Nonnas Chesterfield in Chesterfield

Nonnas is one of my favourite restaurants in Chesterfield. We always have an amazing service and the food is fresh and delicious. From pasta to pizza everything is gorgeous. I love that we feel the sauce is cooked last minutes. One of my favourite meal is the chicken parmigiana. They have a beautiful second floor for events. We had our venue for our wedding in December 2023. Tom the Manager made it so so perfect. Everyone that was there said it was the most amazing wedding they went. Came in to nonnas on a friday evening and everything was spectacular! Our server billy was absolutely amazing and definitely made our night xx I’ve tried one of the specials that was on the board and loved it! Went in for a couple of drinks afterwards up to the bar, it wasn’t too busy but the atmosphere was lovely. We come here quite often and definitely won’t stop any time soon!!!

Beautiful Sunday roast , busy lunchtime I feel for a reason, Sunday dinners used to be so so, now they are simply amazing !!! I had the beef and my partner had the chicken Great portion size and amazing quality ingredients !! We will be back!!

This was a Sunday evening, early. We were the only customers there all evening. By 7.00, the staff had closed the bar, turned off the bar lights and were staring at us, waiting for us to leave so they could go home. We weren't offered dessert. Food was mediocre at best. I used to go quite often, it's much worse than it once was , I won't go again

Husband had the beef sunday lunch and said it was very nice, carrots were hard though, but really nice otherwise. I had the pea and mushroom risotto and that was delicious!!

A lovely place to meet friends and have a nice meal. We benefited from having a 50% off voucher which meant the whole meal was really good value for money. Being a Tuesday teatime, it was quite quiet and by 8pm we were the only ones left but there didn't seem to be any push to get rid of us. Staff were lovely and friendly.

Nice enough but attention to detail by staff is required. Sat with a view of a big red biffa bin infront of the main window, beer glasses were dirty.

Great service, lovely staff, great starter of garlic mushrooms, and amazing tiramisu. I personally didn't enjoy my spaghetti bol, pasta a little dry, but there were 8 of us and everyone else enjoyed what they had, so I was probably just unlucky. Would definitely go again, and just try a different main xx

Opted for the fixed price lunch as a quick birthday lunch before heading elsewhere with family. We were all so impressed. Far exceeded our expectations. Food was freshly prepared and cooked from scratch, great quality and very, very generous portions. Service was friendly and helpful and a serious allergy was handled with care throughout. A friend and I went in for the first time for an evening meal. The waitress was very attentive and friendly however the food was awful. For starters we had Arancini and calamari which were passable. For the main we ordered a medium rare steak, it arrived on the well done side, and a lasagna which we had to send back as it was very bland, dry and didn’t taste right. The waitress offered to get us other food but we declined. She knocked 25% off of the bill for the steak and didn’t charge us for the lasagna.. We will not be back..

Nice place to pop in on route to visit our friends for a quick coffee and cake

A place to eat something in a hurry if you are very hungry....The tiramisu was also decorated with sugar. I'm trying to understand what's in the mind of a chef who doesn't use any eggs in Tiramisu and garnishes it with sugar on top. You have to have a little brain to decorate a "nauseating" cake because of mascarpone cream with sugar.

The menu is wonderful, plenty of gf options. We’ve been here many times, for a romantic dinner, lunch with friends, family brunch & a large party (family wedding). We always have a wonderful time. The food is consistently delicious. Very good gf options. The service excellent. Their Red Merlot is gorgeous! Great decor too. It’s definitely our favourite go to place what ever the occasion.

My husband and I had our wedding reception there, and we couldn’t fault them. The time the manager, Tom, took to making it the best day of our lives was just incredible. He was so accommodating and helping, making really thoughtful suggestions to make our day so special. He answered all my questions with such ease, and when it came to the day itself, all of the staff clearly worked so hard together to decorate for us and make the layout exactly how we wanted. To top it off, the food was absolutely fantastic. Our 32 guests that we hosted for food, plus 50 more who came later on in the evening, can’t stop talking about how amazing the food, staff, venue itself and the atmosphere was. We had the best day ever, and that was down to everyone at Nonnas who just made it so special!! Thank you so much everyone!!

