The Batch House in Chesterfield

Ordered Cappuccino and sausage roll. They asked if I wanted it warm. Yes please. It to so long to come the coffee was cols as was the sausage rill which had never been heated. I took th a back. They returned 5 mins later with a sarcastic "enjoy". The roll had beec cut into 3. each piece was lukewarm on the outside AND COLD in the middle. TERRIBLE ATTITUDE FROM STAFF. TOLD THEM TO CHUCK IT IN THE BIN. WORST MONEY I HAVE EVER SPENT. AVOID

First time here and was a little reluctant after hearing mixed reviews but was actually pleasantly surprised! It's not as big as some food halls I've been in but there was enough choice (food & drinks) and the setting was nice. I ordered from the Japanese vendor and had a really delicious katsu curry which I could have eaten again... and again! Prices were reasonable and staff were friendly. Free (ish) parking -check the signs!

Lots of choice which was great for our family we all chose something which was brought to our tables all the food looked and tasted great. My son had a pastry from the bakery which was really fresh . We all have different dietary requirements and it was easy to find something for us all. The milkshakes were a huge hit from the burger bar will def return

This spot is great for a casual visit. Yummy, cold drinks from the bar and great snacks from The Greek Place too. Would highly recommend. Will be back again Five stars.

I’ve visited a few times and once again this week the service was painfully slow despite it being quiet. This seems to be an ongoing problem, having read other reviews many others are saying the same. The place is nice, as is the coffee and food. Please management sort out the slow service.

At Bakery at The Batch House just had a superb Charcuterie Board for two with lots of lovely meats and cheeses from around the world topped off with flavoured crackers and of course 4eyesbakery rosemary and sea salt focaccia for dipping into a warm Camembert ❤️ delicious 😋 Safe to say the before and after pic says it all 😋❤️

I have had only had good experiences! We’ve been regular (monthly) visitors here since it opened. There has been some teething issues with different food places coming and going in the early stages but for the past 6 months or so it has got better! Mistakes happen now and again, you can expect that anywhere! Ruby&Chaat curries are fantastic! I would say even the milder dishes hold some heat but if you are a curry lover these are worth it! Brilliant burger is always a winner with our kids - milkshakes, impressive size portions (kids portions are near enough adult size). Greek gods give huge portions and quality food! This is my usual go to and they have some great vegan options. Nikos teriyaki and bao buns are lush! Pizza magic makes great pizzas, with all quality ingredients! Peru was fantastic! I ate here last weekend and the beef fell apart, lots of flavour! They don’t automatically provide salt/pepper, just like most fast food type places, but there are plenty of baskets dotted about with salt, pepper etc to grab your own. Overall we’ve tried all of the outlets and never had a bad meal, or experience that’s worth complaining about as they have always resolved it quickly. It’s nice to see Chesterfield trying different things with food services similar to those in Sheffield, York, Manchester etc! It would be great to see it grow!

Went to ‘The Bakery’ for a breakfast. Drinks were fine (ordered two lattes). Food on the other hand was awful. Ordered the breakfast bagel. Waited 30mins and probably ten people in the whole venue - obviously not all eating at the bakery so it wasn’t busy AT ALL. Food came - was missing food from my order - hash brown looked microwaved and barely cooked, bacon full of fat. Rest of it luke warm. Went to complain - apologised and said could make me a new one but would be a wait - already waited 30mins with a young baby and also told me it was the last bagel so not sure how they could make me a new one - maybe planning on using a stone cold bagel - I declined the offer. Awful food. Will not be returning.

I've been to batch house a few times for coffee. Went for lunch, food was dreadful, all the staff looked bored and miserable.

Having read some of the reviews, each to their own. Personally the food, service, drinks including the coffee have always been excellent. When looking at the small cooking area available for bakery at the batch, I have always been impressed with the quality of the food I receive. The selection now available is excellent. When busy it may take a little longer and can’t guarantee everything arrives at the same time when ordering from different vendors. Personally I love the fact that so much choice is available under the one roof. Now WiFi is available enjoy the opportunity to work from there and enjoy all it has to offer. If you use the venue regularly the parking app is great reduces the worry about parking fines. Have a great day!!!!

