachside. We had visited previously and had good food. The Fish and Chips were fantastic! We had the special for two people which said it was for smaller appetites. I was expecting small portions, but no! It was more than enough, a decent sized piece of fish each and ample chips it also came with a roll and butter. It was delicious. Great value, friendly and prompt service. I will definitely visit again and recommend, especially for Fish and Chips!

Beach cafés can be a bit of a dive — not this one! Really tasty good, generous portion sizes, friendly staff, a relaxed atmosphere, and sea views. We especially enjoyed the scampi and the dirty fries.

The food is really nice and the staff are all very helpful and kind.

We visited the cafe after hearing good things about it on our first day of holiday. We ordered 3 bacon baps and a scone with drinks. This come to nearly £30. The baps came out and to be fair were larger than normal bacon baps but no way worth the price. The scone was as dull as this review. It was out a packet and small. We then bought two ice creams for the kids one in a cone and one in a tub. When the young girl gave the ice creams over in tubs I queried the order and the amount of attitude I received was unbelievable. I saw the person in front of me get the same attitude back for asking for spoons. By this point I had had enough of wasting the best part of £35 to this business and walked away.

The Beach side itself is a lovely location. However our breakfast with 2 latte cost £28. The full English was just mediocre and was very disappointed. We done many seaside breakfast, but unfortunately not for us. That's just my opinion, but for the price it was quite poor.

I come here with my family one or two times during our stay at Eweleaze campsite next door. Brilliant fish and chips, great staff. Does get very busy on hot days.

Had the fish and chips with mushy peas. This for us is the best fish and chips in Weymouth for your money. The batter is always cooked perfectly, lovely and crispy. A great portion of chips and nice sized pot of mushy peas. Restaurant looks perfectly out over the sea at Bowleaze cove. There is always outside seating under cover and also a decked area.

The food is chip shop style but tastes good. Service is friendly and there is a separate bar for alcoholic drinks.

Nice location with views of the beach. Had a coffee and ice creams on a couple of days, which were good. However we had lunch one day and it was a bit disappointing. The ham salad was very small and basic. A little bit of diced iceberg lettuce and a little dice cucumber, and tomato and the tiniest amount of diced peppers placed around the edge of the plate to make it look like there was more with the slices of thin ham in the middle. My partner ordered an all day breakfast which was small too. However I saw several people eating the fish and chips which looked nice.

We stopped off with visiting family for their dog to have a walk, lots of choices in the restaurant for food (only had a coffee), gin bar there with lots of choice. Would recommend a visit.

Great location. Feels like being on an overseas holiday. Good food and service.

So glad we found this Cove earlier in the year and just had to return for a visit to the Cocktail Bar on the beach as well as great food and service in the Cafe.

Food very good breakfast was brilliant

We attended on a weekday during term time and it was quite quiet. Loved the layout and the view out onto Bowleez Cove. Arcade nest door. Outdoor seating available. Had a delicious breakfast, table buzzers to alert you food is ready. Food was very tasty and hot. Prices i'd say are more middle of the range (not too expensive but definitely not cheap) but the price was justified for the quality of the food. Quirky decor ....old school/modern canteen. Very clean and fresh. Loved the tiki bar! .Staff very friendly. We also had an ice cream from the ice dream parlour next door. Very nice and affordable priced! Parking directly outside (pay and display)

Really lovely restaurant and the people are lovely and polite and everyone is so happy to see you and remembers your face which is so pleasant. Had a lovely time and the food was lovely

It's okay, wipe ice-cream very watery

It was alright but the staff are pretty uneducated. For example I was buying an ice cream and they asked me what flavour and I said “bubblegum” and they said ‘the ice cream or the gum’ I said ice cream and they said good because they don’t have gum. And that was a pretty awkward thing to say but the ice cream was delicious and the only reason I am giving this a three star is the fact the ice cream was amazing. But I do recommend it on a hot day.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and were happy to slightly adapt the menu to provide me with a vegan meal.

Amazing place to come to visit whilst on holiday great location awesome atmosphere dogs are welcome highly recommend this place.

We had breakfast in the restaurant and that was really nice, the rating would have been give star for that. We had takeaway fish and chips, I was missing a portion of chips when j got back to my caravan, at £3.25 wasn't very impressed. The chips weren't very nice and for £61 I didn't think it was very good value for money, won't use the take away again

Overpriced for what it is. Large Cod was more like a Small Cod. Batter flat and thin.

Kudos for a gluten free fish and chips option. Quite a lot of options and lots of places to sit (or takeaway), service was pretty fast but was chaos being the counter and I saw quite a few angry punters waiting to be served. For me tho, was pretty fast and pretty tasty.

We have been here several times but I can honestly say the outside tables are disgusting. There is no one clearing and cleaning the tables, litter everywhere and staff stood around doing nothing. It seems like no-one takes charge and delegate's cleaning. However inside is lovely and clean. Such a shame they don't pay as much attention on the outside !!

Over priced discusting food I’m not sure they can call their beef burgers beef more like cat meat under cooked chips nice but the boy missed them off the order so had to wait again

Nice little area for holiday makers to have a meal / drinks. Or just watch the day go by. Parking can be an issue!

Good fish and chips, although fish a bit thinly sliced and small, but nevertheless not coated in loads of batter. Very edible and tasty.

Overpriced under cooked and rude staff

Lovely place to eat in or outside, food is good, plenty of seats inside also. Nice friendly staff, toilets are clean. Disabled friendly. You can bring your dogs here if sitting outside. There is also a bar area with a varied choice of wines beers and spirits. Large car park situated only yards away and the beach is right in front of the Beachside.

Very friendly, food was lovely and fresh. No waiting time, made to feel welcome and not rushed despite being the end of the day

Ideal location where it is. Right next to the carpark and the beach. Provides hot and cold food. Hot and cold drinks. With a bar at one end. Plenty of seating inside and out. The place is clean and tidy enough. Staff are friendly.

Great Fish and Chips, quite busy but didn't have to wait to long for our food.

Was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was going to be hideously expensive and poor food like a typical big beach cafe but was the opposite. Prices were very sensible. And food was fast and tasted good. Family fed easy and sensibly. Job done.

Lovely restaurant providing meals, snacks and ice-cream. Located right on the stoney beach next to fun amusement Park with lots of fun rides and indoor play area. We'll worth a visit.

Lovely fish and chips always go here when we come for our holidays.

We were staying in the Haven caravan park, and this is just a 10 minute walk away. We all had a full English and it was really good. I must admit I didn't want to use the toilets as everyone from the beach was coming in to use them. Although we were eating breakfast, it was actually lunchtime and the lunches coming out of the kitchen looked good as well. Plus they do cocktails!!

Busy as always, expensive but good choices

Bowleaze beach is a easily reachable with lovely views and plenty of space if you like a pebble beach. The beachside cafe/chipshop is exactly what you want for all your needs from a brekkie to some fish and chips. Very old fashioned canteen style inside but it has been there a while but that doesn't take away for the quality of the food. They give you good servings of ice cream for your price and generally just good servings all round.

What lovely young lady front of house only got water but she was happy and friendly.

The best fish and chips in Weymouth and the best mug of tea on the planet! Lovely staff and a fabulous place to park up and have a swim. My absolute favourite spot on the planet.

Standard cafe, luke warm coffee and cheap food. Good enough to fill a hole when you're starving. Paid for parking as it wasn't clear if blue badge holders are exempt and the gates are locked at 7pm, dog friendly.
