A big thank you to the team at The Arnage for making my husband’s 50th birthday breakfast so special today! From the start, Steph was incredibly helpful with all the prior communications and the pre-order process, which worked seamlessly for our large group. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The serving staff were both pleasant and attentive, ensuring everything ran smoothly. We had a wonderful time and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend!

Great place for food. I had the full breakfast and my daughter had poached eggs with halloumi, it was all very tasty. Coffee was spot on too. The staff were attentive, nice venue with a good vibe. Worth a visit into the shop and it’s a bonus if there is an event on - certainly somewhere to go if you like cars!

Lovely venue, however there a lot of teething problems that need addressing. When we walked in the lady turned round and said sit wherever before turning back around again. This is fine but it did feel like a bit of a cold welcome/first impression. When we got to the table there was only 1 menu for the 2 of us and that was a piece of paper covered in food. I’m unsure on other drinks being on the menu but we had to ask for the wine list. I have eaten here once before and we had fabulous table service, it’s sad to see they are no longer doing this and you have to go to the bar to order. We ordered steak but unfortunately it was sold out, it’s always very very quiet in there so I guess maybe they don’t order in a lot of produce. We ate early tea time so I was surprised they didn’t have any but we decided on something else. Which reminds me we had a table booked late last year for 18 of us. I ended up getting a call on the day of the reservation to be told we could only pick from 3 main meals and that was pie, a fish one and a veggie option.. sadly no steak or burgers then, so we was left with no choice but to cancel our meal and go to the plough where we got to pick from a very large varied menu. Back to our last visit, when the starters arrived they tasted really nice and we was off to a good start.. However when the main arrived, all I can say is picture eating your burger out of a very pale French bread roll, it wasn’t the best. I ended up leaving the bread and just eating the beef on its own, again this is new because I have had the burger before and it was in a lovely burger bun. The burger also had a small pot of mayo on the plate but sadly it was all slimy with a thick layer of hardened mayo on top, which of course didn’t look very appealing. I can only imagine to save time they pre pour them and have them in the fridge but don’t cover them in cling film to keep in the moisture in. Unfortunately no one came to ask if the food was ok and even when the plates were cleared away, we was greated with pure silence. There is next to no atmosphere in the restaurant, this time there was a few other tables in but last time sadly only 1 other table, it would really benefit from some back ground music.. or if there was background music it needs to be slightly louder as I’m pretty sure it was silent in there. At this point we had an hour to spare but didn’t want to stay and drink or get a dessert, we very quickly wanted to leave and go elsewhere. For such a beautiful venue and a slightly higher price point, the service and quality didn’t match that.. sadly I understand why a lot of my local friends & family choose not to eat here. It’s a shame because other than the white horse & the plough, there isn’t anything else locally that’s a bit more premium where you can enjoy your weekend evenings. A lot could be done to make this place a success and fill all of those empty tables.

Coming to the Motorist periodically to look around at nice cars, and motorbikes, sit on the balcony with a pint of cold beer, enjoy the view and decide to try some food. And it's so disappointing compared to the price. Fish and chips for £15- don't need to describe as you can see it in the picture. My East Coast Chowder is £18, where the menu says “mussels, clams, PRAWNS” etc.. The taste was good, but for this price found only one prawn cut into 3 pieces, 4 clams and 5 mussels. Customer service does not exist at all and no one clears the tables to sit new customers. We will be back, but definitely not to the restaurant.

The food, as ever, was cracking. A decent amount and well cooked, served hot as you would expect. However, the service was severely lacking. It started brightly, prompt serving of drinks, food order etc. Then we were all but forgotten about. Nobody seemed keen to clear the table, it was a good 20+ minutes after we completed our meals until someone came over to clear the table. At no point did anyone ask whether we would like another drink or a coffee etc after our meal. The place is lovely, as is the food, but it is let down by poor service. I doubt we will be rushing back for a meal, but instead stick to a sandwich and a brew from the cafe on a morning.

I can't believe I haven't discovered this venue until now! Not far from me, this is a fantastic, alternative event space that would be perfect for a Naming or Wedding celebration. The space is filled with motor related memorabilia and cars which makes it a great choice for anyone with an interest in automobiles! However, with great food and stunning panoramic views from the function room upstairs, this has something to offer everyone!

Came with family and friends, 7 of us, and was a truly appetising brunch. I went for the sausage donut stack and was pleased with it. Whilst I would say the lunch menu is on the expensive side but is quality, the breakfast menu is pretty good value, especially the full tank. Service was rather swift despite it being packed, so great credit to the staff as a whole.

