Lombardi's in Chesterfield

The best Italian in Chesterfield. The atmosphere is great, the staff are very friendly and the food is amazing! I have an Italian friend and it’s where he always recommends. You know it’s got to be good if a native Italian is telling you to go!

Had a lovely vegetarian meal (Crespelle). We sat upstairs, which was very nice and actually preferable to downstairs, which is always very noisy.

Food was lovely, big portion sizes for the price, drinks also reasonably priced. Food was brought over fairly quickly, but rather slow bringing drinks. It was a busy Friday evening so this wasn't an issue.

An experience to remember. The place is tastefully decorated and well laid out. The staff are great and knowledgeable. The food was amazing and tasted great. Will want to go back if given the chance.

Lovely meal and staff very nice. Mussels, Mushrooms, Pasta, Pizza, our group has eaten most things, never had a bad meal 👍 Always our go to Italian in Chesterfield. 😋😋

Have been many times previously so was looking forward to an enjoyable birthday celebration. It turned out to be an underwhelming experience. We were in the “new” extension. Crammed in with too many other diners, sat on top shuffling chair backs…I suspect the number of covers is now too much for the size of kitchen. The service was off, food delivery disjointed and worst of all the pizza was dreadful. It had clearly been cooked and left. The base was tough, chewy and impossible to cut through with the knife. Very disappointing. If you want customers to look for an alternative venue you top it off by charging them £4.50 for a lime and soda. It was not value for money.

WOW. Lombardis is on another level now, we visited lasted Saturday and I can honestly say we have never had a better experience! The specials board was so innovative and full of flavour, all or table mentioned how the ingredients were well married and put together. The service was attentive from Christina and her team. Tip! Try the smoked burrata with orange and walnuts!! It’s world class.

Booked a table for 830pm. Yet again it was being occupied by the previous customers and you’re made to wait in the bar area. My partner and I got through nearly a litre of red wine before the table was ready. There seems to be no time cap on reservations meaning if you want to sit there for 2hrs after you’ve eaten and relax then you can. That’s not a problem, but don’t confirm further bookings that then need to wait. V v poor. Staff as always were very warm and welcoming, not their fault more a management issue. We won’t be returning.

Lovely ambience, perfect for a family dinner of authentic, delicious Italian food.

First time visiting and this little restaurant is a gem. Beautiful food and great service.

The presentation and service was good, however the food was not great, the flavors didn't work that well together - the starter was too sweet and way overpowered the Brie, the main I couldn't manage more than 1 ravioli into before it was too much, the flavor was so mismatched that it was giving me a headache - the sauce around it was beautiful but the ravioli filling was the issue. They were kind enough to remove this from my bill and I ordered a pizza in the end which was also not very enjoyable. I ordered a merlot and it tasted like vinegar which I'd expect from a cheap place, but not for how much I was charged for a medium glass. Overall for the price of this place I unfortunately wouldn't consider returning. I

We rang more or less last minute and were able to have a table for four mid week in mid Sep although the place was busy. The food was amazing. Two of us had the salmon and prawn tagliatelle, which we recommend. We were also serenaded by guitar for our two birthdays with a candle in our desserts!

Authentic family run Italian restaurant in the centre of town. Loved it so much we're going back tomorrow night!

We visited this restaurant on a Tuesday at the end of August while staying at the Premier Inn Chesterfield town centre, just over a couple of roads across the Donut roundabout, approx 4 min walk away. We booked a table which was a good decision as it was really busy for a Tuesday evening ! The decor is modern & the atmosphere buzzing. The staff were friendly and polite. My husband and I shared a garlic bread with tomato for a starter which was a lovely & light pizza base. I enjoyed my lasagne, it was authentic & piping hot. My husband was a bit confused by his calzone pizza, he didn't expect it to have bolognaise sauce, chicken & pepperoni inside it & bolognaise on the top, he's used to having ham, mushrooms, pepperoni etc, he felt it was a strange mixture & wished he'd ordered a normal pizza instead as these looked excellent. We enjoyed our meal, it seems a family run restaurant & very popular. We would return if in Chesterfield again, just my husband wouldn't order the calzone.

I always love coming to Lombardies. It always feels like I'm on holiday in Italy when we visit. A true authentic experience with really charismatic and attentive staff. Oh and the food is always fantastic too! Looking forwards to my next visit!

Our 3rd visit over the years. Excellent atmosphere, service and food. Highly recommended a visit. Was busy but the service was spot on.

