The Bank Of Silloth in Allerdale

A confession - when we booked a couple of days playing golf in Silloth the lack of an Indian restaurant within walking distance of the hotel was a concern (what can I say, we're traditionalists). We needn't have worried - turns out after a fantastic day's golf a bottle of red, a delicious lamb thing (best lamb dish ever - it came with bread and cheese!) then home made churros is exactly what your body needs. The family who run the place are a delight and the venue is just class. If you happen to be in the area book a table (then pop round the corner to Sugar for a nightcap)

Beautiful, varied food and friendly, helpful service. We ordered 2 tapas each as well as some nibbles to share which was perfect. A lovely evening in relaxed, comfortable surroundings with a very reasonable bill at the end!

Once in a while whilst traveling you discover something really really special and what Lucia and her fabulous team have created at The Bank is indeed exceptional and rare oasis of gastronomy in a little Cumbrian coastal town !

Me and my partner have visited a number of times over the past couple of years but just getting around to writing a review now!.we either go as a couple or with family and friends. Every visit has not disappointed. The service is always warm and we are made to feel welcome from walking through the door. The menu has lots of options and is always something new to try on the specials board. (Great choice for a gluten intolerant friend!) We are so lucky to have this restaurant right on our doorstep and it is a true treat to visit!

Our first visit to The Bank and boyyys, it didn’t disappoint, what a gem we have on our doorstep…….the food was just amazing, the atmosphere and the lovely hosts 💙….I have to admit, the tapas menu was way beyond us as we are just country bumpkins who havnt really tried tapas but we admitted this and asked for advice and Simon was a godsend….he was just so helpful as to how much we should order and he was spot on 👌🏻…we were all so full but there was no leftovers 😂😂, we stuffed it in because it was sooo good, the menu there is honestly prepared with so much passion, beautifully prepared fresh produce….I can’t wait to go back and take my gorgeous sisters for a special night out 💙

The Bank of Silloth always has outstanding interest and always delivers the best service and most exquisite Spanish Tapas, Tried the Sea Bass and it was magnifique!

2nd visit and as great as the first. The crispy Pork is a must! The Russian Salad is so different as it’s warmed through, giving a totally different sensation. The atmosphere is just perfect with little or no gimmicks, just gentle surroundings.

Like the best outfit this place can be dressed up or down for casual dining or a wedding! We went there as a family for our pre Christmas dinner. The food was mouthwatering as usual. I'm still thinking about the crispy belly pork tacos 5 days later! The bell peppers with beans are a great pairing. We liked the malbec too. Lucy is so good with her flavours it's refreshing to find a chef that really looks to make the individual dishes perfect. We will be back again soon. As a local I’ve visited here often and never had a bad experience! Food is delicious, hot and fresh and plentiful for the reasonable prices! Staff are attentive and service is quick and on many occasions after eating we’ve sat drinking and chatting until we’re the last ones in the building and they’re ready to close and it’s never been a bother for them!

A taste of Spain, recreated using local Cumbrian Produce! This is a lovely family run restaurant, the atmosphere is warm & cosy - and chef always makes the effort to come out and see us! We always ask "do you think we've ordered enough" and we are given honest advice, rather than trying to pressure us into ordering more than we need (we usually always add an extra dish because our eyes are bigger than our bellies)! Looking forward to my next visit & rediscovering that beautiful, crisp Rose Blush I missed on our last few visits due to being pregnant!

We visit The Bank on a regular basis. Their food is absolutely amazing myself and my husband always use it as a little date night when we can. Not only are we regular customers but we love the food so much we asked if they would cater to our wedding back in April. Lucy and everyone went above and beyond to make our wedding day perfect.. not only did they make us a personal menu of our favorite bits they also decorated out the entire resteraunt for us.. Every guest was amazed by the food and there was so much we just couldn't finish it all. The food impressed our guests so much it's still a talking point now about how good it was! We Absolutely Love this place and the staff nothing is ever to much for them and they go above any beyond all expectations all of the time. ❤️

Great food, would definitely go again

Worthy of much more than 5 stars. It’s was our second visit to the Bank, we loved it last time and it was even better then I remembered. The whole place is amazing, staff are all really lovely and just the right level of attention but it is the food that sets the Bank apart from other restaurants. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING is delicious, we had a range of tapas dishes and a seafood paella between our group. All the dishes are packed with layers of flavour, perfectly cooked and really well presented. The tomato, confit onion, sherry and chimichurri sauce that accompanies the feta cheese is so good I would fill a swimming pool with it and dive right in if I could!!!!! Amazing. I only have one regret that it’s been so long since our last visit. I cannot rate the food, ambiance and staff here highly enough. Thank you for the lovely food and atmosphere I hope it’s not as long before our next visit.

Wish we had found this place sooner .. absolutely delicious food. Came for a family meal and we all tried different dishes. The service was brilliant and had a fantastic variety of beautifully cooked Tapas. The flavours are amazing, we tried the Meatballs ,steak ,seafood chowder ,belly pork , camembert, pizza, prawns, chicken and patats bravas...every dish was superb. This will be our treat now everytime we visit the area and can't wait to come back!

A decent tapas place for English tastes. Not 100% authentic but decent nonetheless. Reservations was via Facebook not email though which I found strange.

Have been trying to book in to The Bank for a few month with no luck which is statement to how good this place actually is. This was the first time we visited and will definitely not be the last. The food is outstanding! Great flavours all fresh using the best ingredients. Staff were really helpful, pleasant and friendly. The Chef popped out to introduce herself and ask of everything was ok. Lucy (chef) and Simon (front of house) have created their own patch of Mediterranean sunshine...even on the wettest of summer Silloth days. The Bank serves a delicious variety of tapas, paellas and authentic Spanish dishes and the best churros outside of Spain!! Lucy is passionate about using fresh, high quality produce and the food that comes out of her kitchen is testament to her talent. Tempting cocktails, beers and wine compliment the food. Do not miss this jewel of a restaurant.

I've never left a review for anything but felt the bank definitely deserved one. We had a good selection of starters and mains and shared with each other , so glad we did because we got to taste many dish's. Without a doubt for me it was the nicest meal I've ever had, I savoured each mouthful throughout, so many tastes and flavours, the different layers of seasoning , spices etc was really prominent. Please go try it for yourselves Owners/ staff very friendly and chatty without being in your face The cost really didn't matter.

Quite simply one of the best meals out ive had in years. A hidden treasure, every dish was exquisit. The feta was delicious and the steak was perfection. Food amazing compliments the chef! Front of house could do with abit of training, girl with the brown hair n glasses looked like she'd struggle doing the alphabet.
