As a Thai food lover , I find the food here is very authentic , especially impressed by the chicken satay , it is juicy. Also the coconut chicken soup , it makes me feel like I am in Thailand. 👍Recommend this restaurant to those Thai food lovers.

We were the only people at 9pm on a Saturday, but the food was excellent.

I've been ordering here for a while and usually I love it but today ordered a duck dish that was clearly not fresh and tasted off

Came in alone as hungry after an early evening meeting with client over beers and it was really nice. Smiling and quick service. Thai beef curry, the meat was in large chunks that fell apart when you looked at them! And lots of it. Great flavours. Freezing cold Singha beer was lovely. Really great. Will be back with my wife and friends very soon. Lots of bikes coming and going outside from regulars ordering at home. A popular place.

I needed to eat having been out early evening with friends and had heard good things about this place so popped along at 930 on a Monday night. Very warm welcome and had a large Singha beer (which was pleasingly ice cold) then had some gorgeous food. The main was large chunks of beef that fell apart on the fork - in a lovelty sauce, and the portion was plentiful. What a great restaurant. The best Pad Thai I have ever had in the UK, I would say. The food is brilliant.

Ordered from Thai Upon Thames for delivery on a Sunday evening. I was disappointed to say the least. The amount of prawns to curry was very little for £15.50, the consistency of the green curry was extremely runny and had not been reduced at all!! All of the food was warm. Very very disapointing.

Awful food & the smell from the toilets area, next to the kitchen is of sewerage.. made me heave.. never again..sorry

Very pleased to have got a table in here. The team couldn't have done more to make sure we were happy and we both felt very well looked after, even though they were full. Great atmosphere and the food was superb! All homemade as far as we could tell and some great variations on the "standard" Thai fare you might get. Sharing platter was so varied and so tasty and Lamb Massaman was just gorgeous. Huge portions - I couldn't finish my lamb. Thank you for looking after us so well - we will be back!

Visited here for a birthday dinner and the food was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere was amazing and they even brought out free dessert while singing happy birthday! Would definitely recommend to everyone!!!

We ordered a delivery. Delivery was fine but honestly the most tasteless Thai food we have ever had. Extremely disappointing. We don’t often order takeaway and wished we had spent our money elsewhere. I would like to know why there are so many positive recommendations.

All round super meal and service. The prawn toast had actual prawns in it which was a first for me! Only gave ambience a 4 as we ate early at lunchtime and the restaurant was quiet so hard to score on ambience.

My partner booked this restaurant for my birthday and although quite quiet it was absolutely wonderful! This is a family run business and all of the wait staff were so attentive - when asking about vegetarian options they gave me a separate menu and even said that if there was a meat dish I liked the look of then they would make it fresh for me with tofu! My dish was delicious and the tofu was so flavourful and a wonderful texture, even my partner who isn't a fan normally said he absolutely loved it! We also got spring rolls which were delicious and served with a different sauce than the usual sweet chilli which was a lovely change. My partner opted for the pork belly and said it was cooked perfectly, tender meat and crispy skin, beautifully seasoned. Both dishes were also served with rice which was lovely. We also got a bottle of prosecco which was reccomended to us and absolutely did not disappoint! They also very kindly brought out a delicious coconut icecream with a candle for my birthday which was such a lovely treat and truly made me feel special. This is such a hidden gem, don't be dissuaded if it seems a little empty, more people need to discover this place, and it's important to support an independent business! We will definitely be back, thank you all for making my day so special!

Waitresses were friendly and looked after us. We ordered the hot pot, as well as the green curry which I recommend. We were so impressed with the food and service we ordered a takeaway later that week.

Horrible experience! The restaurant kept on serving the food for deliveries. We have been waiting our main dishes for almost 1.5 hours.