Needed a spot of lunch so visited The Bakery at the Batch House. I was served by Enry who was very helpful in showing me how to access the menu and provided me with some recommendations. Enry was really friends and a pleasure to talk to with a great sense of humour. While I waited for my lunch to be prepared I sat close to the counter and engaged in a conversation with Jim the chef. I enjoyed watching him carefully preparing foods for other customers. He explained what he was making and how it was made and the attention to detail in the dish was fabulous. I ordered a BLT and it was superb. The bacon was cooked perfectly and I was given the option to have it warm or cold. The season that was added made the sandwich tastes so good. The overall experience I had was really nice. The staff were lovely and the food even better! Thank you Jim and Enry.

I’ve never seen such poor management and leadership at a not-overly busy cafe for as long as I can remember. The place looks like a good, artisan and independent coffee shop (which uses Forge Coffee - a great roasters from Sheffield) but it’s staff have absolutely no idea what they are doing. Waited 20 mins for an Americano, ten mins of which I stared at one sat on a tray waiting to be served to a customer. When I asked if it was mine and if I could take it away in a to-go cup - I was told it was for another customer who had also ordered a tea...which took them another 10 mins to put on the tray. The two young girls behind the counter had no idea what they were doing, and zero initiative - and I can’t really blame them because the manager was sat on her phone behind the bread shelf for 5 mins before serving another customer. Other members of staff were eating stuff from the bakery, drinking cans of Fanta and providing zero assistance, training, customer service… basically adding zero value. Owners don’t even have a website, contact number, social media to lodge a complaint with - so maybe they’ll see it here.

Website: “Open to 10pm” Us, 8pm: “Three pizzas please.” “No, we’ve closed for food and switched the ovens off.” Useless. Left, hungry and thirsty

We visited for lunch as we were passing, my wife described the coffee as horrible and tried to get it changed. they refused as "thats the only coffee they do", no refund. We had the japanese and it was tasty, but was basically a mountain of rice. The various food services did not have enough room for their supplies so everything stacked up in the eating areas.

Been a few times as a meet up for breakfast with scooter friends and its never got any better, service terrible nobody knows what they are doing absolute shambles.

Great find, so much to choose from and a good atmosphere, funky vibe, very clean, nice staff with good prices for food and drinks. Easy to use app at tables if you want to order this way. We actually returned today for breakfast… really good choice and nice coffee

Oh my goodness what a horrible experience I could cry. I brought my mum here for Mother’s Day this morning, she has recently lost her mum so I thought this would be a lovely idea. We get in and order, they tell us they don’t have most of the things that we asked for, so we changed our order to what they did have in stock. We ordered a couple of pots of tea. One pot of tea arrived 20 mins later, the other one arrived another 5 mins after that. We carried on waiting for our breakfast, by this time we had completely finished our pots of tea. 60 minutes passed, it still hadn’t arrived. By this point we only had 30 mins left on our free 2 hours parking. I went up to the counter to ask how long it was going to be, and the chef told us he didn’t even have our ticket. So I asked the girl on the till for a full refund. She did so without even a sorry or an explanation. This place has so much potential and is a lovely venue. But the staff just appear to be young adults who don’t have the first idea about hospitality and are completely not tuned into their customers needs. This venue is in desperate need to be taken over by someone who is more in tune to what hospitality should be. The guy on the cooking also coughed onto his hand and continued to dish the food up on the hot plate. We received our refund and left extremely hungry! I am devastated that the Mother’s Day brunch I had in mind was completely ruined, without even so much as an apology. Never again! I will also add that I had my two year old son with me, who became very upset and irritable that he sat and waited and missed out on his breakfast, as it was lunch time when we finally gave up and left.

Visited for a breakfast it wasn't particularly busy so ordered and then waited an age for two teas which arrived with no sugar and no teaspoon. Then waited forever for breakfasts which arrived with dirty cutlery and no napkins. Service and presentation was very poor and wouldn't recommend.

