What an amazing place. Staff super friendly food amazing but make sure you gave nothing to eat all day as there is a lot of food. Restaurant is small so you need to book they squeezed us in as we were tourists. Definitely going back the next time we’re in Preston. If you haven’t been definitely try it but remember to book

If you want authentic Thai food, great service, a cosy atmosphere, I couldn't recommend Thai Orchard enough. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The portions of food are very big and we had to bring some home, but we aren't complaining, as it means we get to eat the amazing food all over again! The vegetable spring rolls and satay chicken starters are the best we've had. The pad thai was a huge portion and it was delicious. Can't stress how incredible the food is and can't wait to go back. Best Thai food I've had outside and even in Thailand!

The positives; My partners Massaman Curry was tasty as was the noodles. We could overhear other tables raving about their orders too, which makes me believe we just were unlucky this night perhaps. Negatives; Pork spare ribs were still frozen in the center. Knowing that they were precooked and reheated was off putting in itself. Obviously the staff were apologetic and it wasn’t the waiters fault. We did get some prawn crackers as compensation and the ribs knocked off our bill. The Thai red curry was bland and swimming with oil, I barely touched it so we shared the beef massaman , noodles & rice. Disappointing considering the reviews are so good but doubt I would return to try the place again.

Wow been visiting this restaurant for the past 25 years and am never disappointed. The food is as good as ever. The hot and spicy soup is surreal, the starters are so gorgeous and recommend the vegetable noodles along with the Pork in Thai green curry. We took what was left home and it was just as good for tea the day after. Staff are wonderful too and the chef! Wow she always provides generous portions of deliciousness.

Went Thai Orchid on 25/2/23 with my family - friendly place - only open on friday and saturdays so may be the reason was we were the only customers there- great concept as we got all the attention The food was super yummy. The startes were 10/10 - However the mains came and 4 out of the 5 dishes were cooked with scotch bonnet chillis - super super hot - they were kind ly offered to replace all of the food- but we declined and they offered extra drinks. If you go make sure you ask for the spice level you can take just in case. 5 star for the tastiness of the food Hema and family

Thai food is always my chosen cuisine when dining out so with having the Thai orchid on my doorstep i knew i have to give it a go. It looks dated outside and you question whether it is open or not but don't be put off by this, it is part of it's charm, you will see. The decor is also quite dated, a bit like your nana's living room but the waitresses are in traditional dress which i think is a wonderful touch. The food is gorgeous, i have to say that the Thai Orchid's satay chicken is the best i've had! The portion sizes are large so make sure you don't eat much throughout the day. You can take anything you don't manage to eat with you as they package it all up if you like. I organised a Christmas meal here i liked the food so much. They kept in very good communication with me when planning and set the reastaurant out so it would accommodate my party of 14. All my clients loved it and are keen to try more thai food.

Went for one of the banquets and can quite honestly say we were not disappointed by any of it. Beautiful, clean and tasty food and well presented. Not expensive and not over facing (amounts are just the right size) even though we asked to take some home. There's a really good choice of food suitable for all, even caters for people with food intolerances. Would definitely visit again. Food was fantastic! One of the best Thai restaurants I've ever been to. Girl at the door was in traditional dress, gave me a traditional greeting and could not have been more helpful or courteous throughout. Yes - as many of the other reviews say, this place needs some better promotion and better decor, it's outdated admittedly, but the food makes the scenery completely irrelevant! We had fish spring rolls, fish patties and chicken thai meatballs to start - my father had pad thai and I had prawn cashew with soft noodles for mains. Drinks prices are reasonable. Definitely visit this place you will not be disappointed! It's quirky and needs work but at the end of the day, you go to a restaurant for the food! and for that it's 5 out of 5. I booked a table here for a celebration. Booking the table was not the easiest as often we got no answer however we stuck at it and managed to get booked in. The restaurant is quite small and very homely, I have to agree with another poster it was a little like sitting in a friends front room. We saw two members of staff and they left us to it and attended to us when required. The Thai lady was very friendly and welcoming and reflected the kind and courteous mannerisms I experienced when visiting Thailand. She was helpful and advised us on the dishes. The young blonde lady was also friendly and quick to sort us out when we needed a top up on our drinks. We drank a very well priced bottle of Lindauer and couldn't grumble with it at all. It's not often you find this quality at the right price. I will definitely be going back for more, and hope its still on the menu. The sparkling wine list was a little sparse and I believe the addition of a well priced CAVA and Champagne would be well received, quite achievable with the offers in the supermarkets. Food wise we went for two different banquets, the soup was excellent and the starters went down well. Some of the items didn't cater to everyone's tastes however that's to be expected. I tried all the starters and all of them where nicely cooked and packed with flavour. Our mains came out and kept coming and again I enjoyed all the meals and it was nice to try the different dishes. We ordered an additional Sweet and sour dish and even with five of us eating we had enough to take out. Some of the reviews on here did worry me however now I have visited I will definitely be going back. Big thanks to the team can't wait to come back. :-)

