We ordered takeaway for delivery which arrived late. One of the pork stir fry dishes was good, the thai red curry was ok but the pad thai was so sweet and the noodles overcooked they were just one sticky gloopy candied noodle tangle with two pieces of prawn and two pieces of chicken, we left over half of it. I paid £12.95 for grilled prawns and received only three prawns, making it £4/prawn, ridiculous. They were also covered in a tamarind sauce which was very very sweet. We paid over around £40 for 4 dishes + prawn crackers so this is an above average price for takeaway and expected the food to reflect this. Extremely disappointed. Wishing I could turn back the time and order somewhere else.

Just had an absolutely delicious dinner at home delivered by Deliveroo. The prawns were perfectly cooked and beautifully spicy; a great green curry; lovely green vegetables (could have been a bit more broccoli!) and good egg fried rice. Not a cheap takeaway, but having just got back from a few days away, perfect end to the day!

I've enjoyed going here for several years. Its a good local restaurant (not exceptional food in my opinion but it has always been tasty). The atmosphere is lovely, relaxing and with warm, friendly staff working there. The one thing I would like to point out is that I gather the automatic 12.5% service charge added to the bill goes to the company rather than the staff so I will always be requesting the charge to be taken off and tip in change in the future here.

We went for our Christmas meal. The food was tasty and staff were very attentive. I had curry and a side of boiled rice and the rice came served in a traditional container, inside which it was packaged up in a boil-in-the-bag style plastic wrapper. Not sure if that was a mistake or how it was supposed to come!

We have been frequenting this establishment for 10 years with friends and family and after the last visit we won't be in a hurry to go back. The restaurant has always been a premium priced establishment, the prices reflected in the quality of the food and service. Whilst the service has slipped a little, the quality of the food at our most recent visit appears to have taken its inspiration from an an episode of Ramsey's kitchen nightmares! Yuk salty dim sum the size of basketballs, hot and sour soup that seems to have been the product of a chicken stock cube, cold rice and tough beef in a watery slop. Not good at all. Maybe they should solicit the services of the great man himself, he only lives up the hill!

The Thai offers the classic and delicious Thai dishes that we have all come to love.Very reasonable prices - around a tenner or less per dish.Very attentive staff - we were very well looked after, our glasses of water being refilled almost by magic. A warm, welcoming atmosphere with dishes coming out quickly.Would easily recommend others to The Thai, especially after my highly disappointing experience at Kaosarn, another Thai restaurant close by (please see my other review for a detailed account).Certainly did not feel rushed to eat and leave as is the standard vibe emanating from Kaosarn – if you are picking between the two, and want a more relaxed, calm, and hassle-free evening, The Thai is the place to go.

We couldn't be bothered to cook so we fancied a Thai- wanting something healthy I went for the Lemongrass, ginger, mushroom, coriander broth soup concoction and added chicken! this was around £7.95 + , and my boyfriend had the Basil chicken (which tasted odd- chilli chocolate coffee tinge??) also at around £7.95 +- these both came in the smallest/shallow plastic take out box you can get - mine had hardly anything in it just yellow pond water with a few floating mushrooms and 2 bits of brown ginger? (inedible) and some dry chicken! I had to cook some noodles with it and put it into the mix! - I would of taken it back but it was 10 minutes down the road and raining and getting late - hence this review! Overall very average, if not terrible! do not have a take out from here!

Needless to say it put me off the rest of my dinner and the evening.Even after stamping on the insect and alerting staff they took another 5 mins, leaving it on the floor before they could find a dust pan and brush. They offered 10% off the bill but it was no conciliation for a spoilt meal.

Staying in the Holiday Inn Express nearby (London to Brighton cycle tomorrow from Clapham Common). Found this restaurant on google maps - 5 minute walk away. Old York Road has a number of restaurants to chose from: Jamaican, Moroccan, Pizza Express amongst many others. The Thai is a smallish, but nice and modern Thai restaurant with all the usual menu items. Started with a Long Island Iced tea each - very nice. Then usual mixed starters (satay chicken, sesame toast, spring roll, deep fried won ton and chicken drumsticks with sauces). Main courses were Thai green chicken curry with boiled rice and a prawn Pad Thai. Washed down with a couple of Chang beers. All very tasty, good service and nice atmosphere. £63 with 12,5% tip included for two.Accompanying piped music was some cheesy listening with painful covers of 80's pop: Madonna, Simply Red, Spandau Ballet etc. didn't distract from the food but was entertaining trying to work out the original artist and song from the slow crooning renditions.Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

