Grace is wonderful! Food was lovely too

The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was truly exceptional—attentive and welcoming. The ambiance was warm and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a relaxing time. I enjoyed the prawn starters, which were perfectly cooked, and the full baby ribs, which were tender and flavorful. TGIF!

£20 for some chicken strips and chips that were McDonald’s level quality. There’s one gluten free item on the menu- advertised as a “gluten free cheeseburger”.. yet I was charged extra for having cheese on my cheese burger.. I didn’t ask for extra.. they charged extra for cheese on a cheeseburger. Small and dry burger for £16. Put me off TGIFs for life and I make sure dissuade others from going to any other TGIFs.

This was my first time at TGI and I'm not all that impressed. The staff were friendly but there wasn't many of them around. We had to wait about an hour and a half for the food to come out, when mine did come out they gave me a side portion size rather than a main meal size. Decided not to get a pudding as dreaded how long the wait would be.

Great food and service today! Good value on the weekday set menu too. 👌

Family of 4. Starters arrived, had to ask for cutlery and even then we were given forks only. Mains arrived one was wrong and again no cutlery. We ended up scavenging some from nearby tables. Waitress never returned with any cutlery. Desserts ok. Bill included both the incorrect main course and the replacement one. Birthday celebrations (there were 3) are grating. Not surprised they are closing.

I’m afraid that I don’t think we would go again, it’s not what it used to be. Whilst the food was okay in taste, when we got the food it just wasn’t hot. Felt like the food had been sat under the heat for a while, made the food taste quite old. Don’t really think calamari should be just slightly warm when you get it, should be piping hot. Such a shame as used to go here for all our birthdays. Seems very expensive for the quality of the food now.

We booked this restaurant for a birthday ,it was very disappointing, from the outside it looked closed and derelict, inside was not much better , the food was so expensive for what you get ,service was poor ,nit even busy ,will definitely not go again bad value for the money

I had a brilliant birthday at this restaurant. The server Andrew was friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. He helped me with the app, getting free desserts for both my birthday and from the app. He kept my desserts for later in a fridge to pick up after we went to the cinema. I took them home, and the cheesecake was stunning. Highly recommend the nachos with pulled pork as well. It's great to have a taste of home in the UK. It was a bit pricey, but it was worth it for the level of service and attention to details about the customer.

If you seek American restaurant experience in UK, this is one of the places you can. Great atmosphere vibrant and full of life. Food was delicious coupled with Margaritas (my choice of Jose Cuervo). Our server Molly was outstanding.

Me and my friend visited last night for the first time in a long time and won’t be back in a hurry…the place was filthy…booth seats were sticky…partition glass needing cleaning of finger prints and drink spillages…large mirror at the back near the kitchen needed cleaning…food was good but so expensive and service was slow even tho it was quiet

Dissapointing visit - the prices have gone up a lot (but no the venues fault) But my partner’s burger was made wrong - missing ingredients, and when we raised this issue we WERE OFFERED either to have ingredients missing added or for the burger to be re-made. My Partner and I hadn’t visited in a few years so the Burgers now have lots of stuff (like sauce) etc added which didn’t before - so we took the offer for the burger to be re-made and asked the parts like Burger Sauce/Onion etc be removed from the new one, the server agreed. We were Brought back the exact same food with a few bits of bacon thrown in, and that was it. Why even make the offer if you have no intention of following through. I understand we didnt fully read the menu and went off assumption from a year ago, but then don’t make us the offer to have it re-made if you’re just going to try and pass off adding stuff to it? It was cold when brought back, and we knew it was the same one as we had re-arranged the order of the salad.

Good food but massively overpriced for what it is

Don’t normally complain but the experience was dreadful… 1 hour wait for drinks and another hour wait for food.. Really disappointing… However the waiter was very friendly and couldn’t apologise enough for the wait and they did give us a discount for the slow service…

This restaurant so good in the past, they had a delicious food, but today 2024 this change for bad option, The waiters are not very attentive and it takes a long time for your food to arrive, the food have no much option, their just have Ribs, no moro, is like they are too lazy to cook. Iam so disappointed every time when I go there. It's enough for me

Nonstarter, went in no sign of any staff, sat at a table, still nobody about. Went to the bar, no one there, other customers told me that there was only one member of staff working. So we left...

