Looking for something to eat at about 5pm on a Tuesday, this was the only pub close by we found that did all day food as we had a ferry to catch. On entering the pub we found a good table and ordered food, one of the bar staff, female, did not smile and actually upset our friend with her unfriendly attitude BUT this did not make the food experience any less than perfect. We had the soup special, Cauliflower, Cheese and Bacon, WOW, amazing, the best soup we have ever had, I had the Chilli Con Carne next and again WOW, really tasty, plenty of it, the rice was lovely and having a few nachos was a nice touch. A good portion size. My hubby had the Thai Beef curry, excellent. Our friend had the Liver and bacon, huge portion and by his account tasty. Our overall experience was good but the staff could be a bit more friendly, when you're on a day out and at the end of it you want to have a nice meal, a bit of welcome warmth from the staff makes a big difference. We come over to the I.O.W only twice a year and we would like to return to this Inn even though it will be out of our way.

the anchor inn is a typical english pub.The staff are friendly and efficient.Free wi-fi is available which was a good service to provide for customers. The menu was varied, choices to suit every taste including kids.Portions were also hearty enough for even the big eater.Prices very reasonable.Good choice of beers.I would highly recommend the rump steak, cooked to my liking. My wife also liked the cheeseburger,kids(4) loved their food also.In fact we all liked the food so much that during our seven days holiday we had our dinner three times. This restaurant deserves 5 stars. If we return on holiday would go back no problem.

I approve of the Rully. Small shop, but seems to be a nice selection. Hoping to see some more white burgundy’s, although I understand it’s a small place so that’s probably not their top priority.

Pick up easy. You prebook a time and pick up at the kerb. Food well packed to stay warm generous portions. Chocolate dipping sauce is to die for. Will miss this takeaway so much and I just want to say again good luck in your adventures on the mainland.
