The food was nice, but the price was a bit excessive. The waitress was really good and chatty. The venue on a whole was pretty run down, it's definitely in need of a refurbishment.

The waitress we had was fantastic. Very friendly and accommodating. Also she orchestrated an extremely last minute Birthday Celebration for my friend which made his day.

I went in for a burger it was dry. I made a complaint and was told the manager was busy. I wrote an email, no reply after a month. I contacted again and was told someone would get back to me. So waiting time has been over two months over something that could of been handled quickly.

Thought as it had been a long time since I've been thought I would celebrate my 50th birthday there wish we hadn't. It was a joke ordered the very over priced mixed grill only to be told that one item was there . So I had to get extra steak . When it came it was over cooked ment to be medium and over seasoned every worst it was tough as old boots . The bit of chicken that came looked like it had been stood on and was tiny . It came with a small hand full of chips and 4 ribs for £40 this is a rip off .thought owell I get a free bit of there yummy chocolate fudge cake as it was my birthday but no . Notsure how long it's been since I've been but i got very dry old bit of multi coloured sponge. So very sad really

Overall, Riverside looks nicer, with all the details and decor perfectly matching the American vibe of the food and the place. That's somewhat lacking here compared to the newer TGI Fridays. I always go for the biggest burger, which is a perfect choice, but today I tried the ribs – not really my thing. My sister enjoyed the chicken burger, and the non-alcoholic mocktails were good too. There’s plenty of space, people were celebrating birthdays with everyone clapping, and the service was quick, friendly, and pleasant. It's a nice spot in the heart of Reading, but it could use a bit of a refresh and maybe some rock and roll vibes!

There the food it wass to cold and not same like before the atmosphere it wass to cald they try to keeep me happy with 10 % discount but it wass to cold in the restaurant we book it 2 days before and they didn’t let us know the restorant dosent have heating For me they wass salms i paid more then £300 on the food but honestly the food and atmosphere so crap Honestly they deserve to close the shop

Good place for an informal get together with friends

the workers are so nice - my server matt was extremely kind to us and welcomed us really well. we celebrated my sisters birthday and they sang happy birthday for her. matt checked up on us regularly and refilled our drinks. he allowed us to stay past 9:30, when it closes, so we can have dessert.

There is a problem with the timing. Waiting for order ages every time

We arrived and there was only 3 other family’s in the restaurant, so wasn’t exactly busy. Is took at least 10 minutes to have someone take our drinks order, which then the drinks took a long time to come. We as a table of 7 placed the order of our food, which that was reasonable waiting time. However when it did come, some portions were cold, the mozzarella dippers are not worth ordering with some missing cheese in them. The Cajun pasta was so dry and tasteless. The prices have increased but the quality in the food has go worse, like everything was microwaved. Always rated Tgi Fridays, however now after yesterday’s experience it was not worth the amount we spent. Will not be returning.

Food was delicious and we came just before it became busy which meant food was out within 20 minutes of ordering. Incredibly fast. Servers were super lovely and helpful.

Nothing wrong with server just took a long time for whatbdidnt feel like a very busy restaurant less than half full

The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was truly exceptional—attentive and welcoming. The ambiance was warm and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a relaxing time. I enjoyed the prawn starters, which were perfectly cooked, and the full baby ribs, which were tender and flavorful. TGIF!

£20 for some chicken strips and chips that were McDonald’s level quality. There’s one gluten free item on the menu- advertised as a “gluten free cheeseburger”.. yet I was charged extra for having cheese on my cheese burger.. I didn’t ask for extra.. they charged extra for cheese on a cheeseburger. Small and dry burger for £16. Put me off TGIFs for life and I make sure dissuade others from going to any other TGIFs.

This was my first time at TGI and I'm not all that impressed. The staff were friendly but there wasn't many of them around. We had to wait about an hour and a half for the food to come out, when mine did come out they gave me a side portion size rather than a main meal size. Decided not to get a pudding as dreaded how long the wait would be.

Great food and service today! Good value on the weekday set menu too. 👌

Family of 4. Starters arrived, had to ask for cutlery and even then we were given forks only. Mains arrived one was wrong and again no cutlery. We ended up scavenging some from nearby tables. Waitress never returned with any cutlery. Desserts ok. Bill included both the incorrect main course and the replacement one. Birthday celebrations (there were 3) are grating. Not surprised they are closing.

I’m afraid that I don’t think we would go again, it’s not what it used to be. Whilst the food was okay in taste, when we got the food it just wasn’t hot. Felt like the food had been sat under the heat for a while, made the food taste quite old. Don’t really think calamari should be just slightly warm when you get it, should be piping hot. Such a shame as used to go here for all our birthdays. Seems very expensive for the quality of the food now.

