Only went for food an to talk about a wedding venue. Booking only and no where else to eat apart from outside. No signs or anythink. So that's a big miss. Shame!

I recently visited this pub and had a truly disappointing experience. From start to finish, the meal was a disaster. For starters, I had a dish that was completely tasteless. It didn't have any flavor at all, and the side salad that came with it was equally bland, lacking any seasoning or dressing. It felt like they didn't even try. The main course was just as bad. I ordered fish and chips, and it was awful. The batter was hard as a rock, the fish was overcooked and dry, and the mushy peas were a joke – they were hard and flavorless. My partner's meal was no better. They had a pie that was also completely tasteless, and once again, the vegetables had no seasoning, and the mash potato tasted almost like it had gone off. It's as if they forgot the basic concept of seasoning and flavor. Overall, the whole meal was disappointing. I would not recommend this pub for a family meal out and I would the suggest the owner have a serious look into what they’re serving for them prices.

Food was really nice. Reasonably priced with set 2 and 3 course prices. We were in a big group and staff were very helpful. The outdoor play area is a big bonus when out with kids.

Hats off to this place ❤️ well done chefs 👌 Coming from someone who works in the industry its not often you see "home made or made in house" on the signs and the food actually be that. Could tell even the crispy chicken was battered & fried in house. Throughly enjoyed our food, proper good pub grub with that little bit of extra love. Keep it up, we will be returning ❤️ Front of house staff where also lovely. The desert selection was stunning! Thank you 😋

We love this place, especially in good weather! Really good home cooked food, the sort you expect from a country pub and the garden space is fantastic. Loads of tables with some on the patio and more under a marquee. Playground for the kids, which has recently had an extra bit added to it.

This is a great place to enjoy a good meal and drinks. The outside space is perfect for these summer evenings. Food and service were spot on! ✅️ Plenty of parking available if afew of you are meeting up.

Our recent visit for a light lunch was very disappointing, the first pint of beer was served to the table and was very cloudy. After leaving it for a while it did not clear and taking back to the bar, the barman knew nothing about beers, but he did replace it with a different beer. The shared starter was poor and needed to be returned because I was dry and burned, the replacement was perfect. Overall a poor experience, both the beer and the food have declined in quality compared to our previous visits.

Really good food, and nice to sit out in the beer garden on a sunny day. It is pricey for both food and drinks, but nice for a treat occasionally

Great pub and great food but the drinks are VERY EXPENSIVE!! £23.40 for 2 pints of lager ,half of lager and lime,a prosecco and half of orange squash! Still great staff and ambience and superb service. It was packed and I can see why. A great family pub and very customer oriented!

Birthday family meal waited over an hour for our main meal , when it arrived it was nice , my daughter asked for a birthday cake to be presented at the table for her dad's birthday had to ask the waitress where it was , service was well below average , won't be visiting again anytime soon .

Food amazing staff friendly and polite

Great place to go for a beer garden and kids play area outside. You can chill on one of. The outside tables and just let your kids play around a nice play area and great grassy field. Then head inside for a nice ambience and good pub food.

Great experience as we had dined at the Red lion for years with parents that lived in Meriden.We’d often go for food at the Red Lion .But it had gone down so for a few years we hadn’t been.But this weekend nine of us plus grandchildren went and the food was delicious and great portions in fact big portions.The waitresses were great food was brought when we wanted and all in good times .We Will from now on will be back as our grandchildren loved their food and of course the great gardens .Definitely upped their game well done The Red Lion.

Food is pricey but always tastes lovely and the service is brilliant I lovely country pub with a children's play area and very big outdoor area

Incredibly rude staff when spoken to very calmly about a matter of ID. Started slamming the drinks and shaking her head and whispering to other staff members in front of us.

