Tesco in North Tyneside

Disappointed and embarrassed by the security staff today. After spending nearly £100, the exit door alarm went off—not on the trolley, which had already passed in front of me, being pushed by my Black Caribbean wife and kids—but on me, a white non-British person. The security staff didn’t search me but immediately went to search my Black wife's trolley. After searching, they found nothing outside of what was on the receipt. We were allowed to leave, but not without embarrassment. I strongly believe the security staff holds some prejudice against certain types of people, and they may be manually triggering those alarms. Alternatively, there could be a technical fault that should be carefully investigated if you want to keep your customers happy.

I went yesterday for house things and one member of staff working on the home aisle helped me carry my things as I didn't have a basket or trolley then another member of staff who was colecting baskets got a trolley for me. Thank you so much!

It's freezing in here, even all the staff are walking around with their jackets on. I would hate to have to work in here, being cold all day. Turn up the heating! 🥶

I shopped here today with my little girl, we got home and discovered she'd left her beloved unicorn at the shops, we went back and the front desk said it hadn't been handed in, we retraced our steps but didn't find it, I went back to front desk planning to ask if I could leave my number in case the unicorn was handed in. The Scottish blonde old woman on the front desk waited until it was my turn, I said hello she looked me in the eye and logged off and turned away. Vile. Who does that to a crying child. Train your staff to care about your customers.

Just used their click and collect. Terribly slow and what a faff. Would be quicker to go into the shop and do it yourself. Nice enough delivery but takes too long. won't be returning

Canny big shop with lots of depts to choose from. Quite a big clothing area which is good but most of the sizes are small. There's a decent drinks selection and a bakery. You can park in the giant carpark at the back for free. There's a restaurant inside with toilets. You can also visit timpsons on site for keys or passport photos!

This is my local tesco, I'm always very impressed with the produce that can be found inside this store. The fruit and veg are always very fresh they are also reasonably priced and sometimes you will find some exotic fruit that you may never have heard of before I love buying and trying new fruit I haven't even heard of until that day. The meat is always reasonably priced too and the quality is always fantastic. My favourite part is the clothes section I often find some heavily reduced clothing for next to nothing you can get a real bargain. The staff are always very friendly and very helpful I truly love nipping into tesco when needed.

Regularly cancel delivery orders due to "in store issues" on a Sunday. Leaving people with little to no food. Absolute joke

The staff are friendly and I find what I want when I shop.

Did not have a very good customer experience last night at Tesco Extra North Shields. After being on a 12 hour shift at work I thought I would go straight and get my shopping to save me coming out tomorrow. After getting a full trolley of shopping I went to the checkout and see only the self scanning open. I asked the member of staff if someone could open a checkout which has happened before but I was told that does not happen now after 10.00 pm. At this point I felt like just leaving the trolley as I don't use these self scanning services even when shopping during the day as I have never agreed with them. It was only the thought of the busy staff having to return every thing back that stopped me. During the scanning I had to call the extremely busy member of staff at least six times with machine queries. We had to keep moving full bags onto the floor as there was not enough space and no room in the trolley for the bags as it was still being emptied. I felt after doing a long day in my own job I then had to come and do Tesco's job for them also. Sorry it has been such a long rant but I feel the customer service is not very good with these changes and I feel it is just trying to save money using less staff which is not good.

I was served by a young man today I think his name was Mathew. I shop in all different supermarkets but this man was so kind and helpful and his customer skills were amazing.he was working on checkout 017 at 3pm.i was so impressed with his lovely costumer manner, I have spoke to many about him.you are very lucky to have him Tesco. He could show alot of staff all over the country how to treat costumers. I will be returning more often after my amazing service today. I never post anything like this but I am really overwhelmed how thoughtful he was.

3rd delivery from Tesco. Apparently at my door 20 mins trying from 20:15. I have had no missed call they have my contact number. My ring shows one notification for someone is at my door. For someone being at my door for 20 mins can’t say they really tried I live in a flat if you really tried I would hear. I will be going in store to complain to management. I made a call to customer services by 8:45 so if really tried am sure I would have answered. This was last of my money have no food till paid now and Tesco state can’t get my money for 3-5 days. So when they try to re deliver Friday I may not even have the money back in my account. Looks like no food for me till next Tuesday. Disgusting

Visited Tesco mobile at Tesco Extra at Norham Road North Shields. A young man called Luke was really helpful and knew the answer to all our questions very pleasant and an asset to Tesco mobile.

Just spent over half an hour in the car park. Ridiculous. Get delivery drivers who can drive.

One of the worst breakfasts we have ever had, lukewarm coffee, cold bacon, beans tasted sweet, the only food hot was the fried egg and hash browns, serve on a cold plate, and the person who served us never smiled. Will never eat there again.