We booked this restaurant for a birthday ,it was very disappointing, from the outside it looked closed and derelict, inside was not much better , the food was so expensive for what you get ,service was poor ,nit even busy ,will definitely not go again bad value for the money

I had a brilliant birthday at this restaurant. The server Andrew was friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. He helped me with the app, getting free desserts for both my birthday and from the app. He kept my desserts for later in a fridge to pick up after we went to the cinema. I took them home, and the cheesecake was stunning. Highly recommend the nachos with pulled pork as well. It's great to have a taste of home in the UK. It was a bit pricey, but it was worth it for the level of service and attention to details about the customer.

Elizabeth was our server and an amazing one. Very helpful, didn’t let my drink get low, very observant and great at her job. Overall TGI experience was great.

If you seek American restaurant experience in UK, this is one of the places you can. Great atmosphere vibrant and full of life. Food was delicious coupled with Margaritas (my choice of Jose Cuervo). Our server Molly was outstanding.

Me and my friend visited last night for the first time in a long time and won’t be back in a hurry…the place was filthy…booth seats were sticky…partition glass needing cleaning of finger prints and drink spillages…large mirror at the back near the kitchen needed cleaning…food was good but so expensive and service was slow even tho it was quiet

Dissapointing visit - the prices have gone up a lot (but no the venues fault) But my partner’s burger was made wrong - missing ingredients, and when we raised this issue we WERE OFFERED either to have ingredients missing added or for the burger to be re-made. My Partner and I hadn’t visited in a few years so the Burgers now have lots of stuff (like sauce) etc added which didn’t before - so we took the offer for the burger to be re-made and asked the parts like Burger Sauce/Onion etc be removed from the new one, the server agreed. We were Brought back the exact same food with a few bits of bacon thrown in, and that was it. Why even make the offer if you have no intention of following through. I understand we didnt fully read the menu and went off assumption from a year ago, but then don’t make us the offer to have it re-made if you’re just going to try and pass off adding stuff to it? It was cold when brought back, and we knew it was the same one as we had re-arranged the order of the salad.

Good food but massively overpriced for what it is

Don’t normally complain but the experience was dreadful… 1 hour wait for drinks and another hour wait for food.. Really disappointing… However the waiter was very friendly and couldn’t apologise enough for the wait and they did give us a discount for the slow service…

This restaurant so good in the past, they had a delicious food, but today 2024 this change for bad option, The waiters are not very attentive and it takes a long time for your food to arrive, the food have no much option, their just have Ribs, no moro, is like they are too lazy to cook. Iam so disappointed every time when I go there. It's enough for me

Nonstarter, went in no sign of any staff, sat at a table, still nobody about. Went to the bar, no one there, other customers told me that there was only one member of staff working. So we left...

Was really disappointed with this TGI, our food came out really late and not together, it was not of great quality either it was not very hot, my chicken was burnt for the price we paid I 100% would not be returning to this TGI. Also my family all had very upset tummy's the following day. The service was alright not the best, the staff were not particularly friendly or happy, it's location wasn't amazing either. Sorry TGI reading but I have been to friendly nicer TGI with better food quality. Would not return again

I have been a regular at TGIF across continents, love their cocktails, hearty meals; but my recent experience at TGIF has been VERY DISAPPOINTING Everything we ordered, a platter of wings, nachos, burgers, pasta were very below average The drinks and food were overpriced and the service was slow despite the restaurant being closed. I would not be going there for a long time now (even for free food) unless I hear that TGIF have done something different.

Phenomenal food. Service was a little slow but staff sre friendly. Try the Jack Daniels sauce!!

First time at TGIF. Probably not the last, but I fail to see myself as a recurring guest. It was an upgraded version of Wetherspoon; most of the food seemed to be defrosted. Presentation was nice and service was great, but it is vastly overpriced compared to the overall quality. (Around £130 for the 4 of us.) For £20 more we could have gone to Miller & Carter for a different experience...

Horrible food. The kids burger was a frozen, bland patty. The "ultimate ribs" were regular ribs. Price you pay for mediocrity is beyond any expectations

The food was terrible. I have been a fan of Toby carvery and have been going to Oatlands Borehamwood for a long time. But the food in reading was so bad. We threw up on our way home to london

We love TGI but this was far from the mark of the usual level quality of food & service sadly, the manager dealt with it very well but did spoil the evening.

Good food but highly over priced. Music was blurring too. Not considerate of everyone. Service poor. I also realised that most online menus do not show the prices of items.

Visited today for a 6.30pm booking and we were served by Riccy. He was brilliant and friendly. It was already busy and then a group of around 30 people came in which must have been very hard work for Riccy and the team but they stayed polite and smiley. The food and drinks were great too! Thank you!! :)

Doesn't live up to the hype. Service was poor and drinks came after food since the order never reached the bar. Manager was apologetic and offered some discount, which is much appreciated. That said, the service could have been better.

