Wonderful pub in which I feel safe amongst very friendly, helpful staff Sadly my view has changed somewhat … was good but after several different managers coming and going and and obscene amount of money spent in the venue and recommendations to others it takes me 10 minutes to get served in an empty pub! Asked to see manager but he/she disappeared so no more recommendations from me! Please respond …

Upmarket decor and drink options, a bit pricey though. Food is fresh and tasty, good portion sizes.

Very clean pub nice food, toilets are super clean very rare to see clean toilets around barking now pubs and restaurants clean bar and clean surfaces, the roast was good, nothing wrong at all food is presented well and they do alcohol free drinks thank you

I came to this pub today with my friend and had an amazing experience. Marcelina and Faylee are the best barmaids I have ever come across. Faylee served me a 5 star espresso martini, the vibes of the place were immaculate. David the manager has a great sense of humour and leaves the customers with a smile on their face

The pub is really stylish with a beautiful garden. Giving very cool vibes. There are some vegan and gluten free options (hope for more). David is a very good host here. He is such a nice and positive person. We will come more and more often. Highly recommend this pub!

The pub and its food is nice but the menu is quite poor: there isn't a lot of choice, and even less for those who are vegetarian (like my partner). While I was eating I asked for some wine but it arrived when I had practically finished my meal. As there were only 3 tables there for lunch (with ours included), it wasn't the case that it was so busy that my drink couldn't have arrived earlier. The place is very likeble and clean but there's definitely room for improvement. My 3 star rating is one of sincere encouragement, considering that the pub is relatively new. I think I will go back there again in the future.

Came in here whilst I was working away(25th of June), was greater by a very nice member of staff (I didn't catch her name), was a very nice environment and the food was brilliant. I had the spicy chicken wings for starters and the linguine for mains. Would recommend for anyone in the area.

Went to this pub, with family and friends, ordered a roast dinner, the presentation of the food, was the worse i have ever seen, the stuffing ball you could of playes base ball with it, the vegtables were over cooked, would not recommend the roast dinner

Significant drop of the quality. Pillows in the outside area all around the place, Tables and chairs are not prepared to accommodate guests.

Visited last Saturday. Tasteful refurbishment. Good selection of drinks and cocktails. Tribute band OK. Though we sat away from the main crowd to chat. Impressed with the facilities extremely clean. Nice mixed crowd of all ages. Friendly staff who thanked as we left which was nice gesture. The only negative was £1.60 for a small packet of crisps. Enjoyed so visiting again this Saturday for the Kisstory night.

Came here last night Sat, entertainment very good, came here for Sunday lunch, second time, food is awesome, had to compliment the chef, would highly recommend eating and drinking in this pub, staff are very friendly and the manager is very helpful.

Hello everyone,don’t recommenced this pub because when I call here they say me boxing translation, when I coming they say no we didn’t translation boxing !!!!

The revamp of this pub is definitely a great success. The interior is tasteful, in the style of a nice east London that is a inviting place. The bar staff are friendly and deliver a quick service. The outside garden area is a delight with plenty of seating, comfortable sofas and seating with shaded areas and nice lighting. There are a few craft ales on tap and a nice selection of beers at good prices. The food menu is small but that is for the better as the items are freshly made and offer good value. There is finally a place in Barking where professional individuals and families can go to and be proud off. We need more of these kind of places like Acorn in Barking instead of cheap looking take-always and dodgy bars/venues attracting the wrong (drug addicted) crowd. May the Acorn be long successful, you will keep my business.

1st time visiting this pub, staff were friendly, live band was a little loud but were good. Very competitive prices. Really nice inside can see recently refurbished, will visit again.

Went in for lunch with my 11 year old son on Saturday as we were visiting the Stagecoach Open Day. The pub was super busy and there was a bit of a wait for food (to be expected) but the staff seemed to have it under control, the service was great and the food was lovely! Definitely recommend!

So glad to have this pub as a local! The service is excellent and the pub has a friendly vibe. Plenty of screens to watch sport and the outside looks great for the warmer weather (although heaters work great too)! Homemade food is tasty and I look forward to trying the Sunday roast.

Highly recommended. I'm delighted that such a great pub has opened as my local! I've visited this pub several times since it opened and every time was a great experience. There's plenty of seating and a great beer garden with plenty of seating (including under shelter for protection from teh rain or sun) and heaters. I'm not a football fan, but if you are there are several well-placed TV screens showing games - and if you're not, there are even a few places you can sit without having to watch the game. There's a good selection of beers and the staff is very friendly and attentive. I've come a few times with my young children and they were very welcome until 7PM.

Visited the pub last night with my mates & it was a fantastic experience. The staff was super friendly & the service at the bar was super fast. Also plenty of seating inside the pub with very comfortable seats. Big bonus with all the TV screens inside... so perfect for the football & will make it a perfect place to go to during Euro 2024 in the Summer to watch England's games.

Nicely refurbished pub great choice of drinks. All staff are friendly and nice can't fault anything about service. There's a live music most weekends. Definitely a pub for everyone. Theres always sport on for those that want it but also theres 1 side with music instead and dinning area so something for everyone. Also big beer garden with areas covered and outdoor seating. We haven't eaten here so the 5 stars is just for the look of what people around us had on there plates all looked 5☆ plug food looks reasonably priced.