This was the second time that I have been to The Arnage Restaurant. The first visit the two main meals (the pie and the chicken burger) where excellent. The chicken burger I had was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, a great burger. The children’s meal we ordered was a slight let down. After explains my daughters food allergies we where told that the burger would be fine, so ordered that. When it arrived without a bread bun, due to allergies, it would have been nice to have been informed before the food arrived so that we could have changed the order. On the second visit the main courses (I even ordered the same chicken burger) where just average. The chicken was dry and the battered fish just didn’t taste that fresh. The deserts we ordered this time though where excellent! The biggest let down on both occasions was the very slow service. Considering the restaurant was only ever 2/3 full and there was a few staff just stood around, after being show to our table every happen in slow motion. This was our third visit to the Arnage and will be the last. Each visit has progressively gone downhill. There was no acknowledgement or greeting on entry , slow service, and had to send my coffee back twice, as It was lukewarm at best. The GF toast was ok but brought on a hot plate, which left the butter like oil. We were told it couldn't be brought separately as that would involve more work. It's a shame as the cafe serves decent hot coffee. The concept is good, but poor execution lets it down. As an aside to all this, I wonder which brain surgeon of an architect designed a building where the kitchen is the furthest point from the restaurant.

My mother (and her friend) ate here and had such a bad experience I am writing a review on her behalf. The staff were very inexperienced and offered my mam a gluten free alternative to the fish pasta which turned up as just a tiny fillet of fish in a watery sauce and no pasta. When questioning the staff they said they’d run out of pasta and couldn’t offer anything else/ failed tell my mam before in case she wanted to change her order. They quickly ate and paid up for their bad decision in going here and went for coffee and cake elsewhere as left hungry after £20 pp bill. Poor experience, poor staff, tiny portions!!

We went as part of a group of approx. 50 and were told it was £40.00 a head for a 3 course set menu lunch in the upstairs part of the Arnage. We had been previously and ate downstairs, the lunch was nice , but rather pricey, so for £40.00 each we had good expectations. We were told to be seated for 1.30, the soup wasn't served until 2 o'clock, they claimed it was tomato but it was a browney red and did not taste of tomato. The main was meat pie, chips and mushy peas. The crust on the pie was very hard, and had to be hacked and the meat inside was dry, uneatable. A friend who was seated with us who had been in the restaurant business commented that the pie had been reheated at least 3 times. The chips were tasteless. The pudding was parkin with sticky toffee sauce poured on it. A diabetic on our table asked for an alternative and was told they couldn't accommodate this request. The service was slow for all 3 courses. I have not found anything positive about the experience.

I was kind of expecting a cafe/ bistro experience it is that vibe and quite noisy but the food is definitely restaurant standard. First visit ordered small plates, sides and starter as a sharing meze they were all really good. On our second visit hubby had Sunday lunch with 3 meats he said they were all very good, Mum had chicken and said it was the best roast chicken she had ever tasted at 76 and always orders chicken that is a true compliment. The veggies and potatoes were plentiful and very well cooked. I ordered bbq cauliflower wings with roasted pepper salad, charred corn and blue cheese sauce but this isn’t what I got, I got a plate of steamed cauliflower on a bed of sweet & spicy sticky onions, I had to ask about the peppers, corn and sauce accompaniments after a little confusion I was given a cold pepper with tinned sweet corn salad and a cold blue cheese sauce. So definitely mis described on the menu however it was absolutely delicious and I enjoyed every bite. A little mis description on the deserts too listed Parkin was definitely sticky toffee pudding, Panacota was a definitely a posset but again both very nice. Coffee and wine were also of good quality. It was just a bit odd not getting what we had ordered but it was all so nice there was no point in complaining about it. It was a very very busy day with it being super car day but the service was still very good. I look forward to going again and think it will become a regular favourite.

Booked for Sunday lunch for my husbands birthday as we visit the motorist 3 out of 4 Sundays a month and thought today would be a fantastic place to enjoy his special occasion. Food was outstanding it's been a long while since I've eaten a roast dinner that has silenced me. The meat was tender and juicy, the gravey was perfection and the vegetables was brilliantly done and served. Portion size was great too. This would of been a 5* review however the service really let it down. When first seated there was only a few tables in but as our mains arrived the place started to fill up however they had more than enough waiting staff to manage the tables (around 2 or 3 tables per server). Starters arrived promptly and were cleared as we had just finished up and the mains soon followed however after we finished our mains we were waiting 20/25 minutes before anyone came over to check how our meals had been and to take our plates away, offer more drinks or desserts. By this point I walked over to the bar to place a drinks order and ask for information regarding desserts. During our time of waiting all the tables around us had been sat served drinks and mains and their tables cleared. The bar staff were shocked no one had been over as there were 5 waiting staff stood by the bar looking lost. I took our drinks back to the table with menus and we waited for someone to come over and take our order. After a further 10 minutes (plates still on the table) a young lady (different to who had been serving us but had however been working a majority of the restaurant alone whilst her colleagues stood around)came over to what we presumed was to take an order however she informed us we needed to move tables as another booking was due in 10 minutes and they needed the table back. We quickly finished our drinks and began to left the restaurant. Upon leaving the restaurant one of our party members informed the restaurant supervisor who didn't seem to mind we'd had a bad experience she did offer to box us up a cake to take away however we politely declined as we would of preferred something off of the dessert menu to sit and eat. She appeared to shrug this off and again didn't really mind much we'd had a bad experience and that it had spoiled my husbands birthday meal. This could be just a 1 off occasion however we will be putting off coming back for a meal for a while whilst staff are correctly trained/organised and whilst the supervisor becomes more comfortable in her role. Again food was amazing though and would like to try again at some point.