Very disappointing experience. Why there is no option for me to leave ZERO star for this restaurant. When you saw the shop manager keep sent out the Deliveroo food but you sat on your place and waiting your main dish for 1 hour 20 minutes? I don’t think you will be happy. Food finally come after 1 hour 25 mins when we keep chasing. Food was too salty and too spicy. I ate many Thai food, this was the worst food I ever try before. At the end the manager did not come to apologize to us, not even said a word to us. I am sure I won’t come to this restaurant again.

OMG Fantastic amazing food, I was going to order my usual red or green curry but the owner said I should try another dish and boy was he right, lots of flavours-superb. So nice to find a real taste of Thailand outside of Thailand, a lot of place try but don't succeed -ko cun trap

Food is hit and miss at this restaurant. It depends on who is in the kitchen I guess. At times I have had great food in here but today, had to mention it if they are up for a constructive feedback from their local regular customer. The pork in black bean sauce was too salty and sweet. No black bean taste at all just brown colour runny water. Rice portion was too small as well. Lovely helpful staff and the manager though but I feel that the kitchen staff/chef on duty today have no idea of what an authentic pukka Thai curry tastes like, I’m afraid.

We were visiting Richmond from the US and found this gem. The Lamb Massaman Roti was superb! As was the Chicken with Basil and Garlic. If you are in the area, go dine in, you will not regret it.

Excellent, the pad thai is the best I've had.

Ordered takeaway. Whole thing was a mess and delivered very leaked. Ordered a £8 soup which is basic and small portioned. The Thai green curry was very runny, not creamy textured at all. It was too sweet. Rice portion is small too. It was not worth £40. Probably won’t recommend or return.

thursday night about 7.30 the place had no customers. order our starters and mains. 5 mins later ribs came out, picked up the smallest one and found it still partially frozen and all the others were cold too. had a slight appoligy. did not bother risking the fish curry.

Everything is salty, including kids meals. My kid couldn't have it all because it was too salty.

Food was fine and just a little too expensive.

This is basically a take away shop with some tables out front. Constant Uber eats orders in and out. Phones constantly going. Tom Yam Soup was just boiled water mushrooms and 4 packet frozen prawns & coriander and 1 whole red chilli. No shells or tails on. No lemongrass. No flavour. Like a home made pot noodle. Beef Salad was like leather. Sesame Chilli chicken was like a microwave meal. With over cooked congealed rice. It’s about as authentic as the character Ting Tong.

Best Thai I’ve had in the UK, and up there with the best in Thailand. Just a shame that it’s inundated with Deliveroo orders, making restaurant service so slow. However, it was worth the wait…

The food at Thai on Thames is consistently superb - a real hidden gem in Richmond. Can’t recommend it highly enough. The restaurant itself is spartan and plain….but you can’t say that about the food!

Delicious slow-cooked pork belly, beautifully presented. The dessert was a perfect way to end the meal: coconut ice cream, with a delicious soft rice and exotic fruit. A Thai restaurant where the menu rewards ordering outside the ordinary green curry - trying something different here will surprise and delight you.

Post Rugby International dinner, lovely venue and food was excellent !

Although my meal was lovely it wasn’t actually what I ordered as the was a mix up. The three meals we had were all very good and the service was attentive. It did get very busy around 8.00 as it was match day at Twickenham and it was clear that they needed the table so we offered to eat quickly and leave. I would have though that getting the wrong meal and being hurried might have reflected in some good will gesture - but sadly it didn’t.

The place was fantastic,quality food,reasonably priced,my only advice is don't be sat by the door as we was,constantly opening with all the delivery drivers picking up take away,did have notice on the door outside saying pick up point here,no one listened,staff didn't tell them either(disappointing)over all I would return again

My partner and I were having a mini break to the area to watch rugby. We wanted to go out for dinner rather than stay in hotel - I searched the best places to eat and saw the great reviews for Thai on the Thames, we love Thai food so we booked. The food was fabulous, absolutely delicious. The restaurant was very busy for take away and deliveroos however my partner and I were the only people seated in the restaurant. This meant what was lacking in ambience was made up for by service, the owner even came to chat with us a while, totally recommend a meal here and at a loss to explain why it was so quiet on a Saturday night !!!

