Absolutely shocking spa day. The spa was filthy and smelled bad. We were left just sitting around. I was then taken in for a treatment 5 minutes late and left to change for another 5 minutes. I was ready in seconds. The treatment lasted a total of 15 minutes and I was told they use a different oil as it was a voucher booking. We were treated like 2nd class citizens and this was a lovely gift as a leaving present. The decoration is so dated and just not maintained at all. I'm very very disappointed in the whole experience and I cannot believe this is a 4 star hotel. Awful

Friendly and attentive staff, lovely facilities and delicious food! We ended up staying here unexpectedly after being let down by another hotel and were sooo pleased that we ended up here. From when you first walk into the hotel to check out, we couldn't fault our experience. The free use of the spa facilities was amazing and the breakfast we superb. The food was hot and fresh, and there was such a large choice. The rooms are spacious and comfy and the grounds are lovely for a walk. Thank you for making what was a rubbish beginning to our weekend so lovely!

Booked through Wowcher as a birthday treat 4* hotel and 3 course DDB. Not without its charms and will not take a lot to put right but - Oh so disappointed - best go elsewhere for this price range. Upon checking in, I find the Wowcher has a different check out time, the reason why I decided to come here was for the last check out which would have allowed us to check out the local area and come back, use facilities, freshen up this was wrong. Had to change plans, not a good start. Also adding to the poor start, spa and swimming pool not open on the first day, this was omitted from booking but I am not sure if this is their or Wowchers fault, either way, should have been clear upon booking. Then we checked our room, upgrade from standard to a Superior King. Oh dear. We were put in the furthermost outpoint of the main building, which I like as I like to get my steps in, but was a little neglected area of the building. The room, best described as unloved, or more accurate as 'shabby', needs a bit of tlc, and I am a fan of the old world and am being polite. The Coffee maker as described in the upgraded room was an old battered kettle that has seen better days. Like for like Superior Rooms in 4* rooms these days you have a coffee pod or some other fancy device. Luckily the biscuits were nice or I would have said a more stern few words. This hotel is not a 4* by standard means, the room did not have any form of temperature control, radiator on full, window open to cool is not standard 4*. So during the night, as we were on the top floor, the heat from the building left us sweltering, radiator off, window open. This was on 1st Jan - 2nd Jan at -2oC conditions. The bed was however very comfortable and pillows the one redeeming feature of this room, not for aesthetics but really comfortable. The dinner for 2 was a set menu that was not on voucher description or explained upon checking in, as we already seen menu and knew what we were having; the set menu was disappointing. The food my partner was lovely, she had the fish, looked nice, I knew instantly I had food envy. Mine was a disaster and should not be represented in a 4* hotel restaurant, more of a fast food sports bar. The cheese & bacon burger should be avoided, priced at £18 on the regular menu it would struggle to rival a McDonalds and barely warm, chips cold. Luckily I ordered blue cheese sauce which was served barely at room temperature and minus the blue cheese - more hollandaise type sauce. We had to order additional sides orders as the portions were very small, despite being on the 3 course. I am not implying my partner and I are big eaters, but we did save ourselves all day for this 3 course meal and were disappointed. Luckily the Cauliflower gratin was nuked hot, normally I shun such methods but my food needed heating and this side plate was so hot it provided a much needed blast of radiation to heat up the "blue cheese" sauce. The prices of the bar were high, luckily poured well. I was worried when they struggled to open a bottle of beer with a bottle opener, thinking a pint of Guinness will be unmitigated disaster but as it is winter and that is a winter drink I ordered it anyway. I was relieved the pint was poured and served well, although with £8.50 for pint price tag, anything less would have been criminal. The spa is ok, nothing to shout home about, jacuzzi out of order or due a clean when I went. Actually, there was one problem - they had no clean towels to use except for hand towels. First time in a spa donning 2 hand towels to dry after a shower, not without its challenges, reminded me of being a student and I was impressed I could still rock this method of drying. The staff were out of their depth and require training but they are polite and keen to please. Exceptions and compliments to the breakfast team, organised, presentable, knowledgeable and very good. The choice was good, quality good and best of all for my partner who likes vegetarian sausages, they were amazing - high praise from her!