Popped in yesterday after sons football match nearby. Hadn’t been in the pub for many years. The money has been extremely well spent in the refurbishment. The staff are really nice and plenty of people were enjoying the food. Football was on all afternoon and the atmosphere was really good. Friendly locals and a mix of all ages. Will defo go back. Great pint of Guinness too which is a must for me!

Central London prices in Barking! To make matters worse, the cocktails (£10) are from a pre made bottle and mostly ice. Expect to pay no less than £7 for a pint. Staff are not very welcoming, particularly the older members of staff. Was a decent place when it was the Oak. The Decor is lovely and I’m sure it would have done well under different management. I’ll stick to making an old fashioned at home for a fraction of the price, and without the agg from the door staff!

I was very disappointed with my recent experience with The acorn. Specifically, I was unhappy with how rubbish the food was and how dead the atmosphere was in this pub. Probably the worst pub I've been to in a while.

Wish It was possible for no stars because this is an awful pub, service what service bar staff are so rude and ignorant and its so expensive for an average east end pub they ahve no loyalty to their local customers just money grabbers and there is no atmosphere because its rarely busy because its so expensive don't bother with food waste of time

Tried this out on a Thursday night. Wasn't very busy. Food options very limited. Bit pricy. Staff were very attentive.

Parked my car with Doorman allowing it. As I walked in everyone looked at me as the only Indian there and ordered my pint and this ugly looking racist man told me to move the car as he cannot have any drunk customer leaving their premises in car and causing accidents. He should know as a manager if any customer is getting drunk should not be served. Plus if his staff has allowed to park my car (there was already another car parked) then he should apologise and admit it was their staffs mistake. I always knew this pub to be full of racist scums. Never ever going back there in my life. The brewery should sack the manager for being rude and discourteous. I was sober and I had no drink there, just drove away. However the doormen were courteous enough and apologised for initially letting me park.

Really good visual revamp of this old local pub. Great outside space for the summer and very nice interior. Good range of drinks, a bit pricier than usual; I would prefer a price point where I could afford to visit more often rather than just an occasional treat. Sunday lunch was good, again the price point was high but the meal was lovely and well cooked. Service friendly and atmosphere good, when I get flush I will visit more often!

I have encountered too many experiences now as a young mixed race female where I have been harassed to show my ID, I would never be unwilling or have an issue to show my ID, ON REQUEST. Friday last week my friend and I were practically chased half way across the pub and I was physically grabbed by a man (I already had my ID in my hand as I was waiting for the waitress at the bar to be served), when he grabbed me, due to my previous experience I showed him my ID, he grunted and walked away (not even a thank you or apology for physically touching me) I could of made this a scene but didn’t want to identify to being a troublesome CUSTOMER, then came the actual security guard who asked to see my friends ID. Firstly, I’m 26 and my friend is 29, she showed her ID and he starred pro longingly at it asif it where to predict his future, my friend questioned if he would like another form of ID (even though it was a physical UK drivers license) she then produced a second form of ID as evidence which he starred at and then asked for mine AGAIN, after he started at it with a curious look on his face, he then laughed, smiled at us and returned our IDs and walked off, once again, no apology and no thank you. The waitress then asked if she could get us anything, we left, we didn’t buy anything. This is the second time something similar has happened to me at this residence and I would like to prepare anyone of colour, of the younger generation, that this is not the place that offers a warm, inviting and friendly atmosphere, it’s not diverse or welcoming. The fact that people who work behind the bar my friends and I went school with and that are actually younger than us know this, the owners should be ashamed to treat young females this way.

I only had a drink on a Sunday evening. Mainly older people like me. Not too crowded. Bar staff very pleasant.

So nice to have a decent pub in Barking. Great drinks, friendly staff and a nice vibe I'd never thought I'd see in a Barking pub. It's like being somewhere normal.

A great addition to the area. I went there last week on Sunday to try their Roast, which was fantastic. We had the beef which was very juicy and a chicken, finely roasted with veggies full of flavour. We really enjoyed the cosy atmosphere too, certainly unique in the area. We are not huge beer drinkers so opted for something else but the selection seemed fair. We will be back.