We ate here before an England rugby international at Twickenham. I was early and my friend was late. I was well looked after and treated while I waited. Once we ordered, the food came quickly, despite the small restaurant being busy, and was excellent. Portions are reasonable but the flavours were fantastic. I will definitely be returning.

Thai Upon Thames Twickenham If your thinking of eating at this place, do yourself a favour and just walk/drive pass it It’s proper Garbage Me and my partner had went here on her birthday and was so disappointed with the food, I had sesame chicken and she had mixed seafood and believe me I can’t stress how rubbish it was and to top things off both meals were tasted like salt and nothing else, decent size portion but I’d rather a small portion that would leave a good but not bad taste in my mouth Also I think the waiter knew it was no good because he stood at the bar/till area staring at me and my partner looking away every time our eyes made four lol God loves a trier lmfao

I was going to Thai Upon Thames on the last evening of my parents' visit. The service was very good, we were served by a very friendly waiter, who understood our food preferences and also concerns about potentially too spicy cuisine. The served food was very tasty and the atmosphere was nice!

I ordered food from This place as a take away last Saturday on my break and work. I ordered chicken satay skewers, red Thai Curry and Sticky rice. I ended up with food poisoning, the red curry was more like yellow curry and was not the best, I didn’t even it all I threw it in the bin anyway before I felt Ill. I had to leave work early as I was Ill with the food and because I work in hospitality I had to be off work for 48 hours because of the diarrhoea. Therefore not only did I get sick but also lost pay. I complained to Deliveroo about this and they just said sorry and said we will refund you the money you paid and they would contact the restaurant. Up until now I haven’t heard back from Deliveroo or the restaurant. I think when hospitality especially has been hit hard from the pandemic we need to try and keep customers and put things right. I am very disappointed with the restaurant as well as Deliveroo.

I enjoyed the food, the presentation and the lovely atmosphere, they stayed open and waited for us even though it was late and welcomed us very warmly. I will be visiting again when I'm next in Richmond.

the restaurant accommodated our late booking (not many options for 22:30, after a theatre performance) and stayed opened late for the four of us - very appreciated! food was very good, service impeccable, the owner very welcoming.

They refused to deliver to me citing that the delivery driver said 'I was too far away' - I live 2 miles away from the restaurant and their menu says 'Delivery free within 2 miles.' The women on the phone agreed with me that this was silly but that there was nothing she could do as the delivery driver refused to go. Aweful service.

Passed on Sunnisa for a change of scene on our Thai delivery last week and thought a restaurant in Richmond/St.M would be a good call. It wasn't. Satays had barely enough chicken to cover the stick hence the meat was dried out and unpleasant. A tiny pot of sauce and all for £6.85 Green curry was a shade of green I've never seen before. Dulux might be interested to take a look. Taste was ok but it didn't look appetising. Other dishes did not do much to balance the disappointments out so we won't order from here again. Overall, very expensive for what it was: poor standard take out food at restaurant prices.

Food was delicious especially vegetable tempura and chicken cashew. Generous portions. Very gentle respectful service. You can really relax here in pleasant surroundings. Double door so no bolts of cold air in the winter!

I was shocked at how greasy my dish was. The fish was very fatty and a had to spit out several mouthfuls. For the price this was terrible value for money. What a disappointing meal. Very underwhelmed.

I can't believe how few reviews this place has got. This is some of the nicest Thai food I’ve had recently. I was feeling lazy one evening so decided to treat myself and order in. I had the crispy pork belly starter and the lamb massaman curry with some coconut rice, both were brilliant but the starter was absolutely delicious! Mouth-wateringly good, the pork belly was both perfectly fatty (in a good way!) but crispy, and the lamb massaman deliciously soft, tender and flavoursome. The prices were good and everything arrived promptly and packaged well. I will definitely be eating from here again and I can’t wait until it’s back open properly again.