Very expensive £200 for six people, 6 drinks and 6 mains.

Was really disappointed with this TGI, our food came out really late and not together, it was not of great quality either it was not very hot, my chicken was burnt for the price we paid I 100% would not be returning to this TGI. Also my family all had very upset tummy's the following day. The service was alright not the best, the staff were not particularly friendly or happy, it's location wasn't amazing either. Sorry TGI reading but I have been to friendly nicer TGI with better food quality. Would not return again

I have been a regular at TGIF across continents, love their cocktails, hearty meals; but my recent experience at TGIF has been VERY DISAPPOINTING Everything we ordered, a platter of wings, nachos, burgers, pasta were very below average The drinks and food were overpriced and the service was slow despite the restaurant being closed. I would not be going there for a long time now (even for free food) unless I hear that TGIF have done something different.

First time at TGIF. Probably not the last, but I fail to see myself as a recurring guest. It was an upgraded version of Wetherspoon; most of the food seemed to be defrosted. Presentation was nice and service was great, but it is vastly overpriced compared to the overall quality. (Around £130 for the 4 of us.) For £20 more we could have gone to Miller & Carter for a different experience...

Horrible food. The kids burger was a frozen, bland patty. The "ultimate ribs" were regular ribs. Price you pay for mediocrity is beyond any expectations

The food was terrible. I have been a fan of Toby carvery and have been going to Oatlands Borehamwood for a long time. But the food in reading was so bad. We threw up on our way home to london

We love TGI but this was far from the mark of the usual level quality of food & service sadly, the manager dealt with it very well but did spoil the evening.

Good food but highly over priced. Music was blurring too. Not considerate of everyone. Service poor. I also realised that most online menus do not show the prices of items.

Visited today for a 6.30pm booking and we were served by Riccy. He was brilliant and friendly. It was already busy and then a group of around 30 people came in which must have been very hard work for Riccy and the team but they stayed polite and smiley. The food and drinks were great too! Thank you!! :)

Terrible, took over 20 mins to get the drink order!!

Doesn't live up to the hype. Service was poor and drinks came after food since the order never reached the bar. Manager was apologetic and offered some discount, which is much appreciated. That said, the service could have been better.

This TGI Fridays is great :) haven’t been for a while but well worth a visit if you’re around vastern court. Unfortunately I can only have non alcoholic cocktails but they are very nice. The sober loader is particularly recommended. Very good water. Supplied lots of ice which was great. Love the guitar at the bar reminds me of Eric Clapton. Interesting balloon display probably for birthdays which you can celebrate here in style. Really good music. Lots of reading families and friends enjoying their food. I can’t eat food here because of the syns but what I particularly recommend from memory are mozzarella dippers, nachos, loaded potato skins, any of the steaks, chicken pasta, glazed burger and the quesadillas were delicious but are unfortunately no longer on the menu. All the food tastes good though if you can eat it. Very warm welcome on arrival and all staff very nice and helpful and working hard. Interesting decor. Really good ambience with Reading people. I think they do balloons for children as I recall. I think children can have a really good time here and adults too. Staff in interesting uniforms with lots of badges for good work and serving in different TGIs. Which is good they recognise their talented staff. I met Vishal and Mansi and Mansi’s mum here and we had a good time. I have a lot of good memories here. The staff were and are always so helpful and nice and smiley. Thank you TGI Friday really recommend. I seem to have lost my review while taking a photo so I will try and remember. The drinks menu is very extensive and includes milkshakes. There is an interesting photo on the front as you can see from the picture. The coffee is delicious. There is an interesting fruit in the non alcoholic cocktail. It is very interesting indeed although I don’t know what it is. I have added some photos so you can see the guitar and balloons etc. p.s visited again today and this is still a great place. Lots of lovely reading people having fun. Diabetic loader tastes very nice but the green thing seems to be missing not sure where? MIA :) staff very nice and helpful :)

This was a very last minute drop in and I wasn't expecting to wait for 10 minutes to see a worker let alone walk all the way through the restaurant to the kitchen to get the attention of someone, two other people were waiting with me, one was a deliveroo driver and another was a man wanting to drop a cake off (he also came to the kitchen with me to be seen!). In the end the waitress was lovely and hospitable however it didn't make up for the long drawn out beginning. The food was nice but nothing to rave about, I had the chicken strip starter which was cooked perfectly and was hot.

