Thai Marina in Eastbourne

A lovely lunch with family everyone enjoyed their meal. Just one point I would prefer the rice to be hot.

My daughter and son-in-law took me here for an impromptu early evening meal this Saturday. It was a short walk from the car park. When we arrived we were very quickly shown to a table. We chose four starter dishes and three main meals, which we all shared. As soon as the starters arrived and we asked for them to be put on the middle of the table, the staff immediately realised that we were going to be sharing all the dishes and brought us separate plates so we could pick and choose. The same for the main courses. The food was superb and beautifully presented. The staff were incredibly efficient and very courteous. Cannot fault a thing.

The food was delicious and the table service was good and polite. There was 4 of us having an evening meal and wanted separate bills as we were there with work and needed it to claim back. The waitress was polite and said yes to accommodate our request before ordering. Food wasn't long and very tasty. The problem came when it came to pay, management became angry and aggressive when it came to splitting the bill. I asked for a menu to show what I had only to be snapped at "just tell me!" Well, I couldn't remember the names of the starter and main! Anyway, I described the meal and paid, whilst my colleagues experienced the same and during this time, one male was angry and aggressive towards the waitress and every so often the woman serving us at the till joined in. It's a shame because this experience tainted the whole overall experience and let down the great meal we had. It was a simple request we had asked and many places had no issue with it, so I can't understand why this was difficult in this case! It was not very busy there on that evening and certainly no one behind us waiting to pay. My female colleague was that upset and disturbed by the interaction and seeing them having a go at the young waitress, that she had to leave the building before us. The rating is high for the food, waitress service was great but the customer service at the end is definitely a low.

Just back from an impromptu lunch. When we went in at 12 we were only ones there. When we left at 1345 it was packed solid. Food is exceptional, magnificent in fact. When we move to Sovereign Harbour this will be our weekly treat !!!

Fantastic food, a wide selection of specialty dishes, drinks and desserts! Service was great! Will definitely be returning when we visit Pevensey again!

We drove out to the Marina for lunch and chose from the set menu. Shrimp and pork wanton soup (me) and squid with wasabi mayo (better half) to start; we had forgotten just how fabulous the food was! Terrifically generous, meaty wantons in a gently spiced rich clear vegetable broth; BH enjoyed the squid too. We chose yellow curry with chicken and potatoes, and salmon fillet with red Penang spicy sauce as mains. The yellow curry took me straight back to Thailand, delicious, fragrant and gently punchy with generous chicken and potatoes, this dish alone was worth the trip, I'd even go as far as saying it was the best yellow curry I've ever eaten in the UK or Thailand! The salmon fillet was generous and perfectly cooked; the Penang red sauce was beautifully balanced with just enough heat to allow you to taste the fish as well. We've never been disappointed with The Thai Marina, and today proved why; well executed and authentic Thai food served by friendly staff. A gem amongst Eastbourne restaurants.

Food here is always really good, very authentic but quite expensive. Last few times service has been pretty poor, very impatient with ordering and not particularly friendly. Takes away from the enjoyment of the meal. Will come back for the food, but hope the service improves?

Food all passable, wine….£23 for a glass of Sauvignon, we were absolutely gobsmaked, be aware if you order Sav blanc check prices!!

Best Thai restaurant in Eastbourne! My husband took me here for my birthday and it was wonderful, with lovely servers and delicious food.

Delivery was poorly packaged and had leaked over everything. Main curry was incredibly oily and unable to eat - very disappointing- never again.

Love it, love it, love it! And the food is to die for! The staff is lovely too! I live 6 min away by car, so walking distance from me (and my wheelchair) is fairly close, so that's great!

Excellent, quick service which was good as we have a baby and toddler! High chairs provided. Very attentive staff. Food excellent. Will definitely come back.

The harbour has a collection of restaurants and for us the Thai is probably the best in terms of quality of the food, efficient service and value for money. We have tried a variety of dishes there during our stay in Eastbourne and they have always been excellent.