Maybe we were just unlucky, but we waited more than half an hour for our order to be taken, more than an hour for our starters, and a full 1 hr 40 minutes for our mains to arrive, and they arrived lukewarm! Staff constantly asked us if we wanted more drinks but seemed unable to take a food order. Tbh if we would have just left if we could have guaranteed that somewhere else was available. Won't be going back.

This was our 5th visit to Lombardis! Food 100% 10/10! Service 1/10! Older chap that we have seen each time! Not interested, no sense of humour or personality!!we waited SO long for him throughout it was embarrassing! We eventually asked a younger chap for the bill! He was super efficient! We will come again as the food is so good! We actually stay at Casa to eat at Lombardis

A fantastic traditional Italian restaurant with great food and a good atmosphere.

First visit to this Italian restaurant and we were very impressed with the service and food. It was for my birthday, and Antonio kindly played his guitar at our table, which made my night very special. We shall definitely visit again for an authentic Italian meal.

Great place to go for any occasion. We went for a months birthday. They can cater from single diners to largw groups. Keep an eye out for the owner serinaiding tables with happy birthday. Cant recommend enough.

Meal for my girlfriend’s birthday. Booked well in advance. Waited a while to be seated. Took a while to get our order once seated. Asked for a dessert menu which didn’t arrive. Had to ask for the bill twice. I think the restaurant needed more staff rather than poor staff quality, we were treated very nice by the staff we spoke to. A man played happy birthday on the guitar which was very nice and I really appreciated. Food was excellent. Would recommend and would come again.

The best pasta I've had, and I've been to Italy quite a few times. Try the linguine alla scoglio. It's delicious. Waiting staff were excellent too.

Racism to people is not okay, do better and get it sorted.

Don’t take this as a hate comment, I’ll only state my true opinions on my experience here. First things first, we had a reservation for 8:45, but we were only seated around 25 minutes later. It then took another 40 minutes or so for food to be served. That being said, I understand that it may be hard to predict how long it takes for the previous customers to finish their food, so that’s fine. We however didn’t appreciate the crowded area that we were told to wait in, since I do feel bad for the employees and others who were trying to get through. This is one of the more important issues I’d like to address - the racism we experienced from one of the staff members, an older man possibly a manager, but that’s beside the point. I understand that it may be somewhat rare to have a large group of asian-looking people dining there, but that doesn’t justify much in my opinion. We were asked/told things such as “which one of you speaks english?” “Where are you from? Oh london? No no, I’m asking where you’re from” “I know your people like to.. (insert stereotype)” “Are you speaking Chinese, Japanese, or English (while we were ordering)”, that really isn’t okay. I fully get that most of my family members don’t have great English compared to us teens with a developed “british” accent from growing up in London (where we clearly stated we were from), but it was comprehensible to say the least. They may think that they were being “friendly”, but that really is a type of racism, not to mention it was uncomfortable and awkward when he leaned in. It didn’t help that he came out with a guitar, stood next to us teenagers at the table, and started playing stereotypical “tik-tok chinese” songs on it. They were all clearly annoyed, since we did specify that we are NOT chinese, nor are we from China. The random “arigato”s (japanese) and “xiexie”s (Chinese) were really off putting too. We did not find that acceptable at any point, and I really thought that ruined the experience, and truly sharpened my understanding of the racism we are vulnerable to once we leave diverse cities such as London. That aside, the food was great. The pizza was flavourful, and the lasagna was nicely made. It’s just a shame that the act of one person had kind of ruined the overall experience, but I’m hoping you’ll see this and realise that maybe your idea of “friendly” was quite offensive and you’d now have a better understand of how we feel as the receiving end of things. Once again, no hate to this restaurant, the younger staff were rather helpful and friendly. Even the guitar playing at neighbouring tables brought up a lively atmosphere, just not the part where the stereotypical songs were played next to our table. Still, it pains me to know a few of us are scarred for life, not in a dramatic way unfortunately. Perks to them for having great food though, I’m sure it’ll be a great 5-star worthy place to dine once the racism part is all sorted out.

