Went 2 a wake there, food & drink OK but maybe the building needs a bit of TLC

Lovely little place, nice atmosphere and staff were very polite & on the ball. Comfy room although the bed was too hard for my liking. Would stay again though.

Great location to stay to visit the New Forest. The room was clean and on the large side. The continental breakfast started at 8am. We enjoyed the stay.

Very nice place. Only problem at the moment is that they have lost their carvery chef so no roast meals on a Sunday. The menu is accordingly a little reduced but what there is is very good.

Unfortunately we have just returned from an overnight stay at this establishment. Everyone was helpful on arrival but facilitated where all closed at 6pm. This morning we met another couple who could not find anyone around and the dining area for breakfast was locked. They left without breakfast. We continued to knock on all entranced doors which where locked to no avail. My husband then saw an emergency contact number which was answered by a young lady who was not due to start work until 9.30am. She said she would get to us as soon as possible. We then realised we were at the establishment on our own. God help if there had been an emergency. This was not a good experience and we will not be returning.

Popped in here earlier with my family and I will never go back! Poor service, terribly run staff and business! Over priced and even got ripped off! What a waste! Whoever the owner is seriously needs to consider selling if anyone would buy it! Totally run into the ground! And you can clearly tell why as soon as you step in there no one cares! Such a shame as in the right persons hands it could be amazing!

It's just poor all round... staff and service rude and so unwelcoming, food so sad you could make better at home or even buy better from m&s!

Such a shame that rather than embracing a community spirit by letting local families use their parking facilities for their children's Sunday morning football, probably benefiting from sales of coffees and breakfast items, with the potential to welcome them back later for lunch or drinks, they prefer to install parking control measures to shoo them away and fine them. What a short sighted attitude and one I suspect more likely to actually harm their business. I fir one will not be putting my business their way in future!

Just got home from here, after waiting for an hour and a half and still no mains, no apologies just oh, one of the fryers is broken and we've only got one chef. Only 3 tables needing service. Such a shame as was a celebration for my husbands birthday.

Visited for breakfast. Price wasn't really warranted by the quality of food. Bacon and beans had obviously been sat under a hot lamp for a period of time and the eggs were burnt around the edges. Service was good though. Not sure I'd revisit.

Not as good as last year, will not be returning.

Had an amazing meal with great service from when we arrived till the time we left. Lovely location too and would recommend to anyone. Can't wait to visit again

Had a great afternoon and stayed over night to visit friends and family. Rooms are nice enough for the money. With no real complaints. Useful if you need to visit the area.

We arrived by Bristop in a motorhome and had a drink. Very noisy parking until 1 a.m. cars in the parking lot with very loud music as well as the pub!! We wanted to take some water to fill the ccar a little but someone from the pub told us no (even though it was indicated in the guide)! 13 pounds of consumption for a noisy parking lot! To flee !

We were here with the motorhome and two dogs. This pub is very nice, very clean and very, very friendly. The food was very good and we were able to go for a walk with the dogs because there is a large, beautiful park behind the pub.

Had an ad-hoc lunch there yesterday. Was gorgeous food, reasonably priced and in great surroundings.

Went down for a coffee. Closed due to staffing problems one sign said. Limited food service times now. They have problems. No one around to ask.

Stayed in our camper so didn't see rooms, but food staff and service great. If you stay please have food/drinks so they keep welcoming campers and motor homes. 😁

Great place for a lunch time tea

Not very welcoming. The young girl working was making us feel on edge. Very over priced and wouldn’t accept the discount I was given. There was no chef so only had the option of ordering a overpriced panini ! Won’t be returning.

Amazing experience. Staff are always kind and welcoming, especially Chloe, Viv, Ella & Laura. Whoever owns this establishment is lucky to have such lovely and attentive staff :).

Came in Monday last week for a drink, the barn has a beautiful pub area. Young lady serving was lovely and chatty. Such a nice place very homely.

Stayed over in our Motorhome. Big portions!

The Barn has really gone downhill with poor service, slow miserable staff and the the whole place was empty with no atmosphere.

The food was delicious. It was the first time I didn't need to put salt on my roast Sunday, very tasty. The service was also very good, very kind and cordial.

Just stopped here to visit one of our favourite spots in the New Forest. Comfortable. Reasonable price. Friendly staff. I'm very disappointed with breakfast, though.

Spent a nice weekend at this place. Nice, clean and quiet, free continental breakfast, and evening portions are massive. One of the best fish and chips

Not visited for a few years, so under new management. Used for a lunchtime function, staff very friendly. Cake selection looked very scrumptious. Need another visit to sample the food. Not on an attractive site as on a busy road but rear overlooks fields. Very handy for High Street, railway and coast.