I ordered a takeaway here (delivery was fast) expecting the same quality as they had in Kingston in 2019 but it was honestly tragic. Ordered a fried rice and chicken satay. Chicken satay had blonde hair in it. Fried rice was extremely bland (esp the added chicken). Kingston's fried rice was really good, I am cambodian so I know how thai/khmer food should taste like and the fried rice should be very similar to each other. Kingston was authentic, like street food fried rice. This tasted like nothing, you can tell from the lack of colour (should have more bc of the dark soy sauce). Overall not very happy about the TWICKENHAM branch. Perhaps other meals are better but this was TERRIBLE, especially from a person who's southeast asian.

Rubbish! I had red curry with tofu which was watered down and no vegetable other than a load of pepper! Husband ordered a green chicken curry which was watery and tasteless. Very very disappointing. Will never order again. Not even worth one star

Ordered their food through Deliveroo and it turned out to be quite disappointing especially the Tom Yum soup. It’s just basically a soup with some Shrimps on it and mushroom and that’s it. Not a lot of vegetables.

Disappointing experience. Food without character, just a bunch of ingredients thrown together with some salty sauce. Small portions. Completely overpriced for what you get. Worst Thai dinner I ever had.

Ordered a takeaway - was told it would take 45 minutes but maybe an hour. Left it for an hour and 15 minutes and phoned to ask where the takeaway was the response I got was 'it hasn't been made yet' when I then- yet again politely asked- would it be here in the next 15 to 30 minutes the response was ' fingers crossed....'. My wife and I have been have meals in the restaurant for years - pre it burning down and post it burning down. Will be picking other options from here on it.

Phoned up and the phone was answered straight away in a Friday evening. The lamb Massaman was packed with a rich flavour and the meat just pulled apart, and it melted in my mouth. Very efficient lady taking the order on the phone and the delivery driver also seemed lovely. Will definitely be ordering again.

Thai upon Thames is a little oasis that will really tantalise your taste buds. Great authentic Thai Cuisine served by caring Thai staff.

As a group of 4 we was running approx. 30 mins late, rang ahead, Restuarant was full with lots of people with the same plan, pre England - Wales meal, even though, food and service was excellent, I have no hesitation in recommending Thai Upon Thames.

Lovely place, nice food, friendly staff.

We went there to dinner on Monday evening on our way from work. I just randomly picked the closest Thai place on Open Table without thinking too much as we were super hungry. The food was absolutely beautiful and faultless, pretty reasonable in price too. The restaurant had very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere and we were looked after with lots of care. Thank you very much for a pleasant experience and wonderful food! :)

We work and live nearby and love our Asian food. There are 4 other Thai restaurants in Richmond. None of them come anywhere close to this one in terms of the quality of the food, the presentation of the food and the general ambience. Mr Kim who serves the food is a bit quiet but would be willing to go an extra mile to make you feel happy. Hidden Gem!

Definitely the best Thai food in the area, we are regulars here and can’t fault the cooking or the service - particularly from our favourite waiter Kem.

Having lived in the area for 30 years, we’ve tried a lot of local restaurants and this continues to be one of our favourites for the whole family. The food, the ambience and the service are all excellent. Especially important for us as a family is the fact that it’s an ambient space that is not loud and hectic - it has good acoustics for hearing everyone at your table but thankfully not beyond it (as is the problem with many other restaurants). The food is always fresh, delicious, generous and well flavoured and the head waiter is really welcoming, on the ball and kind. Highly recommend!

A spontaneous lunch after a Thai massage around the corner. Never been here but was glad we tried it. Although it was quiet, it was Sunday and late so we weren’t expecting anything too spectacular but we were pleasantly surprised. Our food was fresh, plentiful and so delicious. We will definitely be here!
