Best Taiwanese street food in Cambridge!

I always order from Ji, the chicken shop, but I am constantly blown away by their careful attention to detail and quality. Today, though, I was shocked by their generosity and spirit of sharing their Taiwanese cuisine with me, even giving me three little 'secrets' to getting my food to taste as good as theirs - yes, this may be a (v small!) 'chain', but this very specific franchise, I have to say, is probably the best in the country. Short of going to Taipei City, you will genuinely not taste better anywhere else :-D

Me and my friend went here for my birthday when visitng cambridge. we are originally from london. the food was very tasty and reasonably priced. the staff were very kind and well behaved i hope to return back to cambridge and this shop. I did leave them a small gift and hope to give a better one when me and my friend return . ;)

Hands down my favorite fried chicken in Cambridge. The only thing I order is the popcorn chicken with seaweed or plum seasoning. They seem to be increasing their prices lately, but the quality remains the same. Better than KFC.

Definitely the best Taiwanese street food restaurant in the town.

The proprietress is not in the store recently. Every time I buy fried sweet potatoes, the girl from the stand will reserve a portion for herself. The portion is not as big as when the boss is there. This has happened several times. The experience is very uncomfortable. If it is that small My sister is in the store and probably won't go in.

Ji The Chicken is truly incredible! Every dish I’ve tried has been delicious and exceeded my expectations—it's like a taste of heaven. The chef is amazing, and the quality of the food really stands out. Without a doubt, this is the best restaurant in Cambridge. Plus, it's 100% halal, making it very Muslim-friendly.

Lady at the front was really nice and accommodating, she also charged my phone for me when I didn’t have a charger. The curry sauce that comes with the thigh and rice was really good

love everything here bcs it's so hard to find halal food in cambridge :( the owner was so sweet too! we talked alot due to both of us came from the same country! went here almost everyday when i was in cambridge! wont forget this place and the uncle!! so sad looking back at the pic bcs i really do hope this shop will still be here when i come again in the future, fingers crossed! and i hope the uncle remember me still hoho! will come here again!!! :>> (only took one pic eating here bcs im too hungry to take any pic whenever im here T-T)

I had been craving Taiwanese Fried chicken since I'd arrived in the UK and chanced upon the shop while walking around and I'm so glad I did. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and crispy and best of all its halal. There's also other dishes I enjoy such as Korean Army stew, roasted duck with rice and more. I had the fried chicken breast and tropical fruit tea in store and bought wonton noodle soup for takeaway. My new favourite place for sure, if I could I'd eat there everyday.

I’d give 10 star to their attitude to their foods - they take each order SERIOUSLY! Very very delicious. Chicken very tender. The boss is very serious about the food he produces! I was catching the train, and she explained to me that if I fried the tofu for 2 minutes less, it would stick together (but she still helped me to pick it up); I wanted to forget about the chicken pieces that were too late to be fried, but the boss lady gave me a big chicken cutlet. Run to catch the train. The train caught up and I got home safely. I ate delicious tofu and chicken steak on the train (the tofu didn't stick to each other). It was very delicious. It was hot and happy. The whole carriage was full of greed. Thanks! I will definitely come back next time and sit down and have a good meal

Delicious beef noodles (despite it being billed as “Chicken shop” it does very good beef:)) with just the right amount of spring in noodles. No fuss quick service and a young, friendly staff. £10 for noodles with lots of veg. A steal !

the noodles they serve are instant noodles and are the most expensive instant noodles i have had in my life.

Fried chicken is not crispy at all, cold and stiff. Much worse than other Ji chicken shop branches.

The ultimate Taiwanese fried chicken spot! Can’t believe I never noticed this place. We ordered the breast and pop corn chicken. Octopus balls and beef udon. I wouldn’t recommend any thing other than the fried chicken! It was so crispy and flavoursome and a great price. The service was a little slow because they are always busy. The service was entertaining.

One of the worst places to eat. We did spent £20 but the service, the food and the hygiene was horrible. We saw them confused with 5/6 orders in 15 mins. The food was not at all tasty and the bubble in bubble tea was not even bubble.

The beef noodles was very nice. Big portion, flavourful soup. The noodles themselves were not too soft and not too hard, just right. The staff were very friendly as well.

Lovely store round the corner on Regent Street. Cozy and well maintained, staffs were friendly. A good selection of food items were available, from small bits for snacking, to full meals. Drinks such as fruit tea, milk tea, and bubble tea also available in store. We had fried tofu, popcorn chicken and crispy chicken breast on this instance. There is a selection of seasoning, from spicy, savoury, slight sweet, tangy and more. Classic plum flavouring is one of the most popular. Had been a regular, never disappointed in the delivery. Give it a try, you might love fried chicken all over again. P.s. also halal friendly!