Visiting my son and daughter in law, we were at a loose end and needed some food. We walked in on spec and despite the restaurant being very busy they seated us straight away. Service was excellent, very friendly. We both had Pizzas and they were really good quality. From my seat I could see into the wood fired oven and see all the action. Really enjoyed the experience and would recommend you give it a try

Had the pleasure of a 60th birthday meal here, lovely atmosphere, some lovely staff. One slightly upsetting situation over their way of cooking /making pizza. (4 were eating pizza from this party of around 12+) Watery tomato puree (dripping) barely cooked topping.. With a very burnt (apparently premade frozen) base. Many folk (other tables) seemed to be displeased with the pizzas but we were all told, it's just how they're made, I'm sorry, no it's not. Not one person makes pizza this way, the water was dripping, the topping slid off upon moving, it was not grease or oil from cheese, it was water.. The base was soggy and disgusting from the water..it was sick inducing, The burnt charred bottom is literally carcinogenic! Not slightly well done. Your way of dealing with this situation was not customer friendly, I work in CS, with a lot of customer turnover, this particular member of staff needs new training, because she was rude!! The other meals were very well done and enjoyed by other members of the party, the service of the waiting staff was great, lovely Staff. One of the pizzas were taken off the total payment but the actual behaviour of dealing with this was just pathetic and immature... Only one of the pizzas was mostly eaten and that's because the young man felt so uneasy and uncomfortable because of his anxiety and other issues.. He ended up unwell.. It's a shame, because just a few months ago the pizzas were amazing. I have pictures but apparently there's no where to post them.

Really cant fault this restaurant from start to finish. From the young lady who sorted us a table in the bar. To the very pleasant waiting staff. The quality of the food is top notch. To the guitarist who sang for my birthday. Great atmosphere, great food and drinks. What more could you want.

Probably the best food in Chesterfield, absolutely never lets you down. The place is always packed with a lively atmosphere. You just need to manage your expectations on service time because they are very ‘continental’, you’re there for a long time and a good time!

We chose Lombardi as one of our party is vegan and they appeared to have the best vegan menu. Everyone enjoyed their meal well cooked and great service. Cannot recommend to highly as everything was perfect.

It’s been awhile since I had such an amazing pasta!! Words can’t describe how delicious the pasta was! The garlic sauce for the calamari and the french fries was soooo good too! I will definitely come back for more!

Excellent, Excellent …. Excellent, super-efficient staff, extremely gracious and accommodating. I walked in off the street on what was a busy Friday evening for the restaurant. The Matre de, 'Hope' (charming name), explained they were extremely busy but I could have a table for an hour and half as the table was reserved. The staff were more than obliging, efficient and exceptionally polite and jolly. The food was delicious, served on warm clean plates. The bill was very reasonable and worth every penny. It’s a while since I ate at a restaurant where the staff are well trained in every aspect of service. I am so pleased they could fit me in. Highly recommend.

The lobster linguine and tagliatelle boscaiola is incredible. We both love each dish so much that we eat half then swap (if this is a crime, arrest me 😂). When the sea bass is on the specials menu, order it, it's cooked perfectly! The desserts are lovely too.

Well what can I say. The food here in INCREDIBLE! We visited this restaurant after a recommendation and I’m so glad we did. The food was perfectly cooked and tastes devine.

Great food, service slightly slow but acknowledged by manager and didn't matter as Kai kept us brilliantly topped up with wine!

Would rate less than 1 if possible. We have eaten here before on many occasions and thought it was a great restaurant, how far it has fallen, we were beyond disappointed waste of £114 should have went elsewhere. Night started off with drinks being spilled everywhere by the waitress, which could happen to any of us, but it did set the tone. About 3/4 of an hour later we managed to order. Very strange behaviour and interaction from the waiter, who kept telling us he was being funny but was actually just making us feel uncomfortable and awkward. Then another 45 minutes later our food finally turned up after we managed to catch the eye of another waiter, who there seemed to be many of milling about looking about and serving no one, well certainly not us. Two of our party had fish, this was strongly smelling unpleasant and I quote slimy, it didn’t feel cooked properly. Unfortunately they couldn’t fill up with veg as the share between 2 plate was more of single portion. Just to cap it all off we were also treated to the background music of cackling drunken ladies with no sense of volume control.This was supposed to be a celebration meal, absolute disaster. We didn’t complain at the time as we just wanted to leave without making a scene. After being previously retuning patrons over many years, we will never eat there again . Used to recommend to others now would suggest going elsewhere

I reserved months ago because I love the food here so I can 100% say stunning food!!! But unfortunately we had to ask to be served multiple times, the wait on food was very long and our party had all had enough after being there from 19:15- 22:15 for two courses so I didn't get to have pudding on what was a very special night for me. I did get sang to by one of the waiters with a guitar at the end which was nice but it didn't make up for the fact everything was super slow + Some of the party did find prices a bit expensive for what they had eg a basic margarita pizza was almost £18 I believe.

You've got a great reputation but you don't make someone who uses a wheelchair welcome. You can't fit your wheelchair into the toilet. Who agrees to go a restaurant who's toilets are out of action? You talk of addiding extra features to your establishment. Don't you realise that people with disabilities have money to spend too or is our money not welcome too? Oh and the front door. You try opening that when you are in a wheelchair! Why oh why does Tripadvisor list Lombardi's as wheelchair accessible?

