Drinks were excellent, food was good. My problem is having a communal toilet - what a bizarre idea. You go into the toilets and doors are marked for men and women. Most men don’t want to be in a cubicle next to a woman and vice versa . Extremely embarrassing

Went for a buffet breakfast with my family, for the price the food and service were awful. Limited choices of all food, waited 15 minutes for 2 eggs, it wasent even busy. Staff were more interested in their phones giving off a very cold atmosphere. Most of the food was below par, machine coffe the milk tasted off. I feel I have just thrown my money down the drain. Like most other people will never return unless new management. Would have been better spending half the money at a better tasting breakfast at tesco.

We decided to eat here as there is little choice in the area. We were told at 7:10 that there would be a 30 minute wait before they could take our food order as they only had two chefs! We agreed and were given a nice booth table. They took our drinks order quickly and food order after exactly 30 minutes. Food then took 25 minutes to arrive. Cod cheeks with chips and pie of the day - chicken, leek and mushroom - both good. With an apple and raspberry juice and two pints of CzechMate lager, the bill was £65. Breakfast was chaotic: we had to ask for hot buffet items to be replenished and wait ages for this to happen. Pasties also ran out and were not replenished.

Friendly and helpful staff, but best described as pub food at hotel prices, expensive for what we had, portions not that big, had pie of the day and can best describe as shop bought, nice venue but sadly better choices locally.

Set in a new development of somewhat futuristic design the restaurant offers a relaxing ambience with good service and food to match. Sunday lunch for two, three courses, drinks and coffees was just below £100.00

We saw this walking through Eddington on the way to West Cambridge from the PI Girton and gave it a try for Sunday evening. Not at all disappointing - the service was friendly without being intrusive, good selection of drinks and a proper choice of Sunday roasts with plenty of vegetables. Decent dessert too and good value overall. Well worth a try.

We had initially attempted to have lunch here, arriving just before 12pm. When I inquired about a table, I was told point blank that no tables were available until 14:30pm. However, moments later I checked their online reservation system, and there were clearly multiple time slots open with plenty of availability. Feeling confused, I returned to speak to the front of house. I showed her the online reservation system's availability and requested an explanation. Her explanations came across to me as excuses, because they were not offered when I initially inquired for a table moments ago. Her explanations being, she was only able to offer me 2 tables right at the front which she didn't think would be acceptable to me, and then later, another explanation being their table availability and reservation system needs manual working out which she was in the middle of doing. I told her if this was the case she should have told me this was happening and tables may become available shortly, instead of point blank saying there would be no tables until 14.30pm. Her colleague defended her, and it does make me wonder if this is some kind of 'system' they have going on, to have a quieter shift, because after we finished our lunch at a cafe next door, the entire restaurant still had significant number of empty tables.

While out in Eddington, it really is the best establishment in the surrounding area. From craft cocktails both on and off the list to an old style ale, the drinks has something for everyone. Particularly try to visit during Liam's shift as the man knows his way around a shaker and can wow you with drinks off the menu. Food list is also very good. Great service, good food, nice setting. We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal and didnt have to struggle into central Cambridge or pay for parking. It’s easy to cycle there from Cambridge, there’s parking under Sainsbury’s and P&Ride is just round the corner if you are coming from an outlying village.

Went with my niece who was visiting me in Cambridge. I wanted to treat her and she doesn't often visit higher-end restaurants. The Astronomer is part of the ever-reliable Cambs Cuisine group and did not let us down; this was the first time that I had eaten there and I will be returning. Food is great - modern British, carefully thought through, excellent presentation. The menu isn't extensive with fewer dishes, based on local and seasonal produce, done very well - I'd always much rather this than an extensive menu of mediocre quality. Vegetarian and vegan options available for all courses. The waiting staff were particularly good - friendly, patient and engaging.

The Astronomer isn't much better than the awful restaurant that was there before. The food was average and the Chocolate Sphere was an abomination. Poor service let the whole evening down. Unfortunately I think this is one of those restaurants in hotels that don't rely on repeat business; they don't try too hard as their customers are just tourists passing through.

Too many bad points to list; here are some. The table was sticky where the varnish had reacted with the sanitiser so every thing had to be pulled off the table. We had three different servers who didn’t know who had done what. Service very poor with zero knowledge on what the steak cut of the day was. On passing this feedback on to the who we thought was the manager at the end when he asked us if everything was ok; rather than listening to our constructive feedback he started ranting on that the restaurant had only been opened for two months and the problem was that they were busy that night then started to patronise me stating that the staff were new and we all have to learn somewhere at somepoint. A very poorly managed restaurant with substandard food. We will not be eating eat here again.

I love staying at Turing Locke when in the country and thought I’d try the new restaurant with high hopes. 🙁 It is situated below the Hyatt Centric Hotel and could be a good place to just have a drink in the future and eat elsewhere. The vegan option of Harissa grilled aubergine with cous cous blah blah blah was uncooked and gluggy. Throwing in a few pomegranate seeds to look posh. Please check your bill. I was given a glass of free wine but still can’t work out if I got it. In addition, I was charged a service fee of 12.5%. I returned and asked for it to be returned, which it was. I think this restaurant and staff have a long way to go. I won’t be returning.