The staff were friendly, however, the woman who greeted us at the door and went to check our table was ready was open coughing into her hand the whole night. I watched to see if she would clean her hands or use hand sanitiser, but she went straight onto another task. It made me feel really grossed out, especially when she bought over our drinks and was touching the glasses and everything. We had to ask another server to bring clean cups. Unfortunately, there's no comfortable way to bring it up to the server at the time and I didn't want to be mean, but it completely ruined the night and I barely ate anything because it made me feel grossed out. She continued coughing right onto her palm the whole night whilst walking around and serving tables. I don't know why her colleagues didn't say anything to her (especially when we told one of them why we wanted different glasses), but I'm even more surprised why someone would think it's okay to cough directly into their hand? And then not immediately wash them? It just felt like there was a little lack of hygiene and I was uncomfortable eating there. I've worked in restaurants for 6+ years and I'm always conscious whenever I sneeze or cough (always into my elbow) and I *still* make sure I wash my hands straight away. I think maybe just a bit more self-awareness and self-observation is needed regarding it, and perhaps better encouragement to sanitise hands frequently during service.

I really liked the oriental decor and the excellent food. The staff were numerous and the service rapid as a consequence.

Booked Saturday lunch for a family member. Plenty of room inside as quite empty at this time. Staff very friendly and helpful. Even added extra decoration to the birthday cake which we had brought in. Set lunch menu good value for money considering it contained a free drink. The food was fine but I have had better Thai food in several other restaurants. I ordered a green Thai Curry for my main course which I expected to be a bit hotter and didn't leave any tingle in my mouth which I was expecting.

I would say food good, but sultry/ rude service from a waitress put us off restaurant..maybe they need to update their staff / customer awareness approach

DOG FRIENDLY!!! ( Only outside) This place is just incredible!!! The service is just the best they literally wait on you. Anything you need they are on it even keep your water glass filled up. I've been here a few times now with my partner on date nights and you get the same service every time!! The staff are always friendly and welcoming. Food is just amazing!!! Always super fresh all the meat just melts in your mouth 😘 highly recommend!!! 🤩

It's the Pearl of the Marina! The food is excellent, and served by friendly staff. The place was packed with many nationalities, which is a good indicator of the quality of food. It isn't the cheapest restaurant but it's a firm favourite, and an ideal way to spoil yourself!

It was lovely to be back outside, enjoying the sunshine, the boats, and the food 😀

This is definitely the worst green curry I've ever tasted in my entire life. Super spicy, 1 litre of oil, no creamy at all, 5 prawns which also taste off. Congrats guys, I'm not sure who is your chef but definitely not one. Never again

Today was our first visit, and we were pretty impressed. We had a set lunch menu at £18.50 per head for two courses with a glass of wine. Choosing from a good selection of dishes wasn't difficult, and service was very quick, ideal if you're in a hurry. A nice clean restaurant with plenty of seating. We'll be going back soon

5 star ⭐️ Food is just delicious . No long wait for your food. 🙃 Service could be better , no real welcome and not with a smile , just ask us how many of you .Don't ask you if your food is ok , No goodbye or thank you when we left. They almost look like they are not happy to be there , may be there not. Service is not bad ,only a 3 star but had so much better service at other restaurants.

Enjoyed a delightful lunch of Dim Sum and shared Pad Thai. Excellent service and quality well presented food, very enjoyable. Will certainly visit again.

After my wife and i were both ill in December after eating tamerind seabass i was suprised that there was no response or apology from yourselves !!! I sent a review two days later!!!

Outstanding food and service. My partner invited me there for our valentines meal. Cosy and friendly atmosphere.

No one to greet you at door. No one knew where to seat us even though booked table. Met by surly waitress. Waited 1 hour for starter. Another 3/4 hour and still no main course. 2 tables near us who had arrived later than us were served and one table had actually finished and gone. Still no main!! Disgusting. Would not return and do not recommend. No sincere apologies and had to pay for drinks. Be warned.