I can’t praise Nonna’s enough. We had a large family celebration, 32 for a sit down lunch in the restaurant, followed by 65 for drinks, dancing & buffet upstairs in the evening. Every thing was faultless. The service was incredible. The food was outstanding. The wine amazing! The atmosphere perfect. The staff bent over backwards to make it a special day…. & it was absolutely fabulous. Thank you so much Tom & your incredible team of staff both front of house & superb chefs for making our daughter’s wedding celebration the most special, intimate & fun day. You made it seem effortlessly easy. Xxx

We actually came to a wedding. The food was a very pleasant change from the three course sit down you’d normally have at a wedding. Fresh salads , arinchini , meat plattes and vegi platters. Great atmosphere , the staff were friendly, energetic and efficient. Great layout upstairs too with a lovely breeze as we danced the night away.. 🤩😎

We recently had our daughter's wedding reception at this venue and it was the most perfect day. From the moment we first met the manager, Tom, to discuss potentially booking the venue, we got a good vibe. He was so helpful and went above and beyond to give us everything we asked for. Nothing was too much trouble, and his extremely helpful attitude made the planning so much less stressful. On the day, Tom and his team surpassed my expectations with what they delivered. The food and service were first class, and it was just the best day ever. A huge thanks to Tom and his team for a fantastic day.

Wow!! It's the first time I've actually eating here. Oh my the food was amazing. The staff were all friendly and super helpful. Thank you for a great evening. I would definitely recommend.

We had a celebration here last week. 22 people seated on 1 table, 11 of us pinned up against a wall, which would have been OK if we had a waitress to order drinks from but both staff stayed behind the bar. When I did get out to order a drink the guy behind the bar stood with his back to me, messing on his phone. I coughed a couple of times to get his attention but he really wasn't happy. We ordered a sharing platter of bread, which came with olives but no balsamic vinger or olive oil. Were we supposed to eat dry bread with olives? The main food did not come out together and people were waiting for everyone's to arrive but the last 3 meals where ages. No one came to enquire whether the food was OK, so my extremely salty carbonara was not reported to the chef. We made are own atmosphere that's why it's 5 stars.

Used the 2 meals and a bottle of wine for £39 deal ( email sign up required). The food was delicious.

On the 6th July I celebrated finishing cancer treatment with a lovely party at Nonnas. I literally cannot thank the staff enough for the most wonderful night. They were all absolutely fantastic and I’ve had so many messages from friends and family saying how lovely they all were. My party couldn’t have gone any better and it was finished by dancing the night away in the upstairs bar. Fantastic time had by all, thank you so much!

I have been to nonnas recently for meals with my partner and for events where I have hired the whole of upstairs and it is absolutely amazing!!! So we'll priced and could cater to all needs weather it be food requests or the actual room. I can not rate this place enough for a night out in the upstairs bar and terrace (so good on weekends) , a meal with loved ones or my fave to hire it. The staff will bend of backwards for you and the manager is absolutely amazing!! Makes you feel right at home. Can't wait to book another event

Only popped for a coffee which used to be the only decent thing left they served (including) food, and it was awful. Like filter coffee at it's worst! Service lovely and some staff trying hard.

100% worse Italian I've been to, but also one of the worse restaurants I've visited recently. Poorly cooked, dry and bland food, normally I'd mention to server who was OK.. but not much care here at all so pointless.. Need a decent chef here quick, but unfortunately it will probably just close hopefully sooner rather than later. I think nonnas in Sheffield has original owners, nothing to do with this one and is supposed to be much better.

Taste: Not the worst, but Pizzahut might do a better job than they did. Presentation: I'd no idea why they serve pasta with bowls that day. Not the most appetising. Service: Came at lunchtime where tables were empty. Waited 45 minutes then were served with mid food. They aren't rude. Just expect yourself served in a McDonald's.

