The Barbary in Camden

Esta es bastante buena comida para la ciudad de Londres. La comida es muy buena, especialmente su pollo. Me encantó. Muy buen personal. Muy acogedor lugar.

Deliciosa cena y uno de nuestros favoritos que experimentamos en Londres. Increíble pulpo, hermosos chapuzones, panes, fantástico plato de coliflor. Cada bocado era muy sabroso. Asientos de estilo bar con vistas a donde la mágica preparación de alimentos y la cocina está sucediendo.

I chose the Barbary as the restaurant to celebrate my 30th with my husband. I was really looking forward to this and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We had prosecco as we were celebrating, which was actually a very nice one, and chose plates as recommended by our server. Overall I liked this restaurant but maybe my expectations were too high and I found some of the plates were not very flavourful which was a shame. I would absolutely come back to try again and I loved the vibe, the setting and the idea of the restaurant.

What a high-energy place—it was buzzing on a Friday night. The menu offers lots of variety and tastes. We tried it all: naan, spreads, veggie dishes, seafood, and more. There are so many great flavors. We liked it so much that we decided to try the Barbary Next Door and loved it, too.

A surprising lunch just off a busy tourist strip. Wonderful hospitality, great vibe, outstanding food. A highlight of our three days in London.

I had a very enjoyable lunch at this Mediterranean/North African (think Barbary Coast) restaurant, which served good tapas-style food in a relaxed atmosphere.

We went to try hash cake and to be honest it was pretty much just ok . We also had khafeh which was ok but I thought for the money the potions were small . Staff are very friendly and service was good

Came here for a birthday meal with my dad. Food delicious and the staff including the chefs were very attentive and friendly. Also, not unreasonably priced given the location. Would definitely return and highly recommend!

Nothing special. Octopus was very rubbery and they took it out of our bill. The rest was just ok. Wouldn't go back. Don't understand the hype

My wife and I travelled to London for a wedding and had booked the Barbary for dinner the evening before the wedding. It was marvellous. The food was delicious and exciting. The staff were extremely helpful, well-informed and friendly and the atmosphere was buzzing. We loved sitting at the bar watching the chefs work tirelessly and efficiently to produce incredibly tasty food. All the staff were superb but I'd like to give a special mention to Fabio, who, while fulfilling all the orders required and baking the naan in the tandoor made time to explain our dishes and give us an insight to the restaurant's techniques and philosophy. It was a fantastic evening. The food was perfect.

We came for our anniversary and my wife’s birthday. From start to finish, a fantastic evening. The food is all delicious. Little fried artichokes and cauliflower were both particularly good. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Vanessa, Will and (I’m terrible with names) the guy celebrating the best cauliflower in London. They made it a really special evening. We’ll be back soon!

We had a awesome night yesterday !! The middle eastern food was delicious and the BBQ soooo tasty thanks to unique marinade and meat. The food is great but what makes it a really cool place is the awesome atmosphere thanks to the coolest bartenders.

The cuisine is focused on the Barbary coast, so North African, but with a creative mix of influences from around the Mediterranean. Moroccan Cigars are great starters, and the Hummus and Labneh are perfect with the Jerusalem Bagel. The Chicken Masabacha and the 7 Spice Lamb Rib are great mains but my favourite dish was the Tahini Miso Broccoli. The restaurant seats just 24 at the counter encircling the kitchen and bar, which adds to a lively atmosphere. Service is perfect. It was so good I went back two nights later.

Another superb visit. It seems to get better each time that I visit. We were blown away by the food, atmosphere and energy. A huge thank you to Lubna for being so welcoming and professional- what an asset she is. Thank you for another wonderful evening

If you’re staying in the area I would not miss this fantastic restaurant. Every bite was delicious. I particularly recommend the octopus, naan and dips. The cauliflower was also fantastic. I like that they offer carafes of wine. It’s easier to finish on a date than an entire bottle. My wife and I went here for a date night on a short visit to London. The restaurant is very small so it’ll be though with a larger group.

The food was absolutely incredible. From the spectacular presentation and creativity to the variation of flavours and textures, every dish was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes, which were just perfect. To my surprise there were also several starters, side dishes, and bread provided as extras that I didn't expect as part of the menu.

Do not go here if you’re hungry. Meat was decent but way overpriced. You’ll need to have a second dinner when you leave or spend 300 pounds to get full. Meh.

If you like eating at the chefs table to send your taste buds in to overdrive then you’ll love The Barbary as all if its horseshoe shaped seating area surrounds the kitchen. We supped our lovely house cocktails (Shifkah Palomas) whilst watching the sharing plates be delicately prepared in this intimate yet energised setting. Highlights of our meal would definitely be ‘The Moroccan Cigars’ to go first with each of the dips on the menu highly recommended. Then came the most melt in your mouth pork you are ever likely to eat in the ‘Pata Negra’, but do make sure you save space for desert. The hashcake on any normal day would have our favourite but it was well and truly trumped with the ‘Pistachio Knafeh’. A sweet / savoury desert made with hard and soft mozzarella guaranteed to blow your mind. We did go to town as it was a special occasion so it was a little pricey but we’d happily go back. Next time we would easily be able to make the bill stretch a little further but it was a memorable experience indeed so who’s counting.

