Tesco Cafe in Edinburgh, City of

I knew from experience I’d be playing Russian roulette visiting this Tesco cafe as I’d previous negative experience at a Tesco cafe in Musselburgh but anyhoo I purchased a can of pop, a baked tattlie with tuna mayo and spring onion and a piece of tiffin. Total cost came to £10.20 which I thought was pretty average. I waited a good fifteen minutes for my tattie and was so tempted to wolf into my piece of tiffing but being the (usually) good boy I am I resisted the strong urge to start pecking at it. Once the tattie eventually arrived I was speechless (a phrase that I can rarely be connected with as I always have something to say about almost anything!). The tattie was that small it wouldn’t look out of place in a school dining hall! I’ve attached an image of it along with a can of pop for scale. How they can serve such an embarrassment of a tattie I’ll never know. Anyhoo my belly took over the function of my mouth and I devoured it - quickly. Would I benefit this establishment with my patronage again? No. Costa prices with crappy quality.

Recently visiting the cafe in queensferry has been disappointing with tables not being cleaned, staff not the usual friendly chat and today kickpkate not attached to counter and looked dirty. Also breakfast roll served on a wet plate which made the roll inedible. Please bring back original staff who were friendly and cared about their customers experience. Absolutely shocking

Breakfast grill needs cleaning burnt bits stuck to bacon

Ordered a ham and cheese panini for £4.50 and it was clearly bought in pre wrapped and heated up. It was vile. Could have gotten a cheaper meal deal and it would've been nicer.

Lively team today at Tesco Cafe that served at 1:15 pm. The gentleman making the coffee was very polite and the lady was a great help. Thank you both!

I just left the Tesco café at the super store at Hermiston gait Edinburgh (15 Feb 2024, 15:00). We were served by a really nice and a hardworking elderly man with beard and a HORRIBLE Scottish short 40-50 years old woman with short pony tail hair working with him. She is so rude and has no manners toward customers. Seeing a Tesco manager approaching for a random cup of tea she changed her horrible attitude to a fake smile from one ear to another. However her attitude toward customers is awful! Grumpy faces and so rude answers, super unwelcoming behaviour. You ask her something and the reply is “It’s written there”. Tesco remove this abrupt female with bad manners with someone pleasant and nice! I keep an eye until you change her

First if all I would like it to be noted that we have been visiting the Tesco cafe often recently as it not only offers good food but value for money.However,today we took our 3 grandson's who are vegetarian and unfortunately the sandwiches with the kids meal offer were sold out.At the back of the till there was at least 4 loaves of bread but was told they couldn't make up a cheese sandwich for the boys.They offered a cheese and ham toastie and we could discard the ham !! What is it with staff these days ! There was at least 4 staff ,so enough to cover for a few minutes whilst someone made a sandwich. Very disappointed customer who would have spent around £ 30 !

Just had my first experience at Tesco Cafe, and it's now on my quick-bite radar! The nice, big chai latte for 3.5 pounds was a delightful find, perfect for those caffeine cravings. Opted for the classic British breakfast at 5.85 pounds – hearty and well-made. The chicken wrap at the same price was a flavorful choice for a quick bite. Service was commendable, making the stop even more enjoyable. If you're after a convenient and satisfying road trip meal, Tesco Cafe is a solid option.

Mac and cheese was supposed to come with a side salad and garlic bread. I had to ask for my side salad after my mac n cheese was delivered without it. The salad was 3 lettuce leaves and a cherry tomato cut in half. It wasn't the finest lunch I've ever had...

Just asked for a plain ham panini for my 9 year old son. We have been coming here for around 2 years and this has never been a problem. I was then quite abruptly told that they only do ham AND cheese panini's as they come pre-wrapped. I explained this has never been an issue in the past and I just got a very rude explanation that this is not the case (or words to that effect.) I then asked "what if I've requested no cheese due to dietary requirements?" and the worker basically said well they can't get a panini then. Very disappointed. Is the cafe under new management? Whoever this man was, was extremely unpleasant with zero customer service skills.

Visited Tesco Hermiston Gait cafe Saturday afternoon, it was virtually empty. There were 4 members of staff behind the counter, no idea what they were all doing because no one was serving they all just ignored us. Lattes were luke warm & much too strong even though we asked for a single shot of coffee. Vegetarian breakfast also luke warm. Toast was untoasted just looked like 2 slices of bread. Asked if it could be toasted a little more, came back perfect but the butter had completely melted to liquid & was just floating round the plate. Had to get a load of napkins to try & mop it up. Asked the man who had brought the toast back if we could have some more butter because it had melted & he almost threw it at me. A very unpleasant individual who was quite clearly causing a bad atmosphere between the staff in the cafe & definitely should not be allowed to interact with customers. I can forgive poor food/drink but not unfriendly or unpleasant staff, that is never acceptable. The food has never been great here but the staff have usually been pleasant which makes up for it. Now that appears to have gone downhill as well we won’t be returning.