Lunch for 2 that did not taste so good. Starters was a creamy mushroom bruschetta That's was OK apart for old rocket. The pasta was cold and only warm from the sauce. My seabass tasted out of date and 1 hour later me and my girlfriend was ill. The paint on the kitchen ceoling is flaking off and looks uncleaned. .

Service was poor, only 3 people were serving so can't blame the staff, they were rushed off their feet. Food was expensive and no better than what you'd get in a chain restaurant. Garlic bread was completely forgotten about until we reminded them and when it did finally arrive, it was almost raw. Would not recommend.

Disappointing visit. Food looked good but wasn’t seasoned properly. Staff were efficient but seems to have lost its sparkle.

Went for lunch dreadful meet and greet . Basically couldn’t be bothered. Then had go find a waiter. Soup of day was leek and potato which was fine so ordered and then it took another ten minutes before we were told it wasn’t on it was tomato and basil soup. When it came there was a sliver of bread had to ask for more bread which you have to pay for. Friend had bruschetta which was only one small slice but pricey for that. This place used to be so very good both day and night now it’s somewhere I won’t rush back to!

Not been to Nonna's for a few years but am still on the mailing list for offers. Received a 50% off food text message so decided to take advantage. Booked a table for 6.30 and there were two more tables of two in the restaurant. The goats cheese fritters for starters were very nice and I would order those again. The pollo pesto pasta for main I wouldn't order again, there was plenty of chicken (unlike some restaurants) but the pasta was overcooked and very soggy (definitely not cooked in an Italian way of al denté). The sauce was just pesto (like you have in a jar at home) and oil and the bowl was swimming in this runny basil liquid. I was expecting a creamy pesto sauce but maybe that was my mistake? It didn't seem to have had any seasoning so I had to add some salt. The waiter didn't ask if we wanted any pepper or parmesan until I requested some (which they usually do ask!). The gelato choices for dessert were very good (we had chocolate, vanilla and salted caramel because they didn't have any of the pistachio, unfortunately!) For the time we were there the two tables of two left and another two came in and a table of four. There were four staff that I could see. It's a shame because at that ratio I can't see it being open much longer (under this management anyway!) Would I go again? With a 50% off voucher? Most probably, at full price? probably not, sadly.

Call yourselves an Italian restaurant… so disappointing we haven’t been for years but it’s changed so much….. food really gone downhill and not Italian at all… top tip when u have an open kitchen don’t we open packet ingredients in front of your customers! You could at least make your own focaccia as ours came straight out of the freezer Deffo won’t be back for food and the bar upstairs.. so downhill not classy, very young crowd and very loud music… and not even decent music!

This is only the second time I have been here: the first time was a number of years ago & portion sizes were meagre to say the least. This seems to have been rectified and portions were much more generous - a little over-generous for the pizzas, however, this does not make up for other factors. Despite pre-ordering, we waited quite a while for food to arrive. Most starters were satisfactory, but the calamari was very rubbery and had obviously been sat waiting as it was barely warm. Mains were variable - the pizzas were generous in size, but there was a curious after-taste to the cheese. A couple of diners that had pasta also said their food wasn't very tasty and the lasagne was totally unpalatable and did not seem to have any seasoning at all. The fries were pale, under-cooked & hard. We didn't complain at the time as in a large party, if the food is replaced, you end up with some diners having finished whilst others are still waiting. I cannot fault the staff who were very pleasant, but I will not be returning any time soon.

It depends a little on who is cooking and heading the front of house staff, it's always good sometimes excellent.

Food wasn’t amazing and overpriced, we had the steak which wasn’t cooked how we asked for and very small. The service was terrible, we was asked to move upstairs to have a drink as soon as we had finished our meals (very rudely) Not somewhere we would be visiting again.

The overall experience was disappointing. We had an offer that they wouldn't honour, and the food was quite poor. Staff were friendly, but wouldn't have left a £15.00 tip, which was the amount we were forced to leave. One of our group had a Caesar salad which had that much garlic in and no Caesar salad dressing it was overpowering and dry. Over priced and underwhelmed. Won't be going again!!

I went with my two daughters Friday evening with a 50% off offer. Beautiful food, lovely atmosphere, very pleasant staff, and a very affordable bill too! Would highly recommend. Definitely returning. 🙂 Victoria.

