The Arbor House in Ipswich

We booked the Arbor for an 80th birthday celebration for around 30 people in their upstairs room recently, with a buffet menu. The arrangements went really well before the event and Georgie was really helpful. They took the cake in on the day, and put up the bunting and banner before we arrived. During the event they were attentive and kept the bottles of wine and water etc topped up. The food was excellent and perfect for the occasion. The cost was very reasonable for the food and drinks prices. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was large enough to accommodate us comfortably but was nice and cosy at the same time. Friday 15th November 2024 Tonight, we had a delicious pint of milk stout in this proper 2 floored real ale pub This well-used locals pub were mostly real ale drinkers. This pub had good staff tonight. A great CAMRA discount was given The 4 interesting hand pumped ales were the Icing on the cake When in Ipswich this pub is an essential visit for real ale drinkers

We popped into the Arbor House last night (8th November) before going to watch a film. My other half had a very good pint and I had an equally lovely glass of red wine. To be honest, I wasn't feeling the best, but the kindness of the girl behind the bar was outstanding. She gave me hot water for my lemsip and even offered to give me some to take away with me. Sometimes it's the little things in life that make the biggest difference. Thank you so much. You are a credit, and a star x

Found this delightful spot on Google maps as I was coming to see a show round the corner at Gallery Players. What an INCREDIBLE find! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed and the food (we had the salmon special - and I’m still talking about it today). This is FAR more than a quaint neighborhood pub (which of course love) - but this is a rustic, warm, welcoming spot where you have a wiz in the kitchen that tosses in their own brand of delicious gourmet and you come away thinking about your meal the entire train ride back to London and planning your next visit and hoping what you had this trip is on the menu then…because its SO good you would get on a train for 90 minutes each way to have it again. Might also travel out for a proper Sunday Roast as the server said they are fantastic- and I can only imagine! Excellent ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Late lunch in the middle of a day's walking with our dog who was welcome. Great range of beer and excellent food Even better was the music! Thoroughly recommend.

Had what may be the largest fish and chips I've ever had anywhere. Was outstanding. Service was extremely friendly, always asking if there was something they could help out with. Lots of local and craft beers in the fridge for patrons to peruse.

Top notch ale. Good grub too, and also great atmosphere. A pub that had tried hard for years is finally taking off against stiff local competition.

Great pint and selection of beers

Had a delicious chicken roast with calamari starter - ample portion sizes, good choice of drinks on draught as well. Georgi and her team were super welcoming. A cosy and friendly pub 😊

Great out of town centre pub. Never empty but also not so busy you can't talk to your companion. Love this place.

Food is great! I had a lamb burger which I never seem to find anywhere. The chippies were really tasty, like air fried and yummy! Drinks csn be a bit expensive but overall a lovely little pub

Great little pub, lovely atmosphere

Long time since i've been here, but I was impressed. A really nice vibe and some decent craft beers on keg. We didn’t have food but menu looked really nice and uncomplicated and I will definitely eat here in the future.

Great food and drink, as usual!

Really lovely dinner space, we came in and were served by two lovely bartenders. We sat upstairs which was really well decorated and had a great atmosphere. The food was amazing! They do not skimp on portion sizes at all and the food was delicious so we did not leave hungry! We had the double stacked burgers and I could not complain about anything.

This is a little gem of a pub. Always good real ales on handpump, a great selection of craft ales in the beer fridge and an interesting menu. The food is delicious and expertly cooked and presented, and I must add very good value for money.

Food was all excellent and generous portions (we tried several dishes preordered from the Christmas menu) and the upstairs room is very nice for dining. Very reasonable pricing. Would definitely go again. Only small area for improvement might be to provide a drinks menu and maybe a wine list (even if there are only 2 or 3 of each). Looking forward to our next visit.

First time visiting here,Ipswich Town had played at home so a few supporters after the game which was fine. The 4 of us all had food & drink,very good food for the money. They put on a few specials just before we ordered and one was a lasagne to my wife's delight. She was really impressed,I had the New York Burger and that was really nice & homemade chunky chips. We all enjoyed the food and atmosphere and will definitely return.

I have been here a lot, The About House is a wonderful pub/restaurant, the menu is pretty much what you would expect (good burgers, fish and chips etc) but the quality is outstanding and the execution exquisite. The Arbor House looks small, but there is plenty of space up stairs and in the small garden. In my view The Arbor House is a must do if you are in the area.

Lovely little pub easy walk from town centre. Friendly personnel & general atmosphere, four real ales (three found to be in good condition) and very nice food.

Drawn to visit The Arbor House due to the £10 menu option for some items where a drink was included. My companion very happy with the fish and chips ciabatta. I chose a lentil burger. Sorry to say it's was lacking in flavour and over dependence of oats to bind the burger. Tasted like porridge dough. But the chips were awesome. I will go again, but will choose something else. The table near us had fish n chips, that looked delicious. Bar person very friendly. Nice obiance.

Great local independent friendly pub with lovely staff and food, shout out to Morgan, Paul, Dan and team. We often eat here for lunch as dog friendly so great after walk in the park and also visits Saturday nights as have good live music. Fab burgers, amazing crunchy fish and chips. Reasonably priced drinks unlike some of the nearby pubs. If you haven’t been you defiantly should :-)

Lovely hidden pub/restaurant, delicious food, unfortunately first two choices of food were not in stock on a Saturday afternoon. That was a couple of years ago.. Went again Friday evening. please correct me if I'm wrong but not the most wheelchair friendly venue. If you have mobility difficulties it may be worth a quick call in case I am mistaken with the facilities. It really is a gem, lovely atmosphere, staff friendly and helpful. Good choice of beers and had all the food we ordered. Highly recommend, and will be going again

Nice local pub with a good choice of food

One of our ‘go to’ Sunday lunch venues in Ipswich. A delicious plateful of food, with lots of veggies and ample gravy. Always have to go home and have a nap afterwards though!

I had a Fabulous vegan Christmas meal with friends at the Arbor House. One of the best Christmas meals I've ever had out. My meat eating and veggie friends were well served too. The pub also offers its ordinary menu alongside it's Xmas menu .

Lovely 'off grid' pub right near the town centre. Well worth a visit. Great selection of good booze there. Give it a go. You'll like it.

We dropped in at this place not knowing what to expect. We grabbed a table in the garden and got lucky with a nice breeze. We ordered the chicken burger and the beef burger. The chicken was crispy, juicy and robust in flavor. The burger was moist, succulent and cooked to perfection. The service was prompt and friendly. We enjoyed the casual atmosphere and especially the outside seating.

Probably the best pub in Ipswich

Such a great Pub in Ipswich. The beer garden is lovely and secluded, you can enjoy the sun without huge crowds, unlike other pubs in the town centre. The food is always good, the small plates offer a great selection, and it always goes well with a pint.
