Creamy tomato soup and flat white was nice, breakfast sandwich was unimpressive. Their sourdough bread is amazing though. They work very slowly, not recommended if you are in a rush.

Food and drink was fine, just extremely overpriced and tiny portions. Almost £15 for a single slice of toast with a bit of salmon and an egg on top? Atmosphere was nice but won’t be going back due to overpriced, tiny portions.

A little café, deep in flavour and twinned with a (now unmanned) book shop. They take their tea seriously; various flavours and prepared correctly. The breakfast I had was Eggs Royale. I had Assam loose tea. Both were of high quality. Your main concern however will be trying to find a table and chair that is comfortable. A quirky variety, but practically, most chairs here aren’t for sitting in for a long time.

I love the Art of Tea and have been very many times, for coffee, lunch and live music. I'm pretty sure I've had breakfast here before and I'm sure it was better for vegans. My vegan breakfast yesterday, sadly, wasn't great. Veg sausages aren't vegan. I don't like chilli on breakfast foods so I didn't have the beans, but I was allowed to have double avocado portion. Sadly, the avocado was bitter and mostly hard so there were huge lumps amidst the mashed avo. I left most of it. Few mushrooms and little bits of fried potato (not 'hash browns') were overcooked and toast was dry. Not good value at £11.75 and not really any other choice for vegans. My friend had a flapjack which was really tough - she was given a fork to eat it with but that was not possible. Really disappointing. Not what it was.

A lovely little cafe in the heart of Didsbury village, which is let down by high prices and poor management. Despite ordering a dish listed on the menu, I was shocked when it was served without a key component (poached eggs, as part of a breakfast dish). The manager cited an error in the menu and stated extra would have to be paid if the eggs were wanted. This inconsistency left a sour taste in my mouth, overshadowing the taste of the food. After complaining, and pointing at the clear words on the menu, begrudginly the eggs were brought. The management's lack of transparency and professionalism tarnished what could have been a pleasant dining experience.

We have recently moved to Manchester and The Art of Tea was one of the reasons we felt comfortable choosing Didsbury as a place to settle. We visited on several occasions for coffee and sometimes brunch when house hunting and loved it’s charm and individuality. We then learned about their music nights and decided to book a table for the next one. What a joy! We knew the service would be up to it’s usual high standard (even more attentive actually given the reduced numbers) but beyond that we didn’t really know what to expect. Could it really morph successfully into an evening dining venue and what standard would the musicians be? Well, the answer to the first question was a resounding yes! The chilled evening vibe was delightful and the food utterly delicious! And as for the music - we were so impressed - 5 different musicians were presented to us by a compere who confidently complemented their professionalism. I write this partly with alacrity and partly with reluctance - it’s not a big place and I want to always be able to get a table!

It’s a pleasant place with good enough service but really, the ‘large’ size of coffee (their largest; they have M and L) is certainly not large in my book. This is a fantastic place to grab a coffee or lunch with a friend. But, if you are hoping to go alone and stay for longer than it takes to drink a coffee, then I'd go elsewhere. After having a one hour work meeting over a coffee with someone, I was asked to leave because my coffee was finished. I was told if I wanted to stay and work, I would need to buy another drink, even though no one was waiting for my table. I totally get asking people to leave who haven't purchased anything, but I had purchased two coffees for myself and a friend and was surprised that they asked me to leave once the coffees were finished.

Surely most people want their food served in under 50 minutes on a weekday lunchtime. Got fobbed off with the old, it will just be a few minutes, but after waiting ANOTHER few minutes, we were told that they would be making ours next. Even had the cheek to say that we were late for our reservation ( we were not) and that was why we had to wait over 45 minutes for service. A simple apology would have made a better impression. No idea what the food would be like, we ordered eggs, but think I would have been happy with pretty much anything half an hour earlier!

Came to get a cooked breakfast however after the reception I had when coming into the building I opted for just toast for a quicker exit. A group of men were stood having a big catch up when I walked in, the place didn’t look open as it was empty and they didn’t pause to greet me so I asked ‘are you open?’ Which after being answered was met with some inside jokes between the group of men who repeated what I said and laughed? Had I not struggled to get myself and my baby inside through the door (no help offered) then I’d have gone straight back out the door. A shame given the previous positive reviews but I won’t be returning to see if it’s any better next time.

The tables thinned out to less than half full. We went to ask where the food was at 1:45. Assured ‘we were next’. Still no one proactively came and checked on us, explained it apologised. The food arrived about 2pm. That’s about 50 mins after we arrived. For lunch. And when I complained, the waitress looked at me like what’s my problem. Like it wasn’t her problem. The food was fine. Unacceptable wait and service, and I won’t be back for food.

Great selection of teas including some interesting herbal infusions plus excellent coffees. The art of Tea also does food but we have not eaten here so are unable to comment. When we first came, a few years ago the cakes were amazing but the trend to more healthy options has spoilt them and we certainly have the cake much less often. They have a range of paintings and prints by local artists arranged on the walls and they are for sale too. The atmosphere is laid back and cosy and a mixed bag of upcycled tables chairs and crockery adds to a lovely arty vibe. There is an interesting 2nd hand bookshop in the back so you can read and tea if you wish. Would reccomend and we will continue to drink here. Update 2022 June.
