We like the bread and the snack food here, as well as the friendly staff and atmosphere inside and out. When we go it’s generally busy. Came down this Wednesday and saw the chalk board sign with new times Thursday to Saturday only. There was nothing about this on the website and we hope that it’s only temporary.

Best bread and cakes in Plymouth by a mile. Forget Jacka et al. and go here instead. Staff also pleasant and friendly. Food they serve also looks good.

A perfect pastry hidden gem! Everything is beautiful looking, and I chose a pain au chocolat. Not only are they big and 100% worth the very reasonable £2.90, the pastry is beautifully laminated and buttery in a way I don't think I've had in a long time. Will be visiting soon for a sandwich!

I have lived in Plymouth for 2 years now and this is without any doubt the best place in town for awesome quality and super tasty food, splendid coffee (and chocolate 😉) and an unmistakable atmosphere of kindness, goodness and taste. It is also probably the best bakery in town. If you are lucky enough to spare a word with the owner, then something may happen: something about wisdom, something about a very special person, something about a splendid generation. Enjoy! 🩵

Came across this bakery and cafe by accident, thanks to a bill board on the footpath. Had a lovely cup of tea, made in a tea pot, and a pain au raisin (crisp and tasty). Great service and lovely seating area outside or in. Would recommend

We pass and stop for coffee when out walking in Plymouth. Usually we try different things we see in the shop, the coffee is excellent as are the pastel de nata and Sausage Rolls. Recently we tried one of the speciality tarts which are available (if you are very quick) on a Friday. The one we tried Parmesan and Chive with pickled Peppers on the top was so good we ordered a whole one, not cheap but was FANTASTIC! we took it for our dinner at home. Have not had better anywhere in France or Italy or Spain, and we have sampled quite a lot. They only do five stars on this page not nearly enough to give full praise to the quality and workmanship of this bakery.

Oooh this is a little hidden gem at the top of Looe Street near the art college buildings. Amazing pastries, my friend’s wife who is French said some of the best outside of France. It’s small with just a couple of table seatings available, the lunch menu seems to be a couple of sandwiches of the day, on their own bread which is fab. The croissant are amazing, coffee excellent, staff lovely. A really lovely spot to chill and chat for a lunch date that is authentic and rustic. I believe the main bakery is based near Dartington, they have an outlet in Totnes too. Please visit this lovely, charming little spot.

We’ve been using the Almond Thief mothership at Webbers Yard near Dartington regularly for several years and we’re delighted when we heard that they’d opened a satellite at the top of Looe St so very close to the city centre and Barbican. Came in today and bought a large sourdough loaf, huge croissants and would have grabbed some of the open doorstep sandwiches if we hadn’t already eaten. I presume the baked items may come in daily from Dartington but am not sure. The place is in a sunny sheltered spot and the sign says ‘Bakery, Coffee, Mill’ - the last apparently a reference to the company’s own flour mill. Prices here are fair and match those of the other established sourdough bakery in Southside Street. Now we tasted the delights at Almond Thief we will be back, not only for the baked stuff but to use the cafe properly. Friendly helpful guys behind the counter. There’s not only some warm in the window seating but some outdoor tables in a shaded spot just across the lane.
