Lovely environment, we ordered triple cooked chips, onion rings, garlic bread - food came out leathery and not hot, clearly been under the heat lamp for too long . We were starving so chewed through it - just not good enough .

Came in the other day after poor service at the Cross Keys pub. Friendly pub, nice atmosphere. Enjoyed a few drinks, Merrydown cider was delightful. Nice warm fire on the go. Great service.

This lovely Country pub really has turned a corner under Paul's management ! The staff are all fantastic, atmosphere is just lovely, it is warm and cosy, spotlessly clean, lovely open fire, dogs welcome, less than 5 minutes drive from MK city centre, 5 minute walk from Willen Lake, we love it !

Group of 8 including our 23 month old granddaughter were served wonderfully by Allison. Everyone enjoyed their lunch.

I recently visited the Barge Inn and I have to say, it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The service was exceptional—staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely made you feel welcome. Every detail was taken care of with a smile, making the atmosphere warm and inviting. Now onto the food—absolutely fantastic! Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The menu had a great variety, offering both traditional pub favorites and some creative twists. I highly recommend the Fish cakes and chicken skewers; they were a real standout! If you’re looking for a place that combines great food with top-notch service, The Barge Inn is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be returning soon! Thanks Paul and the team for the amazing time.

Had a super celebratory Sunday lunch here in September. Apart from a chair on a wobble, all other aspects were very good, or better. A recommended venue for a special meal, but reasonably priced - and good value - enough for any Sunday.

Our second time coming to the Barge recently and it was very enjoyable. Great service, lovely food and great hospitality. Really enjoyed the visits and I’m coming back again today and in November. Highly recommended.

Great place for a Saturday morning breakfast.

Excellent food, a warm welcome, all the staff were friendly and attentive. We felt valued as customers, nothing g was too much trouble. Keep up the good work as we will be returning very soon

Regularly visit the Barge and our visit on Tuesday for a meal was superb. We were looked after by Paul the Manager and Kirsty at the bar. Great atmosphere, service and food.

We’ve visited (with a small child) this bar twice without making a reservation. Yesterday, around 7 PM, the chap behind the bar asked if we had booked a table (bald man). When we said we hadn’t, he informed us that there were no tables available, despite the fact that almost all of them were empty. I pointed out that I could see plenty of vacant tables, to which he replied that they would all be occupied within 20 minutes (there’s a vast number of tables). There was no apology or any sign of regret; it was a very curt response from the manager. Absolutely dreadful service; we certainly won’t be returning!

We visited The Barge about a year ago having not been since just after lockdown. We we told they'd just reopened the kitchen following a refurb. As a result half the menu was unavailable (we were not told about this upon booking), even down to not having Mayonnaise. We spoke with the manager who apologised and we agreed as it had been a one off we would return. This return visit was for Sunday dinner last weekend. On arrival we waited to be seated, after being ignored for over 5 minutes, we asked a member of staff if someone could seat us to no response. We were then informed there were no roasts left, at 4:30 pm. We were further told the pork belly was unavailable. We ordered our food and 20 minutes later were told the calamari and scotch egg was also unavailable and had to amend our order. Starters were enjoyable but an excessively long wait followed by an even longer wait for the mains. Two of the mains had to be returned. The lamb was overcooked and mainly fat, the second time it was the opposite end of the scale and pretty much raw. Whilst the dish was remade the side were left at the table to go cold. The duck pizza seriously lacked duck, 4 onion slices, no hoisin sauce and minimal tomato sauce and cheese. The pizza was left on the table whilst more duck was cooked, when the duck arrived the pizza was cold and couldn't be cut. Neither meal was eaten. Having complained we then received the bill to which we find hasd items we did not received on. To top it off this "pub" even ran out of two drinks we were having half way through the meal. We will never return, truly appalling all round.

Really lovely food, drink, atmosphere and service, will definitely be back! A great little pub in Woolstone.