OK. So the decor is dated (not in a particularly bad way; it just needs a spruce up). And there was some confusion over the wine list. My wife ordered a glass of house wine and chose one listed under 'house wine' only to be told she had picked one from the 'available by the bottle, only' list which meant we had to drink the bottle. This wasn't planned but the bottle was reasonably priced and was quite quaffable. Just something to be aware of.However, the food was excellent and very reasonably priced - a big plate of spare ribs to start with followed by yellow chicken curry and sticky rice - yum. Very full afterwards! This was on a Friday night - no need to book and the restaurant only had 2-3 other tables in use. It may have got busier later on but being tucked away down a side street does it no favours. The Thai Orchid is also only open Thurs-Sat evenings due to the 'economic climate' but we will certainly requent it again in future.

A group of us went here one evening for the first time- we uknow it or Preston. It was recommended by others but it really needs to know some things. My starter was horrible - tempura vegetables which was heavily battered & deep fried. Others who had meat dishes seemed to enjoy theirs. The green curry was good be it was very strong on the chillies! It spoilt the flavour. The funny thing was they wouldn't give us a jug of water! It was so unusual that we couldn't stop laughing- quietly. The poor waitress said her boss wouldn't let her give customers tap water? So we had to buy a jug of bottled water- they didn't even just give us the bottle but poured half of it out into a jug! The other thing is that it really needs redecorating - it was like sitting in some old closed-down hotel restaurant & very drab.

When entering the building it looks evident that it's a venture in its naiscant stages, but this should not put you off because they have decorated it tastefully and obviously in accordance with thai traditions - and it provides very elegant and pleasant surroundings. I went shortly after opening time so it's difficult to pass comment on the speed of service as I was the only one in, but the staff were dressed in what would appear to be a traditional dress which I thought was a brilliant little touch. As for the food, the menu is extensive to cater for all tastes as well as providing banqueting options to get a taste of everything. When looking for a place to eat, Thai food is always a gamble. Pounding the streets if Preston for a restaurant my other half and I chanced upon the rather unassuming front of the 'Orchid and having read poor reviews previously were about to leave when we were overcome with a 'what the hell' attitude. Decor could truly be worked on, especially the shopfront and entrance, which are rather shabby in appearance. We went on a Saturday night so were surprised to find only two other tables were taken throughout the course of the evening. The quiet music added to the slightly eerie atmosphere so I wouldn't advise any first dates etc here.Service was reasonable, with the two lads obviously doing their best but when asked what they might recommend were unable to answer satisfactorily. The menu is awfully presented with small photos apparently dotted wherever the designer felt like it, most dishes have 'another favourite!!!' or 'very tasty' or some other quip beside them which I personally feel is a less than classy touch. However the food the menu fails so dramatically to represent was extremely good. The Chicken satay starter was cooked to perfection with a thick curried peanut sauce that -while different- was delightful. My partners soup looked equally delicious. The beef yellow curry for main was heavy and thickly spiced but not too hot. Coupled with a bowl of rice however was more than I could eat. While lacking in finesse the meal was extremely satisfactory. I have never taken a doggy-bag home from a restaurant before but the sheer amount of food left by two people was enormous. OverallThe meal came to 50GBP for two courses for two people inc. drinks. Not the classiest of places around but certainly not deserving the poor reports it recieved previously. If I had to go back again I wouldn't complain.