This TGI Fridays is great :) haven’t been for a while but well worth a visit if you’re around vastern court. Unfortunately I can only have non alcoholic cocktails but they are very nice. The sober loader is particularly recommended. Very good water. Supplied lots of ice which was great. Love the guitar at the bar reminds me of Eric Clapton. Interesting balloon display probably for birthdays which you can celebrate here in style. Really good music. Lots of reading families and friends enjoying their food. I can’t eat food here because of the syns but what I particularly recommend from memory are mozzarella dippers, nachos, loaded potato skins, any of the steaks, chicken pasta, glazed burger and the quesadillas were delicious but are unfortunately no longer on the menu. All the food tastes good though if you can eat it. Very warm welcome on arrival and all staff very nice and helpful and working hard. Interesting decor. Really good ambience with Reading people. I think they do balloons for children as I recall. I think children can have a really good time here and adults too. Staff in interesting uniforms with lots of badges for good work and serving in different TGIs. Which is good they recognise their talented staff. I met Vishal and Mansi and Mansi’s mum here and we had a good time. I have a lot of good memories here. The staff were and are always so helpful and nice and smiley. Thank you TGI Friday really recommend. I seem to have lost my review while taking a photo so I will try and remember. The drinks menu is very extensive and includes milkshakes. There is an interesting photo on the front as you can see from the picture. The coffee is delicious. There is an interesting fruit in the non alcoholic cocktail. It is very interesting indeed although I don’t know what it is. I have added some photos so you can see the guitar and balloons etc. p.s visited again today and this is still a great place. Lots of lovely reading people having fun. Diabetic loader tastes very nice but the green thing seems to be missing not sure where? MIA :) staff very nice and helpful :)

This was a very last minute drop in and I wasn't expecting to wait for 10 minutes to see a worker let alone walk all the way through the restaurant to the kitchen to get the attention of someone, two other people were waiting with me, one was a deliveroo driver and another was a man wanting to drop a cake off (he also came to the kitchen with me to be seen!). In the end the waitress was lovely and hospitable however it didn't make up for the long drawn out beginning. The food was nice but nothing to rave about, I had the chicken strip starter which was cooked perfectly and was hot.

Nice evening for grandsons birthday. Good friendly staff. Very few veggie suitable main meals.

Horrendous place pre booked table sat for 25 minutes and didn't even order a drink walked out. Spoken to member of staff who said hope o enjoyed the visit I laughed. Ruined a birthday surprise for me 7 year old. Went to the oracle one and a million times better

Hard to say what the food is like as I never even got to see any- waited 35 minutes (the only customers in the queue) before realizing that there is more to life than waiting that long for inevitable disappointment. Tables empty all over the place but the waitress couldn’t be bothered to accommodate for us, granted we arrived 9 minutes after our booking, I’m still not convinced that there was someone drooling for our table space that they absolutely HAD to give it away before we arrived. Won’t be back, you can keep it. Thanks.

10/10 for everything but 100/100 for our server Molly! I couldn't decide what I wanted to choose for dinner, but I did decide to let Molly choose ! & She did not disappoint! Molly mentioned she had only been in the job for a few weeks & what a credit she is to the team! She greeted us with genuine and kind smile ! So much enthusiasm and honestly just gave off such positive and upbeat vibes - Molly doesn't and didn't know this but as much as a lovely evening I was having, her professionalism and kindness helped me smile a little brighter. Truly we cannot hype up and thank Molly enough. Top credits to all ☺️

What a shame. It's been a while since I visited this place and now I remember why. The decor theme is getting a bit tired now. Sports, music, movies it's all be done to death and not updated in forever. Table was fine and our server was very polite and smiled the whole time through. She did seem busy but the reason why escapes me as there looked to be plenty of staff but also lots more empty tables. The menu was disappointing. Very limited. I remember it having lots more choice. I was then stuck for choice as I didn't really fancy what was in offer. Anyway, my daughter and I both went for the chicken strips in sesame seeds (we opted to leave out the chilli flakes..sensitive tummy's) it came with slaw and fries. I was quite impressed with the amount on the plate tbh and it was pretty tasty, especially the sauce. Drinks were refillable but didn't quite seem to taste like the real thing!! Anyway, I kicked the rear out of it and made sure I had my fill of refills. We saved money on pudding due to new users of the app and got them free with full meal. I had the brownie....very tasty and my daughter had the sundae with mallow. She found it too much (and that's saying something) and didn't enjoy it. It was soon time to leave so when I eventually flagged down our seems to be busy waitress I nearly had a heart attack at the bill. Since when was TGI sooooo expensive. I had to check and recheck as I thought there was a mistake. I've had much better for much less elsewhere. Needless to say I don't think I'll be back in a hurry *(To any TGIs) shame really as I used to enjoy going there. Some people may love TGI and I appreciate that, but it's not for me anymore.
