I have passed by this restaurant several times when visiting St andrews, was so excited to finally try it today, I was so disappointed as the restaurant looked busy, I feel that the chicken for the satay was butterflied to within an inch of its life and then skewered onto a larger sized toothpick, the prawn toast appeared to be a small petit pain cut into four with more sesame than prawn, the Thai green curry was a very thin sauce with a miniscule amount of chicken some mixed veg two slices of red chilli, it seemed more of a soup than a curry and rice is not included in the price of this which is disappointing, the other tables round about us seemed to have much larger portions, the beer was the best part of the dining experience, it was also pretty draughty in the restaurant, found it extremely overpriced for what was served

Absolutely horrible ridiculous less portions, portions sizes are Absolutely ridiculous. Shouldn't be in business charging these prices for the small portions they serve. Chickens are cut into paper strip sizes. Aviod at all costs. Service is not great and very cold. Surprisingly had a few tables in for some reason.

I don't know if it was because I was hungry, but I thought the food was quite delicious. I ordered traditional fried noodles, Tom Yum Goong soup, beef curry and chicken wings. The chicken wings were a bit inferior, but everything else was OK.

Service quality will vary depending on your skin colour. Full on ignored intentionally at one point by a male server who was actively looking to see if any customers needed help (looked straight at me asking for help then rushed into the kitchen when he saw me), wasn’t served until I had to follow up myself. After recieving the mango sticky rice (the most expensive dessert on the menu) after an eternity of waiting, was pleased to open my takeaway box to find a meal for ants.

Busy Thai restaurant in the city centre, we were lucky to get a table without a booking on a weekday evening in Feb. Full of students and locals, good atmosphere. Food delicious with usual Thai favourites. Friendly staff with fast service. A bit confusing on Google maps - seems to have 2 names.

Only cash is accepted for items under 20 pounds. If you don't bring cash, you will be asked to buy something up to 20 pounds before you can pay with your card. Everyone understands They don't accept card payments, unless you pay for more than £20. When they know you don't bring enough cash to pay less than 20, they will ask you buy more food to meet this number. The girl in the reception seems rude, only smiling at European faces.

Had the opportunity to visit St. Andrew. and passed this shop by accident. I didn't think there would be a Thai restaurant in this city. But unfortunately it's not time to open the shop yet, so I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Next time I have a chance to support you.

Came to Thai Pop Up for a vegetarian meal but an hour after opening they had no tofu. I got the panang curry with no protein and still had to pay for the protein. The curry was small and not good. My friend ordered the pad Thai and is still experiencing stomach pain.

Ordered a takeaway to find a total of 3 small thin pieces of chicken, and thin single layer of veg. Not a portion for one person and nothing like shown in some of the review photos. Returned it. I think they accepted it was not enough but insistent on serving another portion only. I could not wait and asked for refund. Tried to fob me off with £5 because I had 'taken it home.' No apology. No smiling service. Strange, very busy dining area, why would you do that? Held out and received refund eventually. Disappointed.

This a Thai restaurant most suitable for the uninitiated palate to Asian flavours. We came as a party of three people and left unsatisfied. Our order comprised of two starters that were very paltry in portion and three ramen noodle soup that resembled nothing of the rich flavour profiles typical in Thai cuisine. Nary a taste of garlic, lemongrass, or galangal, much less offerings of hot sauces. I would have been quite happy with a bottle of Sriracha at this point, but no heat to be had. The only thing they offered for adding spiciness was chili flakes that were not at all hot. I really wanted to like this place, but ‘disappointing’ would be an understatement and after anticipating the tastiness of Thai herbs and spices, my taste buds left hangry. We went home and ate leftovers. Spending £73 for a sub-par meal is not my idea of eating out. I’ll give this place a hard pass.

We have been here a few times. Usually busy but food arrives fairly quickly. We usually order a bunch of dishes to share. Food tastes good though we wouldn’t say they are the most authentic Thai. But I think it works for the customer base here. Appetizers are only 4 pieces so I was hardly able to take any photos before they are snapped up! The Gyozas and fried rice are our best items tonight. We are glad that the Pad Thai did not come with tomato sauce as they often do in the US. Would have been great if server brought plates seeing that we are sharing our dishes. We had to ask several times.

