Great pub for food,plenty of choice and always delicious, Nice beer garden with plenty of seats, Dog friendly in bar, but get there early as difficult to book and only limited tables which are taken up fairly quickly. Good choice of real ale beers and lagers.

Stopped here for dinner last Thursday. The meal was one of the best I've had at a pub in a very long time. All the food was very fresh (and not precooked), very enjoyable and prices very reasonable indeed. Will come back here again when i am in the area in the future. I visited again very recently and food is just as good and the staff are very friendly and helpful

Lovely, freshly cooked food. I had the smaller portion Sunday roast and there was plenty on the plate, in fact I couldn't quite finish it all. Extremely busy (always a good sign), but was served promptly and didn't have to wait too long for the meals. Would definately recommend the Admiral Wells

One of several meals out as not a long drive from Whittlesey and eats the local pub grub foods there, excluding the Railway. Special visit with the kids for wife's 51st Birthday midweek meal. Excellent meals and choices for all of use and then a quiz after which we stayed and tried and came last :). Recommend the quality, size and value to anyone and friendly and efficient staff 10/10

Visited for the first time for a meal.What a wonderful place to eat.The food was absolutely wonderful ,my only gripe was that I had homemade chicken and leek pie although very nice there was far to much salt inside which if I am honest spoilt the meal for me ,I wasn't the only one in my party to make a comment about there being to much salt.Other than that it was a really lovely place to visit and will be going back again and would recommend it to everyone.The toilets are outstanding and wonderfully clean,all in all a wonderful experience ,also have outside eating which is another wonderful feature.

Called in for Sunday Lunch without a booking and was told we could order but the food my take up to an hour, which was fine with us. The food came within half an hour and was superb. Staff very friendly and efficient. Highly recommend

Great pub, we visited Tan Hill Inn, the highest pub and had to visit the lowest pub…we were not disappointed! The staff are amazing, brilliant service and steak and ale pie was to die for! We live 1.5 hours away, but I would make the effort to come here again.

Probably the best food I have ever had. Unbelievably good and at a very reasonable price. I can imagine that this is going to be a regular event.

My Husband and I love this place and when my family visit and we go out we always book here because we know the food is excellent, proper homemade food, a good price and over the ten years we have been going we have never had a bad meal. Our visit today was no different Went for Sunday lunch with my Dad & Step Mum, we had starters, steak and ale pie and 2 roasts, my husband said the best lamb he’s had in years and my pie was lush as it always is! 3 courses, bottle of wine & a liquor coffee for £30 a head, great service even thou it was busy, we were not rushed and the waitresses where lovely and happy to be at work on a hot Sunday. Thank you, we really enjoyed it 😀

Third visit to this public house/restaurant while visiting family. Another good quality meal in quantity and price was enjoyed by our party of four over a Friday lunchtime. Clean tidy well presented premises with friendly staff.

Great food, prices a bit high, but portions are very generous, so if you prefer smaller meals opt for the 'small meal', still more than enough for me!!

I would say this pub is excellent if you go for lunch or dinner and simply order the pub food such as scampi and chips or steak pie - both of which are consistently very good. My family and I went for Sunday roast recently however and I can honestly say the roast chicken was absolutely appalling- it was such poor quality meat I doubt they would get away with serving it at Whitemoor prison. It was like processed/boiled meat- just terrible. Also, we were in the garden so that the children could play on the climbing frames and I was rather shocked to discover that despite the kids area being located only about 6 ft from the B660 road the pub landlord has never deemed it necessary to put a fence up ?? Children basically could walk straight through gaps in the hedge straight onto the road- I would have thought basic common sense would determine a fence would be a good idea between a playground and a road?

Came here with me Ma for dinner. Nice landlord, friendly servers and wonderful food. So many vegetables accompanying my chicken pie. Well priced and perfect portions for a meal.

Not your usual ping it and ding it grub pubs served, slightly more gastro at reasonable prices Excellent Sunday lamb and roast, with huge portions of meat and fresh trimming. Ideal location, great car park and outdoor spaces with a lovely eatery on the side for private functions and a great dining conservatory to the rear. Would highly recommended 👌

Just found our go to place. Went for Sunday dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice portions with the veg cooked to perfection. Big portion of beef as well. Staff super friendly and lovely. Outside eating area or drinking with picnic tables, also a sheltered area. Kids play garden with some good safe climbing frames and a play ship. With Sunday dinner and dessert X 2 also 3 alcoholic drinks £52 Plenty of parking. Very highly recommend the Admiral Wells.