We were nearly put off by the fact that other reviews have been less glowing recently and were a bit worried that perhaps through having to cut down on costs they had compromised on food quality but we saw no sign of it.We both loved our mains - although when the menu says hot it does mean it! My starter of fish cakes I found not quite to my taste but my partner had the tempura vegetables which were perfectly cooked and clearly extremely fresh. For two starters, two mains, two lemonades and one beer we paid £35. Everything was beautifully cooked and fresh, and the meat was decent quality, not fatty or grisly. As a previous reviewer said, my lemonade came in a can (with a glass) but as it was only £1 I really don't care! The decor is out-dated but clean. Service was friendly and just how I want it - the waiters kept an eye on us from a distance and came over as soon as eye contact was made when I wanted them but otherwise didn't hover. For me, although you can nit pick this restaurant did all the important things right; friendly service, quality food cooked with skill and obvious care and reasonable prices. I would definitely recommend and visit again.

I was do disappointed with our food I'm afraid!!! The mixed starter was so greasy and it could have jut been bought from a supermarket for all I knew. The main meal was of takeaway standard and we left most of it. There was no atmosphere at all but I have to say the lady working there was lovely!

We called last night for a 'posh' take away - we were celebrating so wanted something nice but couldn't be fussed with eating out. It has to be said that it isn't cheap - but it is so tasty and fresh and we would definately go again. The mixed starters give you a good selection from the menu and everything is cooked with fresh ingredients to authentic thai recipies. They were absolutely delicious and would have made a great meal on their own! For the mains we went for a chicken red thai curry which was so tasty and fresh, and a beef, basil and chilli main which was unusual but again so tasty with fresh ingredients. It's such a shame that this place seems so quiet and overlooked as the food and service (when we collected our meals) were fantastic. The lady there was so sweet and it's obvious that they really care about serving quality food to their customers. Overall i'd say if you fancy a change from the usual chippies and chinese take aways, and you don't mind splasing out a bit, it's definately worth a try. I would go back and try a meal in the restaurant as although it was dated I think the food speaks for itself!!

Meal OK. Service OK. Waitress quite nice. Spring rolls appeared bought in and not great. Both mains a little bland - lacked wow factor. We went here as we could not get a table at our usual, the Mews Thai in Poulton as we had not booked in time- Sadly the Thai Orchid was just not in the same league and quite a bit more expensive. We wouldn't go again.

We visited the Thai Orchid on our wedding Anniversary, the decision to go was based mainly on the reviews on Trip Advisor but also on our love of Thai food.I’m sorry to say that our experience wasn’t that good, on arrival they had no record of our booking, however, there was only a handful of people dining we were shown to a table in the annex which was situated against a wall with rather a large patch of mold. We ordered some drinks my Diet Coke came in the can, which seemed a little unprofessional; my wife had a glass of House White Wine which was ok.The menu looked extensive and although somewhat pricier than other Thai restaurants we have previously visited (even in central London) we chose the Mixed Starter platter, which although nice was nothing special and a little bit boring. For our mains I had chicken with Chilli my wife had the Thai Red curry, although a good size portion again was nothing special. The service was slow and lacked any form of interaction.Although our visit was probably the worst of all Thai Restaurants visited, it was not that bad, just below average for food, service, and overall enjoyment. I do find it strange that all previous reports for this restaurant have been so positive, given my experience; I would therefore suggest you try it and judge for yourself, but do take the time to add a review.

My most favorite restaurant. Ever. I have eaten at places such as Northcote and Marco Pierre White restaurants and, hand on heart, for sheer quality of food, it can't be beaten. It's just unreal. Heart and soul are in every dish and I just cannot fault it at all.

It was recommended by a friend as me and my partner love thai food and it is one of the best we've been to. We went with another couple who had never had thai food before so trying to explain it to them was hard. The menu was full of choices and it had taken us 30 minutes to decide what we wanted. The service we recieved was fantastic and the food was excellent. The couple we went with really enjoyed it and will be trying it again. If you have never tried thai food before you must it's packed full of flavour, very fragrant and very fresh. You can't complain about anything it is clean, freindly staff and fantastic value for money.

I've eaten in and had takeaway many times from here with lots of varied friends and family and it's always a hit.The starters and mains - and we've been through a chunk of the menu - are tasty and the portions are spot-on. The service is always warm and welcoming. Don't be out off by the rather pink decor, it's part of the experience and is just a sign that this place is all about the food. That said it can be quiet mid-week so don't expect a raucous night and don't attempt eating in on a rainy Weds night if you are self-conscious about eating in a quiet restaurant (personally I'm not in the least out off by that as long as I know the food is fabulous) I can highly recommend the combo sharing starter, though it is huge and especially love the duck dishes.
