We always use this chip shop when we’re in Borth. Lovely clean chips not swimming in grease and a decent portion for a seaside chip shop. You do have to wait for your order, but that’s ok.

Ordered a pizza, kids chicken nuggets, a curry and chips and a curry and rice, the pizza just looked like a standard frozen pizza you can get from a supermarket, really doughy and stodgy. The kids nuggets was ok, but only had 3 nuggets. The curry and chips was pathetic, was literally just a splattering of rock hard gristly chicken and maybe a tablespoon of ‘sauce’ the curry and rice tastes of nothing and the rice was very undercooked, chicken was just gristle and the sauce was tasteless. There was no one else in front of us and we waited 20-25 mins for our food. All in all wasn’t impressed unfortunately.

My wife and I had fish and chip supper on Friday 16 August and must say service was good but the fish and chips were some the best I have had for some time crispy batter on a good portion of fish along with well cooked chips

Awful. Having to wait 30 minutes for fish and chips is a joke, especially with the amount of staff serving. Instead of cooking everything to order have stuff ready to go, most people who go to a fish and chip shop want fish so makes sense to have it cooked ready! Even after the long wait the food was disappointing - I had mini fish and chips; the portion was tiny and certainly not worth £7.50 or the extremely long wait. I won't be returning.

Gorgeous fish and chips but bit of a wait, nothing awful and it did mean it was cooked fresh! Lovely mushy peas and curry sauce. The bottle bar next door where you can eat your fish and chips and get a beer has a classic rock vibe (think Van Halen and ACDC with loads of photos and album art on the walls).

Had the worst bag of chips EVER in my 50 years of using the Acorn at Borth . They were not freshly cooked and were inedible tried a few then I scattered the rest to the sea gulls Over £6 was a total waste of money , I will have fish and chips next time in one of the pubs there.

Never Again! Ordered fish and chips and was told to wait. Not a problem as it’s best fresh or so I thought. Was told it was ready and took my boxes and drove to Ynyslas. The fish looked fresh cooked but not sure the chips were from last week! Warm at best and tasted as bad as they looked. I like to taste the potato but no chance! Over done and soaked in oil. I just about managed the fish and half a dozen so called chips and the rest went in the bin. I Definitely don’t recommend and won’t be going there again.

Best takeaway gluten free pizza I've had. Veggy supreme cooked to order, deep fresh topping, loads of cheese, absolutely delicious. And great fish and chips too!

Lovely fish and chips. Good value. Pity it is not open during the day at weekends. Only opens fron 5pm till 8pm.

Arrived in plenty of time,went to order 5 large cod n chips,was told there was no chips and that we would have to have what they have left...Great disappointment

Awful service awful food rude staff who dont listen to what you order and state to customers rudely we dont have that no pies no sausages am suprised they have fish or chips. If i stated in front of my cusomers i wanted to be out but 815 id be out of a job .maybe train your staff in how to talk to people

Very disappointed tonight the worst chips i have ever eaten.they seemed to have been reheated they were absolutely disgusting. had to wait a while for my order which i didnt mind but to end up spending 19.05 and end up throwing it in the bin it not acceptable. If i.lived in borth i would of definetly taken them back and asked for a refund .. i will not be returning !!

Best chippy I've had for ages, cooked fresh, not greasy, good size portions, bit of a que but well worth the wait. Service was efficient and lots to choose from the menu

Very nice food. We sat in to eat at The Bottle Bar where we were made to feel very welcome.

Treated myself to a chippy tea tonight. Chips, sausage, onion rings and curry sauce. DELISH!!! Everything was freshly cooked and still piping hot when I got home. The staff are brilliant and there's a great little 'Bottle Bar', next-door where you can have a drink if there's a bit of a wait. Nice 1 to Liz and her team!

