Went for lunch with friends phoned ahead to check they catered for Vegans , however the vegan choice is poor and made to feel it was an inconvenience. Ended up with mushrooms and tomato on toast they forgot the vegan cheese . Overall not a good experience best thing is they use The tea lab tea which is great .

We had afternoon tea here and thought it was the best we have had. Really good value for money and everything was home made. As someone who has a gluten free diet I usually get a very poor offering compared to someone on a regular diet. However, this is easily the best gluten free afternoon tea I have ever had. We had a jug of delicious elderflower presse which was gorgeous. On my tier, I had home made bread for my sandwiches (which was wonderful) and the most beautiful scone, quiche and, lemon and almond tart as well as other goodies. It was all absolutely delicious, and I highly recommend going there. The ambience is nice in the conservatory and we were left to enjoy it all and take as long as we wanted with refills of tea. I highly recommend it, It is much better than any hotel afternoon tea as it has a more personal touch, is great value and by eating here you are also supporting a local family run business. We will be returning!

Had an early appointment so thought we’d pop in for breakfast after. I have previously had lunch and coffee with friends here which has always been very enjoyable. The breakfast was not great. Scrambled egg on toast with very chewy toast and a vegetarian breakfast which was very over priced and of poor quality. We were the only customers so expected better, came away very disappointed. A customer lost I’m afraid.

Visited for the first time and it was a lovely surprise. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors including under in the covered terrace or the walled garden. We sat on the terrace. We just had coffees and cakes and I have to say it was really good to see so many Gluten Free options. Usually it’s a brownie or carrot cake but to have cakes and tarts to choose from made a pleasant change. I can heartily recommend the GF lemon and blackcurrant tart. We also bought a tart to take home. The main menu was extensive for breakfasts and lunches with plenty of local foods and sauces included. Afterwards we had a mooch in the shop and museum. I have lived in Northampton all my life and this was my first visit. It won’t be the last.

I love Jeyes, which is a sort of department store in miniature, plus tourist information and a local museum. This, though, was the first time I had eaten in the coffee shop. I chose a baked potato with cheddar, bacon and chutney. It was vast and generously heaped with fillings. The bacon was good quality, the cheddar tangy and creamy and the chutney was really delicious. It came with a very decent side-salad with a piquant dressing. Having eaten this substantial lunch, I almost regretted ordering a cake as well, but the lemon and lavender sponge I had ordered was light, fluffy and moist with fresh, zingy lemon flavouring and a subtle hint of fragrant lavender. The pot of tea was also good. The service in this coffee shop is courteous and brisk and the ambiance is bright and elegant - in atmosphere it struck me rather more like a traditional, slightly upmarket tea-room. A very pleasant lunch, doubtless to be repeated.

Visited at lunchtime on 2 June when it was extremely busy. Ordered at shortly after 1 o'clock and did not get served until 2.15. As my husband is diabetic I went to the counter to request service. The response was ungracious, equally the waitress who served our lunch. Had we not already paid for our meal we would have walked out. We won't be going back.

The quality of the coffee puts me off, very weak and willing and extremely small cups (although I don't like 'cups the size of buckets' which some establishments serve!) I like good food with no trimmings, ie no crisps, coleslaw etc. It's good for people with a sweet tooth as the cakes are big and look good if you like that sort of thing, but I like plain food cooked well. It more expensive than other cafes. Coffee is my passion and if it was good I would go more often for sure. We were five minutes late for the breakfasts and even though many meals were almost the same, we had to pay much more for the lunch menu.

I come to Jeyes fairly often with my family as it is local and friendly, but I tend to have the same dish time and time again, as the menu never changes, they only have 1 vegan option, and that is a breakfast only. So I will stick to the vegetarian options, but they all just involve cheese in some sort, there’s no variety, and real differences in the dishes. I am a little lactose intolerant so try to avoid too much dairy but it’s very difficult to do so here. The food that they do is very nice, they just need to have more variety and freshen up the menu occasionally to stop it from being stale. I have found that earls Barton as a location for eating is very much stuck in the past a little at the moment, it would be great to see this change.

I just wanted take away coffees: there was only a party of two sitting down. There were three people working at the counter but I was completely ignored. Finally a waitress walked by from the conservatory and offered to help me and took my order. The cash register was not working and that then became the priority. A fourth person came to help with the register but I had to ask if someone could please start making the drinks. I could easily have still paid and they could have put it in the cash register afterwards. Whole thing should have taken 5 minutes but ended up taking twenty two completely unnecessarily - shame.

The Apothocoffee Shop has all the makings of being a lovely experience. The ambience and decor - especially in the conservatory - is lovely. Unfortunately, the rest of our meal went rapidly downhill. They may be some mitigating factors in that we visited on a Saturday lunchtime, but nonetheless it took an age for our food to arrive and when it did my dish, simply a bowl of soup, failed to arrive and I had to return to the counter before there was any response. The soup itself, which was defined as Leek and Potato, was heavily flavoured with celery and contained some large pieces of potato which were difficut to manage. Our two other dishes looked attractive but the lasagne was lacking in seasoning and was very greasy. Overall, not the most pleasant experience and I would take some convincing to try it again.