Shocking hotel . Can’t believe some of these recent reviews , we stayed one night and I’m grateful that was all we booked . Check in was fine , friendly staff and explained all the facilities to us . Once we found our rooms ( there’s a lot of rooms and easily confused with the numbering ) the problems began . The bed sheets had what looked like a blood stain on them , the toilet was not clean and there was some kind of bug in the dated shower . ( shower over the bath !! Shower curtain !! ) . Visited reception again and once more the staff were apologetic and caring so decided to show me two more rooms , the first room offered had again a dirty bathroom and toilet , suggested they look at there house keeping team , moved on to another offering and this was cleaner but not to the highest quality. Tea , coffee facilities are poor , no bottles of water in the rooms , bed was soft , radiator was cold very very dusty ( again a house keeping issue ) . Breakfast was over priced and of poor quality. This hotel isn’t TIRED it’s WORN OUT . Total refurbishment needed … Sorry no pictures.

The Hotel is huge. It has a big car park which is a little confusing as to where you are meant to park. The signs are not very well lit, so you need to be a little careful as you drive in. Not that it matters where you park. The reception was friendly and we found our room easily (although it began with 3 but was on the second floor!). My first impression was that the hotel looks a little tired. It needs a new carpet and a good lick of paint. Our room was a fair size. Well equipped. It could do with a few USB sockets or more sockets next to the bed. It had a big Smart TV, however, my TV was frequently interrupted by someone in a nearby room trying to connect to it via a screen cast. It would really help if each room had a note with the TV name on it so you attach to the one in your room and not someone else. The wifi in the room was reliable and fast clocking 30mbps. The bed was big and comfortable and the rooms were quiet. The shower wasn't the greatest for water pressure, but it wasn't bad. Breakfast was good with a standard buffet offering and it even has a heater for pancakes! The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I'd happily stay here again. :)

We stayed at this hotel for my partner’s birthday, hoping for a quiet and relaxing weekend away. Unfortunately, it was anything but. We upgraded to a superior room for more space, but this ended up being the root of the problem, as the room had a connecting door to the one next to ours. If you see this in your room, request a new one immediately. For most of the night, the couple next door was screaming bloody murder—what happened is really up to your imagination, but it was very clear it was something inappropriate. The noise was so intense that the walls were literally shaking, and we couldn’t sleep at all. We called reception multiple times but got no response. When we went down to the front desk ourselves, no one was there either. At checkout, we complained, and the manager said they were too busy to help the night before. We explained that we came here to relax, and we’ve stayed in much cheaper, soundproof hotels before. While we were offered a 20% discount for “next time,” I can assure you we won’t be returning. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and the night was absolutely outrageous.

We had a lovely stay at the Forest of Arden Hotel & Spa. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, and the thoughtful gesture of a welcome plate of desserts and a personalised note in our room for our anniversary made it even more special. The lobby had a lovely scent, which added to the welcoming atmosphere. We also made use of the pool, which was nice and refreshing. However, while we appreciated the hospitality, the room itself felt a bit dated, with some paint chipped off the walls. Additionally, we were disappointed that the bar near the lobby closed before midnight, leaving us with no other options to enjoy a drink. Room service also stopped at 10:30 pm, which limited our late-night choices. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, and we’d stay again and recommend it due to its close proximity to the city and the N.E.C. There’s room for improvement in the amenities and room maintenance.

Beautiful grounds but horrible housekeeping staff and service made me unwilling to overlook the dilapidated buildings. The reception area is cramped and the check in process was extremely slow even though it was not busy although the staff on the desk were friendly and polite. The reception toilets were beautiful and clean but thats the last compliment that I am able to give. The room was very far from reception and no one offered to help with our luggage and the deeper we got into the building the more poorly maintained it was. Walls looked dirty and scuffed, carpet well worn and tatty; and once we finally got to the room it was much of the same. Very old shower suite, old and rather beat up furniture missing the charm. We were so tired from travelling that we went straight to sleep then woke up late in the evening to find we couldn't get food delivered to the hotel so we booked a room at The Belfry near Sutton Coldfield instead. We left the room for breakfast the next day and realised someone had been through our stuff. We raised it with the staff but they were combative and we were already leaving and nothing seemed to be missing so we just left but months later the experience still leaves a bad taste.

Visited here over the weekend for a golf break with my friends. Both golf courses were in very good condition, the Arden much better than the Aylesford. Buggies are overpriced and so is everything else in the resort. The room was clean but had really uncomfortable pillows and mattresses. The food was ok for a buffet and the bar was rammed and expensive. The spa isn’t that great either. It felt the hotel and rooms haven’t had any money spent on them in years. If it wasn’t for the golf courses I would only give it 3 stars.

