The Balloch House in West Dunbartonshire

We went in for lunch today and was warmly welcomed by the excellent staff. We sat at a table of our choice and was quickly given the menus. We had a beef brisket on toasted bloomer served with gravy and a choice of chips or salad,I opted for salad which was great. My wife had a fish goujon toasty which she had chips with it. We both had mini puds and coffee to finish with. All in all a great experience which we will repeat soon.

Went to 5 places tonight. All very welcoming bar this one. From standing within 5 metres of 3 bar staff for 6 minutes, we had a chance to observe the atmosphere which seemed quite relaxed. Told ‘we’ll be with you’ too many times so ended up leaving.

Booked last minute, amazing food and service.

I was there kinda two years ago with my family. Foods were delicious, service was fast – even in busy time of the day – and everyone was really kind. They have a good selection of beers and whisky. Manager even gave us a glass with Doom Bar logo for free after I had told him that my brother was a Cormoran Strike fan. I would absolutely go back.

Amir made the best log fires in this super cosy pub! We visited after a 20,000 step count walk of Balloch castle and the whinny hill woods. Lovely way to end a very fulfilling hike. Thanks to Alex, Amit and all the team at the Balloch House.

I love Balloch House normally but when I visited yesterday it wasn't up to the usual par. I had to go looking for staff at one point and it was quite cold inside. The radiators weren't on. My friends and myself felt chilled by the time we left. I did speak to one of the waitresses nearer the end. She just shrugged and said "it is a bit cold" no explanation given at all. This will certainly put me off going back to what used to be a lovely cosy pub that's not COSY!! 🥶

Nice location, we were served by Emir on both nights we stayed in the hotel and he was brilliant. So knowledgeable and attentive, really is an asset to the team. The hotel room was very comfortable and had everything you need for a weekend stay. Will definitely be back ☺️

Lovely early evening dinner for four of us and food was great. Had some lovely Prosecco and started feeling a bit festive 🥰🎄 Jeff and Diane were there and it’s busy but very organised. Our waitress was very attentive and nothing was a bother.

In with friend went got the lasagne not the best . Hardly any meat looked more than cheap frozen one . Wasn't home made .

Visited this pub during a recent visit to Balloch. Was totally ignored whilst waiting at the bar by 2 members of staff. We left and went to another establishment. Absolutely awful.

The restaurant is very nice and cozy. The excellent and very helpful service, they make you feel at home. They take great care of you and the attention is unbeatable. The food is very good. The dishes are very generous and of quality products.

A beautiful pub, in a beautiful location adjacent to the loch. The staff are amazing and go out of their way to look after you. Atmosphere is relaxed and warm. The food is lovely , especially the arancini .

Food not as good as visit last year. Roast potatoes not proper roast, beef and pork on Trio meats dinner average. Two measly hard carrots and parsnips, cauliflower cheese was great. Service was very good👍

Have visited here many times and had a couple of birthday meals in the restaurant. Each time the staff have always gone above and beyond to accommodate. A cosy atmosphere and welcoming if you want to get out the cold for a quick coffee too

Cozy to say crowded. EXTREMELY slow service. Stuck with bad fish n chips after not getting the lamb or then the salad I ordered.

Popped in for a few small dishes to share with my son. The food was good and a nice portion size. As always the staff were full of smiles and friendly too. Would recommend to anyone local or visiting the area

We called ahead to ensure they allowed dogs on site as we had planned for a short walk around Balloch Park. We were greated straight away and given a range of seating set ups to chose from. I love a high back and arm chair. We were a little bit early for lunch so grabbed a pot of tea. For lunch we had a Fish Finger Sandwich on ciabatta bread and a vegetable wrap. Both came with chips and a side salad. The wrap was different with butternut squash, quinoa and a beetroot infused wrap. Lunch cost around £30 for two. Staff were very friendly and attentive would recommend a visit. To locals and visitors to the area.

We love it there. One of our favourite places for lunch. The food is always amazing and the service is always great. The building itself is incredible - so beautiful and rustic.

