It was a perfect stay here at Arisaig Hotel. The entire team was super friendly like I have never experienced anywhere else. The breakfast was very tasty and the food in the restaurant in the evening was just great and the best we had on our vacation here in Scotland. Arisaig is a small village that enchanted us. We will come back and of course to this hotel again. thanks to the entire hotel team.

Sunday Roast Perfection. Not often you have a place that merits 5 stars but the Sunday Roast Lunch here, it really is that good. If we've had better, including everywhere, we can't remember where. One of the other Diners thought you shouldn't have cauliflower cheese with it but for us, this perfect addition actually made it! Sprouting Broccoli, Roast Potatoes, Celeriac, the best, perfect Sirloin, a Yorkshire pudding, gravy and...the aforementioned perfect Cauliflower Cheese. £18 Really decent Merlot Red Wine at only £20 a bottle (we had two!) Has to be the best in the West Highlands, live music afterwards, utterly sublime. Go.

We had a lovely stay at the Arisaig Hotel on our way to Mallaig, the staff was really nice, we had a warm welcome. We had dinner at the restaurant which was kids friendly. The room was nice too, with a pleasant view and soft cosy beds (bunk beds for the kids ☺️☺️☺️). The breakfast was awesome with full scottish, a really nice view and friendly staff.

Very nice hotel, clean and quiet. Spacious room, only downside is a bathtub and not a shower, equipped with a shower head in the air and no hand shower. Good bedding. Copious unlimited breakfast. Well located not far from Mallaig for the ferry to Skye. Short walk around the city passing by the cemetery and the church and going down towards the museum (unfortunately closed when we arrived) By booking in advance you can also dine there and taste the traditional fish and chips and their typically Scottish dessert made with cream, oatmeal and raspberries, all accompanied by a good beer

UPDATE 2024: We revisited the hotel this year and sadly standards have dropped. The food menu is nowhere near as good as last year. The only vegan item on the menu was the unimaginative Moving Mountains burger which most pubs offer. I feel the to quality chef they used to have may have moved on. Good range of beers on tap still.. 2023 review: We didn't actually stay at the hotel but a nearby campsite and walked there a couple of afternoons for meals and drinks. This is a lovely place to visit with views across the bay. We weren't expecting much, being the only bar/pub for miles but the food and service was top-notch. Prices are fairly typical for pub-food but the quality is exceptional - it felt like a Michelin-star restaurant! We went for the vegan choices which were delicious. The staff were friendly, attentive and efficient. We'll definitely visit again when in the neighbourhood.

Advice to visitors: if you want a meal, you won't get one here. We went one night and were told "kitchen's closed". Fair enough, we thought. The next night, Saturday, we returned. The same person as on Friday said "kitchen's closed". Bit early - it was quarter to seven. Then a chef immediately came out the door with a dish of food. The staff member hastily added "Pre-booked guests only". You could've told us that yesterday! But we'd predicted this and phoned the hotel to try and pre-book a table five times that day, and each time it rang for a bit then went to voicemail. We also tried the website, but you couldn't book a table at all, no matter the time or day - everything came up as unbookable. They can't seem to really be bothered, which is a shame. This is an absolutely lovely part of the world. But if you want some chips at quarter to seven on a Saturday night, try somewhere else, won't you?

This place is what you'd expect for a very old hotel in the middle of nowhere on the Scottish Coast. The room was nice, modern, but a bit dated by today's standards. We had a delightful dinner & breakfast, both served by the same person. There's probably a small family that runs the place. Overall, if you're looking for a place to stay to get away to the Islands, this would be the place to do it.

Overnight stay 13-14 September 2003. Bedroom was small and side window overlooked the rubbish bins. Rustic charms of bar and dining area not to my taste and roaming dog didn't add to any aesthetics. Dinned sounded great on menu but hand cut chips looked like skin on fries out of the freezer, this miss representation together with a beautiful website is evidence to me that the hotel sets out to deceive. This is my opinion based on my stay.

We only visited the CROFTERS BAR this evening because we had read the reviews. Imagine our disappointment when we did not encounter unpleasant rude bar staff, I only came here for that experience. Instead we were greeted by helpful smiley staff, warm and welcoming. It was busy at 5.30pm, which really is a joy to see in a highland bar at this time of year, most of the ones that I frequent struggle to draw in many more than half a dozen at such an hour. I now understand why it was busy, the service was great, and the food was excellent. We were still in time to take advantage of the 5pm /6pm food happy hour, so we had a ridiculously large bowl of fresh mussels to share as a starter, followed by really nicely done fish n chips & a pie of the day from the evening menu. Thoroughly recommend the whole experience, but be prepared for disappointment if like me you came in hopeful expectation of some traditional rude service.

We came here on a friends trip up North. Visited the Highlands many times but this was the first time visiting this bar. We ate on Friday night and Saturday night. The food was lovely and very fresh. The mussels were amazing! I have had seafood all over the world and these mussels were at the very top! Like butter melting in the mouth. The fish and chips flaked off as it was cooked that well. This is a bar, so it can get busy. People complaining are obviously looking for a different experience. I would always book a table in advance for places like this to make sure i was not disappointed. There are not much places to eat locally and the food is sourced local so the prices are always going to reflect this. The staff were lovely to us, we were there all night and into the early hours. They really could not have been better. We will definitely be back again when we travel up North again 😁

2 nights at the Arisaig. Very friendly staff, enjoyed the restaurant both nights, breakfast was very good. Unfortunately, Sunday breakfast was marred by dueling dogs barking n the breakfast room. I mean, seriously??? Then one of the dogs went after a young boy and scared the devil out of him. Of course, the owners didn’t have any decency to remove their pets. Why the heck these animals need to bring their dogs everywhere?

Great tasting food but the front of house staff are shoddy. Rude to us when we arrived, no greeting and brought us the wrong drinks. The bar also poised the table next to us. Gentlemen informed the staff of his allergies to milk, tomatoes and gluten, they brought him food containing milk and tomatoes. After he had eaten half his meal one of the girls ran out and stopped him, he spat it out and seemed to be okay. They replaced the meal, but this time it contained tomatoes. Third time the meal came out fine. Total disregard for his safety and could of easily killed him if he had a more severe allergy. Would not recommend. The chef seems to be good, our food was great. But the front of house staff are total amateurs.

I arrived with my dog and despite having not booked they went out their way to get me a table. I chose the lemon asparagus risotto followed with chocolate fudge cake and both were amazing. I got talking to a male staff member and mentioned that I’d lost my purse, possibly during a difficult walk. He talked me out of heading back before dark for which I’m grateful for. I wasn’t looking forward to doing the walk again but thankfully I didn’t have to! After rechecking everywhere I found my purse down the side of the passenger seat!! What a relief! The only reason I’m mentioning this in my review is that I was asked to come back and let them know how I got on but as I left Arisaig for home before the restaurant was open again I couldn’t so I’m hoping they’ll see this review.

Staying at the bunkhouse on a rainy day in May, I reserved a table for a meal, understanding it had to be a few hours wait. Unfortunately although not busy was sat in the room off the bar which is basically the snug (not cosy!) /hotel lobby. All the specials had sold out, so opted for smoked mackerel pate, beetroot risotto and panne cotta. For £30 for a bar meal feel very overpriced. The mackerel pate was tasty but the beetroot risotto at £14 was over cooked and lacked flavour. The panne cotta was my favourite bit. Good drinks from the bar available. A shame I had to sit in the listless backroom. Service was ok, shame about rude local man at bar vocally complaining about tourists when we are spending our hard earned money in the area!!
