Absolutely delicious - great atmosphere and such a friendly pub

Ate here today after a family dog walk at Hartshill Hayes country park. The Sunday roast was the best I have eaten anywhere. Massive portions, wonderful selection of vegetables, extra gravy. Perfect! Will be visiting again when next in Nuneaton.

Gave it a go,but won't be back. Arrived 615, not busy about 6 tables with diners.already eating. Placed order for olives/bread and Garlic mushrooms and mains. Server ( very nice) came back Apologies neither available. Changed to brushetta ,just for one. We sat in the bar area,but quite a way from the bar stools. 3 extremely loud people were there. I like bar atmospheres but these were ridiculous. Several diners were turning round, obviously same opinion. We asked to move, no problem but was glad we could. They carried on the same, still loud but bearable from further away. My starter arrived,and surprisingly so did garlic mushrooms, she had been misinformed she said! Starters were fine very tasty. However: someone we took to be the manager ( when we arrived he was looking through obviously accounts at the table by us) and 5 others was served first with mains, having ordered after us. The only other diners by now were obviously related to them, looked similar and were chatting across the room. One was in full plaster and paint spattered work clothes. Our food eventually arrived. My chicken salad was a bowl full of iceberg lettuce, sprinkled with a few thin slices of onion,pepper and 3 cherry tomatoes cut in half,some cucumber and chunks of flabby tasteless chicken. The garlic bread I ordered as a side was dripping with grease, and not crispy. 9.95 and 3.00 respectively. Husbands burger served on a slate,usually OK but it was so narrow that food fell off it! The tiniest EVER pot of coleslaw, literally egg cup size. It was not pleasant. The best thing was the server, who was very nice. I tipped her in cash as didn't agree with service charge .

I booked a table for 12 people for a Sunday roast last minute for my rambling group...it did NOT disappoint! Nothing was too much bother for Vicky and the team 😀 (thank you!) This was one of the friendliest, most-welcoming pubs, and tastiest roasts I think we've ever had so bravo team 👏 We will look at what other rambles we can come back and do in the area just so we can dine with you again. Top shelf 👌

My Food was OK, peppercorn sauce was watery. My wife's Chicken pie was dry. Waitress looked miserable and needed some customer care training, or find another career? Would I return....yes for a Beer....no for a meal.

Much improved from when we 1st came here 4 years ago. Friendly staff, good food. Speak of service was good as well. Took the dog and they were made to feel very welcome. They even put food in take away containers so the dogs could eat. Will defenatly be back

Last minute decision to go out for a meal and first time at the anchor and from the first phone call to book our table till the moment we left we could not fault anything, service was great, food was lovely, my partner is celiac and they had a good selection of gluten free (even though they had had a very busy night and had ran out of some ingredients) they double checked before we ordered, assured us of separate fryer used etc without prompting and kept us updated of our order throughout. Will definitely visit again ☺️

Me and my partner went here for Sunday lunch we’ve already been twice before. The food was amazing, service was very efficient, fast and friendly. I’ve never seen a restaurant have a team that work so well together have a laugh but still being so professional. Honestly best place by far to go and eat. The atmosphere was just terrific.

Fantastic little gem, we stopped for dinner while in the area working. Wow service was great team are so friendly. Food was amazing and portions omg you wont’ leave hungry we had to take a doggy bag. Cosy little place with a friendly atmosphere we will be back!

Popped in here for a Sunday roast and wasn't disappointed. Food excellent value for money, very large portions. Staff all very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely visit again if we were in the area.

I don't go out for Sunday lunch, ever. Most places over or under cook everything so I don't bother. The Anchor however, best Sunday lunch I've ever had. They cook everything amazingly, service was great and attentive, atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Definitely my new go to place for dinner

Soooo good. We booked a table, last minute for valentine's day and so glad we did! The food was actually so so nice, we took photos 😂. All the staff were lovely, they offered our dog a water bowl as soon as we were sat and our baby was given lots of attention too. Highly recommend

Burger and chips was good. The faggits and mash was awful. You could pick up the blob of mash and it wouldn't bend, or break it was so dehydrated

We were met by a very pleasant young lady who showed us to our table. Spoilt for choice with the menu but choose the traditional Sunday roast. Must say the food was delicious with a good choice of meat garnished with a good selection of vegetables and the biggest yorkshire pudding I’ve seen. One of the best, will definitely return.