I have visited several times, but this is the first time I've experienced racial discrimination from three Thai waitresses. We are Asian. When I placed my order, waitress A served me with a cold and indifferent attitude. When my friend asked for four bowls because we ordered noodle soup and it would be hard to use plates, waitress A immediately showed displeasure in serving us, putting the bowls down with a sour face and leaving right away. I then noticed several times that waitress A was smiling and cheerful while serving white customers. One of the dishes had carrots that were clearly sour and spoiled. We asked waitress A to replace it, but she pretended not to understand and repeatedly asked what we wanted. I had to insist that she replace it. Then, waitress B handed me the food very close to my face, startling me and making me feel uncomfortable. When paying, I handed the money to waitress C. I believe everyone, regardless of their position, deserves respect. Waitress C returned the change with some force, placing it on the table for me to pick up myself. I felt truly disrespected and experienced racial discrimination. I admire their teamwork, and if they could apply this unity to providing good service and respecting others, I would consider coming back. The food is really good, but sometimes the weather is very hot this week, and I understand the kitchen can be very busy. Mistakes can be forgiven, but I cannot tolerate racial discrimination!

My mum goes to the Thai pop up all the time and really likes it so i decided to go for the first time, i ordered the tom yum soup and didn’t even eat one bite as there was a hair in my food, the green curry doesn’t come with rice??? when my mum asked about it the lady serving us had not a very nice attitude and then not even 5 minutes later a table near us was trying to order the Thai green curry and was told it didn’t come with rice ( when we ordered it wasn’t said.) partway into our meal a one of the servers came up to our table asking how our food was my mum started to say that we weren’t very happy but the lady had just turned her back on my mum and left. Really disappointing considering how much my mum was raving about how good this place was. The mango sticky rice is good though.

Me and my fiance went to this place with high hopes. We LOVE Thai food and ordered lots of stuff. The starters were really good even though we have practically finished by the time we got drinks. My soup smelled sour, coconut cream curdled, it smelled of cheese so we sent it back. The waitress said it was OK and should smell like this. In the end we went to pay, and they firstly put the soup on the receipt. We said we don't want to pay because it stunk. The ladies spoke in Thai, didn't apologise, took it off the receipt and then when we paid they gave us the option to give them tips. No way I am leaving tips in that restaurant. Shame.

Quick service and yummy food. We had fish cakes, sweet corn fritters, curry chicken, and a combo dish. They all tasted hot and yummy. But the portion was small, making this place somewhat expensive. Last time I had a takeout and the portion was small too.

Thai Pop Up is one of the best spots in St Andrews for someone looking for a bit of colour on their plate after a few too many steak & ale pies or fish and chips entrées. We really enjoyed our Pad Thai and Green Curry, the dishes were fresh and flavourful. Thanks!

Wow, what a perfect Thai restaurant! We were astonished to find a cheap food that is this high quality in a posh town like St Andrews. We went for green and red curry, vegetable gyozas (so crunchy!) and a Thai milk tea with boba. Everything was so delicious!!

I came here after reading the recommendation from Xiaohongshu~ To be honest, I recommend it to people who have never been to Thailand or eaten Thai food~ The tom yum soup is made from powder. Maybe there are insufficient raw materials. There is no lemongrass or chili. The taste cannot be said to be the same as the local Thai one. It can only be said to be completely different. Okay~ Let’s experience the other dishes by yourself.

Hidden away on the charming outskirts of St. Andrews, Scotland, lies a family-run Thai restaurant that offers a culinary journey straight to the heart of Southeast Asia. The menu displayed an array of tantalizing dishes, and we started our Thai escapade with the fried squid. Despite being slightly on the expensive side for a starter, the squid's perfect marination and sublime frying technique justified the cost. It was a scrumptious introduction to what was to come. The main course was a gastronomical triumph. We savored the pork kaprow paired with fried egg rice, an aromatic ensemble that transported our taste buds straight to the bustling street markets of Thailand. The dish was a spicy delight, offering just the right level of heat for a stimulating kick without overpowering the intricate layers of flavor. The innovative fusion of Thai flavors with a Japanese favorite was evident in their Tom Kha Ramen. It presented a creamy soup, brimming with the tangy tamarind undertones that masterfully balanced the dish's overall saltiness. Their Tom Yum Ramen followed suit but lacked the expected spicy note. Yet, it would be an absolute treat for those who enjoy the flavor profile of Tom Yum soup without its characteristic fiery punch. What impressed us the most was the generous portions of seafood and noodles in both ramen dishes. Each spoonful was a hearty mix of texture and taste, making them a good value for money. In conclusion, this hidden gem in St. Andrews is a standout in the realm of Thai cuisine. With its delightful food, charming atmosphere, and attentive service, it has become my go-to Thai destination. I eagerly anticipate making many more trips to this establishment to sample the rest of their mouthwatering menu.

We had the perfect lunch here. The starters were absolutely gorgeous. The pork sunrise was especially good! We followed with the fruity duck curry and pad se ew. Both were extremely flavourful and well portioned. It’s not the cheapest lunch on the street but the quality was so high it’s more than worth the price. I’d happily pay more than we did. Highly recommend the iced green tea which is so sweet and complements spice fantastically. I’m definitely planning on coming back.