Very disappointing. Waited an hour for our starter. Another 45 minutes and no main. Cancelled meal after being in the restaurant for two hours. Other tables who were seated after us, had their starter, main and left by the time we decided to cancel. Would take a lot to get us to go back again!

Fantastic meal and great friendly service.

Food was decent, got a pad Thai from here, it was decent but a bit pricey, have had better and cheaper elsewhere, have also tried the 5 spice cooked pork in the past, that wasn't good and very pricey.

if you have to choose one thai restaurant to eat at in your entire life make it this one. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and beautifully lit, the staff are friendly and welcoming, the food arrives mere minutes after being ordered. I make no exaggeration when I say it is the best thai food I have ever eaten and I have eaten in a LOT of thai restaurants. I had the green curry and I would recommend it more than I recommend breathing.

With the downside aside of being contacted by this restaurant after you've made a reservation God knows how many times (once would be ample!), to confirm whether or not you will arrive, the food, staff, restaurant and location is a winning combination. A deserved 5 stars.

It seems to have gone downhill in a year, as last year it was much nicer than today. Very rude about not ordering from the lunch menu and wanting something from the normal menu. Satay chicken was good but the pad Thai was horrible. It’s covered in a horrible sauce which made it inedible. Lemonade was flat. Staff rude, no atmosphere and no one asks if your food is ok to provide feedback. Would avoid, there’s better Thai’ in the area.

Great food, great atmosphere and service. We went with some friends and really enjoyed our time at Thai Marina. The cleanliness was good, they served us good portions and the dishes were well prepared. Not my first time and should be the last one. The prices are not the best for Thai food in town, but they have a different selection of dishes.

Very nice food and fast service

The best Thai Iv had in some time. Every bite was so delicious and couldn't help going back for more. Very well presented, staff where also incredible and even helped keep my little boy entertained while I ate my food. Beautiful atmosphere looking at the boats go by on the harbour . I highly recommend 👌 ☺️

What a disappointment have eaten in before but first takeaway . Usually excellent but this time very poor. I had the special lamb dish . It was like a runny soup and meat was very tough. I did want to email to give them a chance to explain. But no email address available

What I ordered didn't say, it had hot chili in ... when I told one of the staff, he just looked at the plate and said nothing! It wasn't very enjoyable 😞 it also said it had mango in it... didn't really see much of it, however I did see a couple of supermarkets tomatoes and plenty of unions. 🧐 not good for the prices on this occasion 😕 I had to get ice cream to cool my mouth!

Food was really nice, and a big choice in the menu. However the service was very unpleasant, no smile, no small talk, the staff looked like they were forced to work there. Shame as it would of added to the experience.

Chai, the chef here, really knows his stuff and the food here is excellent, authentic Thai. The service was great, really friendly, and the setting is lovely. But the stand-out thing is, the best Thai food for miles. (If you're a chilli fan, when they say hot they really mean it, and you can ask the kitchen to turn it up if you're brave, or down if that's not for you). The Tom Yam rocks! Now that Seeracha's closed, Eastbourne's finest.

ABSOLUTELY elite when it comes to Thai food. As a Londoner I travel to Eastbourne for Thai Marina, and always leave with takeaway. The level of culinary excellence the chefs at this restaurant commands is one rarely seen in modern Thai restaurants. The service is attentive, yet not too overbearing, and the location allows for a nice stroll around the harbour after a satisfying meal. Thai Marina is in-fact very reminiscent of 2nd generation Thai restaurants in the UK (circa 80s+90s), which focuses on high quality ingredients, combined with delectable flavours, and beautiful presentations. While many of these long forgotten gems have faded to the passage of time, and the pressure of marketing from newer players, Thai Marina still remains a bastion of classical Thai cuisine.

We live locally and often stop here for lunch. We visit Thailand most years for a few weeks a year - and finding good Thai food is a challenge in the UK. We had friends down for the day and they fitted us in for dinner at very short notice. Always friendly and fun service, and we rate the food too. Great location by the water. Five stars all the way! Had been meaning to try this place as heard "rave"reviews about it but got to say i wasn't overly impressed with it,food was mediocre and highly priced for what it was.Service was fairly good tho but I wouldnt rush back.