We stopped for some food on the way back from a day trip. The staff were really attentive and helpful (especially Vicky). We had some roast dinners and a kids meal which were all great. I’m dairy free and they were able to easily accommodate that and even had some vegan ice cream! Thanks, we’ll be back

The delivery driver was rude and belligerent. He didn’t press the buzzer to gain access to the building and we had to go outside and collect it. We explained that the resident was disabled and he said”so what”. The food was awful and undercooked.

Went first time very good and going back again

Went to there for a meal for my sons birthday. Everyone was very welcoming, the food was perfect - hot, tasty, fresh & well cooked, and the atmosphere was lovely. Most importantly they not only allow dogs but also made a big fuss of my sons dog. We will definitely be going again next time we go to visit my son!!

Popped in to the anchor today for some lunch tried out the 2 for £20 lunch time deal, was really nice and good size meals. Will be back again for sure thanks to Sophie for looking after us 😊

I'll start off with the positives. The food was nice. I came in for a Sunday roast and the portion size was perfect to allow space for a pudding. The problem was the lack of service. Waited 15 minutes with empty plates but wasn't offered the dessert menu. Proceeded to wait a further 30 minutes and then gave up. Paid the bill and left. Really disappointed as the service let the food down. ****Response to their response**** It wasn't busy in there, there were 4 tables of people and that's it. The dessert menu was on the little board but we could only glance at that from another table whilst the lad was drying cutlery. As mentioned, the food was let down by the service, or lack of.

in 8 years my time in England, this is the first time I really enjoyed a burger . delicious,very nice fries and very tasty burger . the bacon needs to be a but more cooked,but other than that,it was very tasty . coleslaw salad bowl was almost empty.

First time here, great food, the staff after they learned of an allergy that one of the party had, couldn't do enough for him, and kept us completely updated on food ingredients, and cooking methods. The staff were very attentive. Food delicious. Would definitely go back and would recommend a meal here

I arrived at the Anchor to a clean and friendly atmosphere, food was great and service was also very good. Will be returning…Hidden Gem that I alway think when driving past I’ll go there and see what it’s like. Today we did and we were not disappointed.

Sunday roast. I had the beef and gammon both beautifully cooked melt in mouth and a really good size aswell,plenty of veg and a very healthy size Yorkshire pudding just like your mam does it I just need to sit back now undo belt and sit back with a bit of 007 on TV

We stopped here as members of Britstops , lovely friendly staff from point of phone contact, through to their reception and obviously we took advantage of it being Sunday and had a delicious Sunday Roast. We then had a nice walk along the canal path. If you are coming via the canal we'd highly recommend you stop here.

DELICIOUS! We have sat in to have a roast at the anchor a few times and it’s been good every time, this is our first time having a delivered roast and it was just as good. Highly recommend :)

The staff are the Anchor Inn's biggest asset, so happy to see to your every need, they are hard working and have a great attitude. The food met expectations. The price is average for a pub restaurant meal. There is a beer garden that leads I to the canal so quite picturesque during summer. Decent sized car park off a main road between Nuneaton and Mancetter.

Huge thank you to all the staff at The Anchor Inn for going above and beyond to accommodate my little boys 1st Birthday this weekend. The food they provided us was excellent, and the marquee area they allowed us to use was perfect. Fantastic service from all the staff who were so welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. We cannot thank you all enough for allowing us to enjoy our boys special day.

Quite disappointed to be honest . Ordered 4 things from the menu for a birthday meal to be told they weren't available. Would have been nice to have been told when we called up to book 2 hours before that this was the case and they only had a few things available from the main menu . When we eventually picked our alternative we had the roast dinner pie again very disappointing I imagine it was meats from Sunday carvery as such mixed with watery gravy and peas with a puff pastry lid . Very bland and the veg that came with it was peas which were already in the pie . Sorry to say probably won't return .