The food was great, the service was splendid and it was such a cute, warm dining area. They were quick to receive us, kind and welcoming. The chef thought the scotch egg they gave us was overcooked so we were surprised to receive another one at no cost. All the food was delicious, well presented and a good size. Would certainly recommend.

Instantly felt welcomed here. Greeted by a very friendly host, who explained the menu and were seated in their lovely warm and cosy dinning area. Service was great, food was top notch, and if I lived closer I'd be back regularly. Was a lovely afternoon!

We stopped in after a boat cruise on Loch Lomond. We had the specials (appetizers and yummy soup of the day). The appetizers were scallops and shrimp in a cream sauce and a sausage roll with some kind of berry sauce. The soup was a creamy tomato with roasted peppers. All wonderful food and cocktails in a relaxed pub. Service was lovely, too!

We stopped here for some lunch. We didn't have a reservation but were seated straight away. The place has a cosy bar vibe but is also lovely for food. The menu had some lovely variations on the standard items eg. duck hoisin pizza! The food was delicious, not too expensive and the service was super friendly. I would definitely go here again.

We had a really bad experience. I’m unsure if the place was understaffed or not but the atmosphere from them was very stressed and overwhelmed. I first went to get some drinks before dinner to sit outside. I was ignored and the female behind the bar went onto serve someone else. I was the only other person stood there. For dinner, we went along for our booking time. I had notified in my booking I was coming with an autistic child, who was wearing his sunflower lanyard to identify this also. The staff again gave the impression we were an inconvenience. We were sat in a slightly quieter area which was good for my son. Some other customers came in after us and one table seemed to know the staff member and received a completely different greeting and service than we did. I placed my order of fish and chips for myself and nuggets for my son at around 4.15pm. Almost 45 minutes passed and we still hadn’t had our food brought out to us, yet the tables that came in after us did. I asked politely where our food could be as we had been waiting a long time - to the point that my autistic son was becoming very distressed and unsettled and my stress levels were through the roof. The staff remember went to the kitchen and almost immediately came back with our food which was strange, like it had just been sitting there. My son received 5 chicken nuggets on a plate and I had an overcooked battered fish that was burned in areas. We were both so hungry that I wasn’t in a position to protest anymore I just needed him to eat something so I could move us on. After finishing I tried to make eye contact with one of the staff to get the bill but was ignored again so I approached the bar to pay. It was a really bad experience and to pay 30 odd quid for 2 soft drinks and a couple of bad plates was disheartening.

Long wait and miserable staff. Normally it is good We were very disappointed this visit as we had to wait half an hour before we were allowed to order and our food came 75 mins after we arrived. There had been a large table of 25 who were late apparently although the rest of the restaurant wasn’t fully booked. The staff weren’t apologetic and didn’t offer us anything in the meantime, despite having three small hungry children with us. Two of the waitresses were downright miserable, the other was quite nice and did apologise but not profusely. We love going to Balloch House after a walk but we will have to think carefully about next time as we don’t want the same to happen. There’s a good chippy in Balloch which we will probably go to next time.

We've been traveling Scotland for three weeks with superb service and amazing food throughout... Until tonight. We chose Balloch House based on the ratings but were sorely disappointed by the lack of reception, the lackadaisical service, and the less than mediocre food. This place was an absolute bust all the way around.

Had a lovey afternoon in Balloch House Hotel, for a friend's retirement lunch. Would like to thank chef Danielle for fabulous meal. Also Anne Marie for organising it all. Would definitely recommend to friends & family. Will definitely be back 👌

Went for the Sunday Roast Trio and was beyond amazing. Huge portion sizes, all amazing quality. Very attentive staff and our server Amuir was absolutely brillaint. Will be back again, an absolute must!

Went while visiting the area, service was good, but there was some Easter European guy who seemed to get under everyone's business and was a bit too much. The food was fantastic, having the roast, but as is always the case with Vintage Inns, the roaster are dry and tasteless. Apologies for those who love them, but they taste frozen or reheated. Not a fan, but the rest was delicious.

In France I would have said not great but for a restaurant in Scotland it was good. The lamb was unfortunately overcooked but the accompaniment was good. The salad would have been perfect if it had been seasoned.