Nice evening for grandsons birthday. Good friendly staff. Very few veggie suitable main meals.

Horrendous place pre booked table sat for 25 minutes and didn't even order a drink walked out. Spoken to member of staff who said hope o enjoyed the visit I laughed. Ruined a birthday surprise for me 7 year old. Went to the oracle one and a million times better

Hard to say what the food is like as I never even got to see any- waited 35 minutes (the only customers in the queue) before realizing that there is more to life than waiting that long for inevitable disappointment. Tables empty all over the place but the waitress couldn’t be bothered to accommodate for us, granted we arrived 9 minutes after our booking, I’m still not convinced that there was someone drooling for our table space that they absolutely HAD to give it away before we arrived. Won’t be back, you can keep it. Thanks.

10/10 for everything but 100/100 for our server Molly! I couldn't decide what I wanted to choose for dinner, but I did decide to let Molly choose ! & She did not disappoint! Molly mentioned she had only been in the job for a few weeks & what a credit she is to the team! She greeted us with genuine and kind smile ! So much enthusiasm and honestly just gave off such positive and upbeat vibes - Molly doesn't and didn't know this but as much as a lovely evening I was having, her professionalism and kindness helped me smile a little brighter. Truly we cannot hype up and thank Molly enough. Top credits to all ☺️

What a shame. It's been a while since I visited this place and now I remember why. The decor theme is getting a bit tired now. Sports, music, movies it's all be done to death and not updated in forever. Table was fine and our server was very polite and smiled the whole time through. She did seem busy but the reason why escapes me as there looked to be plenty of staff but also lots more empty tables. The menu was disappointing. Very limited. I remember it having lots more choice. I was then stuck for choice as I didn't really fancy what was in offer. Anyway, my daughter and I both went for the chicken strips in sesame seeds (we opted to leave out the chilli flakes..sensitive tummy's) it came with slaw and fries. I was quite impressed with the amount on the plate tbh and it was pretty tasty, especially the sauce. Drinks were refillable but didn't quite seem to taste like the real thing!! Anyway, I kicked the rear out of it and made sure I had my fill of refills. We saved money on pudding due to new users of the app and got them free with full meal. I had the brownie....very tasty and my daughter had the sundae with mallow. She found it too much (and that's saying something) and didn't enjoy it. It was soon time to leave so when I eventually flagged down our seems to be busy waitress I nearly had a heart attack at the bill. Since when was TGI sooooo expensive. I had to check and recheck as I thought there was a mistake. I've had much better for much less elsewhere. Needless to say I don't think I'll be back in a hurry *(To any TGIs) shame really as I used to enjoy going there. Some people may love TGI and I appreciate that, but it's not for me anymore.

Good place to dine with family friends.. lovely interiors.. lovely atmosphere!!

First time that i tried TGI Friday. We were a company of 6 and had a pram with us, they had booked us in the middle of the restaurant with the waiters working around (even though we told them that we will have a pram when we booked) The waitress had no idea about the menu at all and her excuse was the menu changed recently and she has no idea. she never offered to go and ask and give us a proper answer to what we are ordering. We asked her what the house salad includes and she didn’t know even one ingredient to tell us. Anyway we ordered the salad without knowing what we are getting. we got a green salad without a sauce or vinegar or lemon or oil, literally nothing in it. The waitress had no idea about the sauces also. The food we received was a joke. sweet potato fries ugly and burned most of them. The steak was like you are chewing rubber. The nachos was extremely small for a main dish. The cocktails in the menu are in different glasses and we got them served in coca cola old glasses. Spend so much money and still went home hungry. I don’t know how this place used to be as i never been there before but definitely from my experience i’m never going back or recommend it to someone.