You can buy most of the household stuff from wines to roses to groceries to clothes. It’s the only place I go to for my monthly shopping and have many Aldi price match products.

Takes some beating on prices this store.

Terrible. Stuck waiting at a till for 20 minutes while checkout person as trying to get help for their customer. The people who appeared to be apparent support for checkout staff were ignoring and too busy chatting and laughing....3 of them. Maybe they should work as hard as the other staff. When they did come over, didn't know what they were doing. That customer is probably still stood there now!

Great little shop when you want something quick they do most things

I usually shop here at least 3 times a week on Sundays I buy scratch tickets . Now this is two Sundays I've gone into the store and been told I can't buy scratch tickets because they are closing soon , the first time was 3:50pm so I figure that is fair enough , but today I went in and at 3:15 (45 mins before closing ) only to be told that the scratchcard are closed off ..so I asked what time does this section closed to which the lady responded well there is a lot to do before the store closes at 4 ! I do not ever have this problem at any other store but here ! If you are going to close that section off earlier than 4pm let the public know and if this isn't the case inform the staffer who closes off at this time . You cannot be openly advertising closing at 4, having ppl plan their day accordingly only to be met with someone closing that section earlier than they are supposed to !

Very friendly staff that helped me find what I was looking for

The store has gone downhill since the introduction of self service trolley service! There are hardly any staff manning the normal tills, 3 staff today, it took 20 minutes waiting before we could start unloading our trolley! I feel sorry for the staff who are doing their best, still with a smile and cheery greeting for customers. They deserve better from their employers Tesco needs to get a grip NO-ONE wants the trolley self service!

Last Wednesday, my daughter took bad in the shop which resulted in an ambulance being called however, Emma who works at the shop was amazing and I can't thank her enough for being with us and supporting us at our worst moment. Also a big thank you to the staff that were there and moved some stands in the clothing part to give us some privacy.

Very pricey but a good choice of produce. When busy the road and out is nightmare.

Car park is ridiculous in busy periods. Spend more time trying to get out than in the shop. Tesco need to have staff helping traffic get out. Do not go near at busy times. Total lack of interest in customer experience.

Today - Sat 13th Aug 2022 - NO PIPED MUSIC IN STORE - such a pleasant experience! Why can't this lack of music be a permanent feature in one of my favourite stores. Piped (dreary) music does NOT make me inclined to remain in the store longer - nor to purchase more good (quite the reverse!). Keith - Store Manager - went out of his way to help me locate a product in the store yesterday (on a busy day at a busy time) - thank you, Keith!

Efficient online shopping service. Customers are promptly advised of lower than usual sell by dates when food is delivered or collected - this helps to prevent a lot of needless waste when doing a fortnightly shop. Well done TESCO, keep up the good work ....

Very air conditioned store making it a pleasant place to browse. Contains timpson, photo outlet and phone outlet too plus a pharmacy. Clothing section is very extensive too. The cafe was shut in the evening when we got there. The aisles were well stocked even in the evening and we managed to restock out tin cupboards in particular. Good selection of books at a good price. All the staff we spoke to were very friendly and helpful.

Has been repeatedly closed when it should be open, signs have now changed to reflect closing from midnight to 6am. Last two visits they’ve not had items that I normally get there (everything else is stocked). The standards seem to be dropping for my personal shop over the last year, got a pretty new clothes but though…

Wow. To coin a Toys R Us phrase, all things under one roof. An amazing place to visit, a one stop shop for all things that you might need. Favourite Club Card offers and prices for festive delights - ample car parking and easy access.

Alright shop, manage to get what I need without any hassle. In and out as quick as I can be!

It's usually my go to shop and always the same thing, staff at the self checkout standing around chatting with eachother, not paying attention and you're left standing there for ages.

Get the clubcard, you get rewards and you also get food cheaper which is always great.

Massive store with a good range of products. Probably bigger than any stores in Newcastle. Prices are average. The store's advertised opening hours don't seem to match up with reality. The store has been closed on at least two occasions when it's supposed to be open, so it's best to go when it's busier just in case they close because it's quiet.

Our favourite shop. Well stocked, fantastic customer service, more than enough parking spaces, recycling containers, taxi stopping parking, disabled and child parking spaces, cash machines and shopping collection point. As for Covid Tesco has got it right but where ever you go can't stop people from breaking the rules, the sanitizers are all in place. If only those people would be be more vigilant😐. Thank you Tesco for your Clubcard points, they really come in useful. We pay for car insurance and many other things.

A good selection of food and utensils. But over the last month the prices are creeping up, the staff are helpful and friendly. If it wasn't for the prices I would have given it 5 stars

It's a joke! Waited at the bakery counter for 10 mins no-one came! Asked an assistant (when I found one) if she could help me, she seemed really put out that I asked her a question!! Did nothing to help me. Hardly any staff on shop floor. Did ask another shop assistant he just pointed to where the product was!! Really big shop so I never found it yet!! I know there is Covid going on and there will be staff shortages, but the staff I did speak too had no customer service skills, whatsoever!