Apparently large chips means literally 10 chips, and despite asking for salt and vinegar they didn’t put it on, take a wide birth from this place to anyone visiting Borth

Very disappointed. Google said that this was open. Got there and it was closed. We stayed late specially as we had childcare for the first time in ages. 7.15pm and no available food before the 100 mile journey home.

It was OK, not the best fish and chips ive ever had but it was still good. Great service being attached to the pub next door and being able to wait and eat in the pub made it a great evening quick meal

If I could give 0 stars I would have. Checked on site to makesure they were open and said YES!!! live said busier than usual. Evan though I've got a bad spine my 76 year old mom said she fancied cod which I thought great as she doesn't eat much.. I struggled to walk down there which took 15mins. I got there and it was closed.. I think it's absolutely disgusting that it can say LIVE BUSIER THAN USUAL!!! SO we ended up with a sandwich from the shop..

Great place for delicious fish and chips. The food really was delicious, the chips were perfect just right and the fish and batter was great too. Our son had a fish cake and my partner the Saveloy, which he said was the best he had had in a long while. The added bonus of the dining in area ‘The Bottle Bar’ which also serves alcohol was a great touch! Staff were super friendly and helpful, delivering salt and vinegar to our table- they will also bring your food round for you. The vibes inside were really lovely and I can imagine is really nice in the evening with low lighting, and interesting art work. A great addition to Borth!

Came on holiday to borth and wanted some chips to go with our dinner. They were stoke of the best chips we’ve tried and we could t believe the price!! It was so low! Definitely get value for money here and would definitely recommend as well as definitely returning.

A busy fish and chip shop that had a notice on their window to inform us that there would be a 20-30 minute wait when busy. I think I waited about 10 minutes for three meals, relatively standard prices for a beach side chippy. But the meals we had were amazing! Piping hot food and the fish was done to perfection! Great addition to my families beach trips tradition.

The sign outside says 20-30mins wait. That's until you get to order. Took another 20mins for me to collect my food. £14 for fish, chips, curry sauce and peas and a can of coke. The haddock appeared to be a frozen cutlet put in the fryer yet the batter had the same texture as a soggy fishcake. Half my chips were crunchy fried offcuts, so I only ate the actual chips. Curry sauce and peas were nice and plentiful. Overall the food was so-so. Not worth the wait or the price. Staff are pleasant but inexperienced.

Excellent service and excellent food. I've rang in advance many times and food is ready when I arrive. Staff are great. If in Borth definitely try it and eat on the beach if the weather suits. Great.

Went here twice and both times it was brilliant. Fish was cooked perfectly and chips were excellent. Yes it can get busy but it’s worth the wait.

No complaints here, was no queue when we arrived and were served very promptly - took our food back to our cottage we were staying at a couple of minutes up the road, went down a treat, quite delicious! Nice crispy chips and a decent portion of kebab meat for the money.

The quality of the food was acceptable for the price my only reason for not giving five stars is everybody seem to have quite a wait and considering we went in high season and there were only three people in the shop you think they’ll be able to do a faster service. Long as you are prepared to wait 10 minutes for your food I do recommend this place. (Interestingly the night when I went in all of the other customers were also from the West Midlands it was most amusing)

Lovely chippy. Bought some chicken nuggets and chips to enjoy as the sun set over the sea. Very crisp and enjoyable chips and nuggets. May have to say its some of the best I've had.

Made a visit today after several previous visits on our holiday. Food is very tasty :) The staff today in particular have done amazing! Got back to find a bag full of sweets for our daughter, a very generous thing to do, thankyou! You made one little girl very happy 😊

Customer service NOT FOOD!!!! Sorry we’re closed 7.45 but says open till 8pm???? Lady turned us away I have used this chip shop many times & my family March to October!!! 1 bag of chips is all we wanted cannot understand why we were treated this way . I wouldn’t do this to anybody specially when they can serve as they was busy in the restaurant.And no where else to go !!!

Lively food big portions and was quickly dealt with.