Went for date night and it was lovely. Parking is for two hours free so when you arrive make sure you input your vrn. If you go over this time you will then need to pay outside on the machine. The staff were really helpful, friendly and professional. The food was delicious. We both had the mushroom bruschetta to start, I had the rigatoni pasta, with olives and anchovies it was lush! I am a meat eater but I didn’t miss the meat at all. Pudding was chocolate brownie as we usually have the tiramisu. I’d recommend either as they were delicious! The portions are good too. 10/10

Gone massively downhill under new management. Booked for a work meal, starters and mains were cold in the middle, mains were brought out before the starter plates were cleared away so we were eating with dirty plates on the table - surely this is basic! Had to ask for the sides we ordered to be brought out as they did not materialise - arrived when everyone had finished eating. The bill we were given was then incorrect and had items added to it which we had not ordered. To top it all off they now add a non-optional 10% service charge - for what service I'm not sure to be honest. There are plenty of nice Italian restaurants in Chesterfield - don't bother with Nonna's.

Had a pizza here on Christmas Eve which resulted in me getting food poisoning, ruining my Christmas. Won’t be eating here again!

Nicely decorated restaurant but the food took a good while to come out on a night which wasn’t too busy. Starter was nice but main was subpar, I ordered the chicken pesto pasta and it was severely lacking in flavour. Not great value for money either.

Came in yesterday for breakfast. Looks like things have gone downhill. Dirty table, cold meal, I think this was our last breakfast there for some time now.

Had our works Christmas evening buffet here, but to be honest, a few of us were quite disappointed in what was offered for the price. Not the best presentation. We had to ask for extra as their wasn't enough to go around for the numbers booked. We did complain, and each person received a £5 refund but would rather have had it right in the first place. We won't be booking again next Christmas.

Went to a baby shower.one Sunday afternoon very nice.

Booked for six people for the 3 course Christmas menu. All of us said it was one of the best Christmas meals we’d ever had (and we’ve been meeting up every year for decades). Very polite and friendly staff. Had also been for Sunday lunch previously which was also of excellent quality and value. Have no hesitation in recommending this place and will be back again soon myself. Forgot to take pics of starter and dessert as I had eaten them before remembering!

We went for the bottomless brunch. All was absolutely excellent... plenty of drinks and good selection, good food and a great atmosphere. Thank you to the hard working staff, as it was very busy but they kept their cool and were unflappable. The Bublé tribute singer was really good, got a real party atmosphere going. Would definitely go again.

We visit Chesterfield at least 5 times a year and always visit Nonnas for an evening meal. As other reviewers have said it used to be a fantastic experience- brilliant food and atmosphere. We visited this evening and the food was awful - goats cheese fritters to start which were undercooked - the cheese cold in the middle. We then had the chicken parmigiana which was dreadful - overcooked, tasteless, tough and accompanied by an oversized and overpowering portion of fries. It lacked any flair, attention to detail and was just awful. There were approximately 5 cooks (definitely not chefs) visible in the open plan kitchen and would have thought they would have been embarrassed to serve such an awful meal. Needless to say we will never visit again

Fabulous Bottomless brunch! We go to Nonnas whenever we are able to, restaurant is always lovely and welcoming … good always great! Decided to try the bottomless brunch with friends this Saturday, Absolutely amazing , food very different to the bog standard eggs on toast most places do! Cannot recommend enough 🤩🤩

It was such a shame as 12 months ago, I gave the restaurant a fantastic review. The meal and service were fantastic. Fast forward 12 months, and I see they are under new management, and its like a completely different restaurant. Firstly, we were right by the front door, and it was absolutely freezing. Secondly, the menu has reduced in size to only a few mains and pastas, of which they had run out of Lasagne! The meal came and most of it went back un eaten. Just tasted like cheap 'food service', which was flavourless and dry (Pollo Parmigiano) Service was good as it was the same waitress as last year (felt sorry for her) As I said, the new management has gotten it wrong and needs to be reverted back to the old menu. Unfortunately, we won't be going back until it does.