I only gave it 1 because I couldn’t leave zero Where to start? Sunday morning seven of us went for breakfast Our friends 2 adults and two kids all ordered food 3 of them got food and ate it that was fine the other child got hers when they had all finished The 3 of us ordered at 10:50 am And at 11:30 am still no food so I asked 1 of the waitresses where our food was and she said she would ask so at 11:50 my wife went to the counter and asked she was told they had totally missed our order so we got our money back. We will never go back there again I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone

Terrible food, terrible service and dirty. I ordered a ham salad and they bought me a ham cob so I showed them my order and they came back with what was clearly just the middle out of the cob.

Visited for lunch and had a flat white which was very nice, and a chicken burger which was also nice. Unfortunately the member of staff that served me from the burger place was very unfriendly and grumpy, came over and dumped the food down. Didn’t say anything just walked off, looked miserable, apart from that, it’s a nice place and I would recommend it

Really disappointed slow service bland tasting breakfast undercooked sausage seems like everything was microwaved apart from tea and coffee and fruit juice there was no other selection not even bottled water will definitely never go back for breakfast 👎👎👎

Had a coffee and cheese pastry Coffee was very strong and cheese pastry was dry. Parking and downloading the app is time consuming and hardly any signal. Building work so drilling louldly couldnt relax . Children dragging chairs across the floor . Expensive for what it was wouldn't go again

I swore I wouldn’t go back to this place but my friend wanted to go and we heard the new bakery was open, it was a complete waste of time, slow service when it’s quiet,prices for cakes are abit extortionate,some of the same ignorant staff still employed there, was told by a staff member that Tim Turner had taken over but with his business sense I’m in shock that he hasn’t got this place running well and with better polite willing staff members. No management that I can see. Toilets clean so well done, would like to try the Greek that’s at top end let’s hope they succeeed in this place that’s going down hill fast

When this place first opened it was nice vibrant and great , now it’s a ghost town with poor service rubbish & cleaning products laid around unhappy or staff that do not care , the burger bar staff playing videos on there mobile phones shouting and laughing full blast all in a foreign language not caring about the customers one bit just eat orders ,it’s just a unwelcoming place never again for us unless it changes it’s like it has no management at all

We pre booked a table in August for a birthday on Christmas Eve x explained we would like to order pizzas on day. Arrived at 1pm to be told no pizzas available x no apology provided. Asked bar manager if we could order takeaway from dominoes which he agreed given circumstances x was very helpful. After eating pizza went to 4 eyes bakery to order coffee x cake. All cakes had been removed x wrapped up, we were told they were closed ( 2.30pm) so ended up going to greggs for cake. This place used to be a great venue but has gone down hill fast. For Christmas eve it should have been heaving but there were plenty of tables. Definitely not a way to run a business x I'm afraid we won't be back!

No atmosphere very cold. Went for Japanese, average food terrible service from waitress impolite miserable and un helpful. Charged for an extra meal too.

If you enjoy zero customer service without a smile and your food and coffee cold, you’ve come to the right place. If you’re brave enough to send your cold food back, be prepared for a verbal exchange with the rude and arrogant female staff (you know who you are). Just awful. Avoid at all costs.

Lovely space but very limited in choice of food. One of us had very dry cold sausage roll as they had run out of bacon Brie and cranberry sandwich, our original choice, at 12.30 and this was on the lunchtime menu! Waited 40 minutes for noodles from Nico Nico. Great sales pitch on their menu but two disinterested looking staff. No leadership evident so staff look unmotivated and bored. Won’t be coming again.

This place is convenient with plenty of parking. Clean and spacious for a morning coffee stop. The 4 Eyes bakery serves a nice cuppa and sausage Con.

Reviewing 4eyes bakery: Terrible service. Rude staff. Ordered on the app they processed only the drinks, left us waiting for over an hour until we queried where the rest of our order was (food), only to tell us they cancelled it as they’ve now run out of breakfast food. With no communication. Manager came to explain it was an “error in the system” whilst other staff sniggered in the background. The manager offered no solution except trying to refund which he said could take 3 days! Go across the street there’s a pub. Save yourself the disappointment and go there instead.
