The Anchor Fish and Chips in East Renfrewshire

half of my chips were burnt. The order took a very long time to come. it's dissapointing as you are the only halal chippy I can order from so want it to be nice. quite often the food is cold. Today it was hot so that's good.

Ordered a delivery from here to EK tonight and it was delicious. Iv had suppers from here before and they too were fresh and tasty. Pleasant and happy staff too. 😊

The delivery driver lied and said they sent out another driver with new order.nut when I called the resturant thry daid the driver got lost but will be there shortly. Thr good was soggy and cold.

Great pakora, lots of gluten-free options, really nice curry sauce that actually had a wee kick to it, lahore fish was bigger than expected and tasty. Chips not very good, partner chucked most of hers, I only finished mine because they were drowned in that banging curry sauce

food was look warm and NOT HOT

Absolutely brilliant apart from chips not warm enough. Smoked sausage and white pudding were fine but chips not hot. Still enjoyed it but …..!

Do gluten free chips and curry sauce. Just as good and more reasonably priced than Buon Appetito up the road

I ordered a Donner Pizza with Mushroom topping. The Mushroom topping was so bad I immediately threw the mushrooms out of my mouth. I would recommend the owner to please change the mushrooms they smell very awful.

The delivery was later than expected. HOWEVER, the guy at the anchor phoned me up to explain that the driver was taking a while and so they gave me a free margarita pizza. I think there was some extras in with the mini fish that I ordered too. They gave me a few bits of chicken pakora and a fritter. The food was hot and delicious, felt bad i couldn’t finish it all!

It took roughly 1 hour and 30min from the time I ordered to the time they prepared my order. And this is not incuding delivery time. It took 15min for delivery. The driver was great, but the service from anchor was really bad. This is the second time anchor have done this. And the battred fish was fallen appart. was not made right. Such a let down. when I called to complain about being late, the staff came across aloof.

Lovely gluten free fish supper! Just waited over an hour for it (which I wouldn’t have minded if this was the time given originally) however they gave some extra chips to make up for it :)

Always a good experience. Guys are lovely and friendly and great gluten free options here too. So reasonably priced. We continually order and the service is always so good, really service with a smile.

My Wrap was frozen COLD, THE separate chips was cold, I had to put them into the Microwave... This is the 3rd delivery in a couple of months that food was LATE and Frozen

They didn't have exactly what I ordered so they threw in something extra for free ! So sweet even tho it was totally unneeded but I really appreciate them already for offering such good gluten free options :)

No onion rings on the burger as advertised, no sauce with the chicken pakora which tasted funny & dry. Everything else was ok. Unlikely to order again unfortunately:(

I moved to the area 2 years ago, and back them, this was my absolute go to. Food quality was 4-5 stars every time. I’m sad to say this is no longer the case, the last 5 or 6 times the quality has been abysmal. I’ve kept going back, hoping they could return to their glory days. Sadly, I’m admitting defeated after this latest attempt. Atrocious

Chips where dry and fish batter burnt

Usually this is my go to place for fish/chips or a wee supper but tonight I was really disappointed. The sausage was a bit over cooked. The chips were like yesterdays reheats. There wasn’t one decent chip you could eat or call a chip. They were fragments of chips that appeared to have potato missing. They were brick hard & chewy. Even my wee dog had to give them a good chew. I’ve given 2 stars based on my previous orders but would give 0 stars based on tonight’s order. Disappointed & left hungry

Didn't receive the chips that came with the pizza deal .

Food was over cooked, and not nice to eat. That’s what happened when it’s delivered one hour later than expected. It’s sat in a heated area to keep warm, but has lost all its freshness

Very quick service, fish was very hot, crispy and fresh. Staff are friendly and provide a great service. Would Recommend if your looking for quick and quality chippy.

I asked for brown sause on my chips. I got chips with brown water. Boggin. Pizza wasn't nice and was bashed in box. Cheesy pasta says homemade? No it was one of the worse cheesy pastas I've ever had from a takeaway and yous have the cheek to ask for a fiver delivery. First and last time I will order

Have the most fussy partner known. He only eats a couple of things, however he can’t stop raving about the delicious meal we had from here. Burger was beautifully made and the pizza was almost as good as my own homemade version 😉. Enjoyed so much we have ordered 2 nights running. Thank you for such lovely food and excellent service. Happy friendly delivery staff. Amazing little gem hidden in Clarkston. Please don’t change the burgers. They are so good.

I have alway had a great fish and chips from this place. Sense some of the one star reviews are of a personal nature and seem suspect.