Good price for a large chips, but not as large as I get elsewhere. However, the chips were very tasty. Will be going back soon

Waited 30 mins for very greesy chips lots of hard bits of chips ...I was given chips in a bag even though I was having mushy peas on them . Served by what seemed to be school girls not really sure of what they were doing . Put me off fish and chips for long time ....just horrible and very over priced

I'm not going to sugar coat this review. I paid £12 each for 2 12 inch margarita pizzas... So what you say, that's not a bad price? I would agree, if I hadn't waited 30 minutes to be served 2 frozen pizzas that had simply been cooked for me... Unfortunately I only realised this after I got back else I would've demanded a refund. Absolute joke! A side note, the chips were horrid and curry sauce tasted like nothing I've ever tasted before (that's not a compliment) If I were you I'd definitely avoid this place!

A fabulous fish and chip shop. Seafront prices, but well worth it. I go here everytime I'm in the Borth area.

Unfortunately was left waiting for chips and cheese and cod and chips for way longer than anybody else who had ordered after us. Half an hour or more for some standard overpriced chips isnt what we want 😂. Feel bad giving it a low rating but got to be done or nothing will change. Id say i couldve driven to Aberdyfi and finished my chips before they even started packing our chips up.

Good chippy, was staying on holiday park near by, we went there for some food and took it back to caravan, prices are responsible and quality of food was nice and tasted fresh. Don't know why there trying to enforce covid rules still though

Ordered, paid, got raffle ticket, waited whilst cooking done, number called and enjoyed the best Borth fish and chips this year. Order full sized portions if you are hungry. Take it next door and buy your bottle of drink too.

Would not recommend this chippy had a haddock fish from here and it made me really unwell

Loverly owner perfect chips and a wide range of meals done on premises from curry, Chilli and pizza own made aswell as fish and chips and all you get at a chippy. Loverly staff and polite cold drinks aswell. Also bar open during licensing fab well worth a visit.

Beautiful chips great choices 3🌟 price is high when portions are small even when ordering large otherwise I would have given 5🌟 one thing was missing which was chicken tikka and Donna kebab meat option

Lovely fish and chips, even had a slice of lemon on the fish. Batter was tasty and light, crisps had a crunch. Portion size quite small on the chips, but fish and sausages were a good size. Meals appeared to be made fresh as there was a delay and you have to wait outside to collect your order. Strong covid restrictions in place. Lots of choice too including pizza and curries.

WOW! The portions were nice and big, a little pricey, but otherwise perfect. The chips were nice and thick, and they even provided a whole bottle of ketchup. Fish and Chips were made fresh and its right by the sea!

Absolutely fantastic. My husband and I had a portion of chips each and some veggie nuggets. Both were delicious! We would recommend.

Lovely little place. Nice staff and quick turn around. The chips are very large cut which is excellent. Very tastey. Just don't make the mistake I did and order a large for yourself, its a lot!

Queued for a long time for what we hoped would be fish and chips on the beach; unfortunately there were four (very drunk) people waiting and leaning on the front window for their fish and chip order and one of the men was so drunk he lost control of himself and proceeded to wet himself right in front of the entrance and everyone queuing. Disturbing as it was before we were about to eat we decided it was better not to queue near him or the group any longer and move on. It was early evening on a hot summery Sunday in broad daylight with families and children around. Clearly some people will take money from anyone for an order.

Placed a large group order in advance, The Acorn were incredibly accommodating helpful and the food was brilliant... big portions and great quality. Ready on time as arranged and couldn't be more helpful... thoroughly recommend 👌

Small portions, pricey and the food was only average

Great food and so close to the beach - there's nothing quite like fish and chips and the beach. We visited twice and had good food both times, but 2nd time they messed up our order a little, and then wouldn't fix the problem, hence only 4 stars.

Love this chippy, I come all the way from mid Wales just to get chips from here and enjoy a day on the beach etc.

Was very friendly had a couple of american friends visit and the acorn were very accommodating.