Absolutely fantastic! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting. The service was impeccable - attentive without being intrusive. And the food? Out of this world! Every dish was a masterpiece, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. Can't wait to go back!

We had family from the USA and England so booked a table for 12 of us at Balloch House. From the moment we arrived the staff were attentive and friendly and showed us to our private dining space. Chloe looked after us superbly and was informative about the menu and drinks. We had a superb time with great food and service.

Lovely place, service was ok however make server was loud and interfered with his colleagues. Food was tasty only minor issue was it wasn't very hot. Nice location too.

Just been tonight, as we do once a year( or on every visit)the food , waitress and atmosphere were excellent! Steak cooked perfectly! Can’t fault anything! The owner, or manager is polite, friendly and charismatic. We enjoyed our evening very much . Thankyou

Very poor customer service. A loud and obnoxious server ruined our experience. He needs to stop trying to be a comedian and do his job, professionally and more quietly. The toilets adjacent to the restaurant were also disgusting.

Would not serve food outside and then would not allow dogs in area of pub where we were seated. Very small sign on bar stating ‘please wait to be seated’. Don’t bother. Hospitality = zero.

Food was great. Check out pie of the day, fish&chips, fish cakes and crumble for dessert. Limited selection of ciders.

Good is excellent as well as the service. Have been coming here for many years and it is always an enjoyable experience. I ordered an espresso martini which is not on the menus however they made one specially for my request.

If you're going to Balloch, I would always recommend going to Balloch House. Darren was an attentive and friendly waiter. The whole venue is inviting and friendly. The food was delicious and having a vegetarian option for Sunday roast meant my partner and I could have one.

Worst coffee I’ve ever had. Toilets also don’t lock

Wonderful. Toilets were upstairs and became a talking point as there were so many doors leading to both sets of toilets and rooms so it looked like a maze.

Luke warm everything, overcooked fish. Really loud and just generally mediocre. Nice beams and building but that's about it.

Refused to service us as they said it was a bank holiday, despite their being tables available to book online at the time of us walking in. A real disappointment

Food was amazing 👏 Every meal I seen come outof the kitchen looked awesome. They let us stay in the carpark with the motorhome too. Staff were very good couldn't fault them at all. Will be back at xas thanks alot scott sam and olly x

If you happen to be visiting Loch Lomond, I highly recommend dining at this establishment. You will undoubtedly be impressed by the overall experience. During peak hours, it is understandable that there may be a slight delay in receiving your food, but I assure you that the wait is well worth it. The culinary creations are simply delectable.

A bit untidy outside, uncleared tables and could maybe make sure all tables have salt and pepper rather than diners sharing. Ordering app saying lots of things unavailable and its very counterintuitive. The food had that "frozen" not fresh taste and feeling. Very expensive for such small portions.

Not happy at all. Staff helpful ok. Food - not to bad but next to nothing salad with it. Most annoying because they have SERVICE CHARGE of 10% witch will be charged regardless you like service or not. I think that's not acceptable. As you charge fairly high price for food then service charge. So what's next year? Rent forks with a pints? Also stinks a vee inside So no would not recommend

Booked for partners meal Sunday 18th at 3:30. Honestly very disappointed in the over all experience. Was seated with no issue, gave and setting good what we especially having visited the one in Helensburgh previously however from there is when it went down hill. Starters came - one sticky chicken which were 3 in number and lucky to be the size of a chicken nugget along with a prawn cocktail that consisted for eight catering sized prawns half a head of Roman lettuce and bashed avocado. In between waiting for our main when requested a drink the server asked I refused but my partner requested a pint which was ignored and had to reorder after waiting over ten minutes for our table to be cleared. It took around 35 minutes for them to realise that we were still waiting on our main meals. At 40/45 minutes it arrived after a garbled apology of a kitchen delay for it to arrive cold and with over cooked meat. Brought it to the servers attention which was acknowledged right away and we were offered a replacement or something else. We refused as due to the wait and bad experience we couldn’t justify it especially sitting any longer. Server removed the meals and took under £10 off the bill for the trouble management did apologise however I found the whole over all experience lacking and poor. Mistakes happen but it depends on how it is dealt with.