Im so disappointed/angry that you have taken away the dedicated 1hr time slot on a Sunday for nhs and emergency workers. That was the only time I felt safe enough to come and do my shopping. Other supermarkets are still doing it why are you not????

abs changed my shopping to only tesco as their staff have social distancing spot on as suffer from anxiety feel good in tesco all staff friendly no ordering you about like morrisons staff well done tesco to everyone who work there my local is simonside south sheilds and north sheilds

1. Been shoved at the back of a queue for not having a shopping trolley despite telling them I only need one item. 2. Their covid19 restrictions sends a false sense of security to shoppers but is completely useless (I am a medic). 3. Especially closing aisles which restricts flow and doesn’t allow social distancing when people have to turn around (with their compulsory trolleys) bumping with each other. 4. Long queues even inside the supermarket and at aisles. 5. Their one way system makes shopping confusing and can miss on items that you are meant to get or have to come back to. The only supermarket in the area that operates on such pointless rules. Went to kingston park at least they have shopping baskets there.

Went to click and collect this morning to pick up shopping and service was very excellent! :) lovely people greeted us they were so pleasant and they put our shopping in for us ! Just had to open the boot which hasn’t happened at other supermarkets we have tried clock and collect at. Highly Recommend

Paid £6.95 for bigger breakfast.sausages were burnt and like chipolata sausages.bacon again burnt.how the h..l you burn and dry out a fresh tomato is behind me yes what I said.about 22 beans and 3 undercooked hash browns.2 tiny bits of crusty bread and one tiny butter what an absolute disgrace.never ever go there again.was first time aswell.greedy tescos and under qualified cook..

Tried to report a racist and xenophobic incident that happened at the store. Tesco said they couldn’t get involved. Appalling dereliction of duty.

Our Online shop is delivered from this store. We used to live elsewhere & tesco Kingston Park would do our online shop delivery. Since we’ve received shopping from N.Shields store we’ve had lots of issues. Although it has improved since we brought the issues to their attention. Silly errors & short use by dates. We once received shopping on a Friday & all the fresh meat only had one day left on the use by date. It was a weekly shop. Unfortunately not all of us can shop in store . I would definitely prefer to shop in store . The delivery drivers are all friendly & helpful

I love the variety of stock and they always have just what i need. The shelves are usually full unlike other Supermarkets these days.

We took the members from Tynemouth Village Day Centre to out local Tesco cafe for a cuppa and a biscuit for the afternoon The manager Danielle and Colin gave us a real welcome and nothing was too much trouble The members enjoyed their treat Thanks to all in the cafe

In here pretty much every day. Staff are always super friendly and happy to help when you need them. It's a shame it isn't bigger but they offer a good variety of things. Self serve/scan as you go or use the normal tills. It's a shame the fish/meat/deli counter has closed. I think they still sell the hot cooked chickens. Cafe on site though I've only ever had a coffee. Recently upgraded the car park to include a filling station which also has a air/water point.

I wasn't in a hurry whatsoever but the girl serving took ages to acknowledge me. There was no que, and I waited until she had finished what she was doing near her till. Still no acknowledgment. A few minutes later I asked who was taking orders. She looked at me with an unpleasant manner and said she was busy with an order. This is fair enough you may agree. But she had seen me standing there with no one in the que for a long time. She also passed by me and still didn't acknowledge me. And then she give me a look of distain once I asked a question. Then when she asked me what I wanted a minute later, I said "can I have a coconut soya latte" she said, in an off hand manner, coconut OR soya. I said I'm so sorry, yes either one. It's just the menu said coconut soya. She said, coconut OR soya. And she was quite rude with her manner. As if she was impatient or annoyed that she may have had to explain. But please everyone look at the menu and it says exactly what I asked for. I was happy to have either coconut or soya. But felt like I wanted to leave asap. As was made so unwelcome. Now I never leave bad reviews. I'm a reviewer. I like to leave positive. But she should treat everyone as if they were a reviewer. And what a shame I shall never go there again. Well at least not while she is there. Does she realise that we have many vulnerable people who don't venture out much and it's a lot easier to be kind that not. If you can't be kind, stay home. I hope Tesco send her for customer care, or updated customer care. They would benefit and she certainly would. Girl is roughly 5 ' 8 and long blonde hair in pony tail and I was served at 3 55 pm Saturday 1st June. 2019. Thank you for reading. Plus the full half hour I was sat at table, there was no one came in a que after, the place was emptyish and my table never got cleared. I sat with it like the picture the whole time. And get were not even my things. How awful. :( How awful to have to write this.