If you hire rude staff, you will end up getting a very poor service

2nd visit to The red lion. Both times the food has been excellent but on both occasions the service has not matched. On our first visit we were part of a larger table so put the slow service down to that. On our 2nd visit (4th May) we waited a long time at the "wait to be seated sign". Countless members of staff walked by without even acknowledging us. I understand they were busy taking drinks etc but a little " someone will be with your shortly" wouldn't go amiss. A lady (tall) finally came and greeted us. She was chewing gum wasn't very professional!! There was no cutlery on the table and the lady advised that they had run out and that she would bring some over. She didn't and we had to ask again when out food arrived.Order was taken quickly and the mains did come out in good time. As I said before the food was delicious and hot. We asked for dessert menus and they took a while to arrive. We then waited 25 minutes for someone to take our order but we ended up having to get up and ask someone. Dessert came out quickly and were nice. No came to clear our plates or ask us if we wanted anything else. Another 20 minutes past still no one. We ended up going to the bar to pay. This place has the potential to be amazing if staff were trained to be more attentive.

First time coming to the red lion after my mother had a good meal the other week and it lived up to the mark, arrived around 2 o'clock in the afternoon and it was fully booked but the waitress managed to find us a table, the food was all fresh and cooked to a really good standard will be returning in the future months

It started off well nice welcome lovely food albeit it was only burger & chips…but very nice! After we had finished the meal it all seemed to go down hill. Waited for someone to come and clear the table and offer desserts. Sat chatting for a while but nothing…they forgot about us. The two members of staff seemed to be rearranging tables at the other side of the restaurant. So we decided to forget the desserts and went over and asked for the bill!

Nice old fashioned pub with a quirky snug and nice ambiance. Pleasant bar maid, only one real ale available.

Food is delicious, we have never had a bad meal. Staff are lovely, polite and very helpful. I often ask for a meal that is not on the normal menu and they are always willing to oblige. Fantastic place, wouldn't go anywhere else!! Recommend to everyone I can.

Dropped in for meal on way home early evening, were shown to a table right by the log burning stove and asked for our drinks order shortly after, we booked our meals at same time. Drinks came straight away and the food soon after. We asked for tapwater which came straight away. The two young waitresses were very polite, and attentive. We enjoyed our mains, and both found the portions generous. Would fully recommend this establishment there are generous outdoor seating areas too for the summer days we are all looking forward to.

Lovely food everytime we have been and always welcoming.

Would have been a 5 across the board, but the sweets weren't a winner. Their meals were lovely, but their puddings let them down. We will return again, but won't be having any puddings. The staff here are amazing and so helpful... nothing is too much trouble for them.

Had Sunday roast lunch and drinks with my son and his girlfriend for my birthday celebration.

Food ok in general, liver was very dry and over cooked. Mash potatoes were luke warm and lumpy. Steak looked gristly, not sure I would repeat the experience. I was there for my Grandsons 21st Birthday, I had driven for 2 hours to visit him and take him out for lunch, along with my Daughter and my youngest Grandson.

Very accommodating, friendly and relaxed pub and great place to eat. We had a dilemma beforehand and the staff kept the table open for us. The menu has a range of dishes and there is a specials board too. We had a fabulous evening.

Relaxing lunch at a welcoming pub. I had the sweet chilli salmon with new potatoes and veg. Can have chips instead. Friendly staff with a varied music track and important to me, not too loud so you can talk without shouting. Husband enjoyed his chicken and leek l pue. Both meals freshly cooked so there's a little wait. Drinks served straightaway. Been a few times over the years and it hasn't disappointed.

Great beautiful little pub great outdoor area for nicer weather we visited at xmas , cold raining the service was good the girls were lovely friendly only complaint was the menu and bill you had set menu or you could mix it up with normal menu aswell but no prices explained so my burger would have cost me £35 , £35 for a burger chips and home made coleslaw yes slightly over priced but as I'd started on the smaller menu they charged me normal price confusing....yes and the bloody back door proped open it was freezing 🥶

Went for family Christmas meal. Food was great, service was great and the atmosphere was good. Would definitely recommend.

Generous portions of food. Had the Camembert sharing starter which came with more bread than you could shake a French stick at, and the steak and ale pie for mains. Good service and reasonably priced.

