Got a fantastic special fish, black pudding and sausage, everything was cooked to perfection, would recommend and return

Lovely place for fish and chips, nothing fancu but will get you a good meal. Amazing service. The lady behind the counter provided top-notch customer service, and that goes a long way. I've been there a few times and will continue as long as service remains the same.

Absolutely superb!!!! Ordered a delivery for 18.00 and it not only arrived early it was so fresh and hot . They even had written a lovely message in the bag saying “extra hot, extra crispy, enjoy” and we certainly did. We will be back and will highly recommend.

Worst fish and chips shop, where I asked for full fish supper and was expecting 2 fish with chips. I was said I would get 1 large fish and chips £11.90 Than I was offered extra fish and was charged another £8.00. I paid the whole some. Came home a sitting for my dinner along with my friend. And found out there was no chips in my extra but was charged the whole amount. Also the batter was so greasey and crispy where you we cannot even have it by fork. Never again. Complete rip off fish and chip

Food was cold and not very fresh

Very unusually the chips tasted like re-fries. Cold and rubbery. Happy to say since this blip their quality has been 5 star again and they gave us a refund for the chips. Therefore I still highly recommend Hook.

Decent enough food, but took an hour and 15 mins to arrive, and refused to give compensation for being so late. You would expect better service from someone that charges so much. Really shouldn't be taking orders they're not equipped to fulfil

Staff rude asked for a roll and chips couldn’t get it unless spent £5 so then asked for juice which took it £6.30 about 10 chips and a dry roll absolutely disgusting 🤮 never again

Both cheeseburger were pink inside. All food was so greasy, oil was dripping out when you bit into it. Not as good as it used to be

The Couriers appear to locate customers only by SATNAV and ignore the customer notes on delivery. In my case they often deliver to the wrong block of flats with the same postcode, ignoring my specific delivery notes. They then get lost and if English is not their first language, they have difficulty understanding verbal guidance on the phone. This is now a regular problem.

The food was tasty, but hit hot enough

When I went into Hook for 2 small bags of chips, I noticed that the price of chips wasn't on the board but didn't think anything of it at the time. I asked the rude guy behind the counter for 2 small bags of chips, he told me to wait 5 minutes. Then a rude older woman came out and said "two chips, 8 pounds". I reluctantly paid as we were both hungry, but £4 for a small bag of chips? I'm sorry, not a bloody chance. No wonder the price wasn't on the board! Absolute daylight robbery, the owners should be ashamed.

It's one of the best chip shops I've ever been to. Food lovely and cooked to order so you do have to wait. Staff really friendly. Really well done out. A different from other chip shops.

This is the first time I have ordered anything other than the special fish but I was glad I did. The pizza had plenty of topping and was very tasty and came with plenty of chips. The fish was huge and really meaty with breadcrumbs. The order was early which really suited us but we were prepared to wait as the food is always excellent. Cheerful and pleasant delivery drivers too.

I moved to the area a year ago and this is honestly the best chippy I have found so far. I have ordered a couple of times now from here. Delivery is fast, meals are hot and taste delicious. Only one fault is that they advertise a mince pie supper when in fact it’s a scotch pie supper that you get . I was expecting an actual mince pie oozing with gravy, it tasted nice but I won’t be ordering that dish again. Will deff be a returning customer Thanks

I’m giving this one star because of two reasons. chips tasted like sausage, so greasy, felt like a meal of oil. I ordered a twix, I received small twix, ones you buy in a 4 pack, with a label not for resale. I thought this was a joke! Pizza was nice. But I will not be ordering here again. Not for me! Actually it was a waste of money! Delivery was early, that was great.

I live 5mins drive and it took 1hour and 10mins to come. Only ordered fish and chips, pizza. Pizza was dry and hard. Fish was overdone and tasted ok. Probably won’t get a delivery again from here.

The food was great, tasty as always, but we had a missing item, of a single sausage. Delivery was 30 minutes early, which was also great. We ordered the root beer which was sold out, we were provided an alternative, or a refund, which was great. We asked for a wee tub of pizza sauce to dip our mozzarella sticks in, which we would happily paid for, but as far as we could see, there wasn't an option to add it to the order. We got a wee bit of a passive agressive note in the order saying it was free this time but next time we would have to pay. Give us the option to do so and we will. Pizza sauce and mozzarella sticks is the best combo.

Greasy over priced fish and chips. Disappointing.

£28 for 2 pieces of soggy fish along with burnt & broken fried pizza. The prices for what we received were extortionate. Definitely not value for money. Better to go elsewhere for better quality, larger portions and cheaper prices.

It came much earlier than predicted, super fast..so I wasn't actually ready for it! It was okay, I've had better fish suppers from Hook. For all above reasons I felt it might not have been freshly cooked.

arrived very quickly,fish supper was ok,scampi slightly on the well done side but the king rib was inedible,looked like it had been in the oven all day,batter you couldn’t cut through & there was what tasted like congealed grease inside so needless to say one mouthful & it was in the bin. Just eat were meant to be refunding that meal but I’m still waiting.

However, given delivery and card fees it’s £5 cheaper from Valentinis in the Ayr Rd and they allow collecting, so no delivery fees

Sell web time was 1.30 hrs which is ridiculous for a Wednesday night, overpriced for what you get fish isn’t fresh and it’s soggy

Friendly staff, tasty food. I'm allergic to fish sadly but the lasagne and chips is a treat! Family all love the fish as well as the sausages, black pudding and pizzas. Already looking forward to the next visit.