(That was it) My steak was rare not medium to top it off. My partners pie was dry and over cooked and the rude waiter said 'well you've had a good try of it!' Amazing place hidden away in the countryside. Great atmosphere and food all around! Go find Alex and Kieren! Top lads!

Came for lunch with my wife on 30th May. I have booked a table, but no one was interested. We were waiting 30 min for someone to take our order. Left the place after this… will not recommend to consider this place for lunch during working week. Staff is rude and very disrespectful.

Great food, great service and a fabulous atmosphere. There are some really cool cars on display and a load of great cars in the car park. It has a nice shop too with some motoring momentos, clothing and interesting snacks and gifts.

Great place, good value for money in the restaurant. The cafe is OK but not up to the same standard as the restaurant for value and quality.

Surprised to find a car event on. Restaurant is modern and serves a wide range of dishes. Chicken Caesar salad was very good; anchovies! Service was ok if a little slow but they were busy.

Absolutely love The Motorist but the food is well below standards for the price and place. Beef burger is especially poor quality meat and has the same texture and taste as a burger van.

Nice food and portions, very attentive and friendly staff . Little pricey but worth it for the environment. Book in advance if a Sunday to avoid disappointment.

Fantastic place. Food was lush, and plenty of it. Highly recommended . Vintage cars in restaurant, and more to look round in another area.

1st time at the Motorist with Arnage Restaurant part of it, if you're into cars it's just for you....I could imagine Jeremy Clarkson having this at his Diddly Squat Farm if he was allowed. It's a lovely building with plenty of room to enjoy The Motorist experience. Definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area.

One of the best Sunday roasts I've had in a long time, if not ever. I had the pork belly and my wife ordered the chicken. Both dishes came out with a good helping of roast potatoes and a huge Yorkshire pudding on top, joined by 3 side dishes of broccoli shoots, cauliflower cheese and roast parsnips/carrots/turnip. There was more than enough for the two of us and the service was excellent. If you like nice food and cars, in a unique motoring themed setting, this is a must.

Visited for Sunday lunch. Really enjoyed our meal. Portion sizes were generous and really didn’t need a dessert but couldn’t resist the apple crumble. We dropped into the motorist shop too and was very impressed with products that they had available to purchase. Next visit we’ll go in time to see the amazing cars that head there.

We've been to The Motorist a number of times for a drink but thought we would try the Arnage Restaurant as the food smelt great. We were seated promptly and shown the menus. After about 15 minutes we were asked about any drinks or food which arrived quite quickly, although the wrong drinks landed on our table. That's where our service ended. The food was tasty and portion size was adequate. Once we had all finished our main and drink, our empty plates and drinks glasses sat on the table for a whole hour before we were able to catch a waitresses eye and ask for a dessert menu. She only cleared half the plates away and didn't come back with the dessert menu. We waited another 30 minutes before flagging the same waitress down, paying the bill and leaving. On the way out I spoke to the manager (Tristan), who very abruptly informed me he didn't have much time to talk to me and I'd have to wait until he was free if I wanted to discuss my experience. When he did give me a moment of his precious time, it was just to halfhearted listen to my criticism about the slow service and proclaim he vouched for his waitresses and that there had been no issue to our service. I explained we would've happily spent lots more money on more drinks and a dessert if we'd been given the chance, but we were ignored wholeheartedly by the servers. He seemed not the slightest bit concerned or apologetic, and said I should be able to see how busy it is (it wasn't) and that I should understand their situation (I didn't). I was under the illusion that the customer was always right, but in this case slow service and rude management are always right. I think 2 hours to eat a main course and one bottle of beer is a bit of a joke and that's a shame because the facilities and The Motorist themselves are brilliant.

The welcome, the food and the service were all excellent. A young man (Alex) seated us, was very friendly and informative and is a credit to the place. As I say the food was excellent and we will definitely call again. One thing stopped me...

So, if you don't know about the Arnage, you need to take a look. If you like cars, you HAVE to take a look. Brilliant atmosphere, awesome staff and clearly a very capable head chef!! The place is a little off the beaten track (A1) but it is definitely worth it! Prices are quite reasonable however, when your dish arrives, it's surprisingly top quality with nice subtle touches make a lovely meal exemplary. 100% going back so get to the back of the queue. 🙂

We arrived before the chef and then had to wait on excess of an hour before my Birthday lunch arrived . I felt sorry for the young lady working behind the bar and serving. No heat on pleased we had our coats on.

Had our engagement party here and absolutely couldn't fault it. Was left to our own devices with decorations and general set up, Tim and Jade were super laid back but happy to help when needed Plenty of options and really good service (even with larger groups) Thank you for allowing us to have such a special evening, highly recommend

Great service and lovely cosy decor, a nice place to go. It even has a play corner for the children and an activity sheet on their menu.