A very small unusual restaurant with excellent food and staff. The tables are based around the cooking grills which adds to the ambience. Every dish was perfect

From the very moment we walked in, the service was exceptional. I actually had to check with my friend to see if she knew the hosts, they were that welcoming! The exceptional service continued with our server Orlando, who was simply the best. Made us feel thoroughly special and provided great insight to the menu. Food is exceptional and I look forward to going back to try the dishes I didn’t get too. Overall wonderful service and food.

Visited the place already no. (12:15) and was almost the first. Place is small and crowded , staff is very attentive and helpful. You seat is on a bar, not the best chair. Food was ok- not great Base on small plates Overall cost was relatively high

Enjoyed our evening here. Food is imaginative, service is friendly and well informed. North African/Middle Eastern cuisine. All seats are at bars, you are seated on stools which are not comfortable and very little space; you are literally rubbing shoulders with your neighbours. The food is generally tasty and well prepared. Some of the sauces too strong, almost overwhelming. I would rate the food B+A- The staff who served us from behind the bar were lovely. Knowledgeable, attentive, generous (we did shots before we left). Fardin and Charlotte really looked after us. The bill came: £145.00 for two people. Not wildly expensive but not good value.

It is a little hard to find but once found it should not be forgotten. The food is a mix of everything that you could wish for. The dips and the bread were very tasty and the naan bread was warm and straight out of the oven in front of you. Also don't be afraid to ask if you don't know what something is as the staff are great at helping and guiding you what goes with which other dish. Our favourite was the Pata Negra which was so soft and tasty. But don't forget the specials if they are there The other bit hat made it great on a cold Sunday was the music which was just perfect for a Sunday lunch in a relaxing environment, especially as we were a walk in.

This was one of the best food that we eat in London. We try almost everything from the menu and enjoy it. Great concept and great service 😉

I came to this restaurant because I went to the Palomar that is its sister restaurant. While the food is god the environment is of a fast food bar …. The staff are unpolite and rush you all the time , the sits are uncomfortable ( still not a chair and there is no table), the chef is shouting all the time …. The place is crowded…. I will never be back…. It really does not match its sister restaurant Palomar. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

Well what can I say, I already had good vibes about this place and reviews from friends who had been. So I had high hopes. But Barbary I know this sounds dramatic! But your food makes my soul sing! Flavour flavour off the charts. My partner and I loved it, our waitress, shout out to Mae-zing she was our server, she was fabulous talked us through the menu, I also like to ask staff what they love on the menu as they are living and breathing it , they know what’s good, Mae -zing guided us told us what she liked and it just added to the whole experience. None of the dishes disappointed. Legend you smashed it! The set up of all people around one horse show around the kitchen, great idea you feel connected to the kitchen and staff and just adds to the whole dinning experience, I love to cook myself to seeing in to what they are doing really added it for me. Anyway I’m rambling all I will say is go, you won’t be disappointed fab food, fab atmosphere and amazing staff shout too our main girl Mae-zing and the Yorkshire bloke who picked me the best desert of my life. Tasty food, fun vibe, excellent service (our waiter Alex was great). Perfect for a romantic birthday celebration. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely fantastic food, cannot fault anything on the menu. Will definitely be going back next time we are in London.

We enjoyed our food and it's an interesting experience watching the food cooked a the centre of a horseshoe bar. We particularly liked the Moroccan cigar, the potatoes, lamb and baclava. However, the bar stools are hard with limited leg room, otherwise I would have scored it a 5.

Having made a reservation several days before we visited Barbary for dinner. It’s small and cosy with most diners circled round a communal table looking onto the chefs and the grill. The service was great with a willingness to suggest courses etc. we really loved the food and the whole experience of the place. The cauliflower was our outstanding dish. Wine measures are small and expensive but maybe that’s just London. I would definitely dine again on our next visit to London.

We stumbled on this small restaurant by chance and got the last two spaces. Little did we know what was awaiting for us. Supremely impressed by the food, the service and the atmosphere. The flat bread was deliciously crisp and fresh, the smoked aubergine was divine, but the piece de la resistance was the salmon and lamb, which were both outstanding. The music adds to a welcoming and friendly ambiance, for what was a fantastic and unexpected surprise. We will be back.

Let’s get one thing right, the food here is delicious. Our dining experience was not. The servers were so rushed they blasted through the menu items so quickly that only one who had been here a few times would understand. It didn’t help that the menus only had the country specific names of the dishes without any explanation of what they were. We asked three times before we were clear on the offerings. The wine list was less than impressive, which was a shock for a restaurant of this caliber. Again, the local names of the labels were used without an explanation of the varietal. We also ate with our coats on as the place was pretty cool. Our server never checked in with us until our last course. The single door opened straight to the 0 degree weather outside and breezed through the eatery every time a guest arrived or departed. With some tweaks this restaurant could live up to its Michelin one star rating, Unfortunately, our experience here was the worst of our 6 days in London.

Always an amazing night at the Barbary. Such special food and wonderful staff. We had the most amazing dinner and I’m already thinking about my next visit!

One of our favourite restaurants. Start with the Jerusalem bagels paired with the Za'aluk, hummus and the Ikra or the baba ganoush. For the mains Pata Negra (pork neck) is exquisite and the salmon is very good (Asian flavouring) and the cauliflower is also full of flavour

What a find for lunch in London. You sit up at a bar surrounding the kitchen and can watch the chefs busy making your dishes . Amazing bread , cauliflower and octopus dish. But really every dish we ate was so tasty. Very busy place so book before you go. I loved it so think it will be a favourite for me.