Sunday lunch 3x adults 1x 1yr old Food was ok, roast potatoes I would say not particularly "good" Overall it was OK. 1X had Turkey,1x had the trio the other the beef.The 1x yr old eat of our plates. 1x pint of larger,1x 1/2pint larger shandy and 1x pint of Guinness.All 3x had the mini desert with coffee, which I thought was a novel idea. Total Bill £100 and odd pence,was that value for money? You Decide. Service was aok.( Lynda) Nice big outside for those summer days .

Roast quite expensive for what it was. Ours was okay, but others sent theirs back due to overcooked potatoes and vegetables. Apple crumble was a good portion for the "mini" with a hot drink

We visited The Barge for Sunday Lunch. We were able to book on the day as we were happy to book the earliest slot at 12.00. Fully booked for later lunchtime slots. We arrived a little early but were shown to our table straight away and had a drink while we waited for the kitchen to open. Very quiet at the time we arrived, apparently most diners book for 1.00 when it gets very busy. I picked the Roast Turkey and my husband opted for the chicken skewer with sides. Meals were both hot and very tasty. My roast was large with plenty of vegetable accompaniments so I shared my meal with hubby - would probably have been too much for me otherwise, but no complaints! We had Pudding- lemon tart and creme brulee, both delicious 😋 Service was spot on. All staff were friendly and welcoming on arrival. We were served by Allison who was lovely - friendly and funny without being obtrusive, a credit to the establishment. We will definitely return.

TOP NOTCH 5STAR! Working locally, first time in MK. So looking for places to eat in an unknown town can be tough. I found the barge on Google. I've visited TWICE in 1 week due to the food being so good the first time and the 2nd even better! Chef! I take my hat off too you. That signature burger is something else, I've had plenty of burgers but.. wow. Well done! Nailed it! Thank you. Money well spent ***EDIT*** Real shame... SINCE RETURNED FOR WORK SOME 3 MONTHS LATER ...Disappointed, I'm sorry but the portion of chips was embarrassing for £18. Can't fault the flavours though, still tasty. I asked for salt and vinegar and got pepper... Unfortunately won't return again.

Stunning location, beautiful weather and a lovely country pub to sit in with wide open french doors and canopy, light and airy, atmosphere was wonderful. Service was exceptional, Isobel was friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Food was fantastic, there were 6 of us and it all came out hot and delicious. A truly wonderful meal in a lovely venue with 5* service, thank you!

The pub was nicely decorated and had large area for outside seating there was parking also. We had to fetch our own menu they were just serving from the bar the cocktail wasn’t the best and the skewers seemed a little over cooked didn’t come with much salad or chips portions seemed a little light but was quite tasty. Ok to check out if you’re in the area.

First time at the Barge and found it very good. We were able to bring our dog which is great. Excellent friendly table service by Allison. Will definitely be back

A bit of a long wait for food which was fine as it a very nice place with a relaxed atmosphere. Came back to my table after a comfort break to find my dinner on my table, no cutlery, no salt and pepper I had to go and find them myself. Portion size wasn't great but food was nice. Lovely atmosphere in the bar and a friendly welcome.

It was My 1st time here. It was really nice and chilled on a nice hot day. It was busy outside and quieter inside. Service was not table service so I had been waiting at the table for about 10 mins before going to retrieve a menu for myself. The portions of the food for myself coming from London did not resemble the price i personally felt like I get same or similar quality and larger portions in London so pricing for out of London I could not understand the reasoning behind it. The food came promptly and the table was cleared promptly also. The dining area was clean and well looked after. I will come back however if I’m in in the area again

Atrocious food. Was told that 3 of the mains were unavailable, this was at 19:30 on a Saturday night! Starter was baked camenbert but the bread with it was toasted white sliced budget loaf. The mains of fish cakes were dried out, over cooked. Undercooked (microwaved) broccoli and mushy baby potatoes that had clearly been kept warm in the kitchen over a long period. The hollandaise sauce came in a small pot but had a skin on it, it had clearly been left out all day. If that's the standard of a Vintage Inn it won't be getting return custom from me. On the plus side our waitress was efficient.