Excellent hotel for us in the Birmingham/Coventry area. Postcode is CV7 We attended a wedding reception in a large marquee laid out to the rear of the hotel so the staff for this event were excellent and nice. Good link to the main hotel. The rooms were excellent, well presented well stopped with toiletries, etc Bar staff and certain gents behind the bar were very rude, but mostly the staff were pleasant and very helpful. It’s a shame I have to give it. Stars had it not been for some of the rude staff it would’ve been five star. Breakfast in the morning had a lot of variety but to get an omelette had to wait 15 minutes. Some of the drinks behind the bar in the hotel or expensive but only to be expected. Jager bomb £9. Apparently, this is part of the Marriott resorts and has various golf courses and a golf Academy attached. Definitely will be using this again, even if I’m going to Birmingham and I can make a weekend of it I will use the Arden hotel.

We booked a spa break at the hotel. First time trying any spa break and it was very good. The hotel was at a good location. The grounds were well maintained with lots of pretty flowers. The check in was easy and we managed to check in earlier than expected which meant we didn't have leave things in our car to rush to spa treatment. The spa treatment place was quiet, seemed we were the only customers at the time. We had the full body massage and it was as expected. We then made use of the leisure facilities which included the gyms, swimming pool, sauna. The steam room was out of order. The changing room only had 1 space for people to get changed in private. They did have conditioner which most places wouldn't have. We then went for our dinner which was included in the package. It was busy but the service was below standard. We had to wait for so long for the waiting staff to take orders, and for the food to come out. It seemed they were short staffed considering the staff to table ratios. The food was delicious though. Really loved the salmon and the broccoli polonaise. The pastry pudding was also very nice. Finding the room and places were a bit difficult. The lifts were not working when we were there so had to walk 2 flights of stairs and then through long windy corridors to get from reception to our room and vice versa. Breakfast the next morning was excellent. Full English buffet and full continental. Lots of different choices of tea and coffee, juices. Check out was easy again. We wanted to walk around before we left but it looked like it was mainly for the golfers...so we left. We had a lovely stay and will consider coming back.

Dropped in for a bite to eat on a Saturday evening. Restaurant full so ended up in the bar area. Insufficient bar staff with some obviously having almost no experience making for a very slow and muddled bar service. Fortunately I was taken under tge wing of a gentleman by the name of something Thomas, who expedited my order. He seemed to have an eagle eye on the bar service activity, directing waiting staff to correct tables and generally smoothing over the rough edges of service. The speed of food arriving, once ordered, was exemplary and the waiting staff polite and friendly. The quality of food and flavour was top notch, it exceptional value for money. Although a satisfactory experience with very helpful staff, I doubt I will return as it was a rowdy crowd in the venue with voices becoming louder and louder. Which is a pity as the location and layout would indicate a calmer environment.

My husband and I had a romantic night away here last weekend and we had such a wonderful experience.  I have never had such a warm welcome and seen staff smile so much, from reception to the restaurant to the cleaners, nothing was too much trouble.  There was a wedding on that day and the restaurant was full for dinner but you wouldn’t have known as this didn’t affect the customer service we received, and the sound proofing must have been good as we didn’t hear anything of the wedding.  I was particularly impressed by breakfast as usually with a full restaurant staff would struggle to keep on top of replenishing food and other items but this was not the case at all, there was plenty of everything that we needed, and, as always, service with a smile.  We were really happy with the food for both dinner and breakfast.  Cocktails in the bar after dinner were delicious.  The room was great, very clean quiet and well furnished.  I liked that we could open the windows as I hate air con (very drying / noisy). I also liked that there was a mini soap and mini toiletries as so many hotels have moved onto larger dispensers now, and biscuits on the tea tray, another tradition that seems to be dying out.  This is a traditional hotel doing it properly and doing it well.  We were delighted with our stay.

We paid 209 for a one night stay and upgraded our room. The room was clean but very tired with ripped furniture and a very dated bathroom. Check in was non existent, simply given a key card. No explanation of where the room was and where bars spa and restaurant was located or the times of service or checkout time. This led to a maze of corridors to try and find our room but the worst aspect of our stay was the food. The starter was absolutely appalling, it wasn’t what we ordered and arrived with three lumps of unidentified battered blobs with a cup of chilli water. We ordered salmon for the main and unfortunately had to spell salmon to the staff member as they didn’t know what we meant. That arrived with the obligatory little basket of overcooked fries. Just really awful. We ordered a bottle of white wine, two glasses of rose arrived It is an extremely busy hotel to the detriment of service and quality. The bar was overflowing so struggled to find a seat and the staff were doing their best to cope but queues all the time. The spa area was nice and the staff in there friendly and helpful. This is nowhere near deserving of being a four star hotel. It appears the ethos is cram them in and charge them high. No attention to detail no nice touches no personal service and appalling food.