After a long and tiring day on the canal we stopped at the Anchor despite having had a bad experience 4 years ago All I can say is WOW …friendly bar staff , great Ale (Wainwrights Amber) and top notch good Very reasonable price , great portions and quality This will now be a frequent stop Many many thanks Chris

We had to wait a long time for our meal and when the fish and chips came up, the batter wasn’t cooked. They were very nice about it and they gave us discount but it wasn’t what it had been advertised in TripAdvisor before.

Our visit was a week day lunch so a bit quiet. Food was excellent cooked from fresh but far too much of it!! Chicken burger was HUGE and the Tuna mayo sandwich was filled to overflowing. Therefore highly recommended but be prepared to end up with the remaining food to got in a takeaway box!!

The restaurant allows dogs to sit right by the tables, uncomfortably close to the food. This raises serious concerns about hygiene and the potential for parasites, making the dining experience both unsanitary and unappealing.

Stopped here for food and drinks on our way along the canal. So pleased we did. Easy mooring, incredible food and the staff are wonderful. There is also a very large sunny garden. Would recommend to anyone

A traditional canal side pub with good ale but also amazing food. I had the pork belly which cooked unexpected like they do in the Philippines. Crispy pata, if you know. Well done folks, in combination with the mustard mash, my new favourite pub dish.

Attended a wedding party there under the marquee and it was lovely. Plenty of room for over 100 people and a large garden area to for those wanting to get more fresh air. Don't be put off by the exterior of the pub .

Had a Sunday roast and it was excellent and the service was great too so I would definitely go again.

Spent £60 on 3 meals, £15 for a pukka pie and play-do mash thats been through the microwave, pie tasted like soap and was tiny, childs portion. 2 steaks, 1 rump 1 sirloin, not labelled so unsure which is which, soggy food not worth the price.

Sunday dinner is a must, fresh al dente vegetables, perfectly cooked meat, whole meal fresh and full of flavour. Staff are great and so is the food!

Used to always order sunday dinners from here never again, gone right downhill and meat portions are a joke …..

Food was not delivered, or not to us anyway. Due to non regular drivers, the only option was to contact Just Eat and request a refund. Left hungry and annoyed.

Had the lunch special 2x fish and chips nice food and more than enough food for price with 2 pints and a half shandy £31 and bonus we could moor up outside the pub

Sunday dinner generally very good - large portions, good variety of vegetables. Occasional blips, but no diffefent to any other pub.

Went for the charity bike Rallye, the serving staff where great, if the food served at the mobile catering stand they had is anything to go by then the food served on the restaurant will be amazing.

Ordered a 2 meat meal only got 1 meat! Veg was hard no cauliflower cheese Yorkshire was soggy mash was hard as a potato! Was actually nice last week so don’t know what happened to the chef causeiam guesses he died

Arrived without a booking on a Sunday bank holiday weekend having travelled up from Wales , staff helpful and fitted us in as it was pre booking preferable, food when it came was fabulous, tasted great and piping hot with a good choice of food on offer, if you want a lovely Sunday roast in a lovely atmosphere you can't go wrong than the Anchor Inn..will definitely be back

Called in for Sunday lunch today ( 11-2-24) The matradee John and his team in particular Abbie delivered a very professional service. Dressed in their corporate attire the team looked smart and in keeping with the character of the building. Abbie ensured we were happy throughout our meal and our needs were taken care of efficiently. Great Job John, Excellent service given. The food was a delight, the beef and gammon were cooked to perfection. The roast potatoes were the best I have had for a long time. Absolutely delicious. This establishment is highly recommend.

Stayed here in a campervan for a few weeks while my new house purchase was going through, it's hard standing with electric hookup for just £15 a night. During our time here we ate multiple times a week. I highly recommend the Sunday roast, and for the rest of the week I would either have the big brunch, a burger or the pork belly. All were very good.

Ordered three roast dinners. All three came poorly prepared. Yorkshire puddings should never left the kitchen badly burnt which you could smell the burnt smell. Vegetables carrots cauliflower cheese very undercooked. All three meals came cold aswell. Safe to say not happy with this order.

Nice, friendly pub with access to the canal through the pub garden, from where you can walk to Hartshill castle, which is surrounded by a bluebell wood where a young deer watched us struggle over the terrain. Plenty of parking and nice cheese and onion rolls served by friendly helpful staff.