A nice pub with a good kids' play area and outside seating. Good food and chunky chips :) Downside is that the carpark can sometimes be full and it can be difficult to get a space.

One of the best around. Food has always be done to perfection, service is always great with very friendly and welcoming staff. This place is even great for a little drink with the family, there is a decent size play area for the kids with plenty of garden to enjoy the sun. This pub is absolutely fantastic, if you like proper pub grub for a reasonable price this is the place to visit. The food is always good quality for the price and portion sizes are big. Staff are friendly and inviting. Had the salad recently, great value. The drinks selection is vast and not overly expensive. Had the Steak and Ale pie previously, full of meat, vegetables cooked to perfection and plenty of Gravy.

Nice pub with a reasonable range of beers and several casks. Liked there was a zero% abv beer on draft, great for drivers etc. Nice to see a few vegan food options and we had the vgn baquette which was fine.

Our first visit to this large pub on the edge of a WW2 air base, close to the village of Holme. We had some very good Digfield ales, and hearty, tasty food, including Scampi and Chips, Macaroni Cheese and two lots of Lamb Chops between four. Friendly and welcoming, it also has a large beer garden and children's play area.

You do wait about 30-40 mins for your meal to be delivered to your table from when the staff take your order. But food is great, especially the Sunday roast. But the service can be a bit on the slow side.

A fabulous place to visit. Many people also think this, so book, or it is unlikely, that you will get a seat.

Unfortunately, I do not have quite enough superlatives to express just how wonderful this restaurant is. Every dish ever tasted has been amazing. All meals have been flawless, perfect portion sizing and the staff are accommodating. Certainly a MUST to anyone local and those visting nearby, though booking for any group is essential to avoid disappointment.

Good size carpark and the pub looks nice from outside which makes a great impression. We had a lunch reservation and one of the staff asked if they could help us almost as soon as we got through the door. Our table was in the bright, airy extension. The selection of beers was good (I normally opt for a session bitter) and the menu was extensive which does hint at a lot of frozen items. Service was good, not all over us all the time, but no real waiting either. The food was generally excellent, the liver and bacon was cooked perfectly and a joy. The serving size was generous. The beef burger was not so impressive, but in my experience, a great burger is quite rare, but I didn't think this one hit the mark. The fish and chips was also very good and the serving was impressive. For a lunchtime during the week, there were a few people in having lunch. Our friends had been here the previous weekend when it was busier and they said that the service was just as good and the food no different. The bill was a nice surprise and made our visit excellent value for money. We will definitely return.

Had a lovely lunch here with a friend who was visiting. Lots of choice and great service. We had prawn cocktail which was perfect! I had the Steak and Ale pie which was fab! Tender chunks of Steak in a lovely pastry served with a rich proper gravy. Everything was hot & fresh. Oh and the log fire was crackling az it was a cooler day....lovely

Decent traditional pub that serves excellent food and good beer. Clientele is mostly older and the atmosphere reflects that however the pub is clean and well presented. The homemade pie is amongst the best I’ve had!

A very long wait for food today. Two large tables in and very busy but an hour is a long wait.

We had Sunday roast and the beef was tough and then we got it replaced with lamb rump which never was rump it was more like a shank. Also due to a function being on we had to wait near on 1 and a quarter hours for our food.

When I go for dinner I don’t want to hear the restaurant phone ringing and ringing every 5 minutes and nobody picking it up.spoils it the atmosphere.

Having lunch here was very pleasant. Room was a little cold, we were on the round table on its own in side bar. However, food was very tasty and well presented. We all had small portions which were ample for all of us. Gammon was beautiful, 2 had turkey, plenty of meat plus accompliments great. One liver and bacon beautifully cooked and cut like butter. All in all lovely meal.

Popped in to The Admiral Wells for meal, we hadn't booked, so took a chance. We were greeted by a waitress and given a table. Excellent service from start to finish, friendly staff, great service and really excellent food. We will be coming back very soon, as we are based at the local airfield. T6 Harvard Ltd.

