Very friendly service and lovely food this evening

We came on the recommendation of our guest house, a lovely place. We enjoyed our food and the setting, but the service was very (too) slow...

I had baroque chicken with chips and little salad. Lovely

The ambience perfectly fits a visit to Balloch/Loch Lomond. All the dishes we ordered were on point making it overall a great meal in Scotland, special shout out to the sticky toffee pudding that couldn't have been more perfect!

Very kind - good dishes and excellent wine - very beautiful and characteristic place !! If I had gone alone and can eat everything I would have left very satisfied - but I had problems with the GLUTEN FREE I can't give 5 stars because I chose it specifically for my celiac daughter (it was indicated by trip advisor as suitable for celiacs!) and no - 👎👎it is absolutely not a place where a celiac feels like a customer like everyone else - my daughter could only have a dish of potatoes and rice and a cake (of the whole menu only one dish and a dessert is very sad, also because in the Scirsi days we were amazed by how many restaurants offer gluten free and great attention to the celiac customer who certainly cannot be confined to vegan and vegetarian which I respect but it is a personal choice their way of eating, my daughter is not to blame !! She did not choose not to eat gluten Thank you

Good selection of food across their menu. Calamari starter was lovely. Buttermilk chicken burger was nicely seasoned with good ratio of condiments. Warm, friendly waiting staff. Would recommend highly for a casual dinner :)

I would like to give this place more stars but can't, we stayed here 4 nights. It's a pub with rooms in my opinion, not really a hotel, the rooms are fine, comfy bed, good facilities, no problems here. If you struggle with stairs this place has plenty and curved to access the rooms, pub is ok no stairs there. Came down for breakfast first morning, sorry sir we have no eggs!!!!!!! Also we have no baked beans. So looking at the menu it's mainly eggs, Google it. Also we are in Scotland no Scottish breakfast available, no black pudding, haggis or potatoe scones, just an English breakfast, which requires an egg! The coop is a five minute walk up the road for Christ sake, go buy a tray! So had a bacon sandwich, served on brown dry toast. Day two and three breakfast ok, day four no muffins for the eggs benedict etc. Kitchen manager sort out the ordering! We had one evening meal here, it's pub food nothing wrong with that. Now the good bits. The pub is located in an excellent position to take a loch cruise with Swinney's, it's adjacent to the massive park for walkers with access to the castle and the walled garden. The pub has a big car park and a large decked area outside where food and beverages are served, parasols at every table, really well done. The "shore shopping area" is a pleasant 15 minute walk away, so you can see how well placed this establishment is. So as I say it's really only marked down by the poor breakfast offering, apparently looking at the reviews the lack of something at breakfast is common, but should not be tolerated.

Not recommended: The two dishes I had chosen were unavailable. We ordered a 2-course and a 3-course menu—each with a starter, a main course, and a dessert. My husband ordered Camembert as a starter, which was for two people. That was fine and was included in the menu. Because of this, I had to pay extra for dessert, which was included in the 3-course menu. This defies all logic!

We popped in for lunch on our way home from a holiday in Scotland and both ordered fish and chips. The fish on both meals was well over cooked, hard to cut and very chewy. We returned both meals and replaced them with different meals which were OK but not as good as we'd hoped. The staff were very good about it and served us with a smile. Maybe the kitchen was just having an off day.

Nice place to eat or have a drink, wasn’t overly impressed with my main course I think it had been under the heater too long and the garnish was all dried up and the chicken was a bit dry but overall it would not put me off eating here again.

We had a really good experience at The Balloch House. We spent 3 nights in the car park with our motorhome. We went for drinks in the pub on all 3 nights and dinner on the last night. Couldn't have asked for more. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The Guinness was top notch as was the nicely chilled Savignon Blanc. Dinner was lovely too. Special thanks to Megan who was especially lovely.

The food was very nice (we had the pie special), and the service was great! The waiter made sure everyone was having a good time. Very nice atmosphere overall!

A nice friendly pub with good indoor and outdoor seating. Ordered a pint of Guinness, was perfect.

Drove an hour to dine here, we arrived at 8:37 and were denied service? They close at 11pm. They claimed the kitchen was closed quite abruptly, very rude. I’d triple check your reservation before travelling here let alone the awful effort and reception you’ll receive on arrival. 1* would be too kind

Absolutely amazing place. Great food and lovely staff who looked after you the whole time we were there. Would definitely recommend. Also dog friendly which is a bonus.

We stayed at this hotel, but unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the price. The hotel is small and older, which wouldn’t be a problem if the room was clean. There were stains on the carpet and chair – not sure if from food or something else. The room had a lot of bugs, spider webs in the corners, and even spiders. The window sills were like a graveyard for flies. The bathroom radiator hadn’t been dusted in a long time. We didn’t feel comfortable in the room at all and would not recommend this place

Our food was not up to a standard I would expect. The camembert arrived partially cooked, the bread I was given with another meal was stale - I could hit it off the side of the table it was so bad. Staff were welcoming and friendly, but the food was awful.