A fantastic meal from start to finish, from the moment we sat down my friends and I felt relaxed and comfortable. It seemed they were a little short on staff on the night but it still felt like we received attentive and personal service. The manager Tiago and the bar man George made sure we were topped up for drinks and gave some great recommendations on the food and beverage front. But the main event for me was the food..All of our party agreed that everything we ate clearly had a lot of thought and care put into the flavour and ingredient combinations, not to mention the impeccable presentation! Hats off to all the chefs and all the staff. I can guarantee that we will be back.. 5 stars!

Having been to three other restaurants in the chain, we had looked forward to celebrating my son’s birthday with dinner at The Astronomer. We were deeply disappointed. The service was poor and the quality of the food mixed. Four starters were ordered; one was incorrect and a side dish to accompany a main course appeared with the starters. The duck parfait was bland and served with stale bread. There was an incredibly long wait for the main courses. We had to ask twice how much longer we would be waiting. The steaks were cooked perfectly and delicious; the steak pies looked and tasted like something from a downmarket supermarket and the pork belly was 95% fat with very little meat. We declined puddings as we had had enough of hanging around for indifferent food. It took 5 attempts to get the bill correct as items were overcharged and the £60 deposit hadn’t been deducted. Although there was a 15% discount for the unacceptable wait, there was no apology. The manager said the restaurant had only recently opened. It had been open for 17 days which is ample time to ensure staff are properly trained, food is expertly prepared and cooked and problems have been ironed out. If they are not ready to deliver good food and service, they should not be accepting customers. Such a shame my son’s birthday celebration was so spoiled.

Very disappointing experience. On arrival we were asked for our name and number in the party 3 times! I had pre booked. The service was poor. No one seemed to know what they were doing. We ordered drinks, the drinks were written down. I watched the guy at the bar preparing them, not a clue. After a long wait, the drinks arrived….there was no gin in the gin and tonic! Long wait for the food. The starters arrived and the waiter did not know what they were. There was one bread and 2 parfaits! Good ok but poor presentation and the bread was brioche, which did not go with the parfait. Steak was on the menu as Market Cut. We asked what it was, ribeye. We should have also asked the price. £42 each for a ribeye is beyond ridiculous. It was good but not that good. In fairness I complained and was given a discount. However, they were no where near ready to open, the staff clearly had not been trained. Huge improvement needed if they are going to charge these prices.

The Astronomer is well situated in Cambridge, with easy parking. The interior design is welcoming, robust and cool. Most importantly, the acoustics work and with the tables divided by the layout design this allows for privacy and whole table conversations, within a buzzing brasserie vibed room. Good cocktails, good food menu. Service friendly and prompt. I would highly recommend.

We were invited to an evening meal with friends at this new Cambridge restaurant. The staff were welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable (Our friends have specific and unusual dietary requirements that were catered for without any issues). I started with a Duck pate which was delicious, my main course of Venison steak was in my opinion the best I have yet to have. I was too full for pudding, but my wife assured me that her sticky toffee pudding was perfect. Being on the edge of town with ample parking outside, we couldn't ask for a better-situated "new favourite".

I had a lovely dinner with girlfriends here the other night, and I'd definitely recommend this place. Great atmosphere, really welcoming and friendly. The signature cocktails, particularly the bramble, were truly delicious. I started with the crispy poached egg appetizer, which was done to perfection. The runny, but not too runny, yolk in the middle and the crispy outside; I couldn't have asked for a better appetizer. For the main course, I went for the stone bass with squid ink noodles, which was a fabulous pairing. What pleasantly surprised me was the portion sizes – they were just right. I can’t wait to come back!

Visited here with friends on Saturday evening. Ordered mains and starter, though the starters ere forgotten about, our mains were brought out and at that point had to remind where are the starters? Halloumi was feeling nice though and bread and salad brought out. We were rushed to finish our starter with plates taken away as soon as we each finished, and asked before one us finished are we ready now for msin course. Main came out I had the chicken beating asked for chips but hot rice, they brought out chips on asking. Again we were rushed to finish despite restaurant only being half full. They tried to take my friends plate although he hadn't finished it. The mixed grill he had was nice though with the description and price £20 would have expected more meat. Overall food was good, but so cheeky to add the service charge onto the bill. Especially given service was so poor. I would have contested it but my friend didn't want a scene. Shame really as if it was not for that would go back.

I had been craving Taiwanese Fried chicken since I'd arrived in the UK and chanced upon the shop while walking around and I'm so glad I did. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and crispy and best of all its halal. There's also other dishes I enjoy such as Korean Army stew, roasted duck with rice and more. I had the fried chicken breast and tropical fruit tea in store and bought wonton noodle soup for takeaway. My new favourite place for sure, if I could I'd eat there everyday.