Wow wow wow , the food here is out of this world , so authentic and a great dining experience , myself and the hubby decided to go out for our 23rd anniversary meal and chose here as been recommended by friends , we were not disappointed to say the least .

My wife and I, thought we would give the 'Bottomless Brunch' a go. Tapas, with a reasonable list of cocktails as opposed to the usual prosecco. So, hopes were high for a good afternoon. The cocktails were below average. I had seven, and walked out after 90 minutes totally sober. Not that my ecpectation was to be killed crossing Chatsworth Rd, but at least to have felt the results of the magnificent 7. The tapas was, well, not great. Mostly bread, tomatoes and some poorly constructed cold, tough chicken kebabs. Not great to be honest. We were however close enough to the kitchen to be afforded the pleasure of hearing the foul language of the staff, very clearly, so there's that..!! Not on the revisit list, that's for sure.

Nonas used to be fab 1st time many moons ago trio of pork to die for this is the 3rd time we have gave it the benefit of the doubt horrid greasy or dry food no more trying 🙈🙈

Was looking forward to a birthday meal here but the food was really poor and not worth the money. The chicken parmigiana was like trying to eat a leather shoe, tough, dry and old. Yuck ! The pollo pesto with pine nuts was swimming in oil and I think the pine nuts had escaped the oil as there wasn’t any. The twice fried frozen chips were ok and that was unfortunately probably the best part of what should of been a good meal. Paid high prices for a very poor, mediocre at very best meal, and certainly won’t be recommending or returning. Only time we saw staff was upon ordering and then again at the end when we got the bill. No, would you like another drink, or is the food ok. Nothing.. very poor all round and one to avoid.

I have been visiting Nonnas for 10+ years. Back in the day it was a bustling place with lovely staff, excellent food, and great coffee. But in the past few years it has been going downhill and my experience at Nonnas today cemented that sentiment. I walked in and sat at a table that needed cleaning (I sat there because it was the only one in the sun). I was not greeted upon entry and in fact heard the server go tell colleagues in the back 'shes sat at that table'. Two staff came out to clean the table and did not acknowledge me at all - no smile, no hello, no eye contact. A cold and offensive welcome to Nonnas. Once they took the plates away one of the same servers came back to clean the table and again - no hello, no greeting, no contact. No conversation about what I wanted to order but rather she was grimacing. I have never experienced such rude behaviour by servers in my life. This place is too mediocre for the service to be so obtuse and insultingly rude. I left and took my business elsewhere - where I was indeed greeted with a friendly hello and warm smile upon entering that specific premise. I do not recommend Nonnas and advise others to frequent some of the much friendlier and nicer places in the area.

Dined at nonnas Saturday night had excellent service & food ….after I had paid my bill …was informed by a member of staff I could go into the newly refurbished upstairs bar & enjoy 50% off drinks for the remainder of the night ….wow what a deal

Me and my friends came in to nonna's last week for a overdue catch up. As soon as we had walked into the door we was welcomed and seated to our table. The service was quick with orders and the food arriving. I had the spaghetti carbonara which was lovely. We all had an amazing time and had left with a full stomach; I cannot recommend nonnas enough, definitely will be returning soon.

I came in with my brother a few days ago for a last minute meal, we had the garlic mushrooms and garlic bread, both were cooked to perfection! For mains we had the Romana pizza and the seafood pasta. I couldn’t recommend the seafood pasta enough!! So flavoursome and great portion sizes. Billy and Tom our waiters for the evening couldn’t do enough for us. Relaxed atmosphere, lovely Italian music. Will definitely be returning very soon

Minimum service, microwaved food, not my favourite. Sticky tables and condiment shakers. No salt in shaker, given knife and fork to eat spaghetti, no Parmesan cheese. No check back about food and most important tasteless. No return for us thank you.

Food was pretty good, although menu has slimmed down from what it once was. On the whole staff were friendly but no food check on any course which I personally don't like, and see as bad training considering the food is not that cheap. Would I come back here again... maybe but would not rush back