The value for money was very good! The waitress was attentive and the service very fast. Very good lunch!

A place with a pleasant warm atmosphere, classic interior and incredible food, one of the best places I've been to. We had the Slow-Cooked Pork Belly, Falafel and Chicken Liver, Apple & Cider Brandy Pâte and a couple of glasses of Guinness, it was absolutely delicious! Thanks to this establishment, our evening after the hike became even better, and the staff made us happy with a smile and good mood) I highly recommend visiting, you won’t regret it 👌

Came in for a big family meal the night before my wedding, staff were spot on. Sadly my memory is awful and I can't remember the name of the staff but it was on the 25th of April and they were friendly and had really looked after me and my family.

£12.60 for 2 tiny plates of Ice Cream. With nothing on the blobs of tasteless ice cream. Ridiculously expensive.

Had a lovely evening at Balloch - lamb shank and lasagne, house red and tiramisu for pudding. Delicious, excellent vfm. All made even better by the fabulous service from Rebecca - a great waitress who took the time to answer our questions and have a short chat, making our experience much more personal 😍. We stayed in our van in the hotel carpark - looking forward to a return visit.

We had the ribeye steak and fish & chips — both were absolutely amazing! The steak was cooked perfectly, juicy and full of flavor, and the fish was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and clearly fresh. Great portion sizes and everything came out hot. Easily one of the best meals we’ve had on our trip to Scotland

Megan was knowledgeable about the menu and very nice.

What a lovely place this is. The food was good and the staff were attentive without being too "in your face." There is an outside eating area which looks out on to the river and a small riverside marina. The restaurant is dog friendly without looking like a zoo. Car parking is up the left hand side between the river and the building and was a good size. The car park leads on to Balloch castle and country park so the restaurant sees a lot of walkers as well. Overall this place is excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone who is in the area who fancies a light bite or something a little more substantial.

Nice food , great ambiance. Very friendly staff, but bit underpowered. Some things were forgotten, starter plates were still on the table when mains were served. Probably because the good weather with additional tables outside. We would recommend to go!

Some dishes are lovely albeit some absolutely terrible. Stay away from the steak. Soup was marvelous and the pie terrific.

Hands down the worst Rib Eye steak I’ve ever eaten. If the waitress bothered to come and ask how my food was I would have been able to tell her!

We had a wonderful dining experience at The Balloch House! We ordered the ribeye steak, salmon fishcake, katsu chicken rice bowl, and the signature burger—everything was absolutely delicious. Each dish was cooked to perfection, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. The ambience was warm and welcoming, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. The service was excellent too—friendly, attentive, and efficient. If you’re in the area and looking for great food in a lovely setting, The Balloch House is definitely worth a visit. Darrell was fantastic, so good I stopped by twice in one day! Super friendly and accommodating and didn’t stop running around the place helping everyone else too. A credit to the business.

We booked as a group of 14 to celebrate our parents 50th wedding anniversary, and found it very enjoyable. Even though it was busy, and we were a large group, the staff were all very friendly and helpful, and were really attentive. Some of us are fussy eaters and they accommodated any requests we had, and brought our food out as quickly as they could. Communication was excellent, the food was absolutely lovely, and enjoyed by everyone. There was an incident where someone bumped into a waiter carrying one of our desserts, which was then dropped, and the waiter was very apologetic, even though it was in no way his fault. He took full responsibility for a situation not caused by him at all, and the dessert was quickly replaced. All in all a very enjoyable experience, lovely food and we definitely plan to return again soon! Thanks to all the staff for their great customer service!

Visited with family yesterday food was lovely we had Red wine infused Lasagne delicious the other member of the family had fish and chips they all enjoyed it very much fish was delicious. We has a few drinks and my brother had a Tennents Lager which he said was one if the best pints he has had for a few years he said it was all down to cleaning the pipes Will definitely return the staff we're all very friendly.

Stopped in for a cosy dinner whilst on a visit to Loch Lomond. Can't fault it! Food was great, plenty of drinks to choose from and service (by Emir) was attentive and friendly. Dog friendly too 🐶 Surprisingly mild temperatures for Scotland in March but noticed there was a fireplace which would be lovely in the depths of winter!

Beautiful old pub with great service, the fish and chips were 10/10 & the Guiness was solid too.