I recently dined at TGI Fridays in Reading, and while I must commend the staff for their friendliness and helpful demeanor, I was profoundly disappointed with the quality of the food and beverages served. The meat portion served to me was not only disappointingly small, akin to what one might expect from a McDonald's Happy Meal, but its taste and texture were subpar, closely resembling cardboard in both aspects. This was a surprising letdown from what I anticipated in a meal from TGI Fridays. Additionally, the Coke I ordered, which was not of the refillable variety to avoid the dilution issue common with those options, was far from satisfactory. My first sip revealed a beverage that tasted overwhelmingly of water, with only a faint hint of Coke, prompting me to send it back immediately. It seemed as though the drink had been colored to look like Coke rather than taste like it. I believe TGI Fridays can do better, especially given the standard set by the service staff. It is crucial that the food and beverage quality match the level of customer service to provide a dining experience that reflects well on the brand's reputation. I hope my feedback is taken constructively and leads to improvements that will benefit all patrons in the future Your sincerely Never Retuning Customer

We had a very friendly welcome. We had booked a table but we're early and that wasn't a problem. Our server Elizabeth was friendly, knowledgeable, and helped my daughter decide what to eat, my daughter was happy with the suggestion We ordered starters and mains to come separately and this was clarified when our order was read back to us. We were on a table that seated 4 , (2 couples) but we had a high chair on the end. Baby's things took up some room on that table and when the "TIME SQUARE BIG SHARE " starter arrived on separate seving plates ( unlike other tables that had a tiered serving tower that took up just the room of 1 plate ) this made things a little cramped with drinks on the table too then, before we had finished eating 2 of the 4 main courses arrived, we had no place to fit them on the table and, we weren't ready . The server ( a different person to our main server ) said that she would put them under a heat lamp. It was quite a few minutes until we were done and the table was cleared and the mains returned. The Tiger Fries would have been good had they been fresh , and , the beef chilli was a bit dry due to the heat lamp. 1 soft drink ordered was out of stock and my diet Coke was a bit flat . Although we had a pleasant time as a family meeting up it will be a long while before we return to TGI Fridays . We felt the food was average, a bit overpriced and we weren't comfortable at our table.

Cold night. Lack of staff ( not the staff fault,) Food was good but took a long time, so over hungry by the time it arrived. Staff gave us discount due to wait which was kind and appreciated.

Went recently. Managed not to check in the car and had a parking fine. Very sad about this and when trying to call to enquire, turns out there is nobody you can phone. Service was nice but very very slow. Food took a while and most requests took ages to get through. Food was so so. Not amazing but not bad

This was my first time ordering from this particular restaurant as I was staying in the area for one night and decided to get TGI delivered to me. The delivery (via deliveroo) time was fine - about 45 minutes or so to wait. The glazed chicken was as good as ever. However the fries box was only half full, and the cheesecake I ordered was all over the box it came in. Also I asked for cutlery but didn't get any so I had to eat that messy cheesecake with my hands as my hotel room didn't have cutlery. On this particular occasion I didn't feel like this was up to the usual TGI standard but I am used to eating in the restaurant normally so I have to take that into account. I won't say that I won't come to the actual restaurant again but I am put off from ordering food to be delivered again.

We popped in on the off chance there would be a table, and thankfully even though it was busy, they found one for us! From start to finish, we had an awesome time. Ric served us along with several others bringing our food and drinks over. They were all friendly, calm and happy - even with it being so busy. We had starters, mains and desserts alongside cocktails - stuffed was an understatement haha!! Thanks to everyone for a brilliant experience.

Been here lots over the years All about the jack Daniels sauce

When I was younger (so much younger than before!!), TGI's WAS the place to hang out but now, it seems to be a bit like me, desperately hanging onto a past that is simply just that. It used to be such a cool place to want to be but now even the displayed balloons look like they've had enough... It's not cool. It's not hip. It's not trendy. It's not new, fresh or exciting. The menu definitely isn't any of these. The menu is overrated, overpriced and seriously underwhelming. The heady heydays of TGI's are over and I, for one, am not in a rush to head back.

TGIs used to be the go to place for myself and Friends. We would go here every other week. The food used to be good and at an ok price range the service was always fast and pleasant however our last visit will be our last. The reasons are as follows. Service. Service was very slow and lacking more interaction with the customer. This is probably because of the loss of a large number of staff. Staff got the bill wrong 3x on the 4th time it still was not right but could not be bothered to hassle over 50p Food and drink. The food is sub-par and mediocre at best. Mass produced pre made food served at 5star prices £10.50 for a starter £18+ for a burger and £13+ for a Sunday Savoy prices for chain restaurant food. The portions are now so small that they must be on rations or something. The lemonade is £4.10 and are 70% ice to save money (so ask for no ice). Cocktails are £18 i will let you decide if that's overpriced or not. TGI has gone on a massive money grab mission, the likes I have never seen from a restaurant before. Once a very good place to go now, overpriced in comparison to competitors. TGI now relies so much on its JD sauce items the restaurant chain would cease to exist without them.