味道非常好，来了很多次了基本上所有菜品都吃过一遍了，味道都很赞。 特别推荐鸡排和烧鸭饭还有云吞汤面🍜。 鸡排是第一次在英国吃到国内那种味道， 那个云吞汤面里面的云吞是纯纯的虾肉（口感超级好很弹牙一吃就知道很新鲜，而且还很用心的加了马蹄来提升口感） ；烧鸭饭也是跟粤式非常不同的版本，也别有一番风味，酱汁可以跟老板说可以少淋点（根据个人口味吧，我觉得酱汁会多了一些）

Very bad service - they only take cash and are very adamant about change. I ordered on Uber Eats eventually and went to pick it up but the costs on Uber ears is 1.5 pounds more. They were very rude when I asked for extra boba.

Nice little East Asian style snack shop. Specialises in crispy fried chicken and bubble/Taiwan milk teas. Rice, noodles and other snacks and desserts are on the menu. Liked the crispy tofu and takoyaki.

Horrible customer service! We waited for 10 mins for 2 cups of bubble tea and it wasnt even busy and they taste horrible. Very watery and so unprofessional. We threw away our drink. They were THAT horrible, coming from someone who hates to waste food.

This place is constantly giving out spoiled food. I’ve had spoiled fried chicken once and last time I ever ordered from there the fried tofu was spoiled. They need their hygiene and food rating docked. Never again.

Great bubble milk tea place to go, pearls are soft and chewy.

Chicken strips and popcorn chicken is good here. The bubble tea is also great, they do the pearls really good here (not too soft or too hard)

The chicken was good enough but the ‘ultimate’ salad was what you’d buy in a bag at the supermarket!! Awful. Minced beef and black bean was mediocre

Best Taiwanese fried chicken! Don’t let the slightly inconspicuous shop front put you off. Also very kindly giving out a free snack box to key workers during lockdown 2.0!

Worst fried chicken I've ever had

The food was great, but the service could do better! I'd love to go back again. Will probably try their London branch next.

I ordered dumplings and it was just nightmare. They bring me 5 6 dumplings with hot water. When I asked what was it? They said it is dumplings soup. But I can tell it was dumplings and boiled water. Not come back!

All things is so active and nice food , gaming bar downstairs as well , will come again

This place is an absolute mess. Normal restaurant price while this place is dirty and the proportion is so small with what you pay. There are table cover on where I sit but there was clearly sauce dipped on the table on different places from the previous customers and the whole table cloth just looked very dirty and full of stained. The whole thing just looked disgusting and I couldn't wait to leave as soon as I finished my meal. I ordered beef rice with cheese. The rice was clearly microwaved and too much sauce with the beef and not enough beef itself. Paying £8 for that was an absolutely joke. The portion didn't even full you up. This shop is honestly more like a take away shop more than a restaurant. Whilst claiming there're sit downstairs, they have actually converted into a room with computers so people can pay to play online games I supposed?! Like - a restaurant where you can play the computer... There are so many nice restaurants on Regent street and it is a shamed to have such insanitary restaurant there.

Fried chicken breast (bonelsss) really good and the fried chicken strips are also delicious. The fries not so great and the matcha milk tea is spot on. Shame about lack of seating and general ambience.

Expensive and very greasy food.

I have been this shop before , service and food was not good enough,but this time food and drinks so taste ,under the new management service so friendly and good , fast and very comfortable

Much in keeping with Good Friend Chicken in Chinatown, this place is grotty, the service abysmal and rude, the breast has a pinkish hue half the time ... and all for London prices rather than Cambridge ones. Not that it matters. This is the crunchiest-on-the-outside, moistest-on-the-inside bite of heaven a fried chicken lover could be treated to. The flavoured powders are essential. If you haven't tried it, you owe it to yourself to do so immediately.

Just passed by this place today and hey this is the same chain as the Good Friend Chicken in London Chinatown! I ordered the popcorn chicken and it was 5 star quality. The boneless chicken pieces were properly marinated (i.e., not bland or overly salty). The batter was just right to give it good amount of crunch and not thick and doughy. I had to knock one star off due to portion size. The portion was quite small...probably about 10 pieces of chicken per bag. Update (10/12/18): just went to GFC in London and confirmed that their portion was larger (14 pieces at least).

The food is good but for the amount of food became really expensive. Away from the quality-price the service is terrible. We asked for a non spicy food but all the food was spicy. Other than that they served the food without any plate or napkins. I have ordered a portion of chicken wings and the front of house refused to serve me because it takes time to be cooked and they have the drumstick already cooked. One of the worst service I get in town. Never again.

Being big fans of everything (asian) chicken, we were very excited to witness the recent opening of Ji's and looked forward to our first visit.The overall experience on the day however left us with the impression of this being a rather amateurish operation that may have missed the opportunity of providing a truly inspiring selection of authentic, succulent chicken dishes.Our items left the kitchen one at a time with agonising intervals in between.Our first item took almost 20 minutes to exit the kitchen.Our fries appeared half way through and sat there in a bag waiting for the rest of the takeaway order.The chicken was not succulent; it was overcooked and rubbery. Not an enlightening experience at all. Shaking an assortment of exotic herbs and spices over the chicken will just not hide an inferior product.As the new kid on the bloc, we do want to give them the benefit of the doubt and try them one more time at a later date.Cash Only!!