Group of seven celebrating a birthday surprised and let down by slow service, poorly prepared dishes and no explanation when we asked though did receive an apology. Arriving at six and giving our order roughly around 6.20 we did not receive our mains till a minute to 8 and only three of us had a starter which took a long time to come and even longer to be cleared. One of our party asked a member of staff who said they were just bar staff regarding the wait after the table of about 8 next to us who arrived at the same time got up and paid for their drinks and starters and left without accepting their mains. They said this had not happened here before so local or regular diners but obviously felt aggrieved enough to leave. I wished we hadn't asked about the waiting time as the food then shortly arrived and several of our group were not overly happy about the quality of our dishes with two of us having the same thing could see both prepared visibly differently and I think the amount of tomatoes still on the stem with my steak and chips gave a lazy student feel as the least offensive way of describing it. We all felt the game was lost to be trying to send anything back and were resigned to finishing and going. The bill was wrong and we felt pressured after the new one was presented as the lady from earlier who presented herself as bar staff was now seeking payment and ordering a young waiter to clear things from tables was hovering over my sister who was just trying to look over the corrected bill. They had two menus running with a set menu with 3 courses for a set price but we didn't get to take advantage of this as we asked for the bill around 8.30 with our dishes still on the table were not wanting to stay for a possibly another hour. Whilst my sister queried the bill I went to the toilets but could only use the one working cubicle due to flooding along the floor of the urinals. Our young waiter was very polite and left to apologise for our poor experience. Would have been less likely to review if some ownership and explanation was taken on the night from management as they had every opportunity.

Popped in for a nice breakfast with our dog. The food was very good, and the staff were friendly. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy. Price was very reasonable too.

After 6 years I returned to Balloch House, which my best friend and I had fallen in love with at the time. Huge surprise when the waiter came to bring an envelope to the table with my name on it.. A huge thank you to Balloch House for playing along and making this moment possible which I will remember for a very long time 🙏

Great Food, good Service! We ate there twice!

Great service and staff were really friendly. It's not always easy finding somewhere that welcomes kids and dogs in the same area but the staff couldn't do enough for us to make us welcome. Food was top notch too, very generous portions. Will return without hesitation when we are next in Balloch.

Great restaurant with very cozy decor. We tasted refined and tasty dishes, the opposite of what can be said about English cuisine, a charming welcome. I highly recommend it.

In for food today (Sunday) have to ask for menus after 10 mins another 20 to take our order (others arrived at the same time have been served and finished eating) 40 minutes waiting on food Not a good experience

We stopped by to have some lunch after spending the morning around loch lomond at around 4,30 pm and got told by the lady in the entrance (seemed to be a manager or supervisor) that they were full, so we left. Once outside, we just checked in their website to see if they have any availability for later as she never said, and there was tables available from 5 pm, just 30 mins after we went, so we booked a table. When we came back, the same woman looked at us kind of confused but we told her we had a booking so she just took us to the middle of the dining room and pointed at a table at the very end and said that’s your table and left. When she brought us the drinks, she left the tray with the drinks on the corner of our table and left. The rest of the service was done by a very nice young lady that treated us fantastically. We ordered a couple of starters and 4 main (4 beef lasagne). We were served the starters around 15-20 mins after ordering and when we finished them, the same woman from the beginning came to tell us they only have 1 lasagna left so we had to order something else (I am sure this is something they could have let us know a bit earlier, but alright), so we had to wait another 20 mins to have the main. A bit of a disappointment considering how beautiful is the place and the food was delicious.

I have gone to this restaurant with my family and the treatment from the lady who served us at the door has not been very pleasant. When we arrived, they told us that they were not available, in a rather unkind way, considering that it must be a supervisor or boss because she was not wearing a uniform or apron like the rest of the workers, so we left.

Nice atmosphere, friendly service, a bit on the slow side but we were in no hurry. Food was competent standard pub fare, none the worse for that.

Never actually had anything to eat or drink as the manageress was so rude and unwelcoming we just left. The Tullie Inn across the bridge was superb though !

Came in for a drink and possibly food. Found a nice table for two in the bar. Was rudely turfed out by a lady I’m assuming was the Manager telling me it was reserved. If you are going to reserve tables then mark them reserved. She was extremely rude to myself and my husband who was waiting at the bar. If it’s table service only, appropriate signage or staff at the door is the usual practice

My friend and I visited 3 times in 3 days which already says a lot I think. The atmosphere and service was great and although there aren't loads of vegan options, the vegan butternut and chickpea burger I had was delicious. One of the best vegan burgers I've had. The location I great too and very important for me - it's very dog friendly 🐾 will definitely be back

The lady at the door was rude and gave us a bad look as soon as we walked in . Telling us we can't have a drink even though we could clearly see tables available next door. . Felt very unwelcoming . No smile no sorry no thank you . Such a shame

Came to Bolloch house for a nights stay and some food. The menu is great and the food was too. I’d come here again. The staff make the experience really nice. Great at the bar, excellent table service - lad called Jamie was nice and the man with a foreign accent he’s a right laugh