From the Owner's to the Regular's that drink at the Royal Oak. The whole experiance is a very enjoyable one. Everybody that drink's at the Royal Oak is a Gentleman and a Lady. Makeing any new customer feel part of the Royal Oak's family value's. Which i know is an image that the Royal Oak pride's it'self on presenting to the Genral Public and the regular's. There is alway's a terrific atmosphere when ever I visit the Royal Oak. With everybody just wanting to get on and enjoy there evening. I am alway's welcomed at the Pub like Family from regular's and the Staff through to the Owner's and Door Security. Which alway's make's the whole evening out socially drinking alway's a more pleasurable and enjoyable one. If you want a friendly terrific evening out. With drink's and dancing for the Lady's. With a great atmosphere. Then look no furthur then the Royal Oak Barking. Terrific kind decent Human Being's drink there. Brilliant curtious respectful Staff work there. What more could any decent Human Being need other then these factor's to make a visit to the Royel Oak a very enjoyable experiance. A visit that will keep you comeing back to the Royal Oak time and time again for more of that feel good factor. I wish the owner's of the Royal Oak every bit of success. I hope the pub get's the praise and support that a good decent respectful pub should get. Especially with how many respectful decent Human Being's, both men and woman go and socialize at the Royal Oak. The pub deserve's all the praise it get's. For alway's delivering a fantastic day or evening experiance. This enjoyment alway's made that bit easier for the Owner's because of the Respectful Customer's that drink at the Pub, and the terrific Bar Staff. I am already a massive fan of this pub and what these lads are trying to do. It’s about time we had a little bit of class brought back to Barking, although still very down to earth and natural. The Sunday lunch (beef) was excellent and I’m having the chicken next week. Good luck fellas, I’m right behind you!

Very nice clean pub with new lovely decor. Not tried the food, so only gave 1 star. Drinks were really expensive for Barking area. Over £11 for a vodka and lemonade and £7 for a pint!! I was really looking forward to the opening of this pub as it would be my local but costly drinks, has me avoiding this place. I have spoken to many other locals and neighbours who feel the same. It's a shame!

Tastefully refurbished, with a spacious garden area that is buzzing in the summer. Drinks selection is varied for spirits. Beer selection is keg only but has the usual crowd pleasers (Neck Oil, Old Moat, Fosters, Guinness, etc.). I would particularly recommend the classic burger, very juicily cooked beef, with a serving of perfectly turned out fries.

So good to see the old Royal Oak, now the Acorn, open again after what seems like a decade! The original features and layout are the same, including the fabulous windows, but there has been money spent well and wisely here. And the beer selection is sooooo much better. Welcome back!

A newly refurbished pub with a good selection of craft beers for the discerning palate. The staff are pleasant and professional. I did not use their catering service maybe on my next visit.

Visited the Acorn this evening for the 80’s night. We ordered 2 vegan burgers , the staff didn’t have a clue where our table was therefore the food came warm. The burger was ruined by being loaded with ‘coleslaw’? The soft drinks tap wasn’t working so had warm flat lemonade & coke from large bottles, literally no fizz whatsoever ever. Overall, the staff need more training. The management need to make sure it’s all running correctly and not think it’s acceptable for customers to be paying for flat drinks. Shame, as we had high hopes. I don’t think we’ll be visiting again.

I've just had the most tastless pizza ever! They look great. The bar staff etc are lovely. It is not disabled friendly. There are no handrails on the stairs going up into the beer garden. Nor none on the stairs leading into the undercover area outside. No car park.

Do they have Sun Beds in the Saloon bar if a customer needs to get a quick tan before catching a flight ?

Nice place, freshly refurbished. Spacious and light, with all staff friendly and helpful, even the two very smartly dressed doormen in their black suits and ties. Food quality was ok, not great. Food service a little lacking - I had to get cutlery, serviette and salt and pepper myself. Chips were overcooked. Drink selection good, all staff attentive and offering service, even the management. Good live music too. Plenty of seating, no parking, immense beer garden, half of which is covered. Try it.

Haven't tried the food yet but there is a good selection of beers and a lovely garden. Kids are allowed in until 7pm so a good balance between family friendly and grown up night out. Will definitely go again.

The kitchen only opened today, we couldn’t be more impressed, I had the burger and was glad I didn’t double up, even the wife said well done for finding this place😀 thought the prices were reasonable and the whole place was extremely clean with interesting furnishings from re purposed car seats to chesterfield sofas, we will return.

First time at The Acorn, we were approached immediately after entering as one of our party was wearing a cap, and was told passive aggressively "no hats inside". (Not an problem but couldve been said with a friendly/welcoming tone). Bar staff need more training, g&t had 2 ice cubes in and the glass was half full when the smallest bottle of tonic was added. Nice outside space, and interior well decorated. We'll be back to try the food.

Refurbished and renamed and much improved. The Acorn pub is a very classy pub in Barking possibly a sign that gentrification has at last arrived.

The new name is now 'The Acorn'. The whole place has been refurbished, and it looks very cosy and familiar, but also stylish and posh. They have a great variety of beer and spirits. The staff are friendlyand very welcoming. They have an outdoor terace and a small playing area for children.

What a joke called up to book table to watch football got there and told 15 pound for three drinks. Rip off wouldn't have minded if I was told before I got there.

Music was too loud for a Saturday. Appreciate the gesture of a club feel but still the static says it all. But the service and drinks was really good. And the pub itself was big and spacious. Doesn't get too busy too which I think is a good think. Would recommend.

There was a menu with many things like onion rings,chips and many,many other things and when I went to the bar,the bartender told me that there's only Pizza what they can make it for me.When I asked them why on every single table is a menu with 3-4 pages with salads,starters,beer sides and so many more things,the bartender said again,there's only pizza what the pub make it.... (sorry for my english) I don't think I'm gonna come back again :)

Went there expecting a nice outside garden. Had to leave promptly, it was a state. Dirty tables and chairs.
