They've recently refurbished and had a change in management. We had a really lovely Sunday lunch here; the kids were playing in the garden and on the climbing frame, my partner enjoyed the Sunday roast, the staff were delightful, the prices were very reasonable and the football was on the screens. I found the atmosphere really welcoming; it's not a gastropub with high-end food but it's friendly, warm, cheap and cheerful, with lots to offer. PS: I had the shwarma flatbread, which was very tasty.

What an awful run down pub, looks like it is in the middle of a war zone in a terminator film

Sterile feel to the place on a late Saturday afternoon to early evening. If you like lager this is your place. Beer extends as far as John Smiths fizz and no further. Has pool table and darts board. A punch ball strength game, one has to wonder is this in a pub to take tension out of the punters before they lamp each other? Not cheap for otherwise cheap beers. Love music available. Didn't feel unwelcome, or threatened just didn't feel welcomed, lacks something to make it a destination venue.

Since changing hand this place has change dramatically. The staff and the new landlady and her family are absolutely lovely. It just got a very welcoming feel to the place. They have Dj,s n the weekend, pool table ,darts and fruit machines too. It’s dog and family friendly,has a lovely pub garden area out the back too. Definitely a well deserved 5⭐️ Pub

I had never been here before so popped in with the dog to see what it was like, very friendly staff and management, love that the pub is dog friendly. Very good for your money, a good pub to stop off and have a drink.

Absolutely worst management In a pub I have been too. I asked him to move away from my table after I mentioned a complaint I had. He didn’t agree and kept raising his voice. I asked him again to move away from my table which had food on. He said we had an attitude problem because I asked him to move away as it wasn’t going Anywhere. We was offered a free drink but declined as we felt the complaint was right to inform him. I mentioned health and safety came first, he said the ceiling needed repairing as there is a hole and can’t fix everything. I mentioned what happens if the ceiling fell through and landed on a customer end - he shrugged his shoulders. He shouted at us to eat our food which by now was cold and never to return. I would not go back on a pub where the manger is like that and health and safety he would blame his customers. Told me I was insensitive and explained I deal with customers daily at the local council which includes health and safety department . We asked for a head office address as a manager he didn’t have it. Leading in to my face is disgusting. Stay away

The waitress was doing a sterling job trying to hold the fort with serving and clearing tables and she was on her own. She apologised for keeping us waiting. The food was ok but it wasn't very hot. I expect food that came straight from a kitchen to be hot, but it wasn't. My biggest bug bear is going somewhere and getting lukewarm food. Plenty of parking.

The food never disappoints. There is lots of space. Nice for families.

Food quality has really gone down in this place and the service was not good. We were served Tilapia fish that was cold, staff were un apologetic and couldn't be bothered. Very disappointed!

Unprofessional bar personnel. The nyama choma was nice but the kids meals and the ugali (from frozen...? Definitely not fresh) were a let down

Kenyan Vibe is in this place. Cool music, cool staff. Enjoyed pool table game with pro's who gave me a hard time 😅😅😅 enjoyed my time there will be back for more definately. Kudos to the team.

Came into the anchor today and was served by Jamie behind the bar , she was very helpful explaining all the new corona virus rules and why they're in place . Very good customer service and will definitely be coming in again!

Was visiting Bedford and this place caught our eye so we popped in for a drink. Fantastic food, good drinks and awesome service. Will definitely go back when next in the area.

Anchor pub in Watford is more than just a pub. It's the place to be if you want to eat very tasty Kenyan cuisine. We had a birthday celebration there and we ordered Nyama choma (grilled mutton, fried matumbo (tripe), Tilapia fish, Ugali( mashed like maize meal) kachumbari( salsa), spinach, chapattis, chips, chicken nuggets and fish fingers for the kiddies. I highly recommend everyone to come here book a table whatever the function. And there was a DJ playing awesome mucic till the wee hours of the morning.

I think the last time I went in here was over twenty years ago. Was later on in the day after going to a funeral and I thought we'd stop and have a drink before going on. Very much a pub as I frequented in my youth. Very refreshing from todays modern public houses.

Another of Bedford's popular pubs that would attract far more custom if prices were more reasonable considering its distance from the town centre.

Ordered a cheese burger meal, the bun was chewy on the bottom and so tough on the top that I couldn't eat it. The burger was really dry and tough. Ordered chicken for my partner and he was given beef, when we spoke to the staff about this they nodded and walked off and never bought the correct dish out. The pub seems really nice but I won't be ordering food from here again