Went there on 8th December for Xmas party meal with 23 other members of COPD group. Were told at time of booking we'd be in Central room under mezzanine but on arrival got put in conservatory. Room extremely cold, no heating, nothing done to improve it. Several of our group now very unwell. Shocking way to run a business. Complaint lodged with owner Charles Bruske. Surprise surprise, a month on and no response from Charles Bruske!!!!!

Having negotiated our way round the large puddles in the car park in total darkness we managed to find our way into the restaurant. We had a warm welcome from the staff and were seated at our table. At this point we were advised that 6 of the mains on the menu were not available as " the menu was being changed" Not sure why you would stop doing items on the menu until their replacements were in place but hey ho! We each chose something else from the menu. One of our party chose Fish and Chips as that was still available. 5 minutes later we were told that even that was no longer available. This now mean that 7 of the 17 mains were not available. Unbelievable!. Having chosen another alternative we waited with some trepidation but thankfully when the food arrived it was actually very good. The young waiting staff were very good and very apologetic and embarrassed that this was happening. Obviously they are being let down by the management. Just to top the evening off, when we ordered dessert we were then advised that custard was no longer available! The restaurant was also a little cold. We won't be going back. Very disappointing .

Went with my girlfriends for a high tea! Was absolutely brilliant and we had great service, had such a wonderful time would definitely recommend!

Exactly the same as the dining experience of the Lady on the 8th .l came on the 15th I was really cold and so were the rest of my fellow diners ,who were by the way from the local stroke club and very susceptible to the cold I and my friends left early before the dessert was served because we were so cold.The manager even unplugged the heater near our table unbelievable.Dont go there!!

The photos of the place look much more warm comfortable and inviting than it actually is. It is literally very cold and the coffee from Purbeck roasters wasn't all that good.

Not for business as breakfast starts at 9am. That said the fish and chips for finner was very good. Not sure about it but would go again when I'm Working in New Milton. Now thats nice place!

Two separate ratings on this post - the venue and the accommodation. 5⭐️ for the venue! The place is beautiful. Beautifully decorated, a really relaxed and cozy feel. I came here for a wake and I have zero complaints. The food was delicious and the drinks were great too. I felt at ease here and the pleasant atmosphere and kind staff really pulled into this. 3.5⭐️ for the accommodation. The room was very basic, the continental breakfast was the bare minimum and there was no option for any hot food - in my opinion it was not worth the £100 price point. The beds were not very comfortable and the room was kinda outdated. However it was spotless - hats off to the cleaners. Overall, my favourite part of this place was the staff. They were incredible. They were very friendly, kind and understanding. Nothing was too much trouble and they were more than happy to help and assist. They served us well and attentively. Plus they didn’t force us out when the place was closing - which we really appreciated. You can tell that it’s a nice environment to work in as this reflected the staff! If we’re ever in the area, we’ll gladly come again.

No more Sunday Carvery, just a choice of roasts and vegetarian options. Find a table and wait for table set I e which was a bit slow, had to keep asking for order to be taken, apparently 3 waiting staff down. Food came out promptly after order placed and was presented really well and was very tasty too. Finished plates could have been taken away quicker, and were done so by a waitress attending to an adjacent table who then noticed the empty plates. Let's hope they get their staffing problems rated as food was excellent. A saxophone player played in the background.

This place is a little gem. We booked at the last minute and were so lucky to find The Barn. Situated in the middle of the New Forest just outside New Milton it would be ideal to explore the area. We only stayed one night in order to catch the IOW ferry from Lymington, only 20 mins by car. The rooms are functional with comfortable beds, TV and well equipped bathroom. The evening meal choice was good and well cooked. Be aware that breakfast is not cooked but still a good selection including cereals, toast and beverages. The staff are very friendly and the building, as the name suggests, is built around a barn. It has a very nice atmosphere. For the price, this place is outstanding value for money and you'd be hard pushed to find anything better in the area. Highly recommended.

This hotel was just so relaxing …just felt comfortable and at home …very clean and comfortable room and lovely staff….very close to new forest Bournemouth and all the lovely places around of interest ….maybe a little tired in places but the relaxed atmosphere totally made up for that and very good value for money

Came away to the New forest for the weekend, and wanted to find somewhere for a Sunday Roast, and found this place on google. I have got to say, its the best Roast Dinner we have ever had from a restaurant!. Next time we visit the new forest we will be back. The atmosphere of the barn, was relaxing, with mood music playing in the background, the staff are very friendly, and the barn itself was very nice and clean. Darren & Amy

20 min wait for service to order drink and view menu. Had to get up from table and ask as other people arrived after us and were served before us.

A sad time saying last farewell to a friend. Service, food perfect.

Souffle solid, Chicken dried out, service stopped after and hour as staff disappeared and chef ignored us. Very bad experience and won't return.