This is our favourite local meal for family occasions and nights out. Lovely people service and food.

Very nice! We went on a Saturday night, the place was very busy but in a good way, creating a lovely atmosphere. The food was lovely (the spare ribs were amazing). We had a great time, well done.

We booked in as a large group for my fiancées 30th and the experience was outstanding. Food was perfect, atmosphere was great and the guitar playing was the icing on the cake. Would fully recommend it to anyone, brilliant evening!

Turned up with no reservation on a Wednesday night not local to the area didn’t expect to have to book however the staff soon fit us in at the bar, very attentive friendly and professional superb quality food would 100% go back if I’m ever in the area again

We visited this restaurant around 18.30 on Saturday. Expecting it to be quiet. It wasn't. It was busy which is always a good sign. Service was excellent. The food was lovely and the atmosphere was nice. Could not fault anything. Nice to see Luke still there. We were there on his first night a couple of years ago. He looked after us then and again tonight. Excellent Service.

Fantastic food well worth a visit

Having recently visited Naples in December, we tried the local pizza, pasta etc...very nice obviously! 😋 On returning home we were still wanting an Italian food fix. This place went above and beyond our expectations. The food is divine! Highly recommend it. Super cosy too.

Amazing food, amazing staff. Se came for a relaxing evening away and chose to eat here, definitely one of the best places we have eaten. Very reasonable in price too.

Very good food, as a large group we had to pay a deposit which is fair enough. The food arrived at the same time which is no mean feat for a group of 20 eating different things. We had to go up and get our own drinks but probably worked out better than splitting a bill.

Booked In Advance and glad we did. This place is popular for a reason and was full. Taken to our table in the extension part, which is nicely decorated and clean. We were sat next to the metal fire door which was drafty but not enough for me to ask for another table. The staff were attentive and knew their menu. The food was lovely and all four of our party really enjoyed the meal and drinks.

lovely lovely lovey!!!! i can't say enough about how wonderful this place is. Atmosphere was impeccable. We had a lovely server called Eva i could not recommend her enough. Her knowledge of the dishes was truly outstanding the way that she commuted around the work place was wonderful. She is truly amazing at what she does. The dishes could i even say enough about that. we had the risotto and lasagna. The flavours popped like in no other place it was a fusion of flavours congested into one impeccable dish. The restaurant had a slick design that attracts the audience to dive into further dishes. I will be 100% returning to lombardis a true experience.

came here with my family the other day, the food was incredible and i highly recommend! The overall service was impeccable and we felt very looked after by the staff. We had a waitress called Eva and she was wonderful and very sweet! loved the experience and will definitely come again!

Just had a birthday meal here and had to wait 1hour 20 mins for our main course to arrive. We watched a table arrive after us and leave before we were served our food. There was apparently a mix up with our order. I had to chase our order on several occasions with very hungry children waiting. We won’t be returning. Such a shame as heard great things. We had our breads and olives reimbursed but I don’t feel it was good enough.

After all the hype we were disappointed. A group booking (25), we arrived on time and had to wait with no direction from staff of where to stand, we got in peoples way and had to shuffle around. We had to wait an hour from starter to main course. I had calzone which was dry and over cooked and expensive. The staff were rushing around and stressed. Overall experience was disappointing.

I had heard good things about lombardis, so when we had tickets booked nearby I was excited to try it. It did not disappoint! I had booked, and I'm glad, it was full on a Wednesday night! All the food was perfect and the staff were lovely. I've already recommended it to a few people.

The wait was ridiculous considering we was a large party that pre ordered & apparently spitting the drinks bill was a massive issue, also if u don't take American express cards , just say , pls don't try to embrass me saying I can't afford to pay.

Booked as a group in advance and pre ordered meals, meals were ordered for 20.30 didn't arrive until 22.00hrs staff were also very rude and rushed off there, feet I felt that the restaurant had too many customers which is a postive but not enough staff so hence left waiting this has left me feeling put off and I wouldn't go again

Excellent food, service try their best but they're rushed off their feet. Too many guests and not enough staff. This resulted in slow service. Long waiting times for drinks for example. It was their busiest period (Saturday night). Also there's a really grating alarm that kept going off from the kitchen, surely there must be a better system than that? Nobody wants to go for a meal and be subjected to random alarms blaring out. This is my second review that has been downgraded from a 5 to a 4 for these issues. Again, top notch food👌🏻