Very disappointed. I ordered this for dinner. Turned out the pakora was rock hard as was the fish, either reheated or over cooked.I had to prepare another meal for the night, food was inedible.Never again.

Large family order tonight, masala fish suppers were full of flavour and spice was perfect. Pizzas were delicious, fresh with generous amount of toppings. The whole family loved it.

Worst chippy I have ever ordered. Order had been wrapped air tight in a plastic bag and was a soggy, inedible mess when it arrived. Tried to call to resolve but kept on being told they would call back and instead avoided our calls when we called back. Worst chippy I’ve ever had in my life - had to bin.

Picked up food for collection, upon arrival I got a warm welcome from staff and food was packed as I waited. The food went down a treat with the family, highly recommended if you are looking for a chippy serving fresh hot food.

Literally the blandest, most tasteless chips I've ever tasted. Got chips and a sausage supper, and no amount of salt could give this food any flavour whatsoever. Please don't bother getting food from here, unless you have no taste buds.

Ordered food online Sunday night late, was surprised Anchor was even opened! Food was tasty, hot and fresh. Would definitely use again!

This has got to be the worst chippy. The food is cold and chips are awfully hard dry and tastes absolutely horrible . Definitely avoid if you don’t want to waste your money. Lol at the fake good review the owner “Omar Akram” gave himself what a joke. Guess its a hobby of Omar and his wife Sophia does writing fake good reviews to cover up their rubbish service.

Not a big fan of the quality here. Sausage was very strange. There are better chippies nearby, such as Catch in both Netherlee and Giffnock, plus Buon Appetito in Clarkston itself.

Pizzas was delicious. Fish + Chips good portion sizes.

They've worked really hard over the past couple of years to improve the quality of their produce. It's now my kids preferred location for a proper fish n chips that is Halal too Really friendly staff and well priced!

Really gone downhill. Food tastes awful, like the oil doesn't get changed daily. Smells disgusting. Shame, as it used to be the best in the area. Won't be going back.

Absolutely disgusting! Found a worm/maggot in our portion of chips and curry sauce. Was then called a liar even after providing photographic evidence! Very poor customer service and even worse quality of food. Strongly advise you to avoid this chippy!!

Since moving to Glasgow I've been trying to find a decent fish and chip shop, growing up in the north east I had high standards and The Anchor met them! Proper chippy chips and quality battered haddock!

First time customer tonight (Nov 2020) via Just Eat. Very happy. Food order was correct and arrived early. Kids loved the smoked sausage - should have ordered more. Very tasty chips. Thank you!

Ordered a fish supper last night, or at least that's what I think I asked for, but received a batter supper. Pretty much up to half the volume was greasy batter. Never again!

Great place with very nice people who look to make you feel comfortable and that you are the only customer. Even when I ordered food for delivery and was wrong the were so nice they sent original order at no cost even though I jad eaten the food. Great place great people

Foods greasy and not up to much

Don’t seem to be capable to answer a phone, I’m currently sitting on the floor starving as I ordered my food almost two hours ago, and it still has not came, absolutely fumin rn. Wouldn’t not recommend. 1 star

First and last time chips tasted like they were made with old oil kids couldnt eat them sausages were horrible and pizzas were bland 25 quid straight in the bin wobt be back

Looked crispy in the warm shelf, possibly the amount of overload of vinegar (staff member not skilled enough) i had to drain it but too late & the end result was soggy batter & (in my opinion) I think the quality of fish rendered it tasteless, I should have realized when it was 7pm on a Friday night and I was the only customer, so that's a👎 from me

Not been for a while and was told it’s under new management , which is great and good luck !! The veggie burger was fried and the buns soggy , peri peri chips had little peri peri powder on them , the fish was disappointing , soggy and rubbery ...the rest sausage supper etc were fine .. think it’ll be a while before we come back !! But good luck .

3 times now I've ordered chips with my meal and the chips are not cooked properly. Pure white and hard. Should be crisp brown

Best in the business at making delicious Donner Kebabs with freshly chopped salad. And they've been consistently delivering this excellent quality of food and service. Do recommend. :)

Halal Fish and chips shop. Also kebabs and pizzas.

This shop is now under new management. Just visited it again and they have now got rid of most of the lunch time specials. I ordered the fish n chips as usual, which now is a hiked up price So at least I expected better quality. But no, the fish was as small as the lunch time one we used to get but the taste has gotten worse. Very bad and left a sour taste in my mouth. Will not be going there again. These guys need to compare themselves with other shops and what they offer. I think they have improved their margins and sacrificed the quality in the process. Hope the old management comes back. But I definitely won't be going there again!
