The brothers here are so nice, I had one scollop and I've been addicted ever since, so good and crispy, such lovely warm service you can't go wrong!

Served a reheated porion of burnt chips which I paid 3.90 for and all he say when I rang was sorry . He served the man in front the same . I think its appalling had to throw them in the bin .

Th food was really good and the staff had an excellent attitude. Our food took no time to come and I will definitely be visiting agai.

Just got evening tea cod and chips very disappointed the chips were dry like they were from lunchtime and cod batter was so thin tasteless not crisp not very tasty at all leaves a not nice after taste and for the money they charge very poor

Best halloumi burger in Watford! Lovely with chilli sauce. Old skool chips too. Proper portions and prompt delivery. Vegetarian samosas are lush and only £1.00 each! If I fancy 'fat chips and a dirty vege burger' then the Anchor Chip Shop is my 'go to.' 👑

Ordered a delivery for Mixed Shish Large. They missed the Doner kebab but when I called the takeaway, they were apologetic and sent the missing item very quickly. The Doner was still host and fresh and the delivery driver was very prompt and friendly. Overall decent food and good delivery time. I will definitely order from there again.

Unfortunately today's order was bad firstly we received the wrong order, then the driver came back, and my order missed a few items and was small instead of large, this is a new complaint as Anchor were always very good are there new owners?

I come here often since its near my house. No idea what the delivery is like so no input on that, but the food and service has always been lovely. Very accommodating, nice to talk to, and a place to sit while you wait. Food is made in front of you. I always get the curly fries and theyre fried fresh. Overall really nice.

Lovely fresh, good tasting & great size portions. Delivery can be a tad longer because of the shops location and loading availability on a densely parked, residential street. If you factor this in at busy times then you will be impressed.

Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. These guys will get the order completely wrong, drench the chips in vinegar and salt not to mention how cold they are. The kebabs we had were thrown in the bin as the meat was cold and greasy. If your looking for some good place to go this is not the vibe ⚠️⚠️⚠️

Horrible tasteless cold late food cold old bad small portion chips if u would call it a portion as it appears they were left old scraps with the worst curry sauce I've ever eaten far too sweet extremely thick more too much batter on sausage Thought I would give them a chance to see if they had improved nope even wrose than they were 5months ago so if the score could be no stars I would happily give them no stars as food was stone cold an a hr past delivery time remarkably for being 10mins down the road with poor custom after calling 3 times with no answer to resolving order being later then ordered and curry sauce extremely think an no flavor timing dreadful an pricing not worth the quality an standard of food received I will give more better local businesses my custom never will I order again

Hot. On time and amazing portions. Ordered a superior and it was the best kebab I've had in a very long time. Highly recommended

Great value fish and chips. I had a large cod and chips. The chips were OK and the cod was cooked well. The portion was small but the meal came at good price.

Ordered with Deliveroo and was told one hour delivery - after 90minutes I called and was told it was on its way, a 5 minute journey. When I called back 20mins later to enquire they hung up and continued to do so each time I called. Avoid at all costs.

The chips are tasteless. It’s like eating warm cardboard cooked in old oil. Do the staff or at least management not taste the product? Is it just a case of margins and cheap wholesale prices?

Food quality is terrible. Fish was dry & tasteless, like eating sawdust. Chips were terrible, mass produced out of a box & just bad. I felt really sick after eating a small amount so I think my fish must have been sitting in the heater for days. Also who doesn't take card in 2021?

We have been getting takeaways from the anchor for the last 30 odd years. There have been a few changes of ownership in that time. Over the last few years we have always had great cod from there…Until today! The fish was practically inedible, dry and tasteless, and the batter was so hard, apart from having trouble getting a knife through it, if you weren’t careful you could have broken a tooth! This fish had clearly been sitting In the warmer for hours. The only place it was fit for was the bin! Has really put us off getting food from there again now! Money down the drain!! If I could give no stars I would!

I've had better fish and chips but this place is pretty decent. It's got fresh fish with good fries, not special by any means but if you like traditional, go for it!

I'm gonna give a 2 star because the food is really nice but regarding delivery it's most probably the worse I've had in Watford. I've lost count on how many 2 hour deliveries I've had and to top it off with a final insult the delivery driver gave my food to someone else and I'm arguing with him down the phone over this which in the end we solved by simply receiving my refund back and never ordering for these jokers again

Batter on the cod was soggy and the chips are hard and dry and tasteless cardboard like The worst chip shop I have been to in watford Have ordered 3 times to give these guys a chance but tonight's food was appalling. Dont waste your time with this place. Never again

Poor service, food turned up wrong and over an hour and a half late when we was told 20mins as they weren't busy. The sauces were spilt all over the bag and the Delivery driver was rude! Luckily we have now tried the manual plus opposite which is superb, the quality of food is outstanding and the service was great, highly recommended. Definitely not be ordering anything from the anchor ever again!

