I think some more up-to-date photos would help. These pictures are from when The Angel was in the High St. They are now in the Civic Centre The breakfast is still as good as ever. The service and welcome are good and the food is still excellent Only one slight moan and that would be the price of a cup of coffee: £3.50 for a small cup is too expensive

We were greeted warmly by a lovely lady at the door who showed us to a seat. All the staff were so friendly and helpful especially with my mothers requirements. Every person that came through the door were greeted with a smile which was nice to see. The food was great and plenty of it. The only thing is I wished they had painted us to the special board before they took our order but it might be due to all the confusion we caused when we sat down. We definitely will be back again.

It's always busy which usually is a good sign. We had the Soup Duo which is a home made soup plus a small sandwich with the choice of any available feelings with salad and coleslow. The soup was very tasty and there was plenty of it. The sandwich made with fresh bread and high quality ingredients was lovely. The flavoured gingerbread latte was perfect. A short sojourn was had here while waiting for the train on a chilly winter day. This café isn’t that close to the train station [or main town bus stops for that matter] but all of these are somewhat exposed to the elements…It was a nice well-appointed attractive place to sit and watch the world go by with a nice fresh cup of coffee, or even a more extensive meal, but all too soon it was time to go and walk to the station. However, service was a trifle unhurried despite being three staff seemingly on duty. I suppose it takes time to prepare a fresh cup of coffee or pot of tea, but then most patrons might not be going off to catch a train [or bus]….

We popped in for lunch one Thursday, found a table easily and placed our order with the waitress. We then waited 1/2 an hour and had to ask if there was a problem with our order before being told that there was a wait, but tables that arrived after us had already been served food. I assume we had been forgotten, but not one person apologised for the wait. Its a shame as when the sandwiches eventually came, they were delicious along with the homemade red cabbage coleslaw. Visited the day of the Christmas street fayre. We weren't exactly made to feel welcome but as we had walked in during a very busy time I imagined it was just stressed staff. However they had managed to squeeze us in so long as we had eaten up and left within the hour which wasn't unreasonable, food was ok. However, as we went to pay up and leave, an elderly lady arrived alone and confused to be berated by the staff for arriving late for her table, the poor woman was mortified and had difficulty understanding the young girl. So another member of staff thought it useful to raise her voice assuming the lady was deaf and repeated what had been said beforehand. Other customers by this point, clearly feeling as awkward as myself and my sister had offered to give up their tables for the poor lady until the staff eventually made arrangements for her to stay. Feeling utterly disgusted and in a hurry to leave, I handed over my money at the till for the till girl to sneer at us "she's always late". Was appalled by this quite frankly having worked in a senior community care position, this was no way to manage the situation. What a way to treat your customers, perhaps if you are aware of this ladies constant lateness you can adjust her timings accordingly? If she continues to visit that is. I for one, won't be.

The first time I come here to eat I had the stack pancakes with bacon and scrambled egg. Today I had the eggs benedict. First time we didn't realise it was cash only and the lady was so lovely and said we could pop by later on in the day with the money and not to leave us short for the day. Love coming here.

We went here as a quick stop off on our way home from Suffolk, I thought I'd just have a tea but being me I picked the 1/2 cooked breakfast, I chose to have fried bread along with my scrumptious meal and I can safely say it was the best fried bread I've ever tasted, delicious and golden, other people in our party had cakes which looked delightful. The waitress was lovely, overall a lovely cute coffee shop.

Best fish and chips in Suffolk so far. We had haddock, chips, and peas. Huge portion, All very enjoyable, we will return from Ipswich.

We used to enjoy our outings to the Gladstone, but it has turned into a dirty, smelly and "clicky" place to eat or drink! Instead of being dog friendly it is more like a dog kennel - dogs annoy non-dog owners by licking them etc and sitting on the seating instead of under the tables. The seats and tables are dirty and the whole place is unhygienic - we will not return and will leave it to the arrogant dog owners who think everybody wants to be licked and dribbled on by their pets!

Really lovely little pub with local ales. Owned by a lovely lady and her super friendly team. They have a little shop too with lots of local goodies
