The food was absolutely delicious and served to make you salivate. I left wanting more. Water was a scarce commodity and there was hesitation when you asked for a glass of water

Looks like that on the river is gone. A brick wall is by the entrance and will probably made into flats

This restaurant has been appalling for too long and it doesn't surprise me that it is now closing. Bad food, overpriced and indifferent staff giving very poor service

No malgastes tu tiempo y dinero!

We arrived at about 6pm on the first Sunday of March - the place was completely empty and had to wait a while to get the waiter's attention from the back. He was very friendly and gave us just the right amount of time to deliberate about what to eat and drink as we struggled to make up our minds.

Booked online (good website) for anniversary last month. Heard nothing, so booked again asking for an email or phone confirmation, explaining our special occasion. Heard nothing again, so went along at 19.45 hrs as booked. Totally dead, only 2 couples in whole restaurant, no music or atmosphere. Walked around and stood in front of the bar waiting for service or recognition for over 5 minutes. Nobody could help us, so we left. Never got the chance to try the food or drink!

I have been eating at Thai On The River regularly for the last two years and it is one of my favorite restaurants in London. The quality of the food varies from excellent to average, The standard of service also varies, from slow to fast, but I have always found the staff to be pleasant and helpful. What makes the restaurant really special is the stunning location right on the banks of the Thames. You are surrounded by trees and greenery. One has the sense of eating in park rather than in the middle of London. You can eat indoors or outdoors in a conservatory, Overall you almost feel like you are back in Thailand. In summary good food at reasonable prices and an ambiance that cannot be surpassed.

We had a cold reception. The food was disappointing, eg, rice nodles (Singapore) were overcooked and lumpy with taste of only soy sauce. Waiters did not seem to be trained and were not quite receptive. The evening was a disaster. Our previous experience few years ago was excellent. The new management apparently have not maintained the standards.

We went for a Bank Holiday lunch on Sunday because we live locally and it seemed a nice idea to stroll up there without having to take the car. Upon arrival, the waitress didnt understand the order for a pre-lunch drink of gin and tonic and I went with her to the bar. However, the barman didnt know what gin he had to serve and I had to point them out to him. No apologies from either and I told them they should be aware of what was on offer in the restaurant to help their customers..The food was poor. Lukewarm buffet with most dishes empty and with the rice we had to scrape the bottom of the dish to get some to accompany our meal. The plates were very small side plates which meant that we had to keep returning, which we did in the hope that more food would be put in to replenish the empty dishes. We gave up. The fruit for dessert was brown round the edges and was obviously not fresh, and we left that. There was no other alternative because everything else had gone and the plates were empty. The time was 1.30 which is the lunch period and we could understand better if we were late arrivals. The service continued to be poor and indifferent and when we mentioned this, the waitress offered no apology. We are used to eating in Thai restaurants in London, Patara and Thai Square, also Blue Elephant, are all examples of excellent food and service.. I would say that in spite of its lovely location on the Battersea riverside, this restaurant should be avoided at all costs. Had an upset stomach the next day. None of this warranted the £40 plus we paid...

We recently visited Thai on the River for the first time. Unfortunatelly we didn't have good experiece. No one welcomed us. Restaurant looked empty and we had to look for a waitress. She was cleaning windows in the middle of service. It was 8 pm!They had just 4 tables in the whole restaurant and we ware refused to get table we want because it was booked. We stayed whole evening there and only one reservation arrived! They took our order wrong and I received bear insted a glass of wine.Mise en place was not done for main course. Waitress simply removed forks from starter plate and placed it on the table. Forks ware dirty and I had to eat my main course with it. Disgusting. Are they saving on dish washing?During the meal there was no one to come to our table to ask how is a meal and if we need anything else.I get better service even in Nandos!Food looked good but everage in taste. I know better Thai restaurants in London.I'm sorry but we definitelly do not come back.We had to pay service charge for very poor service. We spend £80 for our meal but it's not good value for money!

4 of us went here for lunch - our friends are regular visitors. We ordered a selection of starters and 4 main courses 3 of which were Sea Bass, the fourth was Duck. We found the food absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. We certainly hope to return in the not too distant future.

I have been a Sunday buffet customer of THAI ON THE RIVER for almost eight years and have always been very happy with their excellent buffet, food, service and the beautiful locationAfter ten months of absence I went there with my wife and friends. We were ALL very disappointed by the sringking of their Buffet and the poor service which was almost not existent and do not justify the price any longer,( £19.50 p.p.).Perhaps when the weather is nice their magnificent location on the River will compensate for the poor quality of everything else!

I really want to like this place because it is literally within spitting distance of mine. But annoyingly it rather falls between 2 stools: it is neither cheap enough to be a “can't be bothered to cook, let's just get a Thai from my local” option nor is it good enough to be a “let's go to the brilliant and fancy Thai which happens to be nearby” venue. The location is indeed lovely if you are seated on the terrace where there's a beautiful view over some charming boats on the river looking towards...

I have to say, I love this place. The food is really good, a tad on the pricey side, but as it's the only Thai place in the neighbourhood, it's worth it. The decor always makes me feel like I'm on holiday and you can't beat the views across the Thames. I love the jungle curry and the sampler starter.

I booked our table in advance on the 6th December with plenty of time in between. The service we experienced was poor, having booked our table in the conservatory facing the river we were put in a corner with a view of bamboo shoots instead! We liked the food very much it was very well presented with a good balance of colour and tasted good and spicy albeit served warm. (Hot is good)The atmosphere was OK but only a few people were in there at 9.00pmWe liked the food best....... however service, atmosphere and staff could have been far sharper. When the bill came £12 was automatically put on for service which I always think should be at the customers discretion, we decided not to pay and were asked why not.Not sure that I would rush back - The restaurant needs a makeover to encourage people to return, it is still in a 90s time warp.
