I received my order of gluten free loaves today and have so far tried the quinoa/millet one. It's really delicious. I'm not gluten intolerant, but because I eat a WFPB diet, I wanted to find a loaf that had clean ingredients and that contained no oil. I'm so glad that I stumbled across The Bakery by Fork & Knife online. I will definitely be buying more!

Being a nutritional therapist what goes into my food and consequently into my body is very important. I have just tried the quinoa and millet loaf and absolutely loved it. No, it's not the texture of a slice of Warburton's but have you seen what's in that! This bread is clean, wholesome and tasty. I will definitely be buying it again in future and recommending it to my clients 🙂

I have supported this business since it has started. Over the years, this business has grown and expanded its operations to some stores and restaurants. Most unfortunately the quality supplied to individual customers has been erratic and has deteriorated to an unacceptable level. On two occasions they sent me stale old bread fit for the bin so when I contacted them with the next order, the owner Tanya, as always, is defensive and blames the rest of the world. She blamed DPD and then me for not telling her immediately. Today the bread received was not baked the previous day, as they claim. The quality is so poor that the "cardboard bread" “falling apart” quality often used by Tanya about her competitors was representative of her own bread. The bread was brittle, stale, and actually falling apart as I was slicing it. I contacted Tanya immediately to see if she wants me to send the bread back, she didnt reply. I contacted her again by the end of the day and no reply either. The dryness cardboard bread can be seen in the photo. The date and cinnamon bread was also tasteless, no cinnamon and the dates are barely nocticeable. A previous review has once said it can do with a bit more dates. I’d add it can do with having dates in it. You need a microscope to see the two tiny pieces in a slice. Finally, any respectable business would acknowledge at the very least the email, offers a replacement or a refund. I paid £43.10 I can no longer recommend this business and subject you to this lack of respect, a most expensive poor quality bread and service. Shame on you, Tanya, ignoring the problem doesnt make it go away.

My husband has been very disappointed by bread since he was diagnosed as coeliac, so the starter pack looked like a great opportunity despite the sky high price. However, he was even more disappointed with this bread than all the others. So heavy they could be used to replace house bricks and he found them all totally inedible. He spat out the bits he tried he found them so bad. All went in the bin, so certainly won’t be buying again.

Perfect breads, we will definitely order again. Finally found a brand that doesn’t pack those harmful ingredients. Real taste x thanks

I think the negative reviews are a little harsh. You cannot compare any of their products with your standard soft white loaf or a gluten free alternative from the supermarket because they are full of additives and toxic chemicals. These breads are healthy and because of that people need to make allowances (texture, colour, scent etc). Personally I think the sourdough is a dense texture so not ideal for a sandwich etc but delicious toasted and the focaccia is absolutely divine. I’ve missed bread so much in the last year after a late diagnosis and wanting to avoid the supermarket junk. Please keep the recipes the same (clean ingredients) thanks!

I echo the feedback of the previous 1 star reviews. I have had much more tasty and fluffy buckwheat bread from bakeries in Maida Vale and Hampstead than the loaf I received in the starter pack, which is very dense and difficult to eat. I certainly could not eat a sandwich with the buckwheat nor the sourdough loaves. Disappointed and a waste of money on the taster pack!

The pricing model suggested the very best gluten free products I’d ever taste. At over £6 per loaf for six loaves delivered it felt like a time warp. But not in a good way. The heaviest small package immediately rang alarm bells. It felt like they were charging by weight rather than.quality. So dense so chewy it was like the bad old days of being coeliac. Main brands in supermarkets are much more edible.

I love this bakery and the negative reviews are ridiculously unfair. Real gluten free food baked without bad oils and ingredients usually packed into supermarket gluten free items. I purchase cut loaves and freeze. Yes it takes longer to toast, but the taste is authentic and I hope recipes do not change. I’m not sure what the negative reviewers are expecting but they are welcome to buy gluten free unhealthy items from supermarkets.

Really love the large sourdough have been buying it for a few years now and was delighted when they introduced the option to have it sliced. It is delicious when toasted - tried some of the other loaves but def would put the sourdough as a firm favourite.

Googled Knife & Fork to order some more bread and came across these fairly brutal reviews. I have to say I’ve had the opposite experience and I’m really impressed with these loaves. I was diagnosed with coeliac disease in summer 2022 and went through a few super market gluten free breads which made me so thirsty for days and the list of ingredients was very long and a bit synthetic. In an attempt to find gluten free bread with minimal ingredients which don’t make me really thirsty I came across Knife & Fork. I ordered the starter kit and so far have tried them all. The focaccia is particularly good and all the other loaves are great with soups, cheese on toast, with stews. Some of the loaves are small, which I get due to the ingredients they use and making them not collapse but the sour doughs you can get some good sized slices of for sandwiches etc. I sliced and froze my bread when it arrived and it’s easy to use, either heated up or toasted, as and when I need it and it tastes like proper bread! Thanks Knife & Fork for creating coeliac friendly loaves. Really appreciate your work and I’ll be ordering some more soon. :)

I write this review with some reluctance but I don't want another person to be as disappointed as I was. I received my first taster box a few days ago after waiting with much excitement. Website promises bread for sandwiches and great texture and taste - to say I am disappointed is an understatement!! The box was very small and heavy, each loaf was like a house brick and very dry. Completely inedible. I should have put the £35 I paid towards a decent bread maker and made my own - expensive lesson learned I suppose.

Ordered the taster pack which came with 6 different loaves, a great selection and sounded really promising but I ordered them on Sunday, they arrived on Friday and weighed a ton! So heavy and tasteless. Every single loaf tasted like sawdust and was absolutely dreadful. I sliced every loaf and it was like cutting through clay. I then tried a piece just with butter and another toasted. Most tasted better when toasted, which is a saving grace but still not great sadly. Won't be ordering again. £40 in the bin there!

They say there's no stabilisers or chemicals which is great, but when your bread arrives 3 days after its baked it could be used to beat someone to death. While, the flavour is good and I'm sure this might be nice fresh, ordering online is an expensive way to buy some breadlike rocks.

OMG, I'm THRILLED with my Taster Pack I received today! So many loaves and all so different. If you cannot eat gluten you generally get disappointed with the bread offered in supermarkets and I had given up. Now The Bakery has set my spirits soaring again as every load was just delicious!

Used The Bakery by Knife and Fork for the first time to order Gluten Free bread for my coeliac sister who is really struggling to find a tasty alternative to bread. Great service and the spare loaf they added to the order was greatly appreciated.
