We’ve not been for ages but tonight we had another fantastic meal with great service. Highlights were the octopus and fish curry but everything was top notch. You won’t find a better menu or restaurant in Bristol. Going to try their roast in a few weeks and we can’t wait.

This is our go to place when we are in Bristol. Delicious and interesting food which is great value. Relaxed and friendly place. Highly recommended.

Our daughter took advantage of a special offer to treat us to dinner in this awesome place. We had a choice of three small dishes each and we basically tried everything that was on the menu. It was such a culinary adventure... I can't remember now exactly what we had, but I loved all of the dishes apart from one... the combinations were so unusual... yet they worked. Even the house wine was excellent. I think it was called Sole mio or something similar. The atmosphere, the service, the smiles... It was a few months ago, but our happy memories are still lingering. Thank you for giving us such a great time. We couldn't have been happier

We've just had another amazing meal at this restaurant, enough mussels to sink a ship an amazing sauce, hake and the ubiquitous truffle chips to die for and I could go on and on. If you haven't already tried this place you're missing out.

We were very excited to visit the Art cafe given its fabulous reputation. Unfortunately we were left disappointed. We sat at the window on the stools and the staff did not acknowledge us for 20 minutes. When we finally got menus and ordered (another 10 minutes) we had no further communication from the staff. Food arrived 40 minutes later, two of the dishes were cold. When we asked the member of staff what caused the delay they finally acknowledged we were there, said the kitchen was backed up (in spite of very few people actually getting food) and gave us a round of drinks.

Creative menu with well prepared seasonal ingredients. Also nice service and good recommendations from the list of quality wines from different parts of the World. Oh, and also very reasonable prices. Highly recommended!

I’ve been here previously for brunch before which was great, but the dinner was even better. Between two of us we had four of the small plates and two of the premium, and it was all incredible. Amazing variety, great service and a lovely atmosphere. The hangar steak and the gurnard were particularly delicious! Thw sauces were also awesome. Will be coming again!

Must say this place surprised us. We were a group of 6 and all has the art house breakfast meat and veggie option. It was... AMAZING. Honestly portion and price was great. Don't change a thing it was absolutely great.

This place has been a Gloucester road establishment for a very longtime and has changed over a few times. The new owners have done an amazing but difficult job. They have kept the feel of the area while upgrading the quality of the food. The food is of a high quality but still very accessible. The coffee is to die for. The staff are really friendly and you can easily spend an entire afternoon here w/o worring about anything.

We visited as a table of 5 on a Saturday brunch after being recommended by friends to check it out! Upstairs was full so we asked if they had anything downstairs, the waitress went down & said we could sit downstairs. We were served chilled water with menus then shortly had our orders taken. After the order was taken & we had sat down & got comfortable the waiter said it might be a little longer wait (we expected it to be maybe half an hour max) I appreciate everything is fresh to order but we waited almost an hour for poached eggs! The friendly waiter brought us down pastries after we asked how long it would be after 40 minutes & could see how hungry we were. Finally, our brunch arrived one at a time with a few minutes in between each so once I got mine my friends had almost finished. My poached eggs were then over cooked. My friends having the full English commented on how salty both meals were. After my food arrived I asked if there was a reason why it took so long & the friendly waiter said the usual chef was on holiday & one guy was covering. I work in hospitality so I completely understand being short staffed or a slower service with new chefs but if so then tell the customers how long it will be or simply don’t take a table of 5 & seat them where it seemed they don’t usually seat guests as no one joined us during the hour and a half visit. I assume the male waiter was the manager who was very polite & friendly who gave us 20% off the bill which we appreciated but the female waitress on shift today (10th November) seemed to have an attitude, didn’t smile & was quite abrupt. Hopefully it was just a bad experience for us on a unlucky day.

Great food, beer and wine. Had a lovely meal here again this evening. Service and food were both faultless. Fab pumpkin, scallops, steaks and chips. Lovely gf estrella, draught pilsner and Sicilian wine and, as always, great value and really helpful service (we have food allergies so have to ask questions!)

Wow.. where to begin 4 Friends and I came here for a casual Saturday night meal and were really taken aback by the quality and standard of the food. We did the 3 plates for £12 (excellent value) and the food was next level delicious. I began with the pickled mackerel with butter milk, cucumber and dill which was beyond delicious. Followed by the beef brisket and truffle chips. These really stole the show for me. Beef brisket so tender it would bring Guy Fieri (the mayor of flavour town) to tears. Truffle chips so rich they’d make Jeff Bezos look poor. This really culminated in a real profusion of flavour. As if this wasn’t enough, we finished the night with the poached pears and honey panacotta, again, this blew us away. If you’re looking for somewhere with unbelievable food, incredible value and brilliant friendly service, look no further than the arts house. I live nearby and will be returning frequently.