My business made a booking through Marriot for 2 rooms for a conference. The hotel was being taken over at the same time so when I arrived, I was told that the hotel had no booking for us. After a lot of time, the hotel said that they could book us in but we would have pay for rooms up front. I said that this was a business booking and Marriot had taken the business card details. The hotel said that this info was not transferred across. I asked if I could pay when I leave, I was refused this and I made to pay for the room upfront. My colleague joined me and the same thing happened to him. Neither of us we told anything about the facilities, dining or even pointed to our rooms. The room itself was very outdated and so was the whole hotel, i could see why this was no longer a Marriot hotel. At dinner, we were asked our room numbers but were then asked to pay for the meals at the end of the meal. I have never been to a hotel and asked to pay for everything up front and at no time did I feel that the hotel wanted to treat me as a guest. Will not be staying here again.

Such a poor planning and customer service. Stated 3pm check-in. And it’s a group booking. We travelled 5hrs all the way and waited another hour on the top at reception to check in. Check in started 4pm. It clearly shows your negligence and the attention you’re paying to your customers.

This was our first visit to this beautiful hotel. Its in a little rural area away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. Its around 15min drive away from Birmingham City centre. The staff are really lovely, I rang for a bucket of ice to be delivered to our room, and the connection on the phone cut off, a few minutes later one of the front desk receptionist knocked on our door to see if everything was ok, and if we needed anything. I have never experienced this in other hotels, they are very hospitable. The breakfast was lovely and really enjoyed it, the swimming pool is a bonus, it's just the right depth for adults to swim in and for kids also, just be aware they do have swimming lessons in the same pool also so there is a division. Overall can't fault this hotel. Would recommend for your getaway to Coventry or Birmingham 😊

At first glance this hotel was a dream, until I actually got there with a friend. To start off the hotel is exactly in the middle of nowhere, if you don't drive its at least a 10 minute Uber to leave the country club and get anywhere near civilisation. Our stay was particularly cold, it was -7°c outside, the old building (which felt like it was used to film The Shining movie) does not have air con and the single radiator was not enough to heat the room on the rare occasion it was actually working. The swimming pool is weirdly awkward to get to, and when we did eventually make our way in we were met with off-coloured water with a lovely touch of mucus film floating on top. Room service was equally as tragic and topped of the rest of the stay, disregarding the rude and cold attitude of the front desk staff, our drinks were forgotten for over an hour and when requested for a second time, took another 20 minutes to arrive to our room. (2 soft drinks.) Overall, overpriced and undermanaged.

Stayed for works Xmas do, the best meal we have had, food hot and fresh, very tasty. Lovely staff, started with warm welcome, but all staff friendly! Grate breakfast, loads of choice and they have a chef just doing omelets. We had ground floor room overlooking 1st tee, quiet, large comfortable room.

The hotel looks very tired (tatty old carpets) and in my opinion old fashioned. It was all OK but nothing special. From what I saw of the grounds, they looked nice but unfortunately, my bedroom overlooked the car park!

This hotel is in a lovely rural location but only approximately 20 minutes from centre of Birmingham. There is a lovely golf course and nice spa facilities. We had a lovely comfortable, clean room and this included breakfast which was amazing. There was everything you could think of available at breakfast and it all looked of good quality. We tried most items over the couple of days we were there and it was lovely, especially the freshly made omelettes. We had a snack in the bar restaurant called zest and this was good value for money and tasty. There is a cast iron grill restaurant too but we didn't use that facility. The pool, steam room and sauna were great and the changing rooms were clean. Unfortunately the jacuzzi was unavailable at the time we visited. This is a quality hotel and we will definitely be back. The staff were very helpful and cheerful. Highly recommended.

Spent a really nice night here. The hotel is a bit dated and need of a face lift. The staff were great, really friendly and attentive. Dinner was good but confusing, I think we had four different menus to choose from 🤪 the bar prices were way too high... £30 for two G&T and you couldn't even get peanuts! However the breakfast buffet was one of the best I've seen in the UK 👍🏼 The leisure facilities were good - pool, sauna & steam room but again showing signs of wear & tear (locker doors falling off their hinges, paint peeling etc). Overall, a really nice stay, we would go back but in Feb 24 it will no longer be in the Marriott chain 🙄😏 shame.

Had a lovely 5 night stay here in a family room with my wife & 2 kids. Room was spacious and well equipped. Reception, bar & restaurant staff were friendly and attentive- the standout was a guy called Rio. Kids loved the pool my minor quibble was the hot tub found have been a few degrees warmer. We’re not golfers but the course was stunning & most morning we witnessed 20 or so deer gathering there. Lots of things nearby & easy route in to Birmingham city centre. Felt all in all it was great value and I’d happily stay here again.

