The Algarve Portuguese Restaurant in Hertsmere

Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to eat at this restaurant, I booked a table on 29th of May nearly one month before the reservation date. I was called less than one week before my reservation date, I couldn't answer the call and no voicemail was left. I then get a call the day before I was due to go there to be told that restaurant was closed and that they were on holiday. The male member of staff was not simpathetic or particularly apologetic to the fact that I was left without a reservation at such short notice for my wedding anniversary and daughters birthday dinner. I am Portuguese and was looking forward to eating there as the reviews are very good.

Four of us went to the Algarve for a pre-show dinner, prior to the Wylott's Centre. We had a lovely experience. Unsual menu, attentive, friendly service. The food was delicious, from start to desert. I liked the portugese beer too! It was reasonably priced and altogether a special evening. If you've not been, I strongly recommend this hidden gem.

once again, brilliant dinner! Steaks are a must! Starters are fantastic! Pedro was born to this! Wine is as good as you can wish, with lots of choices (portuguese wine only). Cocktails as you can wish (ask and it shall be done)! Always impressive place. It worth to come from Central London to Potters Bar.

We were greeted by the owner. The restaurant has a really nice ambience to it. Great choice of starters and mains. The bisque soup was excellent as was the sword fish special, very soft and tender, perfectly cooked vegetables and potatoes. We enjoyed every bite. Service throughout was attentive and we had great banter with the manager and a good chat after to hear about his philosophy for the restaurant. I can't wait to come back.

Wow what a fabulous meal. This was my second visit and the food was just as stunning the second time round. In fact I had the same main course of duck as I had on my previous visit as it was so good. Cooked to perfection a little pink and exceptionally tender. The staff were welcoming and attentive (but not too much)! There is a very comfortable atmosphere whilst it still feels special. The Portuguese red wine "Cabriz" was delicious and something we hadn't tried before. We will be back soon.

The best Portuguese experience we had in the UK by far. Authentic Portuguese taste with a fine twist. Exquisite service and atmosphere. There is plenty to choose from which makes it perfect for any appetite. Fresh fish, Ribeye steaks, tender Octopus, Seafood, Lamb, Duck, they have it all. And of course the Pastel de Nata. An all Portuguese Wine List and custom made Cocktails. Well done Pedro!

Never fails to impress. Classy restaurant with a simply superb menu. The freshest, tastiest food, served in the most friendly and professional way. You always receive a very warm welcome where Pedro and his team are so attentive. The food is so good, if it wasn’t for the English weather, you would almost think that you were in holiday in The Algarve!

My girlfriend and I had a great meal at The Algarve. Everything we ordered was of high quality (the Algarve style prawns are a must) along with a great list of Portuguese wines. They even had my favourite Portuguese brandy! Pedro is an excellent and attentive host who clearly takes pride in his restaurant and spends time getting to know his guests. We ended up being the last people left in the restaurant but never felt rushed or hurried to leave. It's lovely to have a taste of Portugal so close to home. There's so much more on the menu we wanted to try so we will return! They also offer a great value set menu for lunch or dinner. Good luck for the future Pedro.

We went with friends for dinner, Pedro, the owner went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable meal. The live music was great, as was the food, one of the best steaks I’ve had! Will certainly be going back!

My second visit to this authentic Portuguese restaurant in Pottersbar, of all places!! The owner is friendly and helpful with good suggestions for the food and wine. Nice music and ambiance. I will be going again later in the month for the live music event

Absolutely horrible customer service eapecially the manager / owner pedro silva, he is extremely rude.