Very friendly, helpful and welcoming staff. Our small party booked two rooms for two nights while visiting friends nearby. The rooms were clean and fresh with their own keys to the outside so we could come and go as we pleased. The restaurant was very good. Definitely more a bar/restaurant with accommodation than a traditional hotel but I'm sure many will appreciate it for what it is. Convenient for the New Forest and the Hampshire/Dorset coast. I was rather sad to leave. I hope to return for a longer stay.

The food was amazing and cooked from scratch. Food was cooked to a high standard. Definitely the best chef they have had at the Barn to date. The waitress service was excellent. Will definitely be back again.

Been twice. 4* first time, for a meal & cocktails. Knocked down to 2* as the 2nd time we went, just for cocktails, they weren't serving them because they were short-staffed; very disappointing and a long walk for nothing. Phone ahead as you can't count on their service provision.

We were a bit worried by some reviews but like to use our judgement. We were not dissapointed. Food was well cooked and a usual waiting time. Staff sang happy birthday for grandaughter. There was 2 areas of seating and on a sunny day lots of outside seating. Will be back

We visited twice once to just check it out. then we booked for an evening meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful on both occasions giving us taxi numbers and advice on the food. The food was delicious and although we didn't try the cakes this time we did think they looked lovely.

My husband and I came here this evening for our wedding anniversary meal. Haven’t been here in years. Today was not disappointing, the atmosphere was lovely, background music was great, food quality was brilliant and tasty. Quick service, the waiter and waitress were lovely. Bravo The Barn!

Fantastic food, both my husband and I had the special of pork ribs with sweet potato fries, sweetcorn and homemade coleslaw. Both impressed with quality of the food with a great price. Our waiter Kornel was attentive throughout. Highly recommend! Oh and the cakes are sublime!

Booked a meal 18.30 for a Saturday recently, turned up early at 18.20 and ordered our food. Waited until 19.15 for our food went and enquired and was told it had not even been put on the system and said they would sort it, at which point we paid for our drinks and left. Totally unacceptable as only 4 other people in the restaurant so not even the excuse that they were busy.

95th birthday meal. Very ordinary Sunday lunch, very little choice of mains and desserts. Chose gammon which was more like slices of chewy bacon! Would not visit again or recommend. You have not commented on the 'gammon', there were 3 roast potatoes which were in my opinion undercooked, not crispy on the outside. Regarding desserts the choices were ice cream, sorbet, sticky toffee pudding or chocolate brownie. No prepared cold dessert on a warm day such as cheesecake, lemon meringue, sundaes or Eaton mess.

Haven’t been here for a while. Last time we went they didn’t have half the stuff on the menu, and the other half took what felt like a week to come to the table. Today went in there, HUGE IMPROVEMENT. The two ladies working there had their heads screwed on properly, were very nice and friendly and had great interactions with the customers. The chips were red hot and cooked perfectly and the brownie from the bakery section was honestly one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Just wish they still did breakfast haha. Will be returning soon :)

Been here a few times now. Has changed a bit from the last time we came. Seemed more of a relaxed atmosphere this time around, always loved the pretty little courtyard and it looked really beautiful out there. Lots of seating so would be ideal for a celebration, Food was really delicious and good portion sizes ( my burger was huge!!). Thoroughly enjoyable and the young lady serving was very professional, Will definitely continue to visit.

The Barn is a wonderful place and all the staff are great. Nothing was too much trouble. The complimentary breakfast was really well received and excellent quality. I particularly liked the crumpets with the toast. Gavin took care of everything for us while May waited on us at meal times. We'll definitely be back for a longer stay at this fabulous Inn.

The barn is such a lovely place. The food we had today was really nice and reasonably priced. It came out quickly too. The staff was friendly. We were also blessed with a lovely day so we got to enjoy lunch al fresco.

Had a private function (wake) nice comfortable surroundings with a lovely good variety and well presented buffet the staff where welcoming, attentive and warm and friendly and deserve a special mention 💕👏well recommended

Was good first time we went poor on second visit complained about the lamb having lots of fat on it basically weren't interested

Had a wonderful stay here ❤. We were attending a wedding so booked two nights .it was perfect for the church Mary Magdelene and such a relaxing place . The staff were wonderful with my 6 year old son and he loved the toast machine when we went for breakfast 😀. He had an unsettled night on the first evening and a bit of an accident but the staff were wonderful with him and the room was changed without fuss. We went for lunch at the Barn today,it was how first visit to the Barn in new Milton,we were very please with how lunch,the staff were very friendly & the food was very nice.

Not good .it's that simple.but try for yourself.as this is just my report.

Nice pub the staff there are really friendly helpful and you can park up with a caravan