Had a work Xmas lunch here today. Good honest food, beautifully cooked , and a huge sticky toffee pudding. Well priced. Next time I eat there I'll have a pint too

Our first visit, six of us for our annual siblings lunch. Nice place, good atmosphere. Service was a little slow but on the positive side we didn’t feel we were being rushed to make room for a later booking, (different pub, different year). The six of us ordered across the menu; two roasts, (one lamb one beef); one pie, (looked home made); one New York chicken; one liver & bacon and one scampi. Food looked lovely, well presented and the plates were hot. Mine certainly tasted as good as it looked, (no photos, we were there to catch up & eat, not photo our food, maybe it’s an age thing 😂), the others in our party were as happy. I have dietary restrictions, (milk & soy), and the staff were happy to check for me. There are vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options on the menu. Because of the age of the building there are steps here and there and no dedicated accessible toilet. However, one of the stalls in the ladies has rails and a raised seat, I can’t speak for the men’s but my husband said it was a bit tight for room. More than one person there was using a wheeled walker, including my husband. All things considered we are hoping to go back there next year.

Food is a generous size but it's good quality, my beef chilli pot had a lovely kick to it. Service was a little slower than on a weekend but was not an issue staff are polite and helpful

Excellent Sunday Roast, complemented by a slick operation. It was very busy, but we weren't aware of any delay in our food.

I have gluten, lactose and sulphite allergies and find it virtually impossible to eat out. But I had options to suit my allergies. The staff when not sure either asked the kitchen or me to clarify what the food contained. The portions were very good. The food was hot. The staff were extremely friendly, polite and professional. We definitely enjoyed celebrating our 45th wrdding anniversary and will return to eat here again.

Best place for Gluten Free food! The burger is out of this world and not to mention the brownie! Been coming here for years and will continue!

This pub restaurant is a real gem. The staff are friendly and professional and the food was cooked to perfection. We had booked a table of 8 for a Sunday roast lunch. All the meals came within a couple of minutes of each one and they were very generous portions including the meat. There was four different meats available too. Also an excellent choice of homemade desserts. I cannot fault the place. You need to book well in advance.

What we would call as travellers from abroad, a delightful Olde English pub in the countryside!! It has easy access from all directions, plenty of parking space, and an interior that is large; welcoming and their seating is extremely comfortable to linger-longer for delicious pub grub. Service was fast, staff are friendly, our food portions were generous, and they were happy to make a change in the menu to accommodate a seafood allergy. For the less mobile , entry and exit was relatively simple to negotiate. Well worth a visit

Great food. Apparently you can order smaller portion, I wish I had, portion was massive for a lunch, kept me going all day. Friendly staff a bit slow but it was packed out which to me means the other guests thought food was great as well. Definitely recommend and will be going back with my husband. Not sure if they take bookings but may be better to book ahead. Home made food

Wow this places was great. The staff went above and beyond when we visited for a family birthday, the food was delicious and the chicken and black pudding special was out of this world. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone and we back for another visit soon.

We tried The Admiral Well on the recommendation of friends. I review this experience in relation to those recommendations and my expectations of pub food. ACCESSIBILITY ♿ being disabled but not wheelchair bound, I was able to get in OK. I was also able to get to the toilet reasonably well. For the wheelchair bound you would enter the building over one small step, turn immediately left through another door into the dining room, not too much movability inside. I am not aware of Accessible toilets, and the route to the toilets would I think 🤔 be tight in places for those in Wheelchair's. The dining room was comfortably intimate, with soft music playing. The chairs tightly padded reaching the middle of my back, comfortable. Tables as you would expect in a pub. The service was polite, and we were not kept waiting too long for our meal. The soft drinks were of standard. As the recommendations of friends was high, our expectations were perhaps unfairly high, and maybe with a closer inspection of the menu I may have chosen differently. However I must speak honestly of my own experience of the meal. My wife and I both choose Beef Chilli with rice, and a Garlic roll shared. Sadly for us the roll was the highpoint of this main course. The rice didn't seem right for this dish, it would we felt been more suitable with a curry. The Chilli it's self was a little hot which seemed to negate the flavour. There was however plenty of it. The Desert chosen by my wife was a caramel cheese cake that seemed to contain much chocolate, had my wife known this, she would not have picked it but the ice cream with it she did enjoy. I chose a Caramel Apple pie with Custard It was a little bland for my taste. I am sure from the recommendations I have heard for The Admiral Wells, it would suit many tastes, but not mine nor my wife's on this occasion.

We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch here. The food was absolutely delicious, all freshly cooked and the portions were very generous. We also had desserts after our meal - oh my, simply amazing! All the staff were super friendly, fantastic and efficient service. The play ground in the garden was an added bonus - certainly kept our little one entertained. Perfect spot for a family meal out. We will definitely be back soon.

Took a friend tonight for evening meal as a last minute arrangement. They fitted us in even though they were fully booked. Lovely ,tasty meal as we have learned to expect. Service very good and unobtrusive. 10/10
