The Barge Inn in Doncaster

We called in on the way to North Yorkshire, it was a little hard to find(we nearly gave up but we’re ravenous so persevered) found it alongside the river…. The clue is in the name🙄 the food is not fancy but beautifully cooked and really well priced. Scampi and chips and burger and chips for around £25. Nice pub feel and the staff are lovely.

We went for Christmas dinner at the barge inn the staff made it amazing from start to finish we really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was lovely all 5 courses ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This place has the best people in the world . Alan Mac will sort everything you want. The Myers will sort your footpaths . Guaneria can help you with boating problems. Tim can clip your dogs toe nails. Nip can get you a Lorry. The beer is great , the bar staff are great. Fred is nicest old man you could want to meet. The food is AA star. Dave Thomas will repeat the same jokes for 20 years. It's warm, unless is's cold outside and cold unless it's warm outside. (or the other way round!) Also the door handle works upside down. Anyway don't visit because we don't like strangers. LOL

Found this place by accident about 3 weeks ago and it’s the second time we have been. We like eating by the water’s edge but couldn’t see the water this time because of a moored narrow boat. We both had the steak and Old Peculier pie with chips and mushy peas. All items cooked fresh, piping hot, the pie was packed with high quality meat and served with a jug of gravy. The pie’s pastry was really short and sat a little heavily in the stomach but this is a personal whim. Overall it was excellent and great value for money. The cook has set herself very high standards. I’m looking forward to the 3rd visit already!

We went here for food and drinks Saturday afternoon, there were four of us. It was really busy but I’ve got to say the service was excellent, we weren’t waiting any time for our drinks and food. The food was absolutely delicious and all fresh, really impressed and we will be returning. Nothing seemed to much trouble and we were made to feel really welcome, great afternoon.

Lovely evening. Great atmosphere. Superb fresh food and really friendly staff. Well worth a visit for four alone.

Excellent home cooked meal all freshly prepared. Welcoming staff who are there to make sure your food is perfect. You need to visit and sample their menu. Sunday roast brilliant too!

The food served in the Barge is always delicious. There's a great menu to choose from and the staff are keen to make sure you are happy with your meal. The bar serves my favourite drink too - rose lemonade. Puddings are to die for as well. The venue is slowly improving which is a sign of success. I recommend a baby change facility as it would make life easier and a safety guard around the canal edge in the outside seating area as I get very nervous if my little one goes outside to see the boats and ducks. If you would like a nice meal, a quality Sunday dinner or even a snack I'd definitely recommend The Barge. It's the best place to eat in Thorne, Doncaster, without a doubt.

First time we visited, Could not fault the Guinness, quite a few in having Sunday dinner. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Will return to sample the food,All in all,was a good atmosphere.

Went for a birthday meal and I've got to say the steak pie was one of the best I've ever taster. Steak was so tender and the gravy was mouth watering. Very welcoming and friendly.