The Old York Road is a tranquil haven of antique shops, estate agents, art galleries and restaurants at the foot of the slightly overpriced and pretentious residential enclave known as the Tonsleys, where a yourhful Tony Blair once occupied a flat when a pupil barrister. Although the Old York Road dining scene has recently been augmented by a branch of bland brunch emporium Brew and the outdoor sausage and burger bar Cwtch just outside Wandsworth Town station, The Thai is a stalwart which has been around for years if not decades. It has a pleasing relaxing interior. For lunch two separate but overlapping menus are offered. Each has about six starters and mains, but whereas the first offers a compulsory two courses for £8.95, the second features first courses and send courses individually priced or £9.95 for two. Many of the dishes, for example, the mixed starter of prawn toast, tempura prawn and satay and red and green chicken curries are common to both menus. Whikst my choice of curry only came, according to the menu, with steamed rice, I was offered egg-fried rice. Of the two beers shown on the menu, namely Singha and Chang, only Chang was available. That said all the dishes we ordered were good without perhaps being exceptional. My tempura prawns comprised three let battered prawns with a tangy red sauce. My wife's mixed starters were just as described. Both my Penang beef curry and my wife's red chicken curry were nicely served on square ceramic plates. My daughter had the dedicated children's menu which ought to be calked mixed mains. Overall I can well understand this place's longevity. Solid inoffensive affordable cooking both beautifully presented and pleasantly served.

Had our Christmas lunch there today and was really looking forward to it as Thai is my favourite cuisine. How disappointing though. My starter soup was so bland I had to ask for some chilli (to give it some flavour you understand). The bowl was also chipped but I let that pass. So british of me to not make a fuss lol. On the menu, it said it was going to be hot but it just had too much lemon grass and you know how over-powering that can be. The chicken didn't taste like chicken either. Having the fresh quarters of tomato was a surprise too (and not a good one). Waited absolutely AGES for my starter drink - Pina Colada - which was just 'wrong' and couldn't be finished. I didn't bother to order another drink; why waste the money? The main (and my last meal) was surprisingly tasty - Egg fried Rice and Chicken with garlic, ginger and mushrooms. Quite an easy dish though tbf. I base my meal on how much better I could cook it so I won't be going back for a good while. Lovely-looking place though and the staff were friendly enough, if not attentive. Maybe they were just bored.

Thanks to a stinking hangover, my best friend and I were in need of some refueling, and a good dose of chili to set us straight.I knew it had to be somewhere on the way to drop her off at the station, and none of the usual fare (Pizza Express etc) was going to do the trick. After a quick perusal of the menu we knew this was the place for us - a broad but not overwhelming menu including all the crowd pleasers. My friend has spent a lot of time in Asia so she has a pretty good idea of what passes for good Thai, and we both agreed that this was one of the best we had tasted in London. Just the right level of heat and superb clean flavours. To top it all off it was amazing value for money. The restaurant wasn't too busy, which was what we wanted, but there was a constant stream of people coming in for take away, so I am obviously not the first to realise how great this place is!

The thai green curry was nice, nothing special really, but the fish i have not stopped talking about. It was absolutely divine and unlike any other i have had before. Overall i would definitely go back and would definitely recommend.

Situated very close to Wandsworth Town Station it's easy to get to.It's quite small but has been configured reasonably well although when ultra busy it could get a bit claustrophobic. The service levels were excellent and no complaints there at all. However we went to eat and we hoped for more than what we ultimately received. We had the sharing/mixed starter which was quite nicely presented but a little underwhelming. It was no better than other similar sharing starters at much less expensive Thai restaurants. Two of us had the Chicken Jungle Curry which arrived in a Pot which had far too much liquid in it.I do understand how this dish should be prepared but I struggled to find much content i.e. The chicken! The noodles looked quite gloopy and a bit tasteless. The wine was OK but not we would describe as good value (but all restaurants tend to add mind boggling margins to even the most basic plonk). It was also expensive with a 12.5% service charge so at £37.50 a head was, In all our options, premium priced.I did download The Scores on The Doors App recently (food hygiene standards etc) and it did score very well.Would we rush back.In a word - No.But if meeting friends in Wandsworth and going via Train I might give it another go.

Have been to this restaurant twice recently, after walking past it many times. The first time last month, I had a starter of Prawn Tempura and a main course of Green Curry with beef and boiled rice. I've had Prawn Tempura many times at different restaurants, but this was a little bland. However, the sweet chilli sauce livened it up!The Green Curry was nice, but the sauce was a bit watery for my liking. On my most recent visit (yesterday), I had 'See Krong Moo' - Pork spare ribs marinated with Thai spices (delicious!) and stir fried beef. This was tasty, but the beef was a little chewy! Both visits were enjoyable, but I guess I still have memories of the lovely Thai restaurant which use to be on Creek Road in Greenwich many years ago...

Its now overpriced gloop and the food is no different from any of the BYO greasy spoon thai cafes opening all over London.