I honestly have never been so disgusted with the customer service provided by a restaurant before. The service they provided was appalling, I would have given 0 star for the review if I could. I went to this restaurant with 7 other adults plus a 20-month child. All staff’s facial expressions were clearly not welcoming when we walked in. We asked for a high chair for the child and the staff seemed so annoyed. When the staff brought us the chair, she was so impatient and kept asking one of us (father of the child) to move our chairs when he was holding the child. She even tried to just push the high chair into the narrow space when there was not enough space. We needed to move our two tables to fit the chair in. After the child is settled, my friend went to talk to the staff about the service she provided and he also talked to the man who claimed he was the one in charge. However, it did not help as the staff started talking about us in Thai. It was absolutely horrible as one of us could actually speak Thai. It was such a horrendous experience and we will never come back to this place.

Best Thai Restaurant in Eastbourne. We have been going here annually for nearly 20 years when we are in the location. Never fails to please. Good service, great food. Tip, take a taxi there and back. Sa es parking in the Marina car park, unless you want to make an afternoon and evening of it.

I wanted to surprise my daughter for her special birthday with half aromatic duck and a shared platter starter. Paid £35 for a single starter (not shared) and only a quarter aromatic duck with 12 packcakes and 2 x plum sauce containers! We had to get othee food to eat as was not enough food for 2 snall eaters! Absolutely shocking! Total rip off ans ruined my daughters birthday!. Very dissapointed and had to spend more money due to going to another restaurant!!!

It is really a lamentable service, we waited 1 hour before being served. 4 different people insist on knowing if we have booked correctly, I am not understood why The food was like the disastrous service and welcome, I will no longer return to this restaurant which does not respect its customers To be honest I eat badly and I was very very very badly received, I do not recommend it at all

We bought a take away this evening and it was absolutely delicious. One of the best Thai meals we have had. The duck rolls were amazing. I had the red Thai chicken curry with coconut rice and my husband had the lamb massaman with sticky rice. Both were awesome. The staff were lovely and so polite when we arrived to collect. Thoroughly impressed with the quality and quantity of the food. A real gem at Eastbourne Marina.

Not bad, but there is a lot of space for improvement. My biggest disappointment was the wings and it’s most of the reason for the 3 stars. Wings were fried form frozen and were not tossed in any sauce. I would recommend to take it off the menu or make some changes.

Presentation of food is good. Quality is good but, as with all the Thai restaurants in Eastbourne, the menu is just a bastardised take on Chinese cuisine. Not enough real Thai food, but I suppose the real stuff is not for everyone. So overall it's alright, but not Thai enough for me

Absolutely incredible Thai food. Service was friendly and food came out quickly. We visited on Good Friday - the restaurant was very busy but that didn’t affect food quality or service.

We went to the lunch set menu fpr £17.50 starter main and a drink yummy. Which meant i couldn't change what veg went into my dishes so i ended up with a plate of mushrooms from my soup. When filling up my drink insted of me moving my glass to them they leaned over my food this is the 1st time i have given anything less then 5* to the thai marina i will not be coming back for lunch again.

We used to be regular customers up until about 2 years ago. Standards of staff service have definitely gone down. It was always beautifully run by very polite staff who were all in traditional Thai dress. The food was always lovely too. I have to be honest & say our visit last Wednesday was a bit of a disappointment. None of the original staff seem to be there. They're all quite young & dressed more like they're working for Domino's Pizza than a Thai restaurant. Also, our waitress was quite rude, firstly when I requested a jug of water & secondly, when I asked for extra onion with my crispy chilli beef. Despite my asking her for that twice, she didn't write it down & seemed to dismiss what I'd said. Consequently, when I received my meal, there was no extra onion. This never used to be a problem when it was being run by the other staff. They always accommodated simple requests such as this. Disappointed, I'm afraid & probably won't be returning.