What a beautiful restaurant and location. Was made to feel incredibly welcome all the staff. Our table server was Alison. She was warm and caring. There was nothing that was too much trouble. The Barge is a welcoming pub / restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. Dog and family friendly with lots of great choices on the menu. We are working in the area for a couple of months and this has become our go to place. We recommend The Barge to many of our guests, who give great feedback too 👍 7th Aug 24 UPDATE: We returned to The Barge Inn today for a Lunch Date and the food was quite simply delicious, restaurant standard, beautifully presented and well priced. We had the Signature Burger and Signature Wild Garlic Lamb Skewer We had a voucher for £10 off (by signing up for newsletter on their website) and would have happily paid the full price 👍 EXCELLENT!

Nice pub with traditional features making it cosy

Sunday evening, after 7.30pm, staff members were extremely welcoming despite it being the end of a very long, busy day. Friendly efficient service and excellent food, highly recommend the Moroccan Spiced chicken skewer with mango and pineapple slaw DELICIOUS,😋😋😍 and the chicken parmigiana was very tender and tasty too 😋😍 We will definitely be returning.

We came for Sunday lunch, after being shown to our table and told that someone would be with us shortly no one arrived so after 15 minutes we realised we could order our drinks via the app along with food - it took a further 20 minutes for our drinks to come, we asked also for some water this took a further 10 minutes to come! after 45 minutes my son went to ask a waitress if she knew when our food would arrive it eventually came out some 50 minutes since we had ordered it - we then had to ask if we could have some cutlery and also condiments and sauces. I had the roast beef and the Yorkshire pudding was missing - I had to wait another 5 minutes for this to be brought to me. It was not very busy and although I thought the location and decor within the Barge was tasteful, I would not come back for food nor would I recommend to any friends due to the very poor service and quality of the food

One of my personal go-to pubs for catch ups. The staff have always been really pleasant. Food most of the time is on point and the atmosphere is lovely.

Portion for starter way too big but nice Couldn’t finish main meal as so full from starter. Would avoid starter In Future now know how large they are, easily be cut by half and still be generous to avoid waste

Alison made us feel very welcome. Our meals were excellent and the pub was very light and airy.

Been here a few times and always leave satisfied. Food is always very nice and service friendly. We popped in on a Saturday evening and we were able to find a seat for 3 people no problem and order burgers at the bar - we didn't sit in the restaurant part this time. The pub itself is a charming local pub to Woolstone. The residents are very lucky to have it. Moodily lit with nice decor, you'll enjoy your visit to the Barge.

We only had drinks there. We've been to the Barge many times and it has undergone a few "makeovers". Also, different management teams and styles. I think that this time, it's working. We intend to return for a meal sometime soon. The place is very comfortable and the decor does it justice, although we do miss the flagstone floor in the "public" bar area....

Great evening at The Barge, lovely food and great service (special thanks to Alison). As a relatively large group, we were sat in a place where we could comfortably laugh and speak without disturbing others, which I really appreciated. Definitely recommend.

The reason is that we had copies of digital ID and passports with us, including on the government website, but the bartender did not deign to even look at them, not to mention his behavior during the meeting, and even aggressively took the glass from the table outside.

Had a fantastic meal today at The Barge. Was greeted by Alison who made our visit very enjoyable. She has excellent customer service skills. The food was amazing and as a party of we all had different meals and everything was delicious. We even fancied other tables dishes so a return visit is a definite. ordered fries got big fat chunky chips, yuk. the fish batter was uncooked on the inside and burned on outside. Can't you Chef's get the correct temperature for the oil ? I'm not sure the fish was cod , didn't look or taste like cod! altogether a waste of money. Won't be using again!!!