Can’t believe how bad it has gotten. The food is suddenly £18 for chicken fingers and chips, the staff are not friendly or good with children (which I thought was their whole thing?), I asked for a milkshake which was always my favourite but it has now changed which gave me a panic attack (I have autism) and the staff were not overly considerate about it. They also ‘ran out’ of colouring so my 2 year old sat there screaming and banging his fork the whole meal. I am so disappointed and will not be going again. The whole TGIs atmosphere has gone.

Service very slow on both food & drinks although the young lady was very polite & helpful

This place is going DOWNHILL!!! We visited this on Friday night and we had our 10 week old baby with us in his pram…sleeping. We asked for a quiet table and they sat us in the middle of the restaurant. They didn’t tell us that they had other customers with birthdays and without a warning the staff started shouting on the top of their lungs - I understand this is a TGI Fridays thing but you need to be considerate of everyone and especially infants!! My partner ordered a steak cooked medium. It arrived Rare and we had to send it back. Her steak arrived 20 minutes later and after everyone else finished their dinner - that’s fine. The waiter said they would remove it from the bill - fair. But when the bill was presented to us…. Instead of removing it - we got charged twice!!! That made me so upset as I noticed it just before I paid with my card. I had to call the waitress (she was nowhere to be found since she took our order) and she rectified it without an apology!!! I was so upset that these staff members bring this place down - I am never setting a foot in this place ever again!!! Someone should have a serious one to one with the manager…!!!

I have been eating here for years now but this time… OMG - this was the worse service I’ve ever had for as long as I remember. The waitress was rude and sarcastic and treated my family like we were third class customers!!! At some point I wanted to get up and leave but that would ruin my family’s dinner. A table of 7 of us and we ordered quite a lot to share and then mains. We got served and then our so called “I’m your waitress and I’ll be serving you tonight” vanished! We wanted more drinks so we went to the bar since nobody would attend to and “how’s your food? Would you like more drinks”. So I approached the bar to order more drinks and the barmaid said: “you’ll need to order to your waitress - I can’t serve you here”. So I went around the restaurant to find my attentive waitress to order more drinks! Nobody bothered to clear our table or clear the empty plates - we had to stack them at the end of the table hoping we would get someone’s attention… no luck with that either!!! NO Manager in the restaurant to touch base and check whether their paying customers are being served properly. No management at all!!!!

Arrived on Tuesday 19th December around 16:30, first met with a family in 5 in front tht had been waiting ages to even be seated. I witnessed the lady go in and try to find someone twice with no luck. Finally a girl came out. Asked the usual allergies and reservations etc. took them in. Came back for us. Didn’t ask us about anything! No allergy check or reservation. Took us through and literally sat us at a table and walked off. No communication, no explanation of literally anything. We didn’t want to sit at that table as it was dirty, broken and in the middle between two large parties. Bare in mind the restaurant is huge and it was not even a quarter of capacity. We literally got up and left. Possibly only that one girl on shift doing everything! Drinks, orders, seating, clearing plates the lot. Still no reason for shocking basic service or manners. Shame as we were really looking forward to it for my birthday meal out.

Service was extremely slow and the food and drink is now way overpriced for what it is

The atmosphere and staff is lovely and positively friendly and the food was delicious, the only down side is the cost, the food is rather expensive.

I had sauce to put on my burger, but it tasted like cancer so I didn't use it. The burgers was dry. Other options looked betterer. There was a knife in the disabled bathroom because the male one was leaking. Will definitely come back, ticks all the boxes, 3 stars

The food tasted pretty good but was over priced for how much you got compared to other places. The waitress tried to over charge .TGI standards have really dropped over the last few years wouldn't use them again.

Not been the best meal I've had in there.service was slow .where we were sat there was no atmosphere.

It was freezing cold in the middle of the day. We asked the staff to move us to the warm area but they would not let us as the seats weren't in use.

Disappointing, due to seafood allergy, the options on the menu were very limited as everything that requires frying, whether it is chicken, onion rings, etc.. are all fried in the same oil as the seafood options. With most thing on the menu being fried this caused an lack of choice. We won't be returning as I like the option of choices. Not recommended for those with allergies.