Enjoyed a lovely cod and chips , which was delivered nice and hot , would recommend . Really enjoyed .

Missing items off order. Waiting an hour now for redelivery whilst the rest of the food goes cold. Could have had a repeat customer here but lied to about driver timescales.

Ordered online ,really enjoyed the food , the cod was excellent would recommend . Delivery was on time also .

Do not order from this place if you want a fast delivery. I made the mistake of ordering from this place twice and both times the food took over an hour to arrive. I ordered this evening and it took 1.5 hours to arrive. I don't think this was the fault of the delivery driver, it's the fault of the restaurant. If you call them on the phone they blame their driver or blame road closures. AVOID.

Without dought the best chilli sauce I have ever had .. mint flavour smooth and very hot I regularly buy a bottle for home outstanding .. the donor meat isn't bad either not that I can taste it actress covering it in the heavenly red stuff yum yum

The fish and chips are great, cooked perfectly and tasty, I haven't tried the kebab or the berger but if the fish and chips are anything to go by I would say they would be great as well. They also have a delivery service. Worth a visit. Enjoy.

They have gone worst with the time. Please don't visit. Many other near by options also available.

Delivery timing is so wrong 45mins to 50mins then to wait an extra 20mins and food still doesn't turn up!

Poor customer service. Poor quality. Missing items. Took 75 minutes to deliver my food. Driver explained they also put wrong address on ticket. Called to complain got told that potatoes are a funny colour due to season and lack of potatoes. Was also told i should come down and be shown how they cook the chips as i clearly cant comprehend this. Food was cold and I was told that if i want a refund i should wait for driver to collect the food and only then would they giveme a refund. Hilarious and an absoloute joke. Have made a point of making sure we never order from here again!

Nice place, the prices are reasonable and the staff seem nice. the only issue would be the portion sizes on the chips, the medium and small look the same and the large isnt much bigger.

Can’t deny I enjoyed my food, but my other half called to complain, got told he’d receive a replacement, then got another call basically retracting that on the statement that the person who put chilli sauce in his dinner had denied doing so. Because people have never lied or done something in error. He was happy to return the one these guys denied they bodged - he hasn’t binned it yet just in case - but in the end the verdict is this company doesn’t believe in good customer service, have kept his money despite not giving him what he asked for, and make excuses for their incompetence.

Use the Anchor on a daily basis for a while now. Collection or delivery the food is always nice and fresh. Been to other chippys in Watford before but nothing comes close to the Anchor. Use to use other chippys such as the Viking before had many problems with them with food being cold or stale. I was recommended the Anchor from a friend of mine and never have I been unhappy with my meal or complained... the staff are so friendly and always have a smile on there face every time I ring or go into the shop. Thank you Anchor for such amazing service every time will defo recommend and reuse this place. 100% from me Anchor.

Our usual place to go for fish and chips or kebab since we moved to the area but the last few orders wasn't quite as good as normal, if it continues we maybe looking for another local

when you order the food at this place is quite good. But if you order delivery its a big no. The fish was cold and it tasted like it was made one week before..ugh but thx for them I got my own fryer and make my own food now :)

Not sure why everyone else has bad experiences, but I can say that the staff there are great and very friendly. The food is very well priced and tastes fantastic. I would dedinitely say their burgers are the best I've ever had, which for £3 (for a double) you really can't go wrong

Awful, served by a seriously miserable girl who 100% did not want to be there, food was average at best. Was the best place in Watford, now new owners have ruined it!! AVOID!!

Normally it's ok quality but this time I was asked un necessary questions🙄 I was on the phone for 6 mins and when it arrived it tasted as if it had just been warned up the meat was curled up and dry and grey and there was lots of gristle and bones and after eating it I have been sick 3 times I'm am going down to the hospital soon as I have bad stomach pains and it's been after I ate the food I am very disappointed with the anchor service and next time I order I will order from the Viking 😠

Amazing food. Professional service delivery before estimated time large cod was bigger than other places kebabs nice and fresh. Chips golden definitely reorder from here compared to anywhere else. Well done guys!

I would agree with the previous post. The cod is sub-standard to say the least. Terrible quality, and I won't be using these people again.

Poor quality, cold food, delivered late with items missing. The manager was extremely rude and refused to refund the money for the missing items. Avoid this business like the plague