I visited the coffee shop here a few years ago when it was on the other side of the chemist shop. I was a bit underwhelmed at that time and had not returned since. However, I decided to visit again with my mum and my 5 year old son and wow! What a difference! It has moved to the other side of the chemist, it is now on ground level so is buggy friendly (a thing that put me off before was having steps to the entrance, my son was in a buggy at that time). It is much more easily accessible. It is bright, fresh, with a cheerful atmosphere and has a good menu. The adjoining shop is delightful and a great place to shop for gifts for people. I loved the selection of traditional 'old' perfumes such as 'Yardley', that were for sale. Food was great, pleasant and cheerful staff. We will be back soon! A great makeover to the previous coffee shop!

Lovely setting but expensive and have had better for half the price. Nice starter of goats cheese, good quality beef, but over salted, Yorkshire puds so large but not tasty, salty veg but the real problem was the gravy thick, strong tasting, the meal would have be acceptable, the gravy helped to ruin it. Thought the roast banana sounded nice but wasn't roasted and only got three small slices of banana, if it had tasted good I would have felt really cheated. Really wouldn't return here, which is a shame as the setting was beautiful and the service good.

This place had high expectations, but completely failed to meet them. Lovely setting with a nice variety of food, but one of the worst places for customer service. Took 20 minutes for drinks to come out and a further 20 minutes for the food (bearing in mind we ordered juice, a latte, a quiche and toasties.) The quiche was completely forgotten about, and we received no apology for the incompetence. If your job is to serve food you should be able to do it! 4 employees took 40 minutes to make something that would be made in 5 minutes at home, and still had the cheek to charge almost £20! The food itself was mediocre but the carpet was dirty, and a woman came in with mouldy cake that she was sold. Appalling, would never recommend, and won't be going back there again.

A very rude young staff member then came over and said we couldn't sit there as it was reserved....I explained the sign wasnt clear and implied you could sit there if you wanted afternoon tea.... she abruptly told us she wouldn't possibly be able to fit us in on that day. We were given this- but it didn't work (couldn't push it down)- we asked for another one and were given a second one- no idea what was wrong with it but it wouldn't work either (we are proper coffee lovers so we do know our way round cafetieres :)) anyway my husband pushed it down and all the coffee spilled over absolutely everything- my white coat/ white shirt/ his shirt/ jumper, my face, everything was covered in coffee. My main concern was my clothes (expensive) so I wanted to go straight home to wash these- the waitress then asked whether we wanted to take our apple pie home with us- uh... no thanks!! the apathy from the waitress was laughable. We will never return- unless our clothes don't come out the wash clean- then we will be back to ask for compensation.

Visited today for afternoon tea...although the food was lovely the service and welcome when we arrived was poor. Despite having booked it seemed staff and the kitchen were unprepared as we were met with a surprised look on arrival and left waiting for over half an hour before our food arrived by which time we'd drank our tea/coffee.

My daughter had Lemon meringue pie, there was no taste, think they omitted the lemon flavour. I can't even remember what pud I had, it left very little impression at the time . We both had a drink each, as well as the poor puds & we were robbed of about £14

Cosy and comfortbale in the English tea shop tradition. Little to excite the culinary imagination, but it does exactly what it sets out to do with good service too.

I came here about 15 years ago and had completely forgotten about the place then something prompted my deep forgotten memory and I paid a visit with my mum last week. It was just how I remembered it, wonderful I'm so glad they have won best independent café for Northamptonshire because they so deserve it. The menu choice was excellent served on beautiful crockery, really tasty food. So nice to get some dressing on a salad instead of dried up leaves. Staff were lovely, I will definitely go back very soon, its not that far from Long Buckby where I live. We had visited a local well known garden centre and had intended on having lunch there but with a massive queue and a very noisy atmosphere we promptly left and I am so glad we did. The shop is a dream, I will tell all my friends be sure to give it a try. 10/10

I have been coming here on a fairly regular basis for the past year with my husband and little girl, and although the staff are friendly and polite and the food pretty good, the service has always remained very slow. This isn't a very large establishment, 10 tables max. and I have never found it at full capacity, so no reason for waiting so long for drinks and food each time. On my last visit, on 23rd April, my husband and myself took ourselves off for lunch here, and ordered our usual hot drinks and a jacket potato each. It took a member of staff 15 mins to advise us that they didn't have any potatoes left and would we like to order something else, so we ordered a toasted sandwich each, we hadn't received our drinks at this stage, 5 mins later drinks arrived. 45 mins after our arrival our food finally arrived both toasties were wrong, brown bread instead of white, so we said these were not what we ordered and the lady took them back saying our correct lunch will be with us in a few minutes! At this time we had been in the establishment an hour waiting for toasted sandwiches so we asked for our money back, at this time there were only 3 other tables occupied, so no excuse what-so-ever for such shoddy service. I have given this place chance after chance, but I have to say this was the last straw and we will not be returning. Such a shame.

Great pub, loads of beers and ciders, draft, bottled etc. Didn't eat but menu looked OK... Only downside was that the prices were a bit high in my opinion.

Lovely village pub, delicious food and great atmosphere. Not busy at all on a Saturday afternoon. Nice side of the pub for a quiet drink then the other side is more family and watching the sports.

We didn’t enjoy our steak. Never ate there again but nice place to stop for a quick pint… or two. 😂