Well done to all the staff in the restaurant. Thank you Matthew and Chanini. The Arden course was better than the Aylesbury course. The Aylesbury being pretty noisy next to the road. Would definately go back there again.

We have just spent the weekend at this Hotel for my wifes Birthday. The hotel is beautiful with a good pool and sauna facility but what made it was the staff. They were truly outstanding with so many personal touches for her, including towels in the shape of a cake to get things started. Special mention to Sogand and Matthew who were superb and their teams, Avani, Aslam, Ajith, Ajay, Sachin, Megham, Kally and Lawrena. We will certainly be revisiting. Thank you.

We chose Delta Hotel by Marriott Forest of Arden Country Club to spend a very pleasant weekend. It was an excellent decision. The journey through a small forest was very interesting. We reached the reception around 1 am and confirmed the pre-reserved room. We received a warm welcome and support from there. The room we got was quite good. It was an old style constructed bedroom. Breakfast was included in the package. What needs to be mentioned is the behavior of the restaurant (Cast Iron Bar&Grill) manager Mathew and assistant manager Aslam towards the customers. They were so humble and ready to help the customers to get a comfortable environment. And their team members are also to be commended. The food was fresh and delocious. The buffet option is also available from 6pm on every Saturdays. Plenty of facilities like spa treatment, swimming pool, steam bath, hot bath, jacuzzi, golf course site seeing etc is available here for those who want to enjoy their holidays. We had a wonderful time here. We really enjoyed our stay. A must visit place for families and couples.

A really depressing, tired hotel that is clearly trading on its grounds and golf course. I had the unfortunate displeasure of staying here for one evening and it was one night too long. Whilst the grounds are lovely and I am sure the golf course is a big draw the actual hotel accommodation is tired, depressing and falling apart (see photos). If you weren’t depressed before you arrived you will be when you see the rooms. The communal areas have seen better days with rustic (rough) internally rendered walls, threadbare carpets, peeling wallpaper, a broken lift and PVC leather look chairs that are worn out or knocked about. The staff were very pleasant but you can see that they look dead behind the eyes having to work in an environment that would knock the enthusiasm out of the most optimistic of team members….I hope the Marriott Group take a long hard look at this review and take action….just make sure you’re not staying on the third floor as I was with luggage, as the lift doesn’t work and you’ll have to do the walk of shame to your 80s artexed room! Shame on you Marriott Group, maybe your aptly named hotel “Delta” is directly related to the best and worst of your hotels…this one firmly in the latter of the two…

Stayed here for 2 nights to celebrate birthdays for my wife and parents which are all around the same time. I've dropped 2 stars for the following reasons: 1 Lack of recognition for elite members: As a Titanium Elite member (recently demoted from Ambassador), I have high expectations on how I'm treated and perks (based on stays at other Bonvoy hotels). A big reason I choose to book Marriott Bonvoy hotels is that I leave the hotel feeling special. Sadly my expectations were not met on this occasion due to: - no free drinks or snacks offered in lieu of no lounge. Other hotels have offered these and one even offered a free dinner for my wife and me. - although the hotel made some efforts to leave nice treats in rooms for the birthdays, they were addressed incorrectly to me (rather than others) and some gifts were forgotten about. - no food/drink discounts offered for elite members. - I was advised my rooms were upgraded but noticed one had a fridge and the other didn't. - Inconsistency from staff on free room water. Some were happy to give others told me they couldn't. Not great during the heatwave. - I felt I had to ask for some of my perks which was a bit uncomfortable. - With the above said, I would like to thank Matthew and William in the restaurant who did try their best in looking after me and my family during our stay. 2 Facilities and service could be better: - No AC in the rooms which was really uncomfortable this week due to high temperatures. - Water fountain in the pool area didn't work, not great if you enjoy the sauna and steam room and need water. - Rooms and the hallway look a little tired compared to other Delta hotels I've stayed at. - I found at least 2 spiders in my room upon entry. - I found the food menu overpriced with an optional service charge added by default, I would prefer the option of adding this on myself. - No lounge

Booked a package for myself and my dad. The package included lunch, a treatment, and use of the spa facilities. The location is beautiful, and the venue is huge. Staff were all really pleasant and helpful. We had a neck, back, and shoulder massage, which was brilliant. We had a sandwich and chips for lunch in the Zest restaurant. Food was nice and portions were generous. There were a lot of stairs to get to the treatment rooms, but that would be the only complaint!