Had heard good reports about this place and they are all true. The food was excellent and great value for money. First time we have been here and it won't be our last top marks to the chef and all the staff 👍

Food was fantastic but we walked in to the empty restaurant and got sat in the walkway to the garden we had people walking past with bowls of dog water and back and forth to the bar sat in a cold breeze as the door was left open. We had to eventually go to the bar to pay for our meal as we got cheesed off with waiting for someone to ask for the bill. It was quite disappointing as all other times I've visited its been great and I had really talked it up to my girlfriend not sure I will return after that experience

Had an absolutely horrific experience here. We paid very good money for the food, we had to pay first and was offered no refund what so ever. All of our chips were still frozen on every meal. We ordered one medium rare steak and it came out burnt to a crisp. The peas were still frozen, absolute waste of time, we left starving and got a McDonald's which was ten times better. Will never be back sorry.

Excellent service and great food

Having booked with one of our children in the group having a peanut allergy the staff went above and beyond checking all products and some. Absolutely brilliant. The food was delicious especially the belly pork and salmon 😋

A really nice varied menu with something for everyone,a real service with a smile attitude where nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Good quality food with nice portion sizes, our group five all thoroughly enjoyed the food. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

We went at lunch time, we were sat at the table and given menus, we were forgot about for a while then server came and took our order and arranged drinks. I ordered the smothered rump, my wife ordered lasagna, she said her lasagna was nice. The rump steak was ok chips chunky but a little dry in the middle. We drank our drinks but wasn't offered anymore drinks or asked how our meal was. I called a server on her way past and asked for more drinks and the pudding menu. Pudding was nice I had chocolate fudge cake. Feedback There is like a staff room/ server corner at the back of the dining area, staff stand around and have breaks there. They have their bags and personal items in the area aswell. Couldn't a staff room be provided for servers? Servers quickly walk past with plates and orders but didn't check in on guests. Lots of people.had empty glasses, this is not only missed revenue opportunity but it also makes guests feel special when they are asked if they want another drink or if they need anything.

We went there for first time for a family meal. We ate we drank and had puddings. No fault could be found. Lots to choose from. Very nice decor and staff were polite and friendly

Well well well...where do I start food was meh and the service was even worse lippy Louise had become infamous in our family for her rude attitude and tendencies to gobble up my chips on the way out from the kitchen #didnotslay and watch that temper

I write this with some regret because I would always recommend this pub to any looking for a good meal with good service. Unfortunately this is no longer the case. My last visit was a Sunday at 1600. You’d have thought that the peak for diners was tailing off and seemed to feel that way as the room was not full or felt crowded. At first our mains come out wrong and it wasn’t until 1715 until our meal was served to us, over an hour wait for food is not acceptable. Our children wanting dessert we were told we are welcome to stay for our dessert but would need to move us for a booking… excuse me it wasn’t my fault you took an age serving us. We ended up with dessert bagged up to take home and still charged full price for it. I’m sorry to say given the prices they charge you'd expect good service and good food but along with delays it was lacking in all areas. I’m sorry to say they’ve lost a customer, I’m not likely to return anytime soon and for anyone reading this I’d recommend the same… look elsewhere.

Not a great menu, very expensive. £20 for belly pork that was just fat! Haddock was full of bones. Dirty and uncomfortable seats. Also drinks very dear

Great pub on the outskirts of the city. Nice big beer garden with loads of benches. Nice wooden play area although my daughter's liked the big swings there which from our last visit are not there any more and hope they will be back in the future.

Lovely meal, service was a bit slow and they missed a meal off so one person had to wait until the rest of us were at least half way through our meals. Very noisy too. Overall enjoyable though

A party of 7 tonight had to wait over an hour for food to be delivered that's after us chasing it with 2 different people was never asked if we needed any extra like vinegar ect and was never asked how the food was from start to finish going by the severely hot plates I believe the food had proberly been standing for some time especially the rare steak 🥩

The outdoor area is perfect, lots of tables and space for dogs and children. The food is good but nothing amazing I'm afraid. Perfect place for a beer in the garden, location is remote but spot on for a sunny day. Staff are always polite and helpful.

The Guinness and steak pie is absolutely spot on, staff are lovely. Great spot for a summer drink. Massive garden with lots of seating.

Matriarch birthday lunch. Beautiful tasty food. Varied menu. Great service. Loved the way that our tables were laid out-in a u shape as opposed to long straight table where you can't see/chat with anyone apart from those on either side of you. Enjoyed by all. Well done!