Well what can i say! I placed 2 breakfast orders and an order for a flat white coffee,the coffee arrived first which i had to take back as it was cold,then the 2 breakfasts arrived and i was shocked at how badly it was cooked,the bacon was still practically raw,1 sausage was older than the other as it was cold and wrinkly,eggs were extremely overcooked on 1 side,potato scone was barely cooked, the only item that was cooked properly was hash browns, 1 of the worst breakfasts I’ve ever had. AVOID

Only doing toastie or panini today. Asked if she could do a cheese and onion panini no problem she said. Guy came out with a cheese and ham no I asked for cheese and onion. We are not permitted to do that you can only get that on a toastie why your making them up fresh what difference does it make? It's no allowed 😕 Got my money back and left

The roll was kid size?, I am lactose intolerant and the roll was plastered in chesse when I picked the roll up everything fell out of the roll and the black pudding I think that's what it was and a pink sause what was that?, I have put it in the bin shocking £5 regards karen

I felt sorry for staff. They were busy and no where near enough of them. They looked at breaking point and stressed while I waited over 30mins for my food. Food was good

Paid for extra bacon on rolls there wasn’t any. The roll was hard round the side.

I liked the breakfast in Tesco cafe and it was good quality so far. Hope they can maintain it.

I asked for no beans and I asked for an avocado instead but they gave me beans and wrote me a note saying sorry they don’t do swaps… I’ve done this for a full year with me delivery because they don’t have avocado as an “extra” choice but today was different for some reason and my breakfast was ruined with horrible beans all over it! If they couldn’t deliver my order correctly then they should have called me and told me and I’d have kindly said it’s okay then I’ll order somewhere that allow me to choose if I don’t want beans and I’m allowed extras.

Delivery person spilled coffee all over the ground and food dropped on floor and expected me to accept it. English not their first language so trying to get them to understand I was accepting order was difficult. Left me to clear up the mess with no idea if they understood I wanted a replacement order to be delivered. Can't phone Teasco Cafe as they're not open for calls. Very disappointing. Refund requested.

Over priced tiny portions. Butter portions put in with chips (melted all over the place) £2.80 for a bottle of juice. Fry up was really shady, 1 sausage 1 bacon.

Excellent customer service, delicious breakfast, reasonable price, lovely cafe. Highly recommend. Will eat here again.

Really disappointed ☹️ the eggs were like rubber, as if microwaved or re heated. Pretty much everything seemed reheated texture and look wise, even though it barely had a heat in it when it got here. Barely edible. And the beans were missing so it was all really dry

The chip portion has drastically reduced. Was originally in a box, now comes in a tiny McDonald’s size sleeve but as large chips. Rip off! Also ordered tomato sachets which were not included.

I’ve ordered a few things from here but lately the last 2 orders I’ve had have been horrible or with stuff missing. Not sure what’s happened but I had a roll missing and the coffee has been horrible the last 2 orders.

The driver was severely incompetent. He couldn’t speak English He got lost, he sat at the top of my street for over 10 minutes. No apology when he did eventually arrive. Resulting in our food being freezing cold.

Fantastic food. Got the breakfast wrap and the chips and they were lovely. Could tell straight away they were a better level of quality than the average. Great to see a new, reliable breakfast place in the area! Choose here.

I ordered from the cafe this morning, brilliant value for money I got the ultimate bap with extra sliced sausage, which is steak 🙂 and It was well worth the money, my partner got a breakfast which she loved also. I like the fact that when you order hot drinks you get a choice of milk options. Will definitely order from here again.

Called here on way home from airport. Seems to be only cafe in Hermiston Gait but still seems to try to be truly awful. Only just after 1pm and only 1 sandwich in chiller. No burgers and given a “Suppose we could make a sandwich”. 3 tables occupied and most of the others dirty. This does Tesco no god at all.

Very poor service. Asked for a latte and received black coffee with spot of milk waitress shrugged her shoulders asked for a scone which was basically flung on plate then had to go back for butter much to her disgust no baby changing areas luckily we were heading to Mothercare next would not recommend

This is a nice place to have a little break,breakfast or lunch during your shopping trip or if your in the area,Its not that expensive and the food and drinks are good,The cafe is clean and tidy as well

Cafe just closed at 9.20am due to staff not turning up. 1 young girl running the place, she was doing her best! It has gone downhill recently!

It’s lunch time, only 3 tables taken, no queue but told 20 mins wait for food. Asked what about soup or toastie but that was 20 mins too! More staff than customers, needs some management!!

Incredibly slow staff. The food that should have taken 5 minutes tops took 25 minutes and made me late for something. Would not recommend.
